Went here recently, only to find that my trousers did not fit. To my surprise I was allowed to stay and had a wonderful time walking around tea bagging unsuspecting diners on their desert course.

Popped in for Sunday Roast last weekend. The venison pie was melt-in-the mouth divine, pork roast superb and the wine by the glass was excellent. Fire in hearth, great atmosphere and staff were absolutely lovely. However, for the sharp price, the vegetable portion for two was miserly, more like a portion for one. Also, no one checked on our food, if we'd like more wine, desert menu, etc. We were sat in the 'bar area', which seemed to lack staff attention, as the team seemed to be in the restaurant more. We had to flag them down for anything. Lastly, the coffee was 'meh' for the venue. Just need work on portions, attention and better coffee (!) and next time we'll request seating in the dining room.

Fabulous food and venue, but being charged for vegetables that were suppose to be included left a bitter taste . Serving staff were really good. Being the only ones in the restaurant i was suprised the chef did not come and say hi and socialise at the end at least. We did sit down late but not an excuse to be what seemed to be a moody atmosphere from the kitchen !! Real shame i would have given an exemplary review otherwise. Its not a cheap place but i consider it extremely good quality. It use to be just a pub 48 years ago when we were regular punters and still has the charm but from what i understand drinkers and ramblers etc are not welcome , missing a trick i feel. Hope that business picks up for the gaffer just 7 customers in total this evening.

Simply one of the tastiest meals I've ever eaten. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The lamb was tender and slightly pink. The gravy was sublime and on a par with that my late Grandma made when I was a child. A lovely secluded venue with charming staff.

This pub should really be named The Don’t Drop Inn as if you haven’t booked, you’ll be treated as a second class citizen and not able to order any food. It isn’t really a pub at all which is a shame as it’s on popular walking routes. If you’re looking for a quick drink it’s fine. The menus looked incredible and I’m sure the food is great so this review is mainly aimed at the average joe who, like us, expected to be able to wander in and get some pub food but that’s not the vibe.

Made a special trip to try Simon Bonwick's famed classical French cooking and more than glad we did. Everything was exceptional, including a finely prepared starter of picked crab with citrus sauce, perfectly cooked tender lamb rump with salsa verde and a peach baba dessert that was out of this world. Service was warm, attentive and welcoming and the setting was very idyllic - off the beaten track in the woods. Followed lunch with a glorious hike back through the Thames Valley to catch the train back to London from Marlow. Will be back!

Following recent ownership change we decided to again try the Dew Drop inn for dinner on 26/5/23. Rather strangely unable to book online, so had to call a few times before reaching somebody to make a booking. I had asked my PA to reserve a table for 3 at 20.00. She advised booked for 19.30 but as published opening hours are open until 22.00 I did not expect any issue if we arrived at 20.00 as were were in meetings until 19.30 before making our way down the interminable road of huge speed bumps before the long drive through a pot holed single lane road to the restaurant Quite incredibly upon arrival we were advised that the kitchen closed at 20.00 and the chef would not be serving us. I noted the pub was less than 50% full , with only a few diners and 3 cars in the car park ? As we had driven 30 minutes in 2 separate vehicles to get there , I again asked the waitress whether she thought this was good business practice to be turning away corporate diners so rudely , but she again advised the chef would not be serving anybody as the kitchen was closed ! Needless to say we will never return and we recommend other diners avoid Try the nearby Hindshead or Caldesi - top class establishments with amazing staff unlike the Dewdrop Inn

Terrible place. Booked for 7.30 pm for a Friday and arrived at 8 pm. We were turned away as kitchen “was closed at 8 pm”. Hours advertised on google states close at 10 pm. This ownership is not only very strange but could not care less about guests. Risky to go there as could end up in a wasted trip. No online booking tool so you have to call several times to get a booking. Previous visit had to wait to get a handwritten bill. The food is not this good to merit all the hassles. Will not be around long if they keep upsetting their guests.

Whilst the picturesque, Hansel & Gretel style location is worth the drive from the main road, simply don’t go there if you’re hungry. I can’t criticise the service, the staff were lovely and accommodating but I could sense the understandable embarrassment of the young waiter when my girlfriend and I were served the smallest amount of food on a plate that was longing to have more on it. The menu said falafels (note the plural), avocado and spiced grains. Sounds wonderful. It was one tiny falafel and a teaspoon of grains with spots of avocado purée dotted around the plate. Sure, that one mouthful tasted nice but I could have spent the £11 per plate in much better ways. The beer was good, staff were friendly, the crooked old cottage was delightfully charming and cosy and the location was idyllic. But oh how wrong the food style was for that setting. Hugely overpriced and disappointing. Get the food right, and it might have been one of the best hidden pub gems in the country.

Wonderful lunch at the new Dew Drop Inn. Having just reopened this week with Simon Bonwick at the helm and a complete style change in the kitchen, we were eager to try it out. Very friendly front of house staff, Ian and Florence took great care to sort our apero and explain the menu options. Starters chosen were smoked salmon and the herring, which were fresh and delicious. As it was Sunday, I chose the roast beef special, and my partner picked the venison pie. Both dishes were outstanding and generous in size. We finished with a syrup sponge pudding with ice cream, which I now regret sharing 😋 The location is off the beaten track and charming. We stopped off for lunch on our walk around the beautiful Chilterns. A pleasant looking traditional country pub hidden away down a narrow lane. Have visited this pub several times over the last five years and used to rate it quite high. The day we visited the bar and restaurant were pretty busy ... So it was a suprise that although 4 cask ales were advertised, none were available. As we were walking and no other pub nearby we reluctantly stayed for lunch. Menu very limited to mostly sandwiches and burgers. Food delivered was average. Ok staff were friendly and interior is spacious and pleasant but average food and bottled beer means a rating of 2stars was generous I think. May be a while before we return.

It’s been recently re-opened (5th Aug ‘22) and seems to have been smarted up with new decking outside and plenty of parasol covered benches. This is my first review I have ever done on trip advisor, but felt as my lunch was so disappointing other people need to here. I have visited the Dew Drop Inn on many occasions with my family before COVID, and after not being out to a pub/ restaurant for many months my wife and myself thought we would brave it and treat ourselves. On arriving at this beautiful setting we entered the pub and were greeted by members of staff not wearing masks! As it was a beautiful day we sat outside which was clean and tidy. Our waiter (I Think his name was Andy) gave us some menus and was very friendly. I chose a Brie and Bacon sandwich and my wife had the famous Turpin Burger. After waiting a short while our food was served to us and this is where is goes down hill. My sandwich was dry, the bread was stale, opening the sandwich the butter was plonked into the middle of the bread and it had 1 small slice of Brie inside. Not much care or attention had gone into making a simple sandwich. My wife enjoyed her burger, but I’m afraid £7.50 for a sandwich that I could of made at for half price and filled it with a lot more was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately it has put us of returning any time soon.

Popped in for Sunday lunch, no booking but got a seat outside and was greeted with a smile and the service was excellent. Ordered food and it was delivered in a flash! Very tasty and plenty of it. Would definitely recommend.

Dropped in for a drink while out for a walk. My partner asked if possible to have a Caesar salad without anchovies. Went she went to enquire at bar a rather loud mouthed chap made several disparaging remarks. Turned out he’s the landlord. Even although we were sat approx 10m away he continued. We won’t be back.
