Went on Christmas day. Great atmosphere, very busy so make sure you get in early if you want a table. Serving at bar was very prompt.

No idea about the food, went there for a pint or two. There's a great atmosphere. It's relatively easy to get served, even if there's a crowd in. The staff are very friendly. Just a great pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Pre Bedford Blues rugby drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Nice welcoming atmosphere and good selection of beers that aren't Brewpoint (unusual these days in Bedford!). Support your local. Will return.

Small town pub in the castle area. You could almost be in a rural local. A variety of well kept real ales and regular entertainment. Currently covering rugby world cup.

Fantastic pub, the place is just quality. I go here every time I'm in bedford just love it, how pubs should be and were in my day. Great Guinness and ales and spot on Staff. Well hadn't been there for a while, Guinness just as good and atmosphere, a cold wet January evening the place was packed and this is what pubs should be like.well just been back 18.3.23 slightly gone down a bit, landlord to be honest bit grumpy but to be fair busy weekend and the Guinness not as good, but still a good boozer just an off night I suppose. 8.10.23 came back on a lovely sunny day and loved it, good Guinness still and some nice ales. Polite service friendly locals. Still worth a visit if your in bedford. Cheers

By far and away the best pub in Bedford. Ronnie and Rebecca are wonderful, welcoming hosts, and the beer is impeccable. A fine place to have a pint during these cold nights (especially when the fire is on). Viva le Devy!

I've had two very different experiences of this pub in the last week, and felt compelled to write my first ever review on this site (sadly, not a good one). Last weekend the Devi (as it's known to locals) held a wonderful remembrance day lunch, with wonderful food, and songs, where all were welcome. Last night (18th November) was a real eye opener. I arrived at the pub just before 7pm to be greeted by a whole bar full of what I can only describe as lager louts, shouting vulgarities (much of which was misogynistic) and being quite intimidating to those older (and younger) than themselves. To add insult to injury, as they took up the whole of the bar area, I (and others) could literally not get served. My friend and I waited 5 minutes to be served- whether we were ignored or just hidden by the louts who took up the bar area I don't know. But what a terrible shame that a pub that can put on such wonderful events as last sunday can turn into a vile, intimidating and unwelcoming pub within the space of a week. Whether they have changed hands in that time I don't know, but if this is what is deemed as acceptable behaviour in the pub I will not be returning.

Great traditional pub, all the staff are great, nice little beer garden and the variety of drinks is spot on. Nice place to go to after a walk down the river / park, then off to the chippy on Denmark street.

Went for a Halloween band night. Great gig and atmosphere. Everyone having fun, well managed venue.

This was my local 40+ years ago, dropped by as I was in the area. Shame the pub games have gone, but still has the friendly local vibe. Done a good job with the beer garden, don't remember there being one. Some good beers on tap.

Lovely local pub with a true family run vibe and a friendly bunch of regulars. The range of drinks available if appropriate for the size of the place but the prices are happily good. Decor is really traditional with everywhere clean and for a relaxing drink in the area it’s hard to beat or recommend anywhere else.

What a great pub, good selection of drinks on tap and spirts. Atmosphere fantastic, made to feel welcome by the staff and friendly regulars. A++

Garden very well sheltered, so able to avoid the bank holiday wind and rain. Table service was quick and beer top notch

Very enjoyable afternoon. They have a great set-up. COVID rules all in place but does not detract from enjoying time spent in this great local pub. We will keep using The Devonshire whenever we are in Bedford visiting our daughter

This is a great traditional English town pub. No fancy food or frills just good beer and a great friendly atmosphere. Staid so long they had to throw me out last time I was there.

Amazed to find sparklers on the pumps. Don't landlords realise how it ruins the taste of the beer? However he was pleased to remove them so only one round was spoiled.

This is a proper pub whihc is a comfortable 10 minute walk from the centre of the town. There is a good selection of real ales plus a wide range of other well priced drinks. The pub is warm and you get a friendly welcome on your visit. Well worth looking out when visiting the town !

The Devonshire Arms is very much a Spit & Sawdust Pub, which has been built within a street of terraced houses which seems a tad out of place, the bar and adjoining seating area enjoys an open fireplace with wooden chairs and no carpets which allow people voices to be echoed around the bar.

Popped in for a drink and just made to feel like a local wonderful atmosphere really good prices especially the Prosecco thankyou

One of the greatest pubs in Bedford! Atmosphere is great and there are plenty beers or ciders on tap. I think I counted 6 on draft and another 6 on keg so great variety. The beer selection is mostly traditional British nothing too crafty and there’s also some food available like pies. Definitely recommended!

Dropped into the Devonshire arms. A traditional victorian pub. Great atmosphere, exceelent real ales & good selection of wine. The pub is charming. Has 2 bars & a garden. Public bar & lounge bar. A good place for talking with friends without loud music impairing conversation. Excellent.

Nice rustic type pub, real ale specialists. Single Malt whiskey very expensive by comparison.

More than happy to visit here as it is another real ale pub, with a good reputation for good ale, not aware they did food though.
