The Deck in Chichester

March 16th. Another enjoyable visit to this deservedly popular venue. As always, warmly greeted & offered a choice of tables. 2 ' bubble & squeak' breakfasts later & we left feeling replete 👍👍. So why not 5*?..well ( & I understand the cost saving rationale), the move away from a commercial booking system to an email booking system has it's pitfalls if you are booking a table less than 24 hours before your intended visit, which in our case, was an email sent at 21:00 the night before requesting a table at 11:00. It should be noted that I made 2 attempts via the phone number too... These are just thoughts.. We will of course return 😊👍

Pancakes! Took my 3 grandchildren for a half term treat and we were delighted! A choice of three different types of pancakes ( savoury and sweet) which we all wholeheartedly enjoyed. Great setting and attentive staff. Lovely area to walk Throughly recommend for all

Fantastic venue for a private function. Delicious canapes and drinks for 50 guests in a wonderful setting. We and all our guests were made to feel extremely welcome and the service was outstanding (noted by several of our friends). Well done to the fabulous Kate and her team!

Nice ambience, friendly service, amazing food (Avo and eggs on sour dough was delicious) we were all made to feel very welcome, even the dog 🐕

Pre booked lunch for January 13th & I'm glad I did as the Deck was busy & buzzing 👍👍. Warmly greeted & offered a table with views across the marina & beyond, which was a 👍 for my guests. All our food choices hit the spot ( 2x fish and chips, a burger & a pork bubble & squeak)..😋😋. Service was friendly & timely without being intrusive 👍. I had to finish with the yummaliscious pecan pie.. Until next time, which hopefully won't be so long as I've always enjoyed visiting the Deck..😊..

Went for my mother's birthday brunch and the staff were lovely. Range of food selected from big breakfast to salads and Fish and Chips, all were superb so cannot fault anything. A real South Coast gem.

I brought my family here on Christmas Eve and we had a lovely brunch. So I came back today with my dog, and we were asked to sit outside in the wind, even though there were other dogs inside?! I've even seen dogs inside sat on the seats on other occasions. My dog is very well behaved and after a long walk, he would have happily napped under my seat while we enjoyed brunch but unfortunately we had to leave. The lady who seemed to be in charge pulled an unprofessional face to her colleagues as we left feeling unfairly treated and unhappy.

Have used this place before and the food and service is always excellent. Good atmosphere in a really nice setting. the brunch menu is very comprehensive and in particular the smashed Avocado really tasty. A good place for informal business meetings - I will return.

The view is incredible. Food tasty too, and best to book. Can be expensive, but the view may be worth it.

What a fabulous bottomless Birthday brunch we had today. We felt so welcomed by Kate and the rest of the team. The food and drink were first class, we definitely felt very happy by the end of our time at The Deck.Thank you to everyone especially Kate. I know the birthday girl had a wonderful time.

Brilliant food, excellent staff, fab location. Able to easily accommodate access for my Nan in her wheelchair. We really enjoyed our first time experience there and will for sure be back.

A special brunch at the end of a great weekend away

Visited for the first time based on a recommendation and the reviews on here, it’s clearly popular. Service was excellent, food very good, tasty and piping hot. My only observation, is I deleted some of the breakfast options. I wasn’t asked or offered a replacement. So I ultimately ended up paying more for less. It’s been a very long time since I wasn’t offered a replacement when deleting an item or 2.

Walked past lots of times but never ventured in but the rain clouds were a gathering up above so we dived in for drinks. Glad we did as the heavens opened and we found a lovely friendly place for drinks. Just a tea and an oat milk hot choc which was the best oat milk one in some time. We sat outside but sheltered from the rain. Will return.

We were staying in Chichester and decided to drop in here after my wife saw it mentioned in "The Peoples Friend " magazine. Dropped in for a coffee and decided to stay for lunch. My wife uses a wheelchair and was pleasantly surprised that there was a lift to the first floor. Sat outside with lovely views of the marina. Staff were friendly but professional. Will definitely come back in the New Year. Thank you.

It was booked for a private 30th birthday party. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the paella was superb. Highly recommended.

I visit the Deck couple times per month, never been disappointed. Great atmosphere, delicious food and always different specialities with amazing service.

We are lucky to have such a lovely restaurant and bar in the marina. Service is personal, friendly and flexible. custom menu and does cater for vegan dining. Has both inside and outside dining with great views of the marina.

Nice place. Would visit again but nothing special

Lovely location, not been for years seen to and served drinks right away but disappointed with long wait to take order food fairly quick to come out though. A prawn and salmon salad which was overwhelmed with lettuce and only one slither of cucumber which I would have expected more of as it was stated on the menu. Overall disappointing for a main meal cost.

Excellent food and staff are so welcoming a pleasure to vist second time there really enjoyed the atmosphere being to leisurely have a drink no rush to order so enjoyable.

The Deck was the place to go for a delicious and extra special breakfast. They had the usual breakfast plus extras such as eggs Benedict or Royal. Delicious. Turned up this week - all I can say is - if I wanted a greasy spoon breakfast I would have gone to a road side cafe!! Super setting and the staff are just wonderful. Such a shame but I can’t in all honesty recommend The Deck as a place to go to anymore.

Great fish and chips (gluten free). Small portion and mine was a bit overdone but beautifully presented on fab mushy peas (fresh garden peas lightly crushed). A little pricey.

This was my fourth visit to The Deck and I enjoyed the ambience outside and the lovely views (shame about the wasp attacks, but that's not the fault of the restaurant!). Wine was good, waitresses were cheerful. Service was a bit on the slow side due to the kitchen being very small, but it was holiday so didn't matter. My husband really enjoyed the vegetarian aubergine dish and I had the fish and chips which was pretty good, although surprisingly the fish wasn't quite as fresh as you'd expect by the sea. Chips were nice enough but you don't get many of them. We shared a warm chocolate brownie with some rather melted ice-cream - it was good but perhaps a tad expensive for what it was. Overall a very pleasant experience with one or two small niggles, but will definitely return.

We visited The Deck for bottomless brunch as a group of 10 for a hen do. We had a lovely welcome with a glass of bubbles waiting for the bride. The food was lovely and definitely helped lined the stomachs for the 2hours of unlimited Prosecco!! Kate was really attentive, nothing was too much trouble, and she checked on us/topped us up frequently. I’m sure we will all be visiting The Deck again soon!

Been a while since we visited the Deck but it is as good as ever. We weren't disappointed. Friendly welcome and service throughout, excellent menu and delicious food. A definite must visit if you're in the area and will be back in the future.

We had our wedding reception here and Kate and her team were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The setting, the food (thanks Luke for a great menu) and the attentive service made for a perfect evening. 👏🥰

Lovely food! Service was slow but we were advised about that as soon as we sat down by the lovely person who showed us to our seats. We struggled to attract attention to pay the bill .

We feel lucky to have found "The Deck" as only recently living in this locality. Dined here several times in the last couple of weeks for Brunch, Lunch and also Thai Evening last Friday. We love the seafood + generous portions. Our recent fabulous sunny weather may have influenced our perception but it was a pleasure dining at The Deck for Italy based friends visiting the area and also local friends/ residents in Emsworth area. Not The Ritz but neither are the prices and the young Staff try so hard to make your visit an enjoyable experience. Nice Wine List also. Well done 'new' Team Deck 👏♥️👏

We came from Brighton to meet our friends from Salisbury. We were looked after by Kate. Looking after people in restaurants and retail outlets is a skill set not many people have. Kate has those skills in spades. The food was excellent, well cooked and well presented. Our friends are hoteliers and restaurant owners and they were very pleased. It's a great location and I would thoroughly recommend. We will be going again.

We were served all 7 Thai dinner courses at the same time and it was going cold as we ate. We were only there for an hour duee to this. We expected to have a nice relaxed dinner. Should serve the starters first and then the mains. Food was good but could have done with more sauce in the dishes as a bit dry. If the food was spread out more we would have had more drinks. 10% service charge should be optional as we normally leave cash.

Been here on Sunday 28/05/23 . We had a fantastic breakfast and lovely service,my wife and kids loved the food,I can honestly recommend this cafe to anyone and they wouldn’t be disappointed. Thank you for your great service.

My wife & I visited for lunch, not realising it overlooks a working marina that is in no way picturesque. The deck itself is set above a gravel road used by forklifts, so expect dust if it's dry weather, and the crunch & growl of their engines. Our starters (oysters) arrived more than 20minutes after we took our seats. Our mains arrived over a hour after we'd sat... I had a burger & my wife had a bowl of prawns. You decide if those meals should take that long. At least the staff were friendly and professional.

Just disappointed to be charged a 10%service charge on two coffees. I would have thought £3.40 per coffee is enough but a total of £7.70 for two incl service charge is a bit naughty! Something we have yet to experience but that may just the...

Lovely cafe/restaurant. Easy to book and great brunch menu. It was pouring with rain on our visit so we didn’t get the chance to enjoy the balcony but we will definitely be back in the summer!

Nice location on the upper deck overlooking the marina. This restaurant has a tight menu of classic mains and desserts with a good selection of brunch items. Veggie options available. My full English was good and the tempura battered cod light and crispy. Good range of drinks including alcohols.

Very disappointing. Billed as brunch, yet serves only one main course. So no cereals, fruit juices or fruit, porridge options, no pastries, no toast. But heh, you can have Prosecco! Needs to improve the breakfast, which is not very much to ask.

Not enough table staff was left waiting more than half an hour to see desserts menu. Had to call someone over then had to go bar to pay bill. Shame next table to us also had long waiting time.

Nice coffee, although I ordered oat milk with my coffee and was initially given cows milk, I did notice this and luckily I do not have an allergy only a personal choice.

Love this restaurant. We have friends here and we love coming here when we visit. The Deck never disappoints. We were at the local night and the food and the service were excellent. Our friends have already booked for the Tapas Night.

Service was very slow, a large party was prioritised before us even though we arrived sooner, and there was lots of content being taken for social media which we found very intrusive. I know this seems acceptable these days but we felt very uncomfortable regular we were trying to eat! We wanted more drinks but our glasses were taken without being asked if we wanted anything else. We won’t be returning which is such a shame as the quality of the food was good. I did send a feedback email but got no reply which I felt says a lot.

10/10 my partner said it was the best brunch ever! She didn't even come up for air, or to talk, which is a win in my book 😂.

Oh my goodness what can I say. Visited here twice in the week. Came for a lovely birthday breakfast which was just lovely accompanied by a glass of Prosecco. Whilst we were there we read about their Locals Night event on the Friday and they managed to get a table for 2 booked for us. The ambience is just lovely. The staff are delightful and attentive. The food out of this world and I am really fussy with my food. I can't wait to come back. Can we give 11 out of 10. Superb.

Visited today after a break of about 6 years, roast beef was exceptional and pudding was out of this world, All spoilt by the cost of the wine £12.50 a glass! Will come back for the food, ambiance and staff but won’t be drinking wine.

So disappointing 😞. One of the ladies serving was grumpy , abrupt and didn't seem to want to be there at all. She virtually threw our menus on the table and didn't smile or make eye contact. The two main dishes on the menu we fancied weren't available so we were left with fish or breakfast. No one had mentioned this when we sat down and ordered drinks . They didn't even have our booking recorded on their tablet. We decided to leave after our drinks unfortunately and go elsewhere. Luckily the other waitress was very sweet and apologetic. I can't contact the Deck direct through email unfortunately as they don't seem to have a system that allows this on their website so I've resorted to this. I've been there many times but I don't feel like going back. What a shame....

Lovely staff and atmosphere. A gem of a cafe and I have been back since. The cooked breakfast was to die for. Excellent quality food. 3 hours free parking once you register your vehicle inside the cafe too.

Sailed in Terror, an oyster boat from 1890. Celebrated with again afterwards. Cycled here, although the route is not traffic free, and the footpath could helpfully be upgrades to a surfaced bridleway.

Really lovely staff, location and decor but I would not recommend for vegetarians! I had a very disappointing tomatoes, mushroom, vegan feta and spinach on toast here. Its was extremely dry, had hardly any flavour and the spinach was not fresh. Why not add some herbs and spices? A tasty dressing? Just because its vegan doesn't mean it needs to be boring.

Popped in on the off chance of a coffee and they were very obliging and fitted us in before the main dinner run started. The menu did look nice and we hope to eat there before the end of our holiday.

Just had a wonderful meal in this lovely restaurant. Lots of sea food and other options available on the menu. Of particular note were the mussels. So fresh, and plump and lovely. Spectacular view of the marina- while we ate. The staff are so pleasant ..friendly and polite. If you are somewhere around, it's a great place to visit!

Very pleasant dining. The restaurant is very bright and spacious, with a lovely view of the harbour. The food was tasty and very nicely presented and the staff very attentive. I would certainly recommend. The only minor criticism is that the seats could have been a little bit softer.

Beautifull place to eat but food slightly on the light side In terms of quantity, for example you only get a tea spoon of beans I counted 16 beans with my breakfast, not that I useually count my beans but you get my drift.

Sorry! Great location but slow Sunday service and poor food. Tempura Fish & home cooked chips overcooked and dried out. If food is going to be a while let the punters know at outset rather than leaving them clock watching. Not again I’m afraid!

Excellent, fresh seafood and the food is beautifully presented. Had birthday dinner here and chose scallops as starter, perfectly complimented by chorizo and other flavours: main course of fresh, locally caught plaice was delicious too. Overall a lovely meal with elegant presentation and well matched flavours. Would recommend if you are in the area.
