The Deck in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Had booked in advance , but when I got there they had mixed up my booking with another person, I showed them my booking confirmation and I finally got the table … it was busy bit the staff were rude .. my salad wasn’t fresh , my wine was warm .. I asked for a bottle of water twice … huffing at me . Wasn’t happy at all , they look down on people too

The burger I had was outstanding by far the best in Bude the staff were funny and kind will be coming again👍

Recommended by An Mor to come and try out this place. It didn’t disappoint. Amazing food. Great service. Skewers were great.

Been meaning to try the Deck for a while given how highly rated it is. They fitted us in booking on the day, on a busy Saturday evening. We each had a burger and a shared the vegetable and halloumi skewer. The food was tasty and good value, and the service was very good. Would definitely come back if we were with children, but we found the menu a bit limited, and I think there are probably better options in the town for a party of adults.

Called in earlier in the week, but all tables were booked so made a booking for this evening, particularly after reviewing the reviews on Trip Adviser.

Arrived at The Edgcumbe on a Sunday and had pre booked at The Deck to eat that evening. As before the food and service are excellent and very reasonably priced, and it's always busy which speaks for itself, a great place to eat.

Been here a couple of times great food and dog friendly in bar area. I had the seafood skewer with a side order of chips and salad. It was more than i could eat. After six there is parking on the road

We stayed at the hotel & ate at the restaurant (the deck) one evening & it was the best meal we’ve had in or out for ages. The ribs were the best Ive ever had & my wife’s lobster & steak was lovely.

The place is absolutely incredible with delicious dishes cooked fresh and the ribs to die for. It is one of the best places to eat in anywhere in the world! And I have been to a few!!!

The skewers are The Deck's speciality, and the vegetarian option, along with great vegetarian sides (roasted corn, peppers, sweet potato fries, etc) are excellent. This is a place where being a veggie does not feel like you are a poor relation.

Dropped into the deck just for a drink one lunch time, Very nice views and sitting outside, the menu looked good so we booked for Dinner the following evening.

I went with my family for my niece's 16th birthday. I had the ribs which were so soft and delicious. the meat feel off the bones. The serving are larges and the chips and slaw served with them were delicious too.

Dinner last night with visiting family and as we live fairly locally we were very surprised we hadn’t found The Deck before. Nice welcome from staff who explained how the restaurant works - you have to order food and drinks yourself at the bar. We chose chicken and beef burgers, ribs and the deck platter. All came beautifully presented and hot. Never normally choosing desserts we made an exception for the churros which were unbelievably good. Would definitely recommend but do book, it was busy even for a Monday night.

I have been here twice when visiting cornwall. Great food, great staff and great customer service. Always recommend this place to family or friends when visiting cornwall.

Visited here on the 31st May after seeing the good responses on trip advisor and it didn’t disappoint, the food all came out together perfectly and it was soooo good, I had the steak, wife had mussels and the kids had burgers, would definitely recommend and will definitely come again next time we are in Bude Such a relaxed family atmosphere .

These guys have really got it sussed. The quality of the food is great the choices are tempting and the end product is mouth-wateringly delicious. Try the kids' portion of mussels - plenty for two in a creamy, garlic sauce! Then the steaks, ribs or burgers; or even the hanging skewers of prawn and chicken all cooked to perfection. prices are correct and the atmosphere is jolly and relaxed.

Staff are amazing! Great atmosphere even better food with such a warm and genuine welcome. Very clean and comfortable rooms with great sea views. A true gem. ❤️

Booked in advance, and glad we did, as no way would we have got in on a Saturday night. Friendly welcome and everything explained. You make your choices from an excellent menu and then order yourself at the bar. All the food comes at once, so no starters. I went for a seafood skewer (prawns, monkfish, calamari and octopus) with skinny fries and my husband had a surf and turf skewer with chunky chips. Pudding was dark chocolate mousse for me and chilli chocolate brownie for my husband. We didn't leave a thing. Atmosphere was great and loved the restaurant decor. I think they stop serving food at 21:00, so make sure you take this into consideration when booking.

Visiting family in Marhamchurch. Usually go to Lifes a beach but was disappointed when visited for lunch so charged our minds and booked here. Arrived at 5 o'clock and was greeted very enthusiastically. Seated at reserved table in the window. Specials and how to order explained. You are provided with paper and pencil and order from the bar. Great idea. Food delivered was well presented, well cooked and delicious. The rack of ribs was large! The skewers on other tables looked good, will return and try next time. Steak and fish also ordered. Lovely decked seating to the front looked very inviting with good views and sunny. Free parking on street and a few to the front of property.

We went to the Deck whilst staying with friends near Bude. Fabulous restaurant, great food, great atmosphere, lovely staff, great service. I would definitely recommend a visit and will definitely be going back.

What a gem this place is, I had the rack of ribs which was amazing, super juicy and fall of the bone with fresh cut chilli's on top.

The food here is presented with a great deal of consideration to presentation with tall skewers of hanging roasted veg/meat and boards of massive portions of ribs. As well as the theatre the food was really tasty. The host was lovely and friendly and happily accommodated our large family (consisting of three young children). We'll definitely be coming back.

Soo much food we were all willing to walk in the pouring rain back to the hotel to make some room. Definitely have the churros 😋

5 of us enjoyed a relaxing drink in the bar, prior to eating in the conservatory. We chose a variety of meals including the legendary ribs which I thoroughly enjoyed, hanging kebabs and fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we had a great night.

Firstly must mention the staff/service. Outstanding! Couldn’t be better! Very accommodating, can’t do enough for you.

What a fantastic meal to start the review, a true taste explosion for all four of us, the dessert menu was just too good to pass on after already being full from the meal it was so delicious we made the room! Staff were super friendly, lovely atmosphere and I noticed every single environmentally friendly touch from the paper straws to ace toilet roll. Make sure to go, you won't be disappointed :-)

Friendly staff! Food is amazing! Have been there on several occasions now and the standard of food never let's you down! I will sorry they do the best Beef ribs I have ever tasted, they just melt in your mouth.

I went with my family Wednesday 17th April 2019. So 5 of us. You MUST book in advance. But it is worth it. The food we got looked just like the web site photos. That was a first. The taste was amazing. The staff were brilliant. We ordered across the board and all was delicious. The cost was very good for a hungry family of 5. Age range - 11yrs, 15yrs, 19yrs plus Mum and Dad 50's. Everyone enjoyed it. I look forward to my next visit. Beautiful views from our table. These views are at every table in the restaurant.

Booked a table here during out stay at Widemouth Bay having seen it came reccomended on TripAdvisor.

Friendly welcome, excellent service and delicious food. Our surf and turf hanging skewers and generous helpings of skinny and sweet potato chips were so good and reasonably priced as was my Cornish Lager !! We would happily recommend The Deck to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.

We visited The Deck last time we stayed in Bude and made it our first port of call for when we returned this time round.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere at this seafront restaurant. We were seated quickly on a Wednesday evening despite not having booked and were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The fish and chips were excellent; a generous portion of fish goujons and chunky chips, with a side of chilli-mint peas - would definitely recommend this dish! Other dishes we saw being brought to tables looked fantastic too, including some very tempting desserts, which I would have tried myself if I hadn’t been snacking all day!

Friendly service, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere and good value. Perfect for a family night out! Have eaten here many times and never disappointed! Thank you

Had a lovely meal here. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and given loads of details of what to do. The food was lovely, really tender perfectly cooked and I’d highly recommend, the st. ives gin was lovely too and the extra touches of kids games set by an amazing sunset was just brilliant. I’d definitely come back again and have no hesitation in recommending. Definitely worth a visit.

The rump steak is superb - a small menu, but judging by its popularity with the locals, everything on it is worth eating! Very busy, but service is spot on.

Never been here before and, it has to be said, we’ll be back again. Great, welcoming staff sat us in The Snug - a really chilled vibe - and we chose from the extensive menu. Everything, from the cod bites, to the ribs, to the steak and hanging skewers, was perfect.

Called in to see if there was a table available immediately, the very pleasant staff member offered us one in the nook which we accepted. We ordered the mussels for me, and the chicken and chorizo skewer for my husband. Absolutely delicious on both counts, and I was unable to finish as the portion was extremely generous. A busy and popular place so essential to book, and the sunset was amazing.

Rack of ribs were incredible, melt in the mouth, fell of the bone. Deck Catch of the Day was delicious and not greasy at all. Fish cooked perfectly, was lovely and flaky.

We are 3 very well travelled friends we ate at the deck tonight. We had an amazing evening. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating customer service is spot on. The food is fantastic best meal we have had in years !!! Throughly deserves its no.1 rating well done the deck keep up the good work we will defo be coming back xxx

Treated the other half to a meal here, was his first visit but my 3/4th. As always service was warm and welcoming , staff attentive without being overbearing. Menu slightly updated since my last visit but all my favourites still there and they always have a great specials board on the go. Food presented beautifully as always and tasted even better than it looked. We will be back!

On a few days holiday in Bude. Found The Deck Bistro. Fabulous place, friendly helpful staff, I'm Gluten Free as I have Coeliac disease to eat here 2as no problem, I had the mackerel as a main and GF brownie for dessert. Excellent . We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Thank you.

Went last night for my birthday with the girlfriend and kids service was amazing food was unbelievable had the steak and fries with a side of tiger king prawns and charred corn and every single bit of it was amazing the steak melted in my mouth and my mouth is watering now writing this review thinking of it wish we lived closer as would be a regular here amazing place

Here in Bude for the weekend and after some research on TA decided to visit this restarant. Firstly loved all the twinkly lights and great vibe in the restaurant / bar. Great warm friendly welcome from Emma who showed us to our table and explained order process. Place order at bar and food arrives altogether so we had prawns and calamari along with seafood kebab, fish and chips. Loved it all but unfortunately no room for dessert. We needed our evening having a drink in the bar and felt very welcomed by all th locals. Thanks Emma and team for a great night.

Went to The Deck for a birthday celebration. The party was 4 and our Dog. We were welcomed and accommodated at a comfortable table. Talked through the menu and served drinks. The food was fantastic, the skewers exceeded expectations, and Sammie that looked after our table was knowledgeable in the menu as well as local attractions and history. All round excellent experience, highly recommended

Unfussy, great service, great food and mouth watering desserts. The beers is good, the wine is good and the service excellent. prices are also good. We always make a date with the Deck when we go to Bude. I could not imagine not having a meal there with friends when we visit. I always seem to have the rack of ribs, despite feeling I ought to try others. My wife goes for the hanging rack of spicy prawns ....

Myself and my fiancée was staying at East Thorne which is near by, upon researching venues to have a valentine meal, we came across the deck. This was a great decision. We had a table booked for 6pm but ended up arriving early at 5.20pm. There was no issue in accommodating us early. We were sat down in a nice seat.

Amazing atmoshpere, lovely staff, excellent quality of service and food.. such an interesting choice from the menu! MUSSELS are superb and Churros are to die for! Really recommended

Was staying in Bude for the weekend with my husband and had a look for gluten free places to eat. See some lovely reviews for The Deck so thought we would try it. Short walk from the caravan and hey presto. We were so lucky to get a table as managed to get the last walk-in one. I loved the menu but had to try and decide what to have with all the choice. I went for the steak burger and changed the fries to chunky chips. Wow. I did ask for chips on the side but was told we wouldn’t need them and we definitely didn’t. The meal was so tasty and fresh it was one of the best meals I have had out ever! Now planning our next trip to Bude just to be able to go here again.

You must must eat here if you are in Bude. Fabulous food. Fabulous owners and staff. Chilled place that caters for all age groups. It is simply the best meal I’ve eaten out for a long time. I can’t wait to go back

Very unassuming, this place is fantastic in every way. From the owners and staff to the delicious food, everything is just perfect. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

We have just finished an amazing meal here, and I felt the need to write a review straight away to shout out how amazing it is!! First of all, the owners are so lovely and friendly, it’s such a great atmosphere! And.... the fooooddd!! The food was absolutely insane!!! We all ordered skewers with sides, and our jaws definitely dropped when they arrived at the table, they tasted just as amazing as they looked! All 4 of us agreed it’s the best food we’ve had in ages and such great value for the amazing quality!! I’d definitely recommend the seafood skewer- it was delish and the fish was so fresh!!!! They also cater so well for gluten free too! Thank you so much and we hope to come back again soon!!

On a cold, wet and windy evening in December there was nothing better than a visit to The Deck in Bude.

This was the best birthday meal me and the family have had in a long time. your always greeted with a smile. the food was exceptional. I can only praise the ladies for making this a special night. we will be back. thank you Gill H

Visited early evening, after battling through the wind and rain to get there. Was greeted with a very warm welcome, from staff whom made us feel like we had known them for years. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty - and good portion sizes. The menu has a good variety, with sides and dips to compliment your meal. Overall a very enjoyable experience, and we will definitely return to sample more of the menu. Thanks guys, we had a lovely time.

It was May and very busy, the staff still managed a smile. It was a cross section of ages but the menu appeared to satisfy all. Not 5 star, but still good value. Well prepared, hot and good service

My wife an I stayed at the lovely Edgcumbe Hotel for 5 nights, and ate in the Deck restaurant on two nights. Excellent menu choice, freshly cooked choices, served in a pleasant dining room or conservatory with views over the harbour and dunes. Friendly staff and good value.

If you are in Bude, you have to visit the Deck.... ! Great food and amazing service... you won’t be disappointed! Make sure you book, it is clearly very popular and for good reason!

Went to The Deck on the last night of our stay in Bude. Just as well as we may not have gone anywhere else, and there are other good places to eat, but this was our favourite.

Staying at a Hotel not too far away and didn't fancy eating there the second night. Called in very late notice to The Deck and managed to grab an early doors table. Off the wall, quirky dinner with a menu forged from the Owners previous trips to the Med, east & downunder. No waitress service. Just order everything at the Bar.

Fantastic. We cannot fault this place in anyway. The food was fantastic, the service was great. Will definitely be visiting again before we go home.

We had dinner at the Deck on Saturday, it was excellent. The food and dining environment were good, but what made the evening were the excellent staff. They were helpful, friendly and enthusiastic. We will definitely go back.

Went for a birthday meal last night, surprised to see a full restaurant in off season, only a good sign in my book! My burger was lovely, my folks had the surf and turf skewer, steak was tender and fish and chips, all round great atmosphere and food.... perhaps only slight improvement could be table service? Obviously not done for a reason, would definitely return....

Stayed at The Edgcumbe for 3 nights ate at The Deck 2. Both times the food was delicious and the service second to none. 1st night I had the duck breast a large portion delicately spiced, the 2nd night I had the Mussels in Lime Ginger and Chlli best mussels I have had and the sauce really did need some bread it had a kick but not too much. My friends shared the Churros with 3 yummy dipping suces. A great selection on the menu and really struggled with what to order as wanted to try it all. Warning if you don't book you just might be disappointed it is very popular. Atmosphere great, nice bar area and in the summer of course a lovely Deck

Due to stormy weather hotel we were staying in had to shut the kitchen.So by chance booked table for two. Becky is someone else,the staff are so good, atmosphere relaxed(liked the kissing corner).Book early seems a must, service good food good.

The ribs are amazing and my wife had the surf and turf skewers which were just as good. So much do we booked for the next evening as well. Definitely if you visit Bude a must place for food.

Right from the outset felt extremely welcome, very friendly family run business. Food was amazing, excellent value for money but also very high quality and beautifully presented. Perfect spot to watch the sunset over Summerleaze beach. Restaurant is our favourite place in Bude. Can't wait to come back again!

We visited the Deck in June 2018, fabulous food & service. We had our dog with us, so sat in the bar area (before the heatwave, or we would have sat outside)! For a Birthday meal I tried to book for 4 people (plus dog) for Tues 2/10. Unfortunately there are no tables for 4 in the bar any longer!! Very disappointed.

Our second time in the Deck and it was excellent all round, the welcome, service and great food, quick service and you are not rushed to leave after your meal just relax

Lovely food and great atmosphere the kids loved it as did we. Very friendly. Will definatly be visiting again when we travel to Bude :)

Went to the Deck after reading reviews on trip adviser and we wasn’t disappointed the food was lovely all the staff were very friendly and very professional I had the chicken and chorizo skewer with garlic butter and fat chips and my husband had the steak both meals were very nice and very large portions so didn’t have room for desserts but they did look very nice we would definitely go again you do need to book

From the outside we were unsure as to whether this was the place for us but booked anyway. What a wonderful surprise. The hosts were really friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the seafood hanging skewer with a lemon and garlic sauce - oh so delicious and what a huge portion. Lovely happy atmosphere and fabulous food. What more could you want.

Really enjoyed the hanging skewered kebabs. Different to other restaurants, more casual. NO STARTERS Order food and drinks at the bar. Not for anyone looking for waitress service. Advise booking

Definitely worth a visit if you are in Bude. Casual restaurant style service, FABULOUS staff and food. The ribs were excellent, great choice of sides, and yummy deserts. Even the little dudes cheese burger with vegetables was fab! By far the best children’s meal we have found for our little fella. Very happy customers, with very full bellies!

Me and my family dropped in last minute and the owner was brilliant . We had a great meal and the manager was on hand to help and explain the menu. Ribs were excellent. Cant recommend enough.

We had a very warm welcome from the staff at The Deck, and they were very helpful with their knowledge of the menu. The friendly staff were very patient with our food and drink order and we had a lovely view from the conservatory window. The skewers that we ordered were unique and delicious, we would have happily gone back the next day to have them again. Definitely a "must go" restaurant in Bude.

My partner and I were on our 7th day of travelling around Cornwal. As this was going to be our 'last supper' we wanted it to be a good one. We'd had a look around Bude earlier in the day but couldn't decide on where to go. It was only by chance when we googled 'places to eat' that we found this place...but so glad we did!

The Deck is quite unique. From the way it presents its menus to the food that is offered. a relaxed dining experience with none of the formality found in other places. This was just what was needed for our evening out with friends. I'm not always fond of food not being presented to me on a plate as it can often seem pretentious and unnecessary. But the way it was done here was perfect. It was in keeping with the food and ambience of the venue. My wife had a surf and turf hanging skewer, our friends had burgers and I had the deck board. All of the food tasted as good as it looked. The deck board was served on a small lazy Susan and worked really well with the four dishes on it. Not even the power cuts spoiled the evening, and the window seat in the conservatory had a fabulous view over Bude and we could enjoy a stunning sunset while we ate and chatted.

My boyfriend and I visited The Deck last week whilst on holiday in Bude. The food was amazing! We both had the skewers and were not disappointed! Probably best to book a table as it was fully booked for the evening. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend!

We ate at the deck whilst staying in Bude for a long weekend - the food was unbelievable. Fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The deck has a really friendly & chilled atmosphere. I couldn’t recommend it anymore & we got to eat our food whilst the babies slept! What more could you ask for!

Whilst staying at the Edgcumbe we dined in at The Deck on one of the nights, having dined here previously we had a good idea of what to expect. As before the food is expertly cooked, hanging skewers, calamari, squid and burgers etc... All elements were delicious and the service friendly and efficient. A great evening all round.

What a great place! Staff are fantastic, relaxed and mega helpful. Food is outstanding! Huge on flavour - the ribs are the best I've ever had by a mile! Great beer too. If you're in Bude don't miss this place.
