Busy yet didn't have to wait long for service. Enormous portions. Pies are amazing. Chocolate sponge very good - real chocolate sauce too!

We stayed locally and visited with our Cockerpoo. It was actually a pleasant and warm day, so we sat outside. Very busy around lunchtime midweek inside with diners. Looks like a popular pub for food. Great range of beers/ales at reasonable prices. Very nice/friendly staff.

We go to this premise regularly and have always found the food to be excellent, the hospitality to be second to non and the atmosphere to be warm friendly and the team extremely professional in dealing with customers in a busy fast turnaround environment and Saturday this week was no exception. The team were a credit to Mark and Anna’s vision for running a great Gastro pub.

This place is the best around! The food was unbelievably good pub food. Portions huge - that much so they don't offer starters so cost is reasonable for what you get too! Great selection of drinks. The perfect meal - very authentic British pub with exceptional food

Amazing steak and ale pie, with chips and loads of vegetables. Had a lovely corner nook which was perfect for a lunch get together with friends. Excellent range of ales.

Fabulous pub , amazing food. This family owned and run pub ticks all the boxes. We celebrated Mother’s Day here and were made to feel very welcome and served delicious food. The staff are friendly and professional and the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. Well worth a visit .

Meals were great and pub is a lovely place. However, being constantly reminded and hurried to order due to next booking at table just spoils what could be a nice and relaxing evening out.

Fabulous polite friendly staff, lovely food, freshly cooked. Cosy. Real fire in the winter. Seating outside for the lovely summer nights. With outside heater for when it goes cooler. We love this pub , it’s our once a week or more treat.

Beautiful Sunday lunch 4/1. I had the beef my husband had the pork. All my favourite veg, cabbage green beans, carrots and cauli cheese. If I could afford to eat here every night I would. Lovely friendly staff, young and well trained. Best place around for Sunday lunch and always busy,

Food is always brilliant. Mixed grill or peri peri chicken (hot is an understatement) are my recommendations. Suggest you book in advance.

Love it here. Been here for 30 years - used to be my father in laws local and has such a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend the food. Perfect hosts. The Crown is by far one of the best pubs for meals- you will not be disappointed!

Family party of 5 celebrating an 80th birthday. The best home cooked meals for many a mile! The steak pie is always the firm favourite, but yesterday there were 4 different meals and each one equally delicious & high quality as always. All piping hot. Staff were attentive, excellent service. We have been going here since our ‘courting days’ almost 40 years ago & so wonderful that it is still going strong and still as fabulous! Well done to Mark and the team 😀

Only started visiting The Crown during the last couple of months after hearing excellent reports from friends. I now understand what all the fuss is about and it's quickly become one of our favourites. Its probably underselling the place to call it 'pub grub' because the food and service is up to the standard of any decent restaurant, except here you can also get a decent pint. Whether you're a pie person or not you must try their beef pie - best we've had anywhere. In fact when we last visited on Christmas Eve all six adults in the group ordered the pie. This is not to suggest that all the other meals aren't equally top notch. Will we visit again? - don't be daft, we all love the place.

the pub is lovely and a great cozy interior, however the food was extremely underwhelming. The menu was not great and the food was worse . I ordered the sea bass it came out cold and the sauce it was in tasted like blended up fish and cream . i couldn’t possibly finish this . the menu wasn’t good as there wasn’t a good choice or selection of food . When going to a pub you expect it to be pub food however it is the opposite. Don’t waste your time going here . not worth it

What a lovely welcome. We have not been for a while but the welcome was great, very friendly and genuine. We had a lovely meal, the choices were excellent. We had pie, pheasant, scampi, and turkey, all great choices and all the plates were emptied. A lovely ambience. All the staff were great, and all very pleasant. I drank wine, but the other half had beer and he said it was a great pint. All in all a great night. Thank you all at the Crown.

Three of us came here for my birthday meal and some of us tried a couple of things from the Christmas menu ( the pheasant main and Christmas mess dessert were both exceptional) Every course, was just excellent as always and the whole experience, food service and atmosphere was faultless. This is always consistently a great place to eat and drink and I can’t recommend highly enough.

We all went to the Crown at Wrinehill last night for a family Christmas meal. There was twelve of us. All I can say is a massive Thank You. The food was delicious especially the dessert. All the food came out together and was piping hot. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Fantastic evening. I highly recommend

Immediatly welcomed by an extremely nice polite waitress and shown to our table. The establishment was warm and had a good atmosphere. There is no table service but this didn’t seem to detract myself or others. At the bar drinks were quickly poured,again by a very pleasant gentleman and food orders taken. The meals were very well presented hot,tasty and amount suitable for any diner, in fact extremely good. Would highly recommend.

I didn't have room for dessert, but couldn't resist the home made bakewell tart so had to share one and can recommend that too! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. If we lived closer, we'd definitely return! Thanks to all at The Crown for a great evening 😀

What's not to like? Real ale and good food served in a convivial atmosphere. The food was excellent with a wide choice, same with the ales, something for everyone with taste.

The best roast beef I've ever had. We went as a family (including a 6 and 3 year old). Everyone had a great time. Plenty of choice for gluten free and vegetarians alike. There's also a very good children's menu.

Lovely traditional pub off the beaten track. I had the fish and chips which was far too big for me and I have to say the best fish and chips I have had in a longtime. The one big problem is it is not in easy comute to my house, if it was I would be here at least once oer week.

Impromptu visit. Fitted us in. Lovely & warm by the fire. Great steak, cooked as reqstd, pie ample meat...all in all, a gr8 meal...will defo return 👍

Roast beef dinner was tasteless beef thin cut and chewy and food wasn't hot Aberdeen angus beef burger was no better than mcdonald's very over priced .so were the desserts

Used to come here 40 years ago when Charlie first brought it and started coming again this last 2 years and I must say it’s my favourite pub around the area Staff, food and atmosphere is second to none really recommend it

Food and service are excellent although, like most places now, on the pricey side. Pity as we would go more often if a few pounds was taken off everything. Parking can be horrendous at peak times.

We visited as a family reunion. The choices on the menu were great, meaning all our needs were met! As it was a Sunday, l has the traditional roast beef and it was honestly the best beef l have tasted since a child. All products are locally sourced. The others had the gammon, the steak and Stilton pie and fish and chips. All were excellent and my lot are fussy eaters! The service was amazing 👏, staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent choice of beers etc. It's essential to book, especially at busy times. This place was highly recommended by a friend and it certainly exceeded expectations. Thank you all for your dedicated service.

We’d been meaning to go to the Crown for ages but for some reason hadn’t. I wish we had! We sat down for lunch, food was served really quickly and it was completely delicious. Every ingredient seemed well sourced, high quality and cooked with precision and care. It was honest pub grub but done extremely well. Genuinely one of the best meals we’ve had in ages. There’s also really good beer, a lovely friendly atmosphere and great staff. Can’t wait to go back. 10/10!!!

What an outstanding place to visit. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was incredible.. the whole experience was fantastic.. and the food… the best ever. The steak on the mixed grill was the best I’ve ever had, the fish and chips was the best we’d ever had, the whole family loved all of their meals. Had a rich fish filled fish pie with smooth mash and a cheese topping. Delicious. My wife had lambs liver with red wine. Mash and veg were tasty and nicely cooked. Good selection of ales and ciders. I'm definitely going back.

This was our first visit and certainly won't be our last! The food was exceptional with lovely generous portions and lots of choices on the menu. The staff were very professional and friendly and were very patient with us even though one of our party was held up due to road conditions meaning we were late ordering.

Quaint and homely village pub. Parking can be a drama but there is an overspill a short walk from the pub. Great food, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Really nice 'English pub' vibe. Able to accommodate larger parties if you phone ahead.

We arrived here yesterday hoping to get some dinner on our journey back to Somerset from alton towers with two very hungry, very tired teenagers. Sadly they were fully booked, however after using the facilities on our return to the car we noticed that they had a beer farmer and asked if we would be able to eat outside? They were more than happy to accommodate this and so we chose our meals and orderd at the bar. Everything was brought to the table I'm good tike, excellent service. The food was delicious and fresh. The girls wolfed down their Lasagna and salads, my partner enjoyed his mixed grill which was very tasty and I was more than happy with my fish cakes & salad 😊👍😋 Great food, very friendly welcome, would def come here again of only we lived closer!

Lovely country pub - amazing food! Booking a must ! Family run pub with a good menu choice - we have tried the Piri piri chicken skewers, steak and ale pie, gammon , lasagna , baked chicken breast all amazing! Food is all locally sourced and of a very high standard. From the moment you walk in you can sense the friendly atmosphere which is greeted to you by the owner who is usually behind the bar right through to the waiting on staff. Definitely will visit many times in the future.

Just had a meal here and it was absolutely awful, although my husbands meal was OK ,for me it was the worst meal I have had anywhere, my burger just cost £19.00 and had to send it back due to blood coming out and covering the roll, when they brought it back i think it had been microwaved (including lettuce)until it was like rubber with absolutely no taste whatsoever ,as I'm in the catering business myself and sell lovely quarter pound burgers for £4.50 ,I expected a little more for my money ,no onion rings, no coleslaw, no side salad and frozen chips !!,it was terrible, we did notice that the price's have increased quite a lot ( very expensive).!!! We have been going here for over 20 years but unfortunately we will not be returning again as there are places must better and cheaper!!

The online booking system is a complete waste of time. It let's you select a time and looks likes you are booked in and then you get an email to say you will get a call or email to confirm the booking. No call or email arrives so you have to ring them to be greeted with the online system makes things easier but it's something we are all getting used to. Wake up and get with the real world online booking has been around for years. You pick a time that's showing as available you book it and that' s it job done. Simple. If you can't manage online then don't offer it and if you say you are going to ring or email someone then do it. Customer service is a must these days if you want to keep in business!

Tried to go for a quick drink with our disabled grandmother and they couldn't even accomodate us for a drink at the bar and we had to leave

Everything about this establishment is superb. The staff were all very friendly, the food is very good, arrives in good time and is reasonoble priced. The only negative is that when I booked, I got asked to reply to the text message to confirm the reservation and my mobile phone provider charged this as a premium rate message so I got charged for it - watch out.
