High quality menu with interesting starters and one of the very best Sunday roasts that we’ve had in Hertfordshire. We will definitely be coming back to try the non-Sunday menu!

It was my first visit to the Cricketers, and it was very pleasant. We were attending a party in the upstairs room, which was nice and bright with a small bar area, and tables and chairs put out. Staff very friendly, and relaxed which helps to create a nice atmosphere. Would recommend the function room, also food very good and catered for different diet need's.

Lovely little local feel, nicely decorated and with great staff! The festive decorated pods were a very nice touch. 3 of us had a lovely time. You get loads for your money too, so super valur for money! The only reason I gave 4 for food and not 5 was the vegetarian main, whilst it was very lovely, it was the only veggie option other than a pizza. Sticky toffee pudding was a treat!

We wanted a light bite, so we all chose from their BAR Snacks Menu having first quizzed the very helpful member of staff as to how big the portions were! 3 of us chose fish and chips while the 4th member of our party had squid with a side potion of fries. The food was delicious, hot and well presented. 2 of us decided to have a dessert, but what a shame that there was no choice in the sizes of the desserts, which were colossal, and although delicious, we would much preferred to have been able to choose smaller portions with perhaps a coffee or tea as part of the deal.

My favourite pub in Redbourn by far, extremely welcoming staff and warm welcome from the owners if they are about, very involved and you can feel it in the atmosphere and the food, it's all very friendly, Delicous food, my vegan friends said that their vegetarian roast and burger were the best they'd ever had and I can vouch for the rest of the menu having eaten nearly everything of it! Love a little sandwich if you're not hungry or anything of the evening menu is a win. Beautiful restaurant if you want a less pub vibe, just book ahead if possible! And also a private venue room upstairs if you're a larger group or party, seriously would recommend a visit to this award winning country pub. Also very dog friendly!

Been going to this pub for 10 years without a disability blue badge! As soon as I arrived I was unwelcome and bullied for being disabled for parking on a double yellow line that I’m authorised to do so, then I was picked on for having a diesel car instead of an electric car after defending my disability I was told that my attitude wasn’t welcome after explaining why I’m disabled I was asked to prove my disability by the owner of the pub I asked to be left alone to finish my pint in peace and leave without feeling bullied and intimidated by customers, staff and the owner of this business. I’m gay too so obviously homophobic I suggest avoiding this business and go somewhere else! As a market research interviewer (mystery shopper) I’m Disgusted at the attitude, discrimination and homophobia at the cricketers at Redbourn the owner of this business should be ashamed of himself He shouldn’t be running a pub his Hospitality & customer service are shocking to say the least and he needs retraining to be customer focused. I won’t be recommending I’ll be telling everyone how shallow they are to pick on a gay disabled man

Lovely location but oh my goodness what a disappointment. Expensive to say the least and my bar snack was rubbish . Better sandwich from the co op. Estrella £6.40 a pint BLT on thin ( very thin) white bread but it was toasted so presumably stale white bread bought from the local shop. Just ordinary thin sliced bread with a small leaf salad and nachos not crisps. Very poor and at £7.95 I could have got a better sandwich from the co op. I’ve had Sunday lunch here and it was quite good albeit very pricey but this was nothing short of rubbish. If you want to toast the bread then put it on the menu or get some proper bread! Thin white is not good. The bar person was apologetic but that was that. Strange place

We were given one of the lovely outdoor pods for the occasion. Everything was beautifully set up. It was heated, had the facility to play our own music and a bell for service from the staff, which was both quick and efficient. The food was both well presented and cooked to perfection. I went for a Christmas do last week Thursday at The Cricketers because me and my friends love the atmosphere and the staff there, and we heard that the food is quite good there. We paid £15 per person (and it was about 20-25 of us) to book the upstairs area and get a selection of nibbles. The drinks were to be paid individually and on top of that price. I am speaking in the name of the whole group when I say that the experience was really disappointing. 1) We arrived there and were asked to go upstairs to our area. No one prepared the area or made it look nice. No decoration, tables laid out like in any normal day (rather than making an attempt to put 2 tables together so that we all could sit together), so we had to sit in different groups isolated from each other. 2) The room was booked from 7pm. By 9pm we had not gotten any of the nibbles. We were starving. I understand that it is a marketing strategy to delay the food so that people drink more or stay longer, but this was ridiculous. 3) When the nibbles came, they were terrible. I am not a fussy person when it comes to food, but the selection was: -Chicken wings (this was the best) -potato wedges (McDonald's ones are better) -fish cakes (the worst thing I have ever had) -onion rings -pizza. To give you an idea, the quality of the food did not even reach Tesco value. I believe it was from Aldi. Disgusting selection. I wish I had eaten before I left my house. The rest of the attendees agreed. 4) The desserts were brought before some of the savoury nibbles! So, some of us had the dessert and then when the pizza was brought we did not have the appetite for it anymore. 5) For about the first 2 to 2 and a half hours since the event started, we did not have any background music. On a positive note: - The staff were super nice and willing to help. - The room was big enough for all of us. It is really annoying having paid £15 for a terribly handled event with no effort put into it and with the lowest quality products/foods. I am giving 2 stars because 1) I have been there several times before for drinks (downstairs or outside) and it was nice. And 2) as I said, the staff were nice and helpful that night. Would I recommend The Cricketers? To go for drinks in a random day, yes. To have your Christmas party or any other event, definitely no. You better putting that money towards hiring a venue and going to Iceland and getting slightly better quality items and definitely cheaper alcohol.

Not the best to be honest. My partner and I went for a booked Sunday lunch. It was a combination of small things. Firstly made to stand around for 10 mins without any acknowledgement. Then the service was poor at best. When the food came the soup was nuked to blister lips level while my squid was adequate but small for the price tag. There was a head server walking round who looked liked he would rather be elsewhere and was doing you a favour. To the point where the table opposite us had asked for the bill. When he arrived with it a customer asked for a cup of tea. He then got upset saying I brought you the bill if you wanted a cup of tea you should of asked for it before. When our food arrived it was barely lukewarm, my partners lunch was OK however my burger was terrible. It was dry. In my opinion if your paying above average prices all the small things should be spot on. They weren't.

The Cricketers was chosen because of it's menu: as a Pescatarian and needing to follow a gluten-free diet, eating out can be difficult so the menus are always checked before making any reservation. Having seen GF fish and chips on the menu a table was booked. However, when we arrived we found out that the menu on their website was out of date and the dish was no longer available (I am writing this 5 days on and the old menu is still showing on The Cricketers website). Sadly, there was very little choice for me so I opted for a King Prawn/Monkfish curry - which was very disappointing and definitely not worth the money. Dessert was also poor: 2 tiny balls of ice cream. In summary: pricey (not worth it either!) and very limited menu for Vegetarians/Pescatarian. Definitely will not be returning.

The only vegan option on the menu was a starter of olives and bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It's practically unheard of these days to not cater for vegans (very few vegetarian options as well). The bread just looked and tasted stale, they had no balsamic vinegar to serve and the olive oil was a cooking oil, not the kind you dip bread into. Overall very disappointing.
