The Cricketers in Bracknell Forest

My wife had previously been with some friends and was very impressed on all fronts. As a consequence we met friends at The Cricketers for lunch. We sat in the window in the Library as requested when we booked. So a splendid location, great views over the green, very attentive but certainly not intrusive staff and a seriously good lunch. We choose Cumberland Sausage and mash (x2), fish and chips and a cheese & ham toasted sandwich with all the trimmings. The sausage and mash was my wife’s recommendation from her previous visit and most definitely lived up to expectations - the onion gravy, of which there was plenty, made the dish. In all it was served with a selection of well-cooked seasonal vegetables - six different ones! The fish and chips was equally well received and our friend who, not being overly hungry, opted for the toasted sandwich described it as the ‘best’ she had had! Desserts did not disappoint either. The caramelised sugar topping to the creme brûlée was fantastic, the sticky toffee pudding was very tasty and light with plenty of sauce (I would have preferred an extra scoop of ice cream but that was down to me for not asking!!!) The banoffee pie was very well received. Our less hungry friend opted for a floater coffee rather than a dessert and was exceptionally pleased to find it came topped with real cream rather than the ‘squirts’ kind. All in all a very special experience and one which we will very soon repeat.

We had an excellent evening the food was good and served very hot.The only problem was a very noisy table nearby which we could not blame the Cricketers for.Overall we thougherly enjoyable evening

Friendly staff and the food was good, expensive but as expected for the area. Very noisy inside, sat right by the staffs little huddle spot and had a hand full of forks thrown into a tray every so often which made a horrendous noise. Chairs also uncomfortable but not terrible.

Service was shocking. One starter did not arrive. When enquired where it was told that it had been cancelled. Main meals arrived and the food was good and as per what was ordered. When the food was placed on table ordered another drink. We had all finished our food and requested bill before the drink arrived. When our table was cleared we was not offered a dessert menu. The manager was going round the tables trying to get customers to buy more drinks. Shame we did not get ours. I believe a wait of over 20 minutes for a drink is unreasonable. When the bill arrived the starter that we did not receive/cancelled was on the bill.

The Cricketers Inn is a lovely venue, both to eat inside or outside. The standard of food is superb and portion sizes very good. The service from David and the team is spot on and every one was pleasant and attentive. Highly recommend.

The food was good but prices seem to have increased quite significantly. It was a quiet session which we appreciated however rather than the normal excellent level of service it was rather slow and therefore quite some time before we got to eat. A little disappointing when it has always been so good previously and our normal go to for lunch.

Lunch for 4. We all enjoyed excellent food, well-cooked and presented. Friendly staff provided good attentive service. Interesting items on the wall to read and provoke conversation. Everything was clean: glasses, cutlery, tables and floors. We all felt the whole experience was good value for the reasonable price and will return.

Really lovely food, lovely atmosphere and perfect service. Had a meal with a friend, which meant we wanted to chat. This is the pub for that as there’s no annoying background music, but there was a large group so did get a bit loud. The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly and provided good service. What more could you want?

Excellent service. Staff very friendly,helpful Food quality very good. Starters were huge, whitebait and chilli con carne nachos more like a main. Mains were large too. Banoffee pie really delicious. Coffee not so good.

We went as a group of 12 for Dinner. Such a wonderful evening. Staff were super helpful, food was fantastic. Great value for money. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely food but small ok for me but wouldn’t feed hubby x and the chairs make an awful noise when scraped on the e stone floor so they need pads on them other than that I can highly recommend the Cricketers x

We enjoyed our meal. However, on arrival we were seated next to a large party of adults, children and two dogs. We discussed asking to be moved as we thought it might get quite noisy. It did and with hindsight, we should have requested another table. We would respectfully suggest to the management that a party of four should not be seated next to such a large gathering if other tables are available.

Once again a great dinner which we couldn’t fault, with a few drinks afterwards. Good service from the staff.

No children’s menu, starter was very very overpriced. We ordered chicken goujens - the portion size was a joke for £9.95 (5 tiny bites). We complained and the chef agreed that it was a terrible sized portion so sent out more, meals were very average and paid over the odds for it. Cricketeers used to be our favourite family pub in Kent, unfortunately we won’t be coming back.

The fish and chips were disappointing. The chips were not cooked. The first time I have had a poor meal at the Cricketers

Vegan burger was delicious. My friend had a beef burger which she enjoyed. Nice friendly staff and good value for money.

What a great night. In Kent for one night only and desperate to find a good pub that does decent good. And what a find. The cricketers is a lovely country pub with great atmosphere and excellent food. We all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Service was excellent and we were made to feel really welcome - like it was our local. Thank you to all the staff. We will be back one day!

We had a lovely evening staff were friendly and helpful, good food great choice and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. We are looking forward to going back.

We have not ben here for several years despite it being a local pub. The food was exceptionally good and the portions were very generous. Prices are average with the total bill coming to just over £200 for five adults including drinks. Service was a bit slow for the main course but it was Mothers Day and the venue was exceptionally busy (completely full), the owner did come to see us at the end of the visit despite us saying nothing and offered us free coffee's etc. as an apology. In all honestly the portions were so good we almost needed the pause between courses to help it go down! We will happily go back for another meal both with family and friends.

Two people on my table had cod with parmentier potatoes. I was very disappointed with this dish as I had four pieces of potato the size of four peas. The rest of the fish dish was good but it lacked the potato that I was looking forward to eating. Consequently it wasn’t filling enough, ok if you are on a diet.

Good food but service was poor, table not clean, had to wait 15 minutes for table to be ready although lots of empty tables, had to ask for table to be cleaned and had to walk to the bar to ask to pay the bill.

Just what I expected. Village green pub/ restaurant. Cosy log fires friendly staff and fabulous food even for the veggie! And a free glass of wine with the fish on fishy Friday. What more can you ask. Thanks everyone at the Cricketers. See you again soon.

First walked in no beer on tap just bottles of beer asked for a coke and got some tiny bottle of glass coke which obviously that’s all they had , The Sunday roast beef was fatty and hardly anything to eat of it, vegetables came in a tiny tray and was nowhere near worth the price they asked for disappointing not overly much to say about the place unless ur a regular your not important

Food looked amazing but didn't taste it. The roast dinner was bland and no flavour. Way to much garlic in the soup and to much seafood sauce in the prawn cocktail.

Food was really lovely and fresh. The service was slow. The waiting staff were very young and inexperienced. I have no issue with this if they take the time to listen to what you order!!! Several mistakes on the drinks ordering which took a while to rectify

We've been to the Cricketers a few times. This time we seemed rushed, even though it wasn't that busy. But when we ordered extra drinks, we had to keep asking where are they? When they did arrive, wine was warm, as they had been sitting on the bar. 3 of us had roasts. I had beef. Ok. But my daughter and her husband had pork and chicken. And they were both extremely ill !! When they got home !! For 24 hours ! ?? Not sure if it was the roast , which wasn't fresh or a bug ??? Anyway standard not as good as usual.

Lovely to see a busy pub, that is clearly very popular. The food was very good, the service prompt and helpful.

Excellent roast and great service. This is a wonderful pub to eat at, I have been many times and will continue to be a customer. The roast is plentiful, hearty and delicious. I have never had a bad meal there and the service is always brilliant.

Quite noisy, very busy, overall we felt the food was only average and a bit overpriced. Service was good with staff attentive, we just came away feeling a slight disappointment with the experience so probably won’t bother booking here again.

Lovely food with lots of variety on the menu and big portions. Staff were really friendly and service was good. Not a complaint but food came out so quickly one course after the other that we were done in about 50 minutes!

My third visit to the Cricketers. The food is lovely the staff are competent and attentive. This time sitting in the lower restaurant the log burner gave a slight smell of smoke. One of our meals was incorrect when brought to the table but was sorted out quickly. I like this pub it is friendly and welcomes dogs in the bar area.

New Year bank holiday lunch. Good food speedy service considering how busy they were. Nice atmosphere although I felt it was a little chilly. Nevertheless we enjoyed it.

Pub lunch was adequate for a pub lunch but v expensive. Disappointed that the bread for starters with the prawn cocktails was just a piece of brown sliced loaf, I.E hovis and not even cut in half! Literally just a slice of bread with butter. Booked a table but seemed all rushed and staff not sure what was going on- maybe as it was a bank holiday.

Just a shame a large family was letting their small children run around the tables as if they were in a playground, not the restaurants fault, incompetent parents

This was the first time we'd been here. We booked a table online for 3.45. It was very busy when we got there (five minutes late) and while we were greeted very cordially and shown to our table quickly we were told that the kitchen was closing at 4. So, we ordered quickly and waited for our drinks to arrive. The beer took a while to and was a bit flat (they'd had a gas leak). The staff were lovely and apologetic about the flat beer and the rush to order our food (it was New year's day and they were closing earlier than usual). The service good and the food was very nice (we had roasts). The cost was about average for a pub restaurant. The thing that spoilt it was a few young children were shrieking and running around the restaurant and other table, which didn't really make for a relaxing dining experience. One of the other diners told the children to stop and they ignored her but then one of the parents told them and they quietened down- for five minutes. I know this happens in a lot of places these days but I do wish the management would make it clearer to parties with youngsters that they need to supervise their children while they are sitting there eating and drinking. Anyway, what with the flat beer and the noise, we paid our bill and went to a pub up the road. I would go back there, but I'd ask not to sit near a table with children, just in case they can't behave properly.

Very different quality of food to usual. Starter was very basic, roast was great, dessert was awful, had to be removed from the bill.

We booked for NYE and what a fantastic find!! Pub is beautiful, cannot find anything bad to say. Great start to 2023

New Year’s Day Sunday dinner, never been before but the ambience is lovely with a log fire. The food was all excellent, the mushroom starter was especially good, we all felt well looked after and we’ll definitely be back!

The food was good , drinks are expensive, everyone went home by 10pm most strange for a New Years Eve !

Having recently moved locally to the pub we had dinner in there for NY Eve. The service, food and hospitality is outstanding and I highly recommend it.

Service was poor, waited ages for drinks, and then waited over an hour for our meal my son ordered her ham egg and chips the ham was dry and cold.The food was average and nothing special but edible, it’s a shame because this used to be a really fantastic pub with great food in my opinion has gone down hill.
