Had a fabulous Thai lunch feast with champagne using our Groupon voucher. We have been a few times and are used to the rather eclectic decor but that all adds to the sense of occasion. Our waiter Ryan was very attentive and explained all of the dishes to us. All in all we have a lovely lunchtime experience and will certainly come again.

the food me and my boyfriend had was lovely. however, the waitress with the dark btown hair, in claw clip, gave my boyfriend a very flirtatious look, and was constantly giving me death eyes, making me feel very uncomfortable and altogether, i didnt feel like i was welcome, and it was quite unprofessional. i work in hospitality, and i would never conceive of doing such things. i found my experience to be tolerable, due to the lovely food, if i wasnt being targeted throughout my meal, i wouldve felt my experience was a lot better. i think it needs to be sorted. sort your flirty staff out.

My girlfriend and I went for the Thai 12 course lunch and it did not disappoint one bit. We were situated in a quirky room downstairs and greeted with by a brilliant host for the afternoon (I didn't get a name however she was new to the front of house at Crazy Bear) who kept our drinks topped up and made us feel welcome throughout the 2 hours we were sampling the fine food. Portion sizes were incredibly generous and I was only disappointed that I didn't make the most of the final dishes. I would return in a heartbeat if I lived closer.

A favourite of ours, the food was as good as ever, as was the atmosphere and the buzz of the restaurant. We were well served by Ryan and Annie who went above and beyond to make our evening special. We went on a Monday night and due to it being a quieter evening, the Thai is served in the English menu restaurant room. It's still quite funky, but the downstairs located Thai room is even nicer.

Very nice tasting menu lunch- both have to have the same menu so my partner had to have the vegetarian with me ☺️. Lovely glass of champagne to start and then a variety of starters, then another 4/5 different dishes for mains. Portions were generous but we didn’t feel overfaced, but pleasantly full. Service was warm, polite and prompt.

We've eaten here many times and the food is exceptional, as are the intimate and delightful surroundings. Tonight the staff were on top form, charming from entry to exiting, through a time of the most wonderful dinner and drinks. My wife and I were especially well looked after by Frederica, the warmest most delightful hostess we've ever been served by in my 55 years and for this my 55th birthday. Frederica is a credit to your establishment and we'll be back undoubtedly! Grazie Mille Frederica!

I’ve travelled from London a couple of times just to eat at this restaurant and n bet been disappointed with the food. I’m veggie and these plenty of choices. Today’s visit was even more memorable because our waitress Frederica was so welcoming and and knowledgeable about each and everything on the menu! She’s a great asset to Crazy bear!

I went with my partner for his birthday and booked the 12 course tasting menu with Groupon. It was around £60 with Groupon and £67/person without Groupon. It was not quite a 12 course menu, more like 12 items put in the middle for sharing. It is equivalent to a 3 course thai meal. The food was okay, pork trio was nice. The brownie was lovely!! The lunch was heavily let down by the service. There were broken glass on our table on arrival and red wine stain on the wine glass. We tried to look past it. The waitress although trying her best was inexperienced. We were not offered any water, or the drink menu at any point. She did not reset the table before the mains arrived. So when the mains arrived, she actually took my previous cutlery away from my hand and proceeded to replace them. The food was waiting and getting cold for minutes before she arrived with plates and cutlery. I had to walk over to ask for water, and walk over on a separate occasion as the prawn cracker did not arrive at the table, which we realised after the mains have all arrived. At the end, there was no suggestion that we could leave by the waiter, no mention of service charge that was in the Groupon instructions, we were left confused and just walked out hesitantly after a while. All the little things added to a poor experience. We were quite relaxed but could imagine some customers really kicking a fuss with our experience. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I would not even pay the Groupon price for it. The farmshop a walk behind was quite nice however!

I will add to the numerous 1 star reviews as the service and attitude of this 5 star hotel is disgraceful. We went for a special wedding anniversary meal, 12 course Thai sharing platter. Costing around £180 with drinks for 2 people. The service on Sunday evening was far from acceptable at any restaurant let alone fine dining. The whole experience was shambolic, the waiting staff seemed to have little training and many tables were left waiting a long time to order and receive their food. We had to repeat every drink request and order at least once and many tables just gave up and left as we dined. It made for a very sour atmosphere with almost every table angrily complaining at some point about the poor service. The food when it arrived was nice but the cost of the 12 plate sharing menu for two is comparable to Michelin standard taster menus, sadly the food was comparable to Thai food in our local pub. The first 6 'plates' were all served at once and were simply a mixed hors d'oeuvre, one spring roll is not a plate! Then the next 5 also came together as a meal, noodles raice curry, that is just how you order thai food!. The curry and aubergine were nice but at £62 a head I fail to see how it could warrant such a price tag, especially with the terrible service and attention to detail. The decor is an initial wow but as the night goes on it the tackiness of it all grows. The whole place is poorly maintained and cleaned, wallpaper is stapled on the walls where it's peeling away. I then saw all the terrible reviews and decided I would contact customer service rather than review, maybe it was a one off and they would make amends, but no, they haven't even bothered to respond.

My daughter booked this for me as Fathers day treat. Initially it was just the 2 of us then my wife came along as we have heard some good things about the place so wanted it to be a treat for all. On our arrival the place looks great a Rolls Royce with a palm tree growing out of it a London bus as reception. On going inside the decor is quirky and interesting. We were seated straight away in the Thai restaurant which is downstairs which I presume might of been the old cellar. Its a dark area but again interesting. The table was only set for 2 even though we had both emailed confirmations and a telephone confirmation, however this was quickly rectified. We had the set classic menu which is for meat eaters. We were offered the complimentary Brut which was good. The seating area feels cramped 2 many tables close together and chairs were not really suitable for adults. Our starter came out very fast and was the vegetarian starter which when questioned the waiter apologised took it away, which is fine but the couple adjacent who had ordered the veggy option were given the meat option oh dear!! We weren`t offered the drinks menu as some other tables were neither table water so ended up going to the bar where I had my pants pulled down £8 for a pint of cider!! The meat option starter arrived and was good closely followed by the main course which was also good although we felt it was rushed. We had to ask twice for water and you could constantly here the waiting staff apologising for one thing and another. Price wise the drinks are very expensive and £67 for one person excessive. The food was good but nothing you couldnt get for a fraction of the cost at a Thai resteraunt. 13% plus service charge to add insult to injury. All in all a 1 hour drive for a dissapointing night out. The place is nice to look at quirky and odd something different but the service we received and high cost do not merit all its hype. We wont be returning and wouldn`t recommend it to others

HONEST REVEIW so after planning this trip for months to Oxford with my partner we had high expectations after watching many tik toks visting the crazy bear and insta posts. On arrival when you first enter the premises it’s looks so cool you get All excited all seems wonderful we were greeted and told our table wasn’t quite ready so we were directed to the bar to wait. Now the bar visually it is very impressive I enjoy niche qwerky places and this bar ticked the boxes. However what let it down was poorly managed bar men who were rather unprofessionally bickering about something someone couldn’t find we waited a while to be served flat warm watered down Diet Coke this was the first disappointment. After a few minuets we were directed down the the left of the bar in to a small low ceiling incredibly claustrophobic room that smelt musty and un aired that instantly started to give me a headache. My high hopes of an amazing experience has just been crushed as we were sat in a tiny corner next to a very dirty cobwebbed fire escape on chairs and a table that were most probably designed with kids in mines , We were given about 5 minutes to read a very large menu it all felt very rushed shortly after another couple came down to dine and also commented on the smell and how unpleasantly surprised they were with the dining arrangements. Our food came quickly and while it wasn’t awful it was nothing to rave about although I feel like nothing will ever compare to the Thai terrace Guildford their food is the best of the best however we hadn’t come to the crazy bear just for the food we had came for the experience which is our opinion was pretty poor. Then our bill came by this point I couldn’t wait to get out of there I felt like a tinned sardine. Never again we visiting the Thai at the crazy bear

I have not been to this particular branch of crazy Bear for many years. I felt it was looking tired and needed a refurbishment In comparison to Beaconsfield. That being said, I must compliment the gentleman running the restaurant. I believe he was from Mauritius. His service was 2nd to none delivered with friendliness, a genuine interest and what a credit to the business. In contrast, I don’t think I could say the same in the bar area. It seemed chaotic. The staff appeared stressed, yet there was hardly anyone there , then one of the colleagues use the F word at another colleague, and that seemed unprofessional something commented by not only myself, but others around. Let’s not go to the food it was wonderful. We had a 12 course tasting menu. It was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed. It came from virgin experience days and it was worth every penny and included a glass of champagne each. If I were to give some developmental area for them to focus on, I would say it would need to be the temperature of the food itself. It could’ve been a bit warmer here and there. I really liked the bathrooms, parking was fine too, and overall I would like to return..

Don’t bother awful service simply not good enough. We had to wait half an hour that we had booked to be ready. Whilst waiting bar staff we uninterested and had conversations over us whilst trying to place a drinks order. We then waited an hour for our starters and when they arrived our order was incorrect. Staff said they were prioritising serving a function over the restaurant and they were short staffed. This restaurant used to be good but now overpriced with very poor service, we will not be returning.

Large and visually stunning Thai restaurant, offers an extensive menu with many vegetarian options, we had the seafood platter, and it was utterly superb, hit all the flavour notes you would want from Thai food, the house wine was exceptionally drinkable and the staff friendly and attentive, this is a perfect special date destination not to be missed

Service is poor and make you wait with your empty plate for at least half an hour. The waiter didn’t know we had red wine with our booking. No Thai flavours in the meal itself. Not sure what the 5 star reviewers have been eating or if they have actually eaten Thai food before. Best avoid this place.

We came here for dinner, on Saturday night! We were a little disappointed that we had not been contacted about using our voucher, but we had not noticed that they were only bookable by telephone!We had the 12 plate signature meal as we thought it was a nice way to try a few different dishes! We had a great meal here - our server Pierre was very knowledgeable and friendly throughout. The restaurant had been relocated into the wedding facilities to allow more room for social distancing but this was absolutely fine - they had done a great job in making the place look and feel great. The food was absolutely wonderful here. I am not sure if the staff are new since reopening but they did seem all over the place. Someone went to serve us someone else’s main course before we even had our starter. Also ordered a beer during the main course and it never arrived. We have been shielding and have 2 gift vouchers to use at the Crazy bear Restaurant. Due to health reasons we only wanted to sit outside. When we arrived we were told outside tables are non bookable and you have to book in advance if you have a gift voucher for a table in one of the restaurants and then hope there is outside seating available, otherwise you forfeit you voucher if you choose not to sit inside. Eventually, a member of staff reluctantly agreed that we could sit outside. They did not take any contact details, but did supply hand sanitizer. We ate a tai meat platter at one of the terrace tables. Dish was nice, but luke warm. The terrace area was a nice place to sit. However, be warned that they place an automatic 13.5% service charge on your bill - so the meal price can become quite high!The main problem is that there seems to be a distinct lack of communication regarding crazy bear monetary voucher use. They take the voucher code at time of booking, (we had previously cancelled a table booking at Christmas,) but they had made no note of it and redeemed the £100 vouchers! I then had to wait for a reply from the manager and got them re-activated. He did not respond to our enquiry about waiving prebooking for a voucher is you want to sit outside. There was also mixed information about whether we could use the vouchers in the crazy bear farm shop.The website has not been updated and has no information regarding covid or post lockdown procedures. The shop staff did not seem to know that voucher use is allowed in the shop as stated on the website. The shop also charged higher prices compared to the price on their website -eg. a lanson bottle of champagne was £10 higher!All in all, pleasant, but expensive meal, and with all the aggro with trying to use our vouchers, we would not choose to go again.

A very special experience. Wonderfully quirky atmosphere. The food menu and presentation is very different from most local restaurants and well-suited for a special occasion.

We dined here last Friday and from start to finish everything was amazing.....my only tiny gripe is the cost of the prawn crackers....£4.95 per person.The champagne was delightful, the cocktails fantastic and the gin and tonic went down lime a storm....the food is and was spectacular and we ate in he Thai restaurant.Absolutely beautiful....just a lot of money for prawn crackers...

The food was very nice with a nice Thai menu but we were very disappointed to have £22 added to the bill as a service charge. A tip should be what you want to tip, you should not feel obliged to pay a large tip.

Visited with my partner for an overnight stay. We chose to eat in the Thai restaurant and part of our visit included the 12 course signature menu. At the time of booking our reservation for the restaurant I made it clear that both my partner and I are pescatarians and also that I have a severe peanut allergy.When arriving we were seated after requesting twice to be taken to our table (I was concerned with previous reviews on the time frame we have in the restaurant). We were seated and given the signature menu which detailed ‘classic’ (meat menu) and ‘vegetarian’. I reminded the waiter that we are pescatarian and that I have a peanut allergy, he said ok so we will do fish alternatives and went to take the menu, which I asked to keep as we hadn’t chosen which version we wanted. He walked off, came back about 4/5 minutes later with prawn crackers and a dip. I then said about our choice and he said I’ve already ordered your food. I was a little surprised as we hadn’t been given an opportunity to look through the dishes on the menu at all. I therefore checked what we had been ordered and he assured us that meat options would be fish.We never saw this waiter again in our 2 hours in the restaurant.Our food came out 4 dishes at a time and I must say was very tasty. We were then served Prawn Pad Thai and my partner tried some then said to me wait before eating as I think they have served it with peanuts. When we asked the ingredients of the dish, another waiter informed us it was peanuts. I was shocked and said I informed the waiter when we sat down that I have a serious allergy. There was no apology, he just took the dish and then returned 5 mins later with another that didn’t have nuts in.Nb...my allergy is very severe to the point where an epi pen must be used immediately and I am to go to hospital straight after. I can’t believe that this mistake was made and no apology or worry from the staff was there. I found the waiters lacked customer service and care. We then ordered a bottle of champagne (as it was advertised on the tables that it is 50% off a bottle on Wednesdays).When the bill came, it was charged at full price!!!!! We had to then say to the waiter who just replied ‘oh, I didn’t remember it was Wednesday’!?The atmosphere was ok, but it was very small / cramped in there (it’s in the cellar). You are basically touching the person next to you.Conclusion: I’m afraid we won’t be hurrying back. Staff need retraining on service and importance of allergies. Maybe one less table in there would help the comfortability of the visit. All staff appear to be Eastern European, which gave us the feeling of cheap labour with no experience, which when you are paying the amount you are, you should be receiving much better service!

Shown to table in the corner Very hot and cramped. Not best seating position for eating. Had a pre-purchased set menu which was lovely. Varied and tasty. Great drinks menu and cocktails. When offered water waiter arrived with an open bottle which cost £4.95 not offered tap water to late to decline as already opened before it arrived at the table. Very rushed made clear from outset you had the table for 2 hours in which time food was bought whether you had finished the 1st course apart from desserts which took longer. Food was great didn’t see the menu as we had pre-booked but seemed to be a lot on offer. Waiter had a script of drink related sayings which was a little tiresome as you were able to hear them used at the other tables I. The room due to close proximity

Me and my partner stayed here over night and had a 3 course meal which was included in our package. Both of us agreed that it was the tastiest food we have ever had (and we eat out often!)

Came today as I had a Christmas present of a voucher. The place is quite quirky which I liked. The real problem today was the service. We waited for 40 minutes for our meal only to told the chef wasn’t happy with it ! So they were going to do another one. We were given a free starter as a good will gesture which was something I suppose. The meal was good when it eventually arrived which was 1hour an 25 minutes after we had sat down. I checked out the menu while we were waiting and to be honest I believe everything is well over priced. Certainly won’t be going back or recommending it to anyone. The restaurant wasn’t that busy so something is definitely wrong.

We went to the Crazy Bear as a family of 4 four our daughters 21st birthday. It was a very special evening in every sense of the owrd. From the moment we arrived to arranging our taxi home the team could not have been more helpful. The Thai is amazing and especially the 12 plate classic selection. We will definitely be back again!

First time been to the crazy bear.

My partner booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday, it's somewhere I'd always wanted to stay, so as you can imagine i was thrilled when I got there. He had booked one of the best rooms no expense spared.

First class bar/restaurant with excellent service & food in a trendy cosy environment at a fair price which works for both sides......will definitely be back and recommend!!! Many thanks!

Booked as part of a Group-On deal for staying at the hotel. Tried here first night as it was a delight. The food was excellent and each dish was described by our fantastic waiter, with an awesome moustache!! You will not be disappointed to visit here just for a meal.

Lovely food, great service. My only complaint which infact ruined the experience for me was the fact we were crammed in to the restaurant, so tightly I felt I was dining with strangers. Really quite uncomfortable, loved the food, but the seating really ruined the whole experience for us.

Stayed for two nights the food in the Thai restaurant really was excellent, we had the 12 course shared menu , the taste, texture and presentation was again excellent. The service and attention was superb, all this made for a fantastic stay.

Apologies for the length of this review but the restaurant failed on so many levels.

My son arranged this for us as a Christmas present,saying what a great place, he wasn’t wrong, you arrive and go wow very different, you keep saying this when you walk in, we were treated to the signature menu, seven courses not too big just right.

We stayed on an offer from Secret Escapes which included a three course meal in the Thai restaurant.

Food was average at best steamed sea bass was decent the rest of the food not so great had a dish sent back which of course they did remove from my bill very graciously service was outstanding delightful!!

The first impression was wow lots to look at very quirky. We had a drink in the bar before being shown to our table. The waitress was very slow and didn’t speak great English so hard to understand at times. The food however was amazing quite expensive but worth every penny. Definitely somewhere you would go for a special occasion. Would definitely return a great evening

Met a friend for a drink. We both ordered a single G&T.; £36 for 2 G&Ts;!!!!!!! Unjustifiable. Needless to say we won’t be back.

We bought the ‘12 Plate Thai Signature Dinner Menu & Glass Of Champagne’ from Groupon for 2 people for £79.00 as a treat for my 23rd birthday.

I always think that food quality is the most important thing for a restaurant but it’s only when you receive such terrible service that actually you could forgive average food if you were made to feel welcome. Sadly The Crazy Bear fails on both food and service. We won’t make the mistake of visiting again.

After visiting this establishment with my gorgeous partner, we were both left feeling uncomfortably dissatisfied by the lack of customer care. We both found the drinks to be very overpriced for what is a village pub staff were long to serve and had little interest in making you feel welcome.Inside is small and claustrophobic somewhat confusing. Once we found our way out to the outside area, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised at the uniqueness of this place. Unfortunately this was short lived as the outside seating is on real wood,my partner unfortunately caught a splinter in her hand. Upon leaving we both walked past the large London bus, at this point we both witnessed some sort of small animal running under the bus needless to say we hurried to the car and left. The last time I visited this establishment was 9 years ago and back then was made to feel welcome how things have changed.

We have been to the crazy bear a few times per year since it opened, last visit in June for the Father’s Day lunch so decided after seeing the 12 course Thai menu on groupon thought we would book lunch for our wedding anniversary. I bought the voucher and after a bit of messing about booked in, we arrived slightly early expecting to have a drink in the bar but were told our table was ready so we went straight down to the restaurant. When we got into the cramped space and we were shown to our table in the corner by and open door propped open by a log. There was so little space to sit, the waitress was rude when we said we didn’t want any wine, we were offered water initially and she actually rolled her eyes when I said I didn’t want bottled. We were hoping to order a soft drink but she just closed and took the menus and didn’t offer a drink again so we ate with just two small glasses of tap water and the ‘champagne’ included in the offer. The food was really nice but the main three courses were only lukewarm when we got them. The couples either side of us were both eating from the a la carte menu and went through two and one courses respectively in the 25 minutes it took to clear our plates. We were all sat so closely due to the additional tables that were wedged in and with such a noticeable disparity in service it became a conversation topic!

Overall, I did have a nice time at the Thai restaurant, BUT I was a bit unhappy/disappointed with the online booking system, when I arrived and got seated, I asked for the Express Menu (2 courses for £15 or 3 courses for £20) but the waitress said I needed to book that online which I don't remember having that option or it mentioning anywhere on the website, which is what i said to the waitress, and she sais we can have the express menu this time but next time we have to book it online, so i checked online again to see if I have missed it, but still cannot find this option or function on the website which is a bit worrying for next time. Thank you

Delicious food and great service. Generous portion sizes and great quality food. Loved the tunes playing in the background. Brilliant and knowledgeable waiter. Awesome service but even though a meal was included with our room we were a bit disappointed with how many extra costs there were with the food.

Tables are really close together, but the food was great.

My Step Daughter bought my husband a nights stay here with 3 course dinner on Groupon for his 50th birthday.

Second time to the CB and as expected it lived upto our expectations. Great location, Greta bar scene, recommend the Thai restaurant, with great food and waiter!

Excellent mothers day afternoon tea, sandwiches freshly cut with delicious fillings, wonderful pastry's and scones with heaps of clotted cream and jam. Staff happy efficient and friendly. A wonderful experience.

Really good food. Couldn’t fault it at all. Service was a little slow however our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food which helped with our choices. Would definitely return.
