The Crab Shed in South Hams

This restaurant is our top choice for Salcombe. If you like sea food then look no further! The whole crabs were huge and tasty. The lobster was great too. The staff were also really friendly and helpful! It is popular so book weeks in advance if possible.

We had a lovely relaxing lunch here. The crab sandwiches were the best we have ever had!! The fish and chips were delicious. Staff are very attentive and we have booked to go back again later in the week.

Absolutely fantastic! Heard lots about them and their food, it really lived up to the expectations. Not only was the food brilliant, the staff were just lovely and so kind and helpful. Helped us park, squeezed us in without a booking and gave us great recommendations. Crab Fries are not to be missed!

Best restaurant I have been to. The food was unbeatable. The service was amazing and the setting couldn’t have been better. We had a Fruit De Mer and a couple bottles of wine and it was the best meal imaginable.

We booked in advance while in Devon on a family holiday. The food was outstanding - a little pricey but well worth it. The service was a little slow, as they were trying to not overload the kitchen, but overall one of the best meals we had while in south Devon!

Visited three times whilst on holiday. We were greeted and served by lovely staff.All of the food was perfect (as it always is) and the surroundings are so pleasant.We had the mussels, scallops, crab bruschetta for starters and also the crab bisque which is out of this world!We had fish and chips, lobster, crab, crab salad, mussels and the crab linguine for mains. All were perfect.This is our “go to” place each time we go on holiday and is always a highlight of our week.

Wonderful food - we had whole crab and the fish and chips - and excellent service. Cost was very reasonable and the restaurant takes Covid precautions seriously. Totally recommended.

We spent four nights near Salcombe and were recommended to try and visit the Crab Shed. It was amazing! The freshest seafood ever. I had the moules, my husband the scallops and then we both had delicious lobster. Friendly staff, great service, beautiful location. We will visit again when in the area!

The whole ambiance was fantastic, superb sea food overlooking the harbour with friends. What more could you ask.

Enjoyable experience, wine, service etc, but I was not impressed by the main course. A very small portion of salad which was in a cereal sized bowl. There were a few green leaves and cherry tomato pieces, a quite small portion of crab and the chargrilled half avocado was tiny, about two small spoonfuls. Flavours were good but it was more like a side salad. I mentioned it to one of the waitresses when she asked if I had enjoyed the meal but she didn't respond.

Great evening staff are super friendly and the food is great. A must on a visit to Salcombe my wife and I both had Salcombe 🦀 recommend highly. Five star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had the best meal so far I had fish and chips which was really nice, however I did have food envy of everyone at our table. Husband has the crab for main and it was huge! They were really great with the kids too

Like all the places worth eating in around Salcombe, The Crab Shed is not cheap but it’s good. Crab is very much the dominant ingredient but there are other fish and vegetarian options.

I came for dinner with my parents and we were seated by the front door which was propped wide open. It was 10 degrees outside. I said to the waitress we would be too cold sat there with the door open so please could they close it and her response was very rude and confrontational. The door was then closed which solved the problem and we had a lovely dinner - so our issue was fixed immediately but why did we have to be spoken to like that by the waitress in response to a perfectly reasonable request? It really started our meal off negatively and then the same person who was rude to us served us for the rest of the meal which was uncomfortable. There was a much nicer and friendlier man in a crab mask serving too so if only we had only encountered him we’d of had a faultless evening.

Friendly welcome on a slightly windy but sunny day had the king prawns to start nice size and plenty of them cooked to perfection in their shell, decided to opt for the bouillabaisse for main which I thought was slightly on the high price until it came out MASSIVE ! At least four large pieces of different fish 2 king prawns 2 large scallops mussels clams 2 pieces of bread could have fed 2 easily great bottle of wine all of us enjoyed the experience. Great people great menu great full diners - we shall return !

Lovely to be back here, and whilst food is still as great as ever, service has improved from prior owners. Try the fish n chips without batter (pan fried), it is delicious 😋

We had a lovely time at the crab shed, the food was the best of our trip away in Devon. The garlic prawns, bouillabaisse and fish and chips were amazing. Lovely views too, we definitely recommend!

So lovely to be able to eat out, we booked for an early dinner and after an overcast day the sun came out in all it’s glory. Lovely table under the canopy, with heaters either side. Enjoyed mussels and garlic prawn starters, followed by haddock and chips - all cooked to perfection. A couple of bottles of rose Pinot Grigio and in no time at all our 90 minutes were up, too soon. Looking forward to our next visit at Xmas!

Came here for lunch and had a crab sandwich and fries. I love sweet potato fries and these were just unreal! The waiter was fab, I’m gutted I didn’t take his name as I feel he deserves some recognition, we ate on Friday 23rd April...Thanks to all the staff for making our first meal at the crab shed an enjoyable and memorable experience, we’ll definitely be back.

We popped in here on the way to Torcross, about 4ish in the afternoon. I know things were difficult with the covid restrictions, but we were met at the door by a really cold woman who took us to our table without any pleasantaries and then completely forgot about us. We ended up having to shout over to the bar to get some service, and they were slow too. There were more than enough people working there to serve the few of us in there, and some of the others staff seemed ok. But the lady that met us and several of the others were really lackluster. Shame becuase it looks a great location and has the potential to be a nice place. We wont go there again though.

We came when The Crab Shed first opened and have waited many years to come back. Booking is essential as inside is quite small. They do have an outside decked area overlooking the harbour, so I’m sure would be lovely sitting outside when the sun is shining or during the warmer months. What a lovely evening. Staff very pleasant and food absolutely delicious. Thankyou chef! We started with squid and king prawns, followed by the cod special and the crab salad. I’m salivating now just writing about! Would highly recommend and hopefully we won’t have to wait so long for our next visit. Thanks to all

We all had a superb dinner here, small venue with limited tables so you need to book well in advance. Quite a bit of gluten free options available to. They serve their own freshly caught Crab, seafood and fish. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Could have walked here from Salcombe Harbour hotel but it was raining heavily so took the car. Taxis really difficult to get on the day.

Tried to book a table for five via their on-line booking system - which - to be fair - doesn't actually guarantee a reservation - so why have it?IT states that someone will get back to you within three days [or so] - and if you don't hear from them - please call.Why not just call?So, after three days I called...They'd never heard of me - I could hear rustling of a book I guess - only to be told that my 'booking' couldn't be honoured...ie a table for five...Very disappointing I was told it is half-term.My questions are:Why didn't you get back to me earlier - especially if you knew you could be busy on the last day of half-termWhy take the booking [not reservation] in the first place?All earlier bookings were blanked out.Both strange and disappointing.

We loved our visit today. The scallops and crab were delicious and the service was really friendly and welcoming. Great to be able to buy the fresh crab as well. The rest of the menu both food and wine looked really good and all well priced. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I were lucky enough to get a lunchtime reservation. We ordered the king prawn starter, crab sandwich and the crab salad all to be served together. The prawns were served in garlic, butter and lemongrass. I really wish they did it as a main as it's incredible. The sandwich was thick slices of granary, generously filled with crab meat and a small side salad. The crab salad was a mixture of leaves with a beautiful dressing and a mound of flaked, fresh crab meat. The service was efficient and attentive and at no point did we feel rushed.

We called into the Crab Shed on Saturday lunchtime for a cheeky Crab Sandwich and we weren't disappointed. My wife was born and bred in Salcombe and she tells me that this was the best Crab Sandwich she has ever had in Salcombe. It had the perfect blend of brown and white meat, perfect seasoning and the granary bread was pillow soft. The side salad with sun-dried tomatoes completed it superbly. We were so impressed that we booked for dinner the following evening. Again, we were not disappointed. Starters of Pan Seared Scallops and Classic Moules Marinière were to die for. The Mussels were the best I have ever tasted, anywhere in the world. The main courses of Crab Linguine and Crab Shed Bouillabaisse beat us both due to the sheer size of the portions. The service was excellent and the entire staff have adapted to the Covid-19 restrictions faultlessly. We would highly recommend the Crab Shed for lunch or dinner. 10/10.

Managed a lunchtime table due to the popularity of the restaurant and wow its no wonder. Warm welcome on arrival full menu explained in detail, more than adequate wine list and choice of beers. We shared the most amazing bowl of Mussels for starter. I had the full Salcombe Crab and it was superb, my wife had the Crab Linguine which was also delicious. No room for puds!! The restaurant was fully covid safe with all precautions in place. This place is a must if you are in or around Salcombe but you need to book very early to get in. Highly recommend and will try to get in again on our next trip to Salcombe.

Squid was a bit chewy, wasn’t very pleasant. I had the crab and avocado salad which was delicious. My husband had the crab linguine which wonderful, flavours were incredible and smelt amazing!

The tastiest dinner in Salcombe, with a view of the creek! We had the scallops and then the dressed crab and the crab and avocado salad, everything was lovely and fresh. Very impressed!

We were able to have a table outside as all booked inside. In the sunshine then a shower then sunny for an hour or so. We had the best meal for many a moon in our outside shed location - and so strongly recommend you to visit. Hopefully not when we are waiting ! Enjoy. Just go and do it. Staff were so helpful, efficient and friendly. Credit to all involved.

The most incredible, fresh crab I've ever had. First time back to the restaurant since the new owners, Nick and Nikki, took over and I was blown away with the new look and new menu. The restaurant is fully accommodating to the challenging social distancing rules whilst not losing the exciting buzz and energy you expect when you go out to eat. It's still the most perfect location to enjoy a Fruits de Mer accompanied with a Salcombe beer. Sad to leave Salcombe but ecstatic to find out that I can order packaged crab from The Crab Shed to enjoy in my London flat.

We have been lucky enough to eat here twice in recent weeks and honestly can't wait to go back for more! The crab, prawns, mussels, squid is also unmissable and we couldn't pick a favourite - its that good. Even the stir-fried greens with capers has to get a mention. Our last trip was topped of by the Chef giving us the details on how he makes the Garlic Prawns sauce - they'll never be as good though!

Awesome food, awesome service.We booked, but slightly late and we were offered outside. End of September was not the ideal, but all comforts were catered for. Very good team. Very caring and supportive for all of needs.Food - was huge! Very tasty and very filling. Wife’s crab was one of the best she has ever had. I would recommend to book early to avoid disappointment, but don’t be put off if they offer the outside. They made a special effort all round!!

We dined here for lunch twice whilst on holiday for a week in the South Hams area of Devon and on both occasions were delighted with both the quality of the food and the friendliness and efficiency of the service. The authenticity of the experience was enhanced by the fact that we sat outside overlooking the small boats moored in the estuary. The crab sandwich was fantastic as were the mussels and squid and all beautifully complemented by a chilled local cider from the Salcombe brewery. The Crab Shed is one of those few places that has got it all right - great food backed up by great service and knowledgeable staff in a great location.

The food is absolutely delicious. Our third time to the Crab Shed and not the last. They have kept the menu the same, don't fix something which isn't broken! The Bouillabaisse is so good and I got the crab, cheesy chips on the side too which are a must. I can't wait for our visit next year! Thanks to all the team!

The restaurant was fully booked for the wholetime we were there but luckily found out that there are two tables left for walk ins, they open at 6 so we arrived at 5.45 to make sure we got a place. My first impression was disappointing when I nipped by during the day to ask about reservations, the restaurant was apparently closed but the door was open and plenty of staff around prepping for the evening. A couple were in front of us and wanted to ask about whether they could have a drink, they stood there for 20 minutes with staff coming in and out and completely ignoring them which seemed unnecessarily rude until they had enough and beckoned someone over eventually. Anyway, back to the meal, the menu is lovely and the food looked incredible, however I feel I made the wrong choice in the crab linguine, there was very little crab to be had and the sauce didn’t quite work, it was served with lime which I think ruined the flavour somehow, for the price of the meals I would have appreciated more crab, but as I say perhaps it was the wrong choice of meals, would definitely return and try the king prawns and cracked crab, if you’re planning a visit in the next year- definitely book way ahead of time

We always have a meal here whilst on holiday. Not sure if there’s been a change in proprietor but it seemed a little different from previous visits - change of decor, new bar, menu etc - all positives. Our friends hadn’t eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed their food - all freshly prepared, tasty, served with a smile and chat. Prices are reasonable and portions generous. We booked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday having searched Tripadvisor for good places to eat crab.Slight drama at the start as we could not park so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. Nicky the owner was fantastic throughout and was patient as we waited to find a parking spot.I have to say the wait was worth it as the dressed crab dish and the crab linguine were superb. The restaurant is charming and the service is top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here on a recommendation with our pup and 2 year old. They had a really good system to manage Covid and the food was simply delicious. We got the seafood sharer which had plenty of food, prawns were the highlight for sure but the crab, scallops, fish fillet and mussels were all fresh and tasty. The pizza our 2 year old had was great too although he was understandably more interested in the crab mac’n’cheese that came with our platter. Everything down to the chorizo salad garnish and the different flavoured sauces the fish were cooked in were just amazing, can’t wait to come again.Oh to top it off a great selection of local beers/ales and gins!

I'll try to keep this short. We had our midday meal here. Though small with limited seats, it is a very light and airy restaurant. The staff are very friendly, helpful and not intrusive. We had moules mariniere and crispy squid for starters, and Linguine plus dressed crab for the main. Certainly the best both of us had tasted on a long time for all the courses. It was washed down with a very nice bottle of Picpoul de Pinet, it's dryness balancing the seafood very well. Cost seemed average for a good meal out in this area, but who cares given the quality of the food. One to revisit, long may they prosper.

Other reviews says it all, this is top notch food with excellent service to go with it. We were lucky enough to secure a table outside, looking over the water on a very sunny day. My wife had the lobster served with Thermidor butter sauce, that was a lot of lobster, super fresh and delicious. I had the crab linguine pasta, which was amazing and so tasty. Great wine selection to go with it all.When you see how small the kitchen is, this is really one of those restaurants you wish was closer to home as you probably don't get tired of enjoying their food. Salcombe has a lot to offer (great gin, excellent beer, even ice cream...!) and this has to be on top of your list when visiting this lovely sea side town.

Another great meal at the Crabshed. This small but beautifully formed restaurant never disappoints. The menu is limited which means everything is freshly prepared and the staff are very friendly. We try to book in every time we visit Salcombe. Book early to avoid disappointment!

We had booked a table before our week in Salcombe & were so pleased we had. There were 6 of us celebrating various belated birthdays & every dish was delicious. This is probably the best meal we have eaten out for a long time , normally you can leave a restaurant feeling a little let down but not at the Crab Shed.The service was also very friendly & efficient.We would definitely recommend to friends.Good luck for the future!

The best place in Sulcombe! Fantastic food and great service. Unfortunately you will need to book in advance! Crabs, lobsters and seafood! Good selection of wines! Definitely the place to visit!

Lovely dinning experience. Small inside area but never feels cramped as they have maximised the space they have. The food is delicious. I had prawns to start, and a whole cracked crab for main. Both were very tasty and would recommend. Expansive wine list with varied choices, including recommendations on what to pair the wine with. A bottle of wine to suit every wallet. You will need to book however as they are very in demand.

Had an enjoyable meal. The mussles in particular was some of the best I’ve ever had! The inside is a bit cramped - we had a table which was right next to the bar - but that maybe due to Covid and ensuring there was distance between the tables.

We both had moules mariniere, then the missus had the whole cracked crab hot, and I had the same, but cold. Both courses were absolutely excellent, albeit we prefer the moules without cream. The crab was sensational, beautifully fresh, large and as ever requires some work to extract all the white meat.The service was extremely attentive from the moment we sat down with wine and water orders done and dealt in minutes, and then with the right interval our food orders were taken.This was our first visit to the Crab Shed, but I hope it won’t be the last as we’re only on our first staycation in Devon.

We totally understand how difficult it is for restaurants at the moment with the COVID situation but, had we been made aware we would be sitting outside we could have brought extra jumpers and coats! It was gone 8pm when we got our table and although it was a very beautiful setting we had 2 elderly parents who were very cold so we resorted on getting the dog blanket to wrap around them! The food was excellent as was the service, just a shame that it wasn't so pleasant sat outside freezing. Maybe some patio heaters would help or a temporary shelter of some description. Great little place and food though.

We had heard such good reports about the Crab Shed that I booked a table before our visit and I was glad I did. A wonderful seafood restaurant with great staff. We ordered the Crab Bisque and Salt & Pepper Squid to start plus Haddock & Chips and Crab Linguine for mains. All were excellent and very filling. I really recommend the Crab Shack.

Overall the service was very good and the Mussels, crab/Avocado salad was lovely. We chose Lobster Thermidor and Lobster with garlic butter. Very disappointed with the Lobster very tough and the shell was burn't also no sign of a thermidor sauce. We feel the lobster was not fresh from the waters. When you are paying£45 plus for the meal I would expect fresh and tender lobster.

Fancied a spontaneous light lunch and glass of wine whilst walking round Salcombe. Crab Shed very helpfully fitted us in. Food and Service as good as ever. Thanks and see you soon!

We had an incredible evening here!!! Highly recommend ***** 5 star!! My husband and I adored the restaurant. It is in a beautiful setting with splendid views and divine decor!! The owner was fabulous in accommodating us for our wedding anniversary in July just as lockdown had eased so we really appreciated this! We felt the standard and presentation of food served was fantastic!!! The manager and the young gentleman who served us really made our evening special, so big thank you to them! We had a good laugh with the chef at the end of the night who refused to tell us his chef secrets hahaha!! Who can blame him though?! The flavours were bang on!!!! We loved it so much we returned the next day and ordered the salcombe crab to take all the way home with us to The Midlands!! We have enjoyed the crab over and over again since returning home and absolutely recommend that to anyone visiting! We are definitely looking to return ASAP and will 100% be booking a table for the evening! Thank you again!!! xxx

I knew I wanted seafood and wine for my birthday lunch and when I came across The Crab Shed, I knew it would be the perfect spot We sat outside, watched the world go by on the river and shared a selection of starters and the shed fries and they were all perfectly cooked and so so tasty.Thank you! ♥️

Absolutely the best seafood place in Salcombe. Everything on the menu was incredible and very fresh. Great service and all expertly cooked. Do book though as they rarely take walk-ins.

Stumbled across after dropping boat off for running repairs - thought closed but had a table free at front. Have to say the staff were adorable - food really good and better value than our local (oyster shack). A really goodmeal and very good atmosphere....

I tried on the off chance to get a table for lunch but was fully booked. I left my mobile number for a cancellation and was delighted when I got a call to tell me I had a table.Delightful small restaurant pleasantly decorated with nice staff. Enjoyed the crab and squid starters and I had the Hake which was the special of the day and my husband that the fish and chips which he loved.

Excellent find, tucked away at end of Island Street. Service very friendly and helpful. Will try their hardest to fit you in. Sensible Covid precautions but not military. Crab linguine excellent. Bread and olive oil/butter provided on table. Fish & chips very fresh. Highly recommended

What a fabulous place tucked away near the car park, on the water by Batson. Amazing crab.... great place, great staff.

We stayed near Hope Cove and booked a table in person on the Monday for our last night On Thursday.. They could only offer a table at 6.30pm which was fine and we opted for inside in case it rained. We have eaten at some of the best Devon and Cornwall fish restaurants and so our expectations are usually high when we visit somewhere offering similar food at similar prices.We arrived earlier than expected as they were opening and were told we could take our table. It was nice to be seated by the open doors to the patio area with views over the estuary. They staggered timings so the inside area wasn’t crowded and the staff all wore masks.Our orders were taken quickly. We opted for scallops and crab bruschetta to start and mains of crab linguine and the special of sea bass. The scallops were very small and lacked seasoning and at £12 were over priced for what they were. The bruschetta was ok. The linguine again lacked seasoning and when we asked for salt we were given one small sachet. The sea bass was nice but not exceptional. We asked for bread which came with no butter or oil. We asked for butter and were given one small pat! The wine was good and priced at what we usually would expect to pay in a higher end restaurant.The two scoops of ice cream was the same price as the sticky toffee pud with ice cream.When the bill came we were charged £3.50 for the bread which was quite frankly a rip off.All in all we felt that what we had didn’t reflect the charge and the prices appear more reflective of the views and Salcombe rather than the food. We were in and out in an hour and a half and £110 lighter...As the service was good we did leave a tip which I hope went to the servers.Looking at the other reviews I realise we are in the minority but we have reviewed fairly on our particular experience.

We have just had an exceptional meal at the Crab Shed. Gorgeous local seafood - crab, prawns, scallops - all served with fantastic flavours. Fantastic ambience with lovely views over the water- and all the staff really friendly and helpful. We felt a little apprehensive about eating out but their attitude and professional attitude were perfect in easing this. We always try to eat here at least a couple of times when we visit Devon.We had three meals at the Crab Shed last week and all of them were perfection!Staff as welcoming and as friendly as ever and a lovely setting.We had to order a couple of take out dressed crabs for my dad one day as there was no space to park the car. The take out crabs were equally as good as what is served in the restaurant.I recommend the fruits de mer if you want a treat and a taste of a few things.I am ever considering whether to relocate to Salcombe just for this place!

Me and my family booked the crab shed for lunch and all thoroughly enjoyed it! Both the food and service were exceptional and we would highly recommend if you are ever in the area. . We chose to sit in and enjoy the service but there were plenty of takeway customers too. Although busy, we were served quickly and left to enjoy our food in the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurent.

Following recent reopening post C19 we originally wanted to book a table in the restaurant. However it was fully booked until August! No surprise why as we ended up ordering a take away which was absolutely outstanding. The mac and cheese with crab and fish goujons were absolutely outstanding, fantastic flavours, great portions, fabulous staff, amazing location (ended up eating on a bench just outside). Couldn’t ask for anything more. Great experience. And have now managed to book a table in the restaurant for mid August. Can’t wait.

My partner and I were visiting Salcombe post lockdown and decided to try the Crab Shed based on their excellent reviews. We had fish and chips as take away and they were delicious. The tartar sauce was homemade and the fish was excellent. We will visit again next time we are in Salcombe.

Recommend to us by tea room owner in Totnes, so took a trip out to eat. We went for lunch and for most of the time we were alone I think re the c19. Iris but it filled up as we left molly served us and nothing was too much trouble an asset to the place. The food was amazing. The food is not. Heap for the size, quality and taste worth every penny. Would go back easily. Had the specials which were amazing.

Beautiful food. Beautiful location. Wonderful, friendly waitress who went above and beyond. Pet friendly - we were allowed to sit anywhere with our spaniel puppy, not shoved in a corner or put outside! Such a treat and the quality of the meal was divine. We ordered the crab bruschetta to start, crab linguine and fish special for main. Cheese board for dessert. Just the whole evening was such a delight and we will return to Salcombe for this place alone. Great work guys.

Small modern eaterie, literally is a hut on the quay, with limited parking and expensive sadly. We were first customers of the day so pretty much had the place to ourselves for the first hour, at which point it started to get busier. We both opted for the Crab Linguine in a bisque sauce. It was very fresh and hot, pasta perfectly cooked but bisque was quite under seasoned unfortunately. We both opted for Sticky Toffee Pudding, these were very good, the sponge was light, the sauce sticky and sweet and local vanilla ice cream was divine, a perfect portion of a classic pudding, cooked very well. Our waitress Molly was lovely, very attentive. Overall a nice lunch.

A party of seven of us turned up at the Crab Shed for lunch. The waitress immediately put tables together at the end of the restaurant for us all. When we arrived there was only 2 couples in with their dogs and 1 person sitting outside. It is out of season so we thought it would be quiet. Thank goodness we arrived when we did as shortly afterwards the restaurant was full. We ordered 2 bottles of white wine and looked at the menu. We were spoiled for choice, 2 had the crab sandwich served with side salad and on granary brown bread. It was huge, the crab filling was at least an inch thick if not more & looked delicious. 4 had the prawn & avocado salad served with sour dough bread and 1 had a large bowl of mussels. We ordered 3 bowls of fries between us. Everyone said that the food was delicious. Nothing left on the plates. The waitress was lovely, friendly and informative. This litle seafood restaurant is a must if visiting Salcombe. We will definately come back if visiting Salcombe again. Absolutely wonderful seafood.

Had a very pleasant lunch at the Crab Shed. The crab linguine was excellent as was the service, shame the weather was not good meaning we could not enjoy eating on the outside tables overlooking the harbour. (this in no way affected my star rating)

Very nice to look out of the windows while eating the best crab sandwich. The fish and chips are are fresh and beautifully cook. My husband had Dover soul which he said was superb This place is highly recommend in our view

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here a couple of weeks ago; it was very busy but they were really accommodating. Menu is uncomplicated and suits a variety of fish lovers tastes. Highly recommend the crab sandwiches which were simply delicious. They are family friendly. Cannot wait to sample more of the menu the next time I visit Salcombe.

My wife and I visited this place twice in our four night stay. The fish was superb. The food was so fresh and tasty. Super tasty!The fish chowder was to die for. We ate it on the Monday night and for the next two days everything else we ate was compared to it. And everywhere we went we told them about the fish chowder at The CrabshedThe best I’ve had outside Maine USA. Buttery, creamy, garlicky and a good size portion. We asked for it as a starter even though it was a main and the plate was full!Staff were super friendly and helpful and for those who care, possibly they cleanest loo I’ve ever come across in a restaurant. I just wish I could get that chowder delivered the 250 to London!!!Almost worth going all the way to Salcombe just for that.

Great location and it was sunny when we went too which made it a joy. Fabulous mussels, boluillabaisse was average but good for fish quality/freshness but the broth lack a bit of french ooompf and depth hence the 4 not 5. Service good.

Great food & great service. The crab bruschetta was amazing. One of the specials was brill which again was delicious.

An excellent afternoon luncheon. Very good crab sandwich and avocado and prawn salad. Clean, light and airy overlooking the water with outside seating. No lobster as weather stopped the local fishermen going out. Unfortunatly parking is a real problem.

As a local, to return time after time to this fantastic restaurant and still come away completely satisfied with the food and service is testament to the high standards we've come to expect. This has to be the best restaurant in Salcombe. Well done Simon and Nick the chef for another wonderful evening. We always feel well looked after.

This eatery has undergone a complete refresh and is a real find. Great location, outlook and views, small and perfect. Good local menu open gallery kitchen. We enjoyed the experience and recommend it.

Stopped for a light lunch and was not disappointed. Friendly welcome and great crab. Would definitely recommend
