Visited Selkirk whilst on holiday in the area, nice sunny day so sat outside with our dog. My husband ordered leek and potato soup served with bread/butter. I opted for the chicken Mayo sandwich with crisps/salad/coleslaw. Both had lattes. Everything was delicious and served by a very friendly member of staff. Definitely would return and recommend

Parked in the market place car park just outside and liked the look of this coffee shop for lunch. What a great choice! Friendly service, lunch (bacon, brie and cranberry panini and cheese and onion toastie, both served with side salad, crisps and creamy coleslaw) was delicious and a nice strong pot of tea to go with it. The traybakes are divine ❤️

Welcoming, safe and service with a smile. But best of all the food is top notch. First time in Selkirk and we will be back to this family run cafe. Nice touch serving the loose leafed tea in retro cups and saucers.

We visited Selkirk as we were staying nearby and like to shop locally where possible. We were just about to stop at the Court House for a coffee and cake but a staff member came storming out of the door and had a go at me! My dog had tried to lift his leg on the plant out on the front and she took great exception to this. 1) if you position plants on a public pavement where people are walking with their dogs then I'm afraid this is likely to happen 2) My dog lifted his leg but nothing came out - it's just habit. 3) there are other ways to manage situations like this; especially if you want to encourage customers in to your cafe. We walked on and went elsewhere.

Visited with a group of friends whilst looking for a coffee stop. What an excellent find! Good coffee, tempting tray bakes, and cakes served on china plates! We sat outside to watch the world go by and everything we ordered was delivered for us with a smile. Prices were very reasonable and the service was as quick as they could manage. They could have done with an extra pair of hands but half an hour later and they would probably have been quiet again! Very clean and very accommodating this little gem is awaiting discovery by the discerning coffee aficionados. Will definitely be back at some point and we can highly recommend it!

Courthouse Coffee shop has just opened this week after a long closure.Miserable weather outside and popped in for a coffee.Place was very cold and if new owners want to attract business they should ensure that the place is warm. Will not be in any hurry to return.

Lovely, clean, neat cafe. We only stopped in for a snack, but the selkirk bannock (2 slices toasted with butter) and the tuna and cheese toastie were both very good. Cup of coffee was a proper size too, not like the small cups you get in some places, and they were happy to provide hot rather than cold milk. Service was friendly and food was all freshly prepared.

We stopped off here for a morning roll. They didn't have any. Hungry and in a hurry to get to a funeral we ordered coffee and scones. After a long wait our coffee was brought. We then waited and waited.... Numerous people came in and were served scones and still no service for us! We enquired about our order and explained why we were in a hurry, and were told we hadn't ordered any scones! Then, unbelievably that we were too late and there was only one left. Rather than argue about it we accepted what was left, and ordered a substitute. Again we waited ages. Meanwhile our coffee was half empty and near cold with waiting. We politely asked the waitress/owner if she would kindly top up our beverages...She looked aghast!...and kept saying top them up with what? what do you mean?...How clueless can you be? We then offered to pay for a top up and were refused as the machine doesn't do that! As former coffee shop owners we would never treat our customers this way... it is polite practise to replace the drinks of customers who have been kept waiting and orders forgotten. Who wants to eat food with a cold beverage! The server in this place needs to learn to apologise for her mistakes and learn some basic customer skills.

Stopped in for lunch with work colleagues. Clean and bright shop with proper table and chairs plus some soft armchairs and coffee tables if you want a more relaxed drink/eat. Artwork for sale adorn the walls and the teapot/cups hunting gives the place a nice atmosphere. After a bit of a wait the lady apologised and gave us the menu. Large blackboard on wall lists the sandwich and toastie fillings etc. Also serve homemade soup. I chose a toasted ciabatta long roll with delicious mild goats cheese and onion marmalade, served with very small portion side salad (more like a garnish really) , some crisps and coleslaw. Colleague had mozzarella and tomato sandwich, other colleague had same as me. Decaffeinated tea was in proper pot and China tea cup-lovely. Food was served very quickly. The traybakes, scones and cakes on offer looked very nice but alas we were on limited time. Prices were reasonable and will definitely be back for more. my colleagues also enjoyed their lunch.

My brother and I met for lunch here this afternoon. The staff were very pleasant and it was a nice place to catch up. Prices were very reasonable. The chocolate fudge and peanut butter cake slice was especially delicious! If you are in Selkirk I'd definitely recommend popping in, even if it's just for a tea/coffee and a slice of cake or a scone.

A lunchtime stop for a bite and drink during a short stop in Selkirk.Choice is limited but I had soup and sandwich deal with tea and my wife had a greek salad with earl grey. Both were fine and very generous in portion. Good value with friendly service.Slightly lacking in atmosphere and the toilet could have done with a more thorough clean.

Stopped in here with my dad (after a long drive to buy a car in Selkirk) and so glad we did. We both had the soup of the day (lentil) which came with a generous side of bread, both delicious and I had a mocha choca cake (I think that was what it was called) to takeaway. Opened my cake box to discover how truly huge that slice was, it was delicious so I was pleased

Driving through Selkirk on a rainy afternoon, we spotted this cafe, behind a statue of Sir Walter Scott. What a find - friendly and welcoming staff, delicious home made soup & bread, tasty cakes and excellent coffee. It is a bright, cheerful cafe, with a spotlessly clean toilet.

Glad we stopped in Selkirk on our wee trip round the Scottish Borders. A warm welcome from the staff at The Court House Coffee Shop. Lovely bright premises with a tempting array of home baked goodies on display. We asked for sandwiches but were told that lunches stopped at 2.00 pm !!!. However, as it was just after two we were able to place our order. sandwiches duly appeared which I have to say were delicious, beautiful soft brown bread, generous filling with a wee side salad and crisps. so filling that we didn't have room for one of the delicious home made cakes cakes Lovely pot of tea made the old fashioned way with loose tea leaves.'t Toilets were spotless. Overall a great experience. A wee suggestion to the owners, drop the two o'clock rule for lunch. Surely if you have bread left and the fillings it would make sense.

This cafe is a gem. I popped in for lunch with my daughter, and the young waitresses were very helpful when I could not make up my mind whether to have ham or beef on my sandwich. The lunch arrived and the portions were generous, and the food was delicious. The food was also presented well. We then had some cakes which were absolutely delicious, and the owner who apparently makes all the cakes is to be congratulated. The coffee is also very good - not too bitter, and freshly ground. The cafe is decorated in neutral tones and is a very relaxing place to sit and enjoy some excellent food and a catch up.The Christmas decorations added to the lovely atmosphere!

Popped in after exploring Selkirk's two free museums, each within 100 yards. On entering, I noticed how clean and tidy the premises were. I was served by a very helpful gentleman, who kindly lent me a newspaper to read while I enjoyed an excellent fruit scone with delicious, homemade raspberry jam and decaf tea. Recommended.

Despite some negative reviews, we loved it here. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in and were served quickly and efficiently. The menu isn’t extensive but I don’t find that a problem. What we had was very nice. Very clean and a lovely atmosphere, where locals clearly come on a regular basis. Would recommend.

Had been looking forward to my visit made specifically to try this place out. Noone else in except the numerous staff all talking away happily to each other. After looking at menu which looked fabulous I went up to order as none of staff looked vaguely interested in taking my order. No sit down we will come to you. I sat and waited and the place started to fill. 3 other tables came in and someone came from behind the counter to clear dirty dishes that had been on a table when I went in. Finally someone came to serve me and I commented on my wait to which I was given a story about the coffee machine not working which was why staff were chatting. Hmmmmn really. Then as of course luck would have it they were out of the very thing I was there to have. I will give them another chance another day as the menu was interesting but the service was shockingly bad especially if they then are having to tell people no coffee! Zero recognition of interaction with customers and I speak as someone with a long hospitality career. Great location great menu but lacking in customer connection.
