Top marks for the food and friendly service. It was a balmy evening so sat outside. The main menu had lots of decent choices and the food is always plentiful and tasty. This evening, the chef had put together a specials menu which was outstanding in the choices he’d made, including baked loin of cod with all the right trimmings, and a mushroom and Stilton risotto. I had the sea bass on a bed of leeks and smoked salmon in a perfectly seasoned sauce, which complimented the dish, with crushed new potatoes topped with crispy kale. Sublime is the word which best describes the dish. My hubby had the Hunters Chicken, which he thoroughly enjoyed, followed by the best apple pie and custard he’d had in a long time. We highly recommend this venue and will certainly be heading over for more off the specials menu.

visited this restaurant today with my wife left feeling unimpressed starter came quickly and was very good then came the problem three couples and a family came a long time after us and no fault of theirs they were all served with the main course well before us.We then complained about how we had been waiting and were given the excuse they were very busy at the far end of the restaurant which was rubbish as when we arrived we were the only two customers in that area !!! the main was mediocre and barely warm . no members of staff showed any concern will not visit again

Me and my partner came here on a Friday, it was our first time out having a meal since before lockdown so was really looking forward to it. I heard some good reviews and thought we should give it a go. We came before we could eat inside. Outside was lovely, lovely set up etc. Service was terrible, had to ask to order drinks and ask for a menu. We both ordered burgers, my partner had the beef burger and I had the chicken burger. We had complimentary chips with curry sauce which was nice. The food then arrived, I was very disappointed with my chicken burger, it was very dry and with no tasteAnd the meal was cold. No staff came to ask how our meal was either. Considering it was our first meal out it just ruined it. Such a shame. Won’t be returning.

Nice pub, clean and warm, went for lunchtime pensioners menu, food was good as was the service and of adequate quantity, the only complaint was the price of a starter and a sweet was a similar price to the main course, as a member of a lunch club travelling to many venues in the area it did not satisfy on price compared to others, a starter is normally included in the price and sweets around £1.50 extra if they wish to attract lunchtime oldies they need to look at their prices, but maybe they are happy but will loose trade, i wont be going again neither the forty people i travel with.

We found this pub whilst cycling in the area and are so glad we did! The menu offers great choice but most importantly the food is so tasty it brought a smile to our faces the first time we had lunch there. First thing we noticed was the quality of the ingredients and the fact nothing feels mass produced or cooked from frozen. My gammon and chips was simply lovely (well cooked and tasty) and felt the portion size was generous. The staff are super pleasant and genuinely try to make you feel welcome and well cared for.

We visited this pub on Wednesday evening after racing back from Heathrow airport following a business trip. The flight had been delayed and we tried to get back to Leicester in order to get something to eat. We arrived at the restaurant at 8:55pm. A first visit for sunday lunch. First impressions are nice decor, friendly waitress, nice beer, a mostly locals pub. An exceptable waiting time for the food which was on the whole good, my wife had roast pork and i had the turkey, the pork my wife told me was good, my turkey was a disappointment it was not presented as expected in slices it became apparent that it was cut from rolled turkey and therefor i spent far to long cutting off the skin/fat that was interwoven in its structure. The vegtables were a puzzle to me and my wife because there were only two small peices of carrot and two small strands of broccali and after that it becomes a real puzzle because our meat lay on a bed of dauphiniose potatoe and was very cheesey and changed the colour the gravey and at the same time there was cauliflower cheese again spoiling the gravey colour and the individual taste of the gravey ( an important sunday lunch ingredent in its own right) another vegtable on offer was the savoy cabbage which was presented in what appeared to be a bowl of shallow milk. So it was apparent that all these combinations of food and flavours was over the top and the hosts are trying to hard to please and in doing that there are to many ingredients, the yorkshire pudding and stuffing was their saving grace. So dear hosts please go back to basics keep things simple and have good quality meats, varity of good quality vegtables without any thing added to them, you already have good yorkshire puddings, stuffing, and gravey and so if you make those changes you will become one the places people head for to eat a top quality sunday lunch but only if you change some of your ingredients, my sincere regards and good luck for your future.

Having downloaded a discount voucher through the Vintage Inns app, we chose the Red Cow to come with a friend, and sadly we weren't impressed. On first impressions it looks nice, I asked for a Gluten Free menu to be told they've only got one menu - so scanned through to find something I'm not allergic to, but the menu doesn't show allergies. Having managed to download the allergen app on the frightfully slow Wi-Fi; found something I could eat. The food that came out was pleasant enough, pretty small portions, tasted nice (but not amazing), and had we not had a £20 off voucher would have felt short changed. Drink prices on the high side of average, but okay. Visiting the toilets was disappointing too, for the price bracket should be spotless, again average - the gents having graffiti on the back of the toilet (not cubicle) door. I'd say it's on par with a Toby Carvery, at twice the price.

The Old Vicarage public house came just at the right time on our way into Leicester. We were ready for a meal and the food was good. It is a very popular place so if you want to go in for eats it could be a good idea to phone and book a table.
