Nice place for walks and some photos

Only saw the bridge rise up once when walking along the canal i think its works about once a year. but when you see it I think you're be impressed for minute or two be there or be square. Its situated at lochrin basin and just a stones throw from the city centre.

It's a bridge ! Remember it from schooldays and it is still badly maintained. Worth saving as a piece of history. Some valuable timber worth a lot of money has been lying there for many years !!

The bridge was installed around 1906 where Fountainbridge crossed the canal replacing a previous bridge built in 1869. When the canal was shortened in 1922 to make Lochrin Basin the terminus it was moved to its present site to replace a wooden drawbridge, It fell out of use by the 1960s, but as part of the Millennium Link project to restore the Union Canal, it required to be restored at least to allow boats to pass.

Nice bridge over the canal lifts to let the canal boats out.

An interesting piece of canal history. Also currently with a handy canal boat cafe. Outside seating.

Cool bridge and you can stop at the barge for a coffee or tea. Kids live clinging over the old steps. Good spot to watch the world go by.

This in in the centre of Edinburgh and the union canal dropped my wife off there as she was joining friends on a gin cruise and it,s a beautiful day.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. Would recommend

Lovely old restored lift bridge, over a century old, still works to let barges through. Watershed cafe-barge is moored right next to it so you can have your coffee sitting right by the water, ideal spot to rest in a long walk along the canal

Just a bridge at the end of the canal but it's old and still working and always brings a smile.

Beautifully restored bridge in a nice quiet area of Edinburgh. A good place for a walk, job or bike ride. Quite close to cafes, coffee shops and restaurants.

A great wee bridge over the canal, glad it's still there... the area is becoming a blossoming new area with many new buildings near-by the canal down towards Haymarket.

Beautiful walk down the canal to this bridge. Had a lovely coffee from the wee barge too! However, the footpath was busy and the cyclists were far too fast! It's called a footpath for a reason!

Big old bridge that lifts sometimes. But not very often. Mostly it's down which - if I'm being honest - makes it easier to get across. Good coffee shop in a canal boat right beside it. Like, very decent coffee. Much delicious, very recommend. Much better than the bridge, to be fair.

Union canal is really a good place to walk or run. You can find many people ther and it has canal side cafe for snacks.

Nice coffee badge next it for a stop off and a rest

Stunning despite its black and white aplomb. Dysfunctional, as in doubly-functional – nonetheless perfect for romantic or jokey pictures. At the borders of the Edinburgh centre (loosely defined), provides a point of view 2 metres higher than your own stature.

Graphic bridge. Explicit spot for cheesy couple pictures, if you're into that kind of thing. Don't look down, the algae and trash are existential.

Ένα πολύ καλό μέρος για βόλτα, για ποδήλατα, για τρέξιμο.. απολαμβάνεις τη θέα με την οικογένειά σου, με τα παιδιά.. είναι ένα κομμάτι ιστορικής υποδομής στο κανάλι της Ένωσης, κοντά στο κέντρο της πόλης που περιέχει και παλιά κτίρια που ταιριάζουν με την εποχή του καναλιού.. αξίζει να επισκεφτεί έστω και μία βόλτα είναι σκέτη απόλαυση..

Lovely part of Edinburgh. It used to be an industrial part of town but now the factories have gone it is a trendy place to be, it has restaurants and cafes nearby, people walk, run or cycle past and there are canal boats docked permanently where some people live. The Watershed Cafe on a canal boat is also there.

Cool area just to hang out. The bridge itself is an interesting design and canal has some decent spots. The main problem is the amount of litter. It would be a lot better if the council put more bins in

It's a beautiful place especially during summer. You can spend some time with your family or just go there for a relaxing walk.😌😌❤️

An interesting bridge and s convenient place to cross the canal

Bit of a landmark this place. Been walking, cycling on it all my life. It's just been done up and it quite interesting should you ever see it up to let the boats go through. Lovely.

Excellent walk along the canals with beautiful views all along the way. Be mindful of cyclist as there are plenty who use the path and its not very wide. Canoe trail. Great day trip for a cyclist

This bridge has recently undergone restoration to get it working again. It's a good place to stop for photographs and to cross the canal.

A piece of historical infrastructure on the Union canal. Close to the city centre, surrounded by old and new buildings, worth a look.

The position is just on the canal , wonderful. Soy milk cappuccino was good , brownie cake not so much. Pity!

Great way for getting across town for pedestrians or cyclists. Leamington bridge isn't often lifted. So it's rarely the case you can't cross over it. It's a great location for photographers. When the sun is setting and the sky is clear, its fabulous to photograph. You can see tree silhouettes and the sun/sky colours reflecting in the water. It's almost a guarantee for there to be barges there too. Also there's often ducks and swans in the canal. If your crossing the leamington lift bridge to avoid busy crowds at peek time's or want a more direct route ( no bus goes along leamington terrace) it's a total time saver if your not in a car/ taxi. You can walk from leamington lift bridge to Bruntsfield in 15 mins going uphill to Bruntsfield and less than 10 coming back as it's going downhill. There's only one road you need to cross, after leamington lift bridge to come out by "Best western plus" hotel (previously "the Bruntsfield hotel). In a bike from Bruntsfield links to leamington bridge it'd be 5 mins or less? at a guess. At the moment there's work being done on the bridge with scaffolding (April 2019). It's not particularly obvious, however, you can still cross the canal at that point, cyclists are required to dismount to cross as it's a temporary bridge. Probably for safety reasons too as it's narrow and children could be crossing.

The counter blend is delicious, the boat is lovely and where it's moored is just beautiful. Oh, and the Barista's are great too! Always loved coming here for a coffee.

Curioso puente de principios de siglo XX, que se encuentra en la zona final del Union Canal. Se levanta y se baja para dejar pasar embarcaciones y es un punto de partida fantástico para dar un paseo por este canal, y es que además la zona alrededor de él ha sido mejorada en los últimos años.

Good coffee from this cute narrow boat on the canal. Nice tasting roast, well executed with a Sanremo machine, and also decent latte art! Perfect for on-the-move or in Summer days, but even in October I was able to spend a pleasant few minutes sipping my coffee sat at one of the tables on the walkway. Prices are in line.

My favourite location in Edinburgh at sunset...the way the light bounces of the surface of the canal, beautiful!

A gem on the canal- was thrilled to come upon this coffee boat bright in early when I was desperate for coffee. Friendly and a nice location- they even have chairs for lingering (although it was blowing a bit when I stopped by). Really ingenious spot for a coffee shop!

good to historical renovation but watch out for speeding cyclists

Best thing I have ever tasted and not seen them since! Bring back the salted caramel brownies! Lovely spot on the canal with deck chairs out in good weather.

I really enjoyed coming across this floating coffee shop! The weather was absolutely baking so my boyfriend and myself decided to take a break to unwind before a house-viewing and the gentleman serving us was the most lovely and helpful man! The coffee was great, and we also had a salted caramel cookie I couldn't fault. I think because of the smaller size of this establishment the service is very personal which I enjoyed. I would definitely recommend this spot, if not for the coffee and service, for the views of the canal!

An amazing stop for coffee, the guy serving was real gentleman, polite and charming. The coffee was amazing and the cookies were to die for.

Interesting lift bridge on the historic Union Canal

The floating branch of the counter on the canal is great. They make amazing coffee and their cookies are irresistible. Very friendly staff. I love my morning coffee at the counter (they have a cast iron kiosk in Tollcross and outside usher hall as well)

Absolutely fabulous coffee and hot chocolate, lovely staff. Worth making your way here to enjoy watching the world go by and an excellent coffee.
