Food was good, very staff friendly

Wanted to try food here for a while… The pub was quite busy on arrival. Our table was booked for 4:30 we ordered the food on the app for convenience, and worryingly it arrived at the table within about 15mins! We were initially impressed that the service was really fast considering the pub was busy, however… shortly after we left me and my partner both felt slightly unwell. The food was standard for Greene king. Both me and my partner were both sick and unwell this evening. It’s a shame.. won’t be going back. We ordered the steak sandwich and the crispy chicken burger with loaded fries.

Ale selection and condition has dramatically improved recently. Food is garbage chain fare but my pint of Oakham black IPA was kept fantastically well.

Food was hot when served, plentiful and tasty, and of good quality. Did not have to wait very long. Did not book, but accommodated with a table.

A great experience (as always) from arrival to departure. Food is always top notch, and the staff are very helpful.

Great breakfast and great service. Happily go again.

Had Sunday roast, The roast potatoes tasted dry in side and they put the gravy on for you which spoilt it for me as I do not like a lot. The veg was very nice But apart from that we enjoyed it.

Couldn't believe we had to pay extra for mashed potatoes on our Sunday roast , don't they think that 13 99 , is enough, I thought mash was standed, plus the dinner was only just warm , never again,

Ordered two well done rump steaks, both were tough and very chewy, I sent mine back as it still had blood coming out of it, they replace the steak but unfortunately I could not eat it as it was still so tough I could hardly get my knife through it even though it was a steak knife and gave me jaw ache trying to eat it, so both my steak and my mother's was taken home for the dogs as that's all it was fit for. Will not be going for steak again as clearly the chef on does not know how to cook steaks or the steaks bought are of inferior beef that made it so tough.

Nice service, very average food

We really enjoyed our three course Festive Lunch yesterday. The food was delicious, and the Cornmill Team were welcoming and friendly. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Serving good food and a good selection of beers this Green King pub is situated on the corner of a busy main road junction. It has plenty of parking and a nice ambiance inside. Staff are friendly and attentive. There is an outdoor play area for kids and it is conveniently situated very near to Chillwell Retail Park and a small shopping precinct. Shops nearby include TK Max, Halfords, Matalan, Sports Direct, Next, M&S food store Lidl and others. A car superstore is very close too. If you are out for a few hours shopping here then visiting this pub for lunch is highly recommended when they serve a good value lunchtime menu.

I always think Greene Kings are amazing. Yeah they’re a chain and it’s expensive for a pub but the food is so good.

The best pub I have been so far!

Visited last week with our friends , second time and we were just as pleased as the first visit . The pub was very busy when we got there ( 7pm ) , the car park was crowded . Luckily we had booked in advance and the table we had asked for was reserved for us . In some venues this does not happen, they seem to think a table nearby is acceptable. We ordered our favourites, 3 steak and ale pies and one gammon. We didn’t wait long and we were soon tucking into our piping hot meals . Once again the staff are helpful and polite without being intrusive. The Cornmill is fast becoming our favourite place to eat out.

Wow what has happened to the food at this place used to come here most Sundays for Lunch and for a chain pub wasn't to bad went today and I can honestly say the food we were served up was dire the quality was so poor it was disgraceful the roast potatoes were awful the carrots tasted like they had been braised literally in sugar the broccoli frozen the peas frozen the beef tough the turkey tasted like it had just been sliced from the deli counter gravy thick and gloopy and to top it off the drinks took 25 minutes to be delivered to the table - The food quality clearly not the pubs fault they can only work with the ingredients they are given from Greene King to sum it up Expensive and Rubbish Food

Nice atmosphere and polite servers but kitchen closes at 2000 so not a place to eat if you like a later supper.

Tried three different real ales on latest visit. The pint of Nottingham EPA was fairly poor but just about drinkable. Then tried Tribute, which was completely off and tasted like vinegar. After a long wait it was eventually grudgingly conceded that they would swap the Tribute for something else, but the something else turned out to be equally disappointing to the initial EPA. Left in order to find a decent pint elsewhere and won't be returning unless the standard of their real ales improves substantially.

The steaks are delicious every time!Tom was absolutely fantastic finding us a table in no time.

Booked a table for 7.30 went to order food just after 8 to be told the kitchen was closed, website says food served till 9, if food times have changed website needs to be updated, im sure this must of happened a few times now

When my niece was working here on Christmas Day 2021 she was so stressed out she came home, burst into tears, then fell asleep. She soon left.

Great place to grab a bite to eat and a drink. Closed early, though it was a nice atmosphere.

Seated quickly, staff were friendly and helpful and checked a couple of times that our food was fine. Rather busy and noisy for a weekday evening and kitchen closed quite early.

A party of 50 guests shared a delicious, freshly prepared finger buffet with fabulous mini jacket potatoes, hot chips and deliciously fresh assorted bread sandwiches with plenty of filling etc etc. Great experience. Would recommend to all.

We had eaten at a few Green king location in the 7 days prior to visiting the Corn Mill and I have to say the food and in particular the service was the best we had at the Corn Mill The speed and attentiveness of the Staff were just outstanding. Although the food is similar / same suppliers in chain restaurants, the food here was just amazing in taste and presentation.

We've been to this food pub a few times, its comfortable and reasonably priced. The food has always been good and as a pub it offers a good range of drink and food we sat outside and it was reasonably busy. The food was well presented, cooked and tasted exactly as expected. It was a great price for the two of us and the service was friendly and efficient . The location is reasonable opposite a lot of shopping venues. and near a nature reserve. parking is easy to access and most of the disabled parking is located near the rear of the carpark around from the side which is probably what is the front of the pub. Even though the pub is technically located on the main road for where most of their outdoor tables and play area are, the hedges minimalise traffic noise fairly well. i`d recommend this pub

It's a really lovely restaurant near Attenborough lake. My wife had the squid and the Hunters Chicken. I had the BBQ jack meal. The order was quick to make, I doubled up for only two pounds. The burger was beef patty with pulled beef in BBQ sauce with Monterey chicken. It contained fries, coleslaw and onion rings on side. The squid was perfectly cooked with tartar sauce. The hunters Chicken was very good and very tender and recommended. My wife could not finish the chips. Big portion. Expensive compared to other pub restaurants but the quality is there.

Well worth a visit, disabled access good, great food, good selection of beers.

Busy Greene King pub/restaurant. Food very good and served quickly. Good selection of beers and wines and give CAMRA membership discount. May have detected a little bit of shrinkflation with portion sizesbut a sign of times rather than criticism. Overall a good dining experience. Will return

Nice food, nice surroundings, well furnished. Only shame is the yobbos that use it as a second home. At times the noise and throwing themselves around makes a really nice pub a bit hostile.

Had a lovely lunch with family last Saturday, food was delicious, great value, quick service and it was busy so we were impressed and dog friendly.

An update after a return visit by my wife. This is a third party review on behalf of my wife who visited today. She advises that her steak dinner was truly dire. The medium rare steak was extremely tough, virtually inedible. The accompanying chips were cold and the whole meal depressingly poor. The indifferent treatment by the female waiting staff added to a woeful experience that will never have the opportunity of being repeated. A lesson learned. Avoid this place. My previous review below after a first family visit:- Popular for dining and socialising on a Sunday afternoon. I had a Sunday roast dinner - a plate of roast beef, slightly undercooked and cool green vegetables all dominated by a large Yorkshire pudding the whole served barely warm enough. The staff were helpful and efficient but my nearly £14 single plate of uninspiring food left me feeling underwhelmed by the visit.

It was very pleasant. Good tasty food. Child friendly with an outside play area. Sadly I was slightly to old to use the apparatus.

We visited the Corn Mill last night with friends who hadn’t been before. Must say they were very impressed with service from start to finish . We had pre booked a table and unlike some establishments we actually sat at the table we requested. Spoilt for choice on the menu we eventually settled on hunters chicken , gammon , steak and chips and the delicious pie. We didn’t wait long at all for our meals and each one was pipping hot and perfectly cooked . Clean plates all round and a further order of drinks was bought to our table . The staff once again were attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely be visiting again with our friends.

The staff sorted a table for 12 last minute, for food and drinks. The area was clean and spacious. The food was served in good time and all meals were served together as much as possible. The food was presented well, good portion sizes no complaints, we asked for extra bits during the meal and this was no problem and came in a timely manner to complement our meals. The staff were great all round. Management, bar staff and table waiters and waitresses. Big shout out to Hugh he was brilliant nothing was too much trouble he was friendly, attentive, professional and personal at the same time.

Just got back from The cornmill, been looking forward to the Madonna tribute that they had advertised on the board outside for a few weeks so made sure we were there tonight in time for the act starting. The 1st set was good, as advertised Madonna tribute did all Madonna songs, bought more drinks ready for the 2nd set and same act came back on singing random songs that weren't Madonna. So we left. Think when entertainment is advertising a Madonna tribute night that's what it means, anyone coming in that missed the first half must have been disappointed, been to other pubs for tribute nights and that's what they've been, all night, false advertising, bit of a disappointment.

Had a rump steak which was cooked perfectly, beer was great with a nice atmosphere. Will visit again!

The staff are brilliant The food as gone down hill. The meat is good except the beef. Do you know the staff take a lot of abuse because of the beef .it not there fault. It your fault for allowing that rubbish to be served

Table 9, 18.45 booking for 4. 11.7.23. We came from Portmouth on a visit to see our son, I had the steak and rudders ale pie, the pie was huge but sadly lacked in filling...4 small pieces of meat. I really enjoyed my pastry,chips and peas. £13 well spent..NOT

Not been here for a few years and now both retired we fancied a day off from cooking . We didn’t book but arrived just after 12 lunchtime. The place was buzzing , not too busy but it was obviously very popular. Most people seemed to be there for a meal and I must say I expected a wait for our food. First visit … we ve been twice in a few days … yes it was that good ! … first visit we both ordered chicken breast burger and chips and Coleslaw… served piping hot by a very nice and polite young man , and no we didn’t have a long wait .. There was plenty to eat , maybe a bit too much as we very now seen we could have ordered the chicken breast without the bun which will do next time . Second visit today Tuesday… we took our time and actually read the menu properly… both opted for the mini mixed grill which was delicious. The chicken in particular was very nice . The staff are attentive without being intrusive. Think we will be regularly dining here !

The party of 24 had great food and the serving staff were very professional and nothing was too much trouble, especially after us changing the requirements quite a few times!. Had a very nice gammon steak here. Cooked to perfection, reasonably priced and great service.

Food was ok. Staff was miserable, ( apart from the bar staff), especially I think the manager. No welcome etc. we booked a table for 9 on the internet but a couple of days before we arrived I telephoned to let them know we had a family member in a wheel chair and to put a table on the flat. When a family member arrived they had put us in an area with a couple of steps telling them we had not let them know and it was a good job we were early. Not pleasant. When I arrived I addressed the problem and the (manager) I think was not pleasant. Also, just be careful if you have the apple crumble as the dish it came in was scolding and I burnt my fingers. I addressed this with a waitress who told me it was meant to be hot. Thank goodness a child did not pick it up. Will think before we go again
