Me and my family were looking for a place to have Sunday roast and Google suggested me this place. We went and, as soon as we entered, we asked if we could have a table for 3. The owner looked at us and asked us if we had a booking. We didn't have a booking and the place was empty: there were no customers apart from a group of friends of the owner. The owner then said to us that they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate us. So we just left and looked for another place instead. They pride themselves of having a friendly atmosphere but I can assure you that this place is not the case!!! They clearly didn't want to serve us as we were just visiting the Isle of Sheppey and are not from the area. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!

The pubs decor is nice very old worldy and drinks aren't bad either the pub having a fair selection to please most people's tastes, but that's where it ends really for positives the bar staff seemed distracted chatting with the locals who at times got a bit loud and use some unfavourable language with children present and the Sunday lunch was nothing like what I had expected from reading other reviews before going, I did find out later from a conversation with one of the older locals that it used to be different (better in there word) before new management took over and so I presume the previous good rating where from a longer time ago, so overall if you want a drink and your nearby give it a shot but wouldn't recommend personally the Sunday lunch

A group of us came here for dinner on Thursday evening. We phoned in advance and our table was ready for us on arrival. Good menu choices to suit all tastes and very reasonable ( majority £7/£8 for mains), good portion sizes, and also good for the kids too who all cleared their plates. Great selection of puddings too, which came in two sizes which ment the kids could have the same as the grown ups, but a bit smaller portion, perfect. Overall great service, great food, reasonably priced and family friendly. I would definitely return if in the area again, and recommend if you need a change of scene and are nearby. We came across this hidden away pub while out cycling and decided to stop for a drink. The pub is what a typical country pub should be cosy and with a good atmosphere and a few friendly locals. We left the pub agreeing to return next time for a meal in the adjacent dining room. We did visit again on a Sunday, the roast was one of the best I've had for a while and plenty of it. The staff were friendly and efficient. Great deserts were on offer as well as cheese and biscuits but unfortunately we were stuffed. We have now agreed to return to The Coppice next time to save room for the deserts, and if anything like the main meals they will be well worth the bike ride.

This is our second time back on the island and also visiting The Coppice pub.Last time we visited I came in alone for a quiet night cap and ended up staying for a few, talking to the friendly locals. Immediately as you walk through the door of this classic cosy pub, you can tell the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The bar staff are lovely, full of brilliant banter and smiles. Shelly (one of the owners or manager I think) runs a very tight ship and it shows, she always welcomes you in with a lovely "Hiya, how're you". Drinks are incredibly reasonable, as is the food! One of the locals recommend we came in for Sunday lunch and spoke about it so highly we booked in immediately. I have to say it was gorgeous. Piping hot and full of flavour. Lovely fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked, as were the roast pots and Yorkshire pud. We had 2 large roast dinners, a desert and drink and came to just over £20. All in all. This is a great little pub and well worth finding!! We'll be back again for sure. Thank you :) xx
