Eaten here more times than I should have since my last review - usually breakfast, as I just can't get enough of the delicious 'green eggs' dish I have raved about before on here! Had a nice chat with the chap I think is the owner on one of these recent occasions. Late morning last Friday when we arrived all the tables were full - great to see this in a small, independent, local business. For a change, took visiting friends for lunch here on Wednesday - visitors said their food was excellent, & they loved the apple crumble with toffee sauce & ice cream that followed, my husband enjoyed his raspberry gateau but as ever, I couldn't possibly fit anything else after my main! I've been mentioning this place to pretty much everyone I come into contact with & can't recommend it highly enough, whether you just want a 'cuppa & fine piece', or a 3 course lunch, or anything in between. Service is right up there, too, & staff are delightful.

We visited here on Sunday late lunchtime for a coffee and a sandwich. It is very well presented and design somewhat quirky. It is a little tight to move around but only when there is a queue at the counter. I have enjoyed Americanos in many countries over many years. I do not take sugar. On that basis I will comment: I did not like the coffee it was bitter in the extreme. More a continental brand/blend, almost. The cups are small which for me at least, on this occasion, is sufficient. However, every table has a bottle of water which I feel is needed....at least for me. My family enjoyed it so personal preference I guess. Tea is limited to obscure flavoured varieties - my preference being Oo Long (not listed). The sandwiches are well presented but the choices are a bit extreme. I had the Cajum Smoked salmon. The sandwich plate is substantial but again not really to my liking - enjoyed it nevertheless. So overall, The Apothecary is not for me but will, without question, have its regulars and is worth a visit. I feel for me, too many "add-ons" both coffee wise and sandwich wise. I wish it success and a bold step for those wishing, or returning for, that extra experience.

Finzean Estate Farm Shop & Tea Room

10/03/2019: Stopped in by for a quick coffee and browse around the well stocked farm shop. Very happy with our choice of cake accompanied by an excellent Americano and Mocha.
02/10/2018: On our way for a stay in Ballater to attend the Braemar Gathering the next day, we chose to stop at Finzean Estate Farm Shop & Tea Room, having recently eaten at Potarch, Aboyne, Ballater & Braemar on another trip.
