There are now two establishments with this name - the original one in the small village of Udny, and a second one in the town of Ellon. My comments relate to the Ellon one, but I'm sure the menu is the same for both. I went in for a light lunch, and thought that all the items on the menu sounded a little more substantial than I wanted, as well as being priced around £12. Even the sandwiches were not cheap. In the vent I decided to have just the soup followed by coffee and cake. It was potato and leek soup, which I thought was acceptable although nothing very special. However the chunk of bread with it was delicious. I'm not sure why, but it was a delight. I believe they make their own. My coffee and cake was also very nice. I had a piece of rhubarb sponge which the waiter recommended to me, and I really enjoyed it, but there were at least half a dozen other things there I could have had. So for me I would see it as a place for tea or coffee and cake.

Finlays Fish Bar & Cafe

04/03/2019: I visit Scotland quite a few times every year. The Scots know how to do a fish supper! I do some research as to the best chippy to go to for wherever i am staying. Findlay's came up good for my trip to Fraserburgh. Now i would expect a chip shop that is literally 100 yards from a major fishing port to be a high scorer in the fish and chip department and this place didn't let me down. I sat inside and had the Jumbo Haddock, chips and peas for i think just under a tenner. On a par with Zenres chippy in Peterhead just a few miles away the haddock was melt in the mouth gorgeous with light crispy batter to die for. The chips were chunky and the peas appeared to be Bird's Eye, could be wrong but they certainly weren't cheap and cheerful ones. All washed down with a pot of tea. Plenty of staff on hand, very polite and made sure everything was to the customers satisfaction. Oh how i wish you had a branch near me!
22/04/2019: Great fish & chips, freshly prepared. Good service. Always come here when visiting my family. Best fish and chips in Aberdeenshire.
