The Cod House in Carrickfergus

To me the best fish and chips in Carrickfergus.

Other half was getting a domino's so popped in while waiting. The place was freezing. First thing I noticed were the prices, which were a lot higher than on just eat ( There are no menus on website or Facebook and although I requested one it never appered). Got the child a kids pastie meal. The portions are smaller than others in the area and incude drink OR dip not both. Some Chips were very hard around the edges and nearly broke a tooth. Although not greasy. Pastie was nothing special. A big bug bearer is that they are "cash only" I don't get this, most businesse owners will tell you if costs more to lodge cash. Customers should at least have the choice. Cards were good enough during the pandemic. There are others in town way better, cheaper and larger portions. Based on today's experience I won't be back. If they accept cards then maybe.

Best fish and chips we’ve ever had on holiday! The team at Cod House were incredible when we turned up asking for food for ten people near close! The fish is so tender and crispy, battered sausage and onion rings are amaxing and they even threw in a bottle of vinegar! If you are looking for fish and chips in the area THIS is the place to go!

On holiday from London, I was told if you want a good cod & chips Cod House is the place to go. So I drove all the way from central Belfast and not only I wasn’t disappointed but also surprised how fresh and delicious the fish was. The stuff were welcoming & friendly too. Thumbs up, 100% recommended.

Fish was decent size and just tasted average. One of those, it filled a whole, was'nt bad but not great either. Chips quite hard and needed cooked longer. Scampi is battered and was good in fairness.

We are regular customers of the Cod House in Carrickfergus and the food is always outstanding. Recently I tried the Christmas chip and it was excellent. My favourite is the chicken burger! Highly recommended! 👍 Great to have the delivery option now aswell for those busy days.

Great spot. We had our lunch here today £5 each for a tasty mixed box. All cooked perfect. We were waiting on getting our car fixed at a local garaged so asked if we could sit in and eat it. The lady was so lovely... Got us proper cutlery and extra salt and vinegar. Will definitely be back!

Just had dinner from the Cod House it was beautiful tried the haddock and hubby loved it more than his usual cod also the scallops are a must try will definitely be ordering again soon great friendly atmosphere staff are lovely give yourself a nite of the cooking head to the Cod House

just paid £4,29 tonight for a gravy chip with a spoon full of gravy on them, what a rip off.Not amused!

This has to be one of, if not the best chippy in Carrick. The fish are a 2 man lift and actually come with chips…Unlike the most expensive chippy in Carrick “Hot spot”.

Best fish and chips in Carrick, no question. The mid week deals are very good value for money also. We frequently split the number one (sausage, fish bite, 2 onion ring, chicken goujon and chips) for lunch.

First time ordering from here , food was excellent and staff were lovely, best chippy in Carrick !!.

Was so disappointed with our chippy from cod house the batter was hard an greasy the cod inside was glued to the batter and not like cod at all so not even an option to eat the fish without the batter and the chips were extremely greasy and when delivered it wasn't very warm the quality was such only ate a little and rest went to the bin, will not be back.

Don't ever get a small taco chip from here as it wouldn't fill a hole in you're tooth. One half a scoop of chips and they have a cheek to charge you 4 pound odds. If you're looking a good sized taco chip travel 6 mile up the road from this to the clarence in ballyclare . They will sort you're wagon!! Ps wont be back

We were passing through Carrickfergus and called in here looking for traditional fish and chips, it may look a bit ordinary on the outside and although they serve a range of similar products we stuck to tradition. The large cod portions were cooked to perfection in crispy golden batter and sweet juicy cod inside, absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back here if we are in the region again. Excellent.

Terrible place with very slow staff and the food is not very good for being a chip shop, they need to change their oil more often. The place looks run down and it also looks ready for closing.

Our local chippy. Great value, quick service and good food. We've been here several times and haven't been disappointed yet. :-)

The fish was excellent. The chips were fine. The bacon in the burger was really fatty but it was a good burger. The chicken burger had a spicy breadcrumb which gave the chicken burger a nice kick. We were delighted that it opened until 9pm on a Monday night as we needed to eat at 8:30pm. There is a sit in area but there didn't look to be much atmosphere, it was more functional. Really happy with out carry out.

Have been here regularly over the past few years. When the chips are cooked fresh they're great however we've had them several times where they're awful. Our guess is they've been fried multiple times, has put us off returning. The other items you get are standard and tasty but the chips have been a big let down for us

This chippy is easily the best in Carrick. Great portions and brilliant staff. Never had a bad meal from this place and have been going since it opened.

Es agradable, la comida es normalmente bueno. Utilizan salchichas adecuadas y no ellos catering barata salchichas. Las patatas fritas son geniales. Algunas grandes ofertas en demasiado. El personal es bastante agradable. Aunque cuando me estaba mirando las insignias con avión para mis hijos uno dijo que hay que pagar por ellos y nos fuimos a la gente a robar. Me sentí como si me acusó de robar. Era un poco molesto. Todo lo que yo estaba buscando era una Red Arrow para ellos.

The staff here are great. Linda always makes the customers laugh. Some chippys only give you fish but here you get a few chips with your fish or pasty etc. Even the kids meals are a good size.

Went to these premises a few times always believing in giving another chance to redeem themselves ,but to be honest it is bad.the fish is hard to find wrapped up in thick batter which is obviously a cost saving scam.the staff are the worst i have ever come across ,just basically a bunch of plebs.never again.

Hemos estado aquí un par de veces siempre me pareció normal, siempre vuelvo comercialización mi pedido y cuando entregue dinero, pensando que he ido a China cocina al lado. Patatas fritas son agradables si comido inmediatamente, pero no agradable si la izquierda 5 minutos o así.

Como los Estados Unidos de cabecera. Tuvimos una cena de pescado del bacalao House y las patatas fritas eran frescas y bueno, pero el bacalao era sólo un promedio que era decepcionante. guisantes de blanda son buenas. Las raciones son grandes y personal amable. Los amigos tenían comidas similares y todo nos pareció normal para un poco mejor o 6 de 10.

A cod and a cod supper was the worst I have ever had even my dogs wouldn't eat it £9.80 for basically a plate of chips won't b back near it

Not really a chippy fan myself but treat kids every so often. It's the other end of the town from me and I pass 4-5 others to get there. Good prices generous portions and the funniest bunch of girls serving. Definitely the best in Carrick. They also do a 2oz burger which is great for the kids and give you plenty of curry sauce. Craic is great too.

Such amazing food at this chippy, however the standards and manners of the workers, as you can see In pact the review greatly! On a few occasions I've been into the chippy and the workers behind the counter have spoken to me as if I'm a child! Not suitable, and everything is done with an attitude!

This is the best value chippy in Carrick and the quality is great as well. Big portion sizes and they give you 3 sausages in a sausage supper for the same price as 2 which is what everywhere else gives.

This is my all time favourite chippy. They serve great food at great prices! The staff are always smiling and friendly. I've always suggested to others t go here for their food. I don't have a single bad word about this place!

There are quite a few chippys in Carrick, and the Cod House is probably the furthest one away from where I live, but it's the only one I go to these days, because it's by a long shot, the best in Carrick.The shop is always spotlessly clean, they have a great menu, all the usual stuff you'd expect on the menu, and more (try their taco chips, delicious!!)Staff are also very friendly. Make this your go to chippy!

The Cod House is definitely the best chippy in Carrickfergus. They have a diverse menu and offer everything you would expect and more. All food is fresh and reasonably priced, def our first choice for a takeaway!
