Very popular country pub. Election of real ales cider lager etc. The food is great with huge portions. Also dog friendly in the bar. Staff are great and very helpful . Can't fault it

Monday is all you can eat curry night & it's fantastic. 4 different curries, veg dish, rice, a tray of bhaji, samosas, nann bread, poppadoms. Plus you can request more of anything. Mark, was very friendly & made sure we had all we needed.

Great value food, with a varied menu, in an old traditional style pub. Called in mid afternoon when many other places weren’t serving food. Delighted that food is served here all day. Recommend by friends and will definitely return.

Having visited before we were looking forward to Sunday roasts today. Sadly we were really let down. Plates turned up with heavily over stewed veg which was virtually cold. Infact the only warm thing on the plate was the meat. Everything else had obviously been heated up from earlier or sat around for too long. Cauliflower cheese had clearly been heated up more than once. We were still charged full price although most of the food was inedible. Therefore we won't be back.

I have always loved this place. I love it even more after a visit today and they now do a gluten free roast! The food was so good, the portions are huge, the staff are lovely… the rest of my friends attest that the deserts are also delicious (I was too full!). All round great traditional pub vibe, and you won’t leave hungry!

A very quiet night, to be fair probably down to the bad weather. The service was good ,a nice friendly manner from the young girl who was clearly new. Unfortunately the food was not that special, my husband's meal was totally covered in a sauce which meant he had to hunt for the salmon. Not many options for someone with gluten and dairy intolerance.

Lovely pub. Food was great, desserts yummy. Will be coming again when we next visit Norfolk.

What a hidden gem this place is, first time I've been n all I can say is wow, from the minute you walk in the door, you're greeted with a friendly smile, the food is amazing, the staff, 2nd to none, polite, smiling and all of them with fruendly banter, it's a great atmosphere, signed up for their loyalty card as we will 100% be back to try their themed nites, curry nite, pie nite and steak nites throughout the week, can't wait to come back...

We were made very welcome. The food oh what can I say about it that would be doing it justice. The steak was done how I like which is usual. My friend has dietary requirements and they catered for that the whole way through her meal. There was no rushing of the food we could eat at are pace. Thank you all would recommend you to anyone. Proper East Anglian countryside pub, good selection of local ales and great British pub food. The staff are very friendly and down to earth, quietly efficient and chatty. The pub's reputation for great food and service is well deserved.

We like coming to this pub for good value, tasty food and excellent service. The beer is nicely kept with a selection of ales. Should also make note of the wide selection of single malt whisky stocked.

Had a table booked for 8pm on Saturday night The staff were friendly and the service was quick They had a two for one steak deal We decided to have fillet steak which was £30 It came with peas chips and tomato We decided to order a salad, portion of onion rings and vegetables on the side We were very disappointed in the salad and infact we didn't eat it. It wasn't what we thought their salad would be (usually 80% lettuce few tomatoes and other bits) it came all cut up very small looked a mess We ordered the steaks medium rare, however they were slightly too rare for us and not cooked in the middle The steak itself needed to be seasoned as it was just plain and cooked with no seasoning what so ever Chips, peas onion rings and veg were good, tasty and hot However there was a piece of cling film left in the vegetables so they had obviously been microwaved It's decently priced and nothing i could see in the menu was too expensive, so great for casual pub food Overall pretty average but the staff were lovely and really helpful A young girl took our order and she was very knowledgeable on the menu

My wife and I have eaten three times in the last week here, including a Sunday Lunch. The food and service are excellent - Mark and his family and team give a warm welcome and excellent service. Particularly recommended - the Roast Beef Sunday lunch and the steak and kidney suet pudding - though this latter is not always available (ask when making a booking!) All very good - well worth searching this place out!

Very friendly staff, really made welcome, mark the under manager really friendly when we left we felt we had known him for a while, would highly recommend if your ever passing, food is excellent too, was a pleasure to get to know them all. 😀

Lovely traditional pub food of high quality, cooked to perfection. Great, friendly service, deserts to die for, and dog friendly! Highly recommended.

We went along for the wings and ribs night and had a very enjoyable meal. Superb value for money. It was £18.99 for unlimited chicken wing, pork ribs, chips and slaw. My only criticism, and it's only a very small one would be to have to sauce on the side. Also maybe add a couple of additional dipping sauces to the menu. I'm personally not a bbq fan and this was their sauce of choice. I know I'm in the minority of loving bbq sauce. It was great to see the venue pack and doing well!

This is a lovely country pub. I would suggest booking early as it gets busy. The portions are massive and there is lots of choice for all dietary requirements.

Been to this pub today for Sunday lunch visiting friends in the area, food was amazing so tasty, fresh and plentiful. We will definitely be going back again while we are here for 2 weeks. Staff helpful and pleasant a must try pub.

Very SLOW service, orders taken wrongly. Had to ask for salt & pepper. There seemed NO real urgency, Very dissapointing, as have always found this good pub.

My husband and myself visited on a Saturday lunchtime, we had pre-booked as know it gets busy. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table.Our drinks and food orders were quickly taken and we did not have to wait very long for either. We both decided to choose different food to what we usually order here. I chose vegetable korma which came with rice and a popadom, it was nice (was full of lots of vegetables) and my husband chose 3 starters to have for a mains. These were garlic bread, cheesy chips and south fried chicken strips. He really enjoyed these and so did I as couldn’t resist trying them.We decided to have a dessert, pineapple pavalova for my husband and banana split for me, both really tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient too.Whilst it doesn’t look modern /tidy on the outside the pub is quirky / old fashioned inside but it makes you feel at home. The pub is under new management and I really hope they don’t try to change it, change the menu or turn the pub into something it isn’t. This is a great local pub selling delicious food with a good atmosphere.

We were holidaying in nearby Reedham and had tried a local pub beside the ferry. Unfortunately it was not open and so I called The Cock Tavern to see if the had any availability. "We're fully booked for Sunday dinner, however if you can be here within the next 15 minutes we could squeeze you in". This didn't mean any bending of Covid rules, they just had a table available for early dinner. We quickly made our way there and were duly given a table. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Drinks arrived promptly followed by roast dinners. There were four empty plates at the end and four very happy diners. Desserts followed to finish the evening. A member of staff gave me a business card as I left which had a list of "Themed nights" on the reverse. We enjoyed our visit so much we returned later in the week for "Pie night". The staff recognised us from the Sunday and asked if we were enjoying our holiday. This is a well run pub with friendly, welcoming and engaging staff and I'd have no hesitation eating there again. I expect when Covid restrictions are fully lifted it may be difficult to get a table so phone in advance to avoid disappointment.

After struggling to find a dog friendly place to eat and get good food we came across the cock tavern even if we had to sit in the garden which I have too say is not very pleasant but the food was tasty hot and quick so swell done for that.I’m surprised that’s country pub would not allow dogs inside.

Covid restrictions well managed. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals - the steaks were cooked to perfection; the pie was tasty and served with seasonal vegetables.

Thursday night is advertised as Steak Night. Tonight's booking was made over 2 weeks ago, so it's not as though we weren't expected. No filet and no ribeye. Settled for tasteless chicken and dry oven chips. The fruit crumble for dessert was indescribably vile, goodness knows what the crumble topping was.When we complained about the lack of steak, we were given the answer, 'we can't know how many people will turn up'. That may be true to a certain extent, but if you are advertising a product, surely you should ensure you can deliver.I also watched a staff member cleaning a newly vacated table. She did not fully wipe the table and totally missed the touch-point of the chairs, which would be the right and left side of the seat.Very disappointed, will not be returning.

Covid system most impressive. All staff regular sanitising tables etc. Staff very friendly & efficient. Food was excellent.

Several of our neighbours had recommended this pub to us. Cycled up from Lingwood this morning for an early breakfast and it was delicious. Great value full English, perfectly cooked. My wife and sons had the vege option and loved theirs too. Staff were friendly. Definitely recommend. CE

Haven't been back to the Cantley Cock for about 15 years however now that our local has sadly been lost to Covid-19 we thought we'd give it a go and really pleased we did! The special was a massive T-bone steak that was cooked to perfection with well kept Ghost Ship to wash it down. Atmosphere was a little lacking however that's not at all unexpected given the current pandemic, we'll definitely visit again once it's over.If you are worried about Covid-19 then the slightly overbearing attention to safety will appeal! We had our temperature taken when entering the building and when the 1st thermometer failed to work rather then just letting us in anyway they went off to find another! We've been out in Norwich since the pubs reopened and nowhere else has been as diligent.All in all though a really good meal and thoroughly recommended.

We are regular visitors to The Cantley Cock and this was our first post lockdown visit. Food was lovely as always. My husband and I both had plaice and chips....very substantial portions and delicious fresh fish. Service was great as usual. Really clear, efficient and safe set up in regards to Covid. Please support this local business as they are only running at just under half capacity at present.

Stumbled upon this pub while out on a bike ride from Reedham where we are camping for the weekend. Food is amazing and great value for money. Staff are so friendly and warmly welcomed us, very covid secure and setup well to accommodate this new strange way of life!

This pub /restaurant is now open for sit down meals and still doing takeaways too. The food is excellent, faultless and our roast dinner was all fresh and home cooked. I had homemade Red pepper and tomato soup roast lamb and my husband had the roast pork and chocolate sundae for dessert. All served in a clean and safe way by excellent staff In a lovely friendly atmosphere. So glad to be back eating here again.

Restaurant closed due to Covid-19 Government shutdown, but we celebrated Mother's Day with a takeaway for our family of four. Staff were excellent and food to the normal high standard. Well done all.

A traditional little pub full of old farming tools brasses trinkets just like a country pub should be. The food is delicious great portions can't fault it. Lovely atmosphere and staff that will talk to you and very polite just what we like excellent.

What can i say about this wonderful restaurant. Made up for Reedham's bad pub and grub, This is wonderful home cooked food, very lovely staff who are friendly polite and professional, they all do a wonderful job. So reasonable too. Just loved it here.

We were recommended to go the the Cantley Cock for lunch and so glad we did. It was very busy, but managed to seat myself, mum and daughter with high chair comfortably. Food came out promptly despite large groups and it was simply the BEST steak and ale pie I've eaten, the pastry was amazing! Will definitely be coming back! Excellent food and service!

Best traditional Sunday Christmas lunch I’ve had in years. Normally this time of year results in below par, luke warm and overpriced meals - but not here. The plentiful food was well presented, piping hot and delicious. Service was prompt but not to hurried and the staff very kind and friendly. The place was packed with locals and very festively decorated which helped with the cheerful atmosphere. Definitely good value for money.Will definitely be coming again to sample to regular menu.

We’re part of a massive family - we enjoy getting together for a good Christmas meal, chance to exchange gifts for kids/grandkids etc.We had the festive menu - wide choice of hearty food, truly great service & excellent value for money. So full that hardly any of us could manage the mince pies or chocs which arrived at the end!Worth mentioning that this family run pub has suffered a significant bereavement; they’ve put a polite notice on the door asking customers not to talk about it with staff as it’s so sad/difficult for them to deal with, even though they know all comments are 100% well meant. We thought this was a really honest and sensible approach to take, and cannot praise the staff highly enough for their cheery, festive service ... we even got gifts from an elf at the end! Thanks to everyone involved for our lovely evening. (Still full!)

We have eaten there many times, and have Never had a poor meal. Great for Sunday Roasts, very good portions and very well presented, and got. Very good quality Food. We will be back again soon

We went here for a early family Christmas meal and it was a really nice evening.

Great food. Used to eat here often as we both work all day and it was somewhere we could go in the evening with the dog after leaving him all day. Great place to meet friends with dogs etc so unfortunately won't be visiting much any more after I called to book and found out they are no longer dog friendly.

What a great time we had! A pumpkin carving competition and a Halloween quiz! Everyone was so friendly. Had a super time. And best of all, I had a vegetarian Shephard's Pie that was absolutely delicious.

Really like the place as they serve good food and at a really good price but went in recently and they are now no longer dog friendly. It was ok on this occasion as I could leave my dog home but I often visited with my family who are unable to leave their dog home alone so we'll now have to go else where.

Lovely Sunday roast dinner with fabulous gravy. Pub was very rural, could do with tidying up a bit but okay as its very much a local village pub. Service was quick and able. I would certainly go again.

Fantastic characteristic country pub. Extensive menu all to a great quality. A very very popular restuarant where booking is essential. Highly reccommended.

We stopped on our way to Gt Yarmouth for lunch as we have in the past and our experience yet again was excellent. Good choices on the menu and there is also a specials board which is updated daily. There are also specials days, i.e. Monday is Curry day; Tuesday is Pie day; Thursday is steak day and Friday is Fish & Chips day. Must be good as saw so many people having fish and chips as was a Friday. We had starters of Garlic Mushrooms and Whitebait and we followed this with Country Cottage Pie and Chicken and Ham Pie all with a selection of vegetables. Food was served promptly and was very hot and lovely. Prices are fair and not too expensive. Only problem I had was paying as there was a major power cut as I went to pay and so no card machine and till could not be opened. Thanks go to a customer at the bar who found some change so that we could leave. We will always arrange to visit here whenever we are in the area as we really have enjoyed our visits and food at this establishment.

An enjoyable evening, good atmosphere and food very good. Plenty of choices and good value for money. The outside needs to be tidied up as rather scruffy now but unless you need to sit outside doesn't affect you.

Unwelcome. No dogs are allowed inside now. Told to sit untidy outside area. Food was barely average. Fish fried in old oil, duck breast served with orange marmalade and stewed vegetables.

When I was young eating in a pub was akin to a greasy spoon café but things have changed and in the last decade the quality and diversity of pub food has improved immensely.

Feel it is time to actually praise this place after several fantastic visits. To counteract some negative rubbish ive seen. It is a country pub. yes its a bit rustic...its honest. the food is good...staff very good.. anybody who expects the RITZ . this is NORFOLK county countryside at its best.We often come as a group of four and always have a good time.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime on way to relations and again we were so impressed by the food quality and service. I enjoyed a lovely pork casserole with saute potatoes and veg and my wife opted for scampi, chips and peas. Despite being busy the food arrival was prompt and with a smile on the servers face. Staff are all friendly and check that meals are good which is always appreciated. I so wish we lived closer as we would be very regular visitors. Looking forward to our next visit.

We booked giving two weeks notice for 12 of us. When we arrived our table was set up so we ordered our drinks and sat down. We discovered it was pie night and there was a choice of 6 or 7 which varied to the ones on the menu. Our orders were quickly taken and our starters promptly arrived. They were all delicious and our anticipation for our main courses rose.

We have been trying to get here before but it's so popular you need to book but we were in the area so we took a chance and was told we were lucky they had one table left.We had been told we must have the fish and chips we went for the beer battered cod with chips I had peas and other half had coleslaw this was lovely and so much I couldn't eat it all.They have an extensive menu including a vegetarian menu and roast dinner everyday.The pub is a lovely old world pub very popular and very busy.We didn't have to wait long for our meal will definitely revisit.Large car park in the middle of nowhere a real find
