Fantastic food, great service and staff could not have been more helpful. Had a couple of average meals here in the past but this time was lovely. Will definitely go again

We hadn't been to The Cock for an age. I was surprised but very grateful to get a reservation 3/4 hour before our sitting. A lovely lady on the phone worked her magic for us. Thank you again. We both had roast meals this Sunday visit. I have to say and no fibbing, this was the most delicious roast meal I've had in yonks. We don't have Sunday roast at home, so having one is a treat. The yorkie was almost plate size! All veg was so perfectly cooked, crispy where it should be, firmer where it needed to be, and tasty right the way around this feast. We appreciate you all immensely.

Very nice family meal for six people. We all enjoyed our freshly cooked meals, the steaks were cooked to perfection & the Sussex smokies, steak & ale pie & scampi were very tasty. Good portion size for everyone, only room for ice cream afterwards. It’s been at least a decade since I visited the pub. The price was fair & competitive. Will definitely return.

We visited for a Saturday evening meal. The staff were friendly and efficient, serving our drinks and food quickly. We had steak, turkey pie and sausage with mash, and all three meals were tasty and cooked perfectly. There was a good mix of customers which created a friendly and pleasant atmosphere - the roaring fire also helped. We shall return.

Stopped off here on spec for Sunday lunch. It was very busy and we hadn't booked but fortunately they were able to fit us in. We had the roast lamb and our friend the Sussex Smokie. It was all delicious and piping hot. Excellent service and a lovely open fire in the bar. Well worth a visit and obviously a popular place

Absolutely lovely traditional pub to visit. Great welcome, cosy vibes and a roaring fire, what more could you want? Well, I had probably one of the best burgers I've had in my life! Can definitely recommend the venison burger and chips. The wife and I had a Stilton and mushroom starter which was sublime. The only issue was had was....no room for desert! We'll be back soon to remedy this for sure.

The pub looks very enticing from the outside. However it flatters to deceive from the atmosphere and decor. The menu offers an array of bistro food. Unfortunately our experience was awful. Our party ordered the rump steak, prawn and chorizo linguine, the steak and ale pie and the pork belly. The steak was ordered rare but arrived well done. This was returned and a slightly better steak was offered. The prawn linguine pasta over cooked and was served dry and overpowered by the chorizo which was served as large chunks. The pork belly crackling was soft and chewy not crisp as it should be. The staff were friendly and attentive but the food was way below par. I’m sorry but they need to do better.

WOW! What an amazing FOH greeting, an absolute top notch menu, fantastic variety. All 3 of my courses were totally on point, superbly dished up & served, compliments to the chef, food was out of this world. 10 out of 10. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Claire & the rest of the staff. Highly, highly recommend.

We booked a last minute early evening meal with family members. Hadn’t been for several years (last visit was to the lovely garden but this was a winter’s night) and it was good to return. There was a warm welcome, great service and delicious food thank you. Mmmmmm.

Lovely staff but poor food. Linguine that was so overcooked it had almost turned to mush and was really very unpleasant and almost inedible. Carrot, coriander and orange soup that was definitely not! It was green and tasted of celery so presumably was actually vegetable soup. This was okay. Both were accompanied by white ciabatta type bread (garlic with the pasta) which was toasted and not very nice. The speed at which food was coming out made it clear nothing was freshly prepared and the microwave must have been working overtime.

The building is cosy and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and efficient, but the food. Oh dear! I hope the chef was having a day off before Christmas and it was not the normal standard. I had the liver and the other meal was the Sussex Smokie. The liver was a big lump of undercooked pig’s liver with lumpy mashed potatoes. It was not pleasant The Smokie consisted of 3 fingers of fish in a watery sauce. It was not pleasant. This used to be a favourite pub of mine, but I will wait before I try it again

What a lovely pub, had a good selection of food and when it arrived it was excellent. Staff were attentive and the service very good. We had a lovely lunch and plan to go back again. It has adequate parking, would suggest you book in advance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Cock Inn. It was a return visit and we were not disappointed, apart from a slight niggle that their Christmas decorations were only partially complete. The menu has a very good selection of choices and the food was beautifully presented and on hot plates! The portions were of a good size and the desserts gave a good choice with one or two more unusual items. Everything was delicious and the staff were polite and helpful. Overall a great evening and good value for money.

We visited as a party of 12. The roasts came out really quickly. The lamb was really nice quality and tender. There were vegetarian and gluten free options for the roasts as well. Even separate gluten free gravy. The pub had it's radiators on which was nice. Always a bonus when it's warm! I had the Mexican beef burger which was delicious. There was loads of guacamole in it. The chips were also fried to perfection. The Cock is dog friendly as well if you sit in a certain area.

Decided to visit The Cock after the great reviews! We were not disappointed! We all enjoyed tasty starters, followed by 3 different fish dishes - all cooked perfectly. We received a warm welcome & excellent service. We’ll be back!

Waited forever for our food which when it arrived was a massive disappointment. Economy deep fried calamari instead of fresh squid, a mezze board with processed hummus and Doritos and a bowl of prawns. Main courses were cold and extremely basic. Wont be going again.

We booked a Tuesday lunch and we were delighted. Even though the pub was busy the servers were very attentive and absolutely lovely. We asked for a quiet table, and we were in a smallish side room with just four tables. (We booked in advance) My brother had the plant based burger, which he said was delicious, I had a meat burger and it was very tender and tasty. The side of coleslaw was lovely and the chips were freshly made, hot and crisp. We didn’t have space for dessert, but the coffee was piping hot and good quality. Lots of space for parking, and really good value for money. We will definitely be returning.

Mother's Day family lunch today was disappointing! Booked a table in person at the beginning of February for today, and specified where we would like to be seated. A week ago a member of staff checked in with me again about our booking and numbers, etc. I reiterated where we would be seated and agreed. Today we arrived and we were seated in the main restaurant...not at all where i had requested to be told so sorry we got it wrong...how when we arrived at 12.10, 20mins before our allotted time of 12.30. Food was mediocre...btw if gluten free you dont get a Yorkshire pudding. We waited 45 mins for the meal and a further 40 mins for the dessert to arrive and eventually cancelled them. All in all very disappointing for a first time joint family meal. Wont be going there again.

The steak and ale pie is, hands down, the best I've ever had. I expected a mass production round pie with some limb veg. I got a massive slice of tender beef heaven. Surrounded by heaps of lush veg and light touch on the gravy. Brilliant

We found this restaurant from a Google search. An excellent choice! We both had pork medallions with roasted new potatoes and vegetables. The pork was really tender and vegetables perfectly cooked. Archetypal english country pub/restaurant. We only popped in for a drink whilst travelling but the food on show looked top notch. Anyone wanting a good Roast on Sunday wont be making a mistake here, just make sure you book up before though - it gets VERY busy !

Fantastic food, lovely garden and friendly service! I have been here a few times now and the food and service are always on point. I was especially impressed when we showed up once with a rather large group without a booking - hoping for a table but with no expectations - and we were warmly welcomed and our food came out hot and in a timely manner despite them being swamped. Great selection of options for dietary requirements (e.g., gluten free, vegan) as well. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub..lovely staff...delicious hot food but unfortunately our 2 meals arrived 20 minutes after our friends meals which was very strange as ordered at the bar at the same time ..obviously sitting at the same table but paid separately. Other than that a very pleasant afternoon and we will definitely be back.
