Everything was fresh. Meal was very tasty with just the right amount of spice. Loved the spicy potato.

Authentic South Indian Food and best Dosas also good options under Indian Street style food.options. The owner is always present to ensure good service & best food served, I dined here on Saturday evening with my friend and we fully enjoyed veg & non veg dosa sea food platter pani poori & masala tea & coffee, staff v friendly I was back here after a few years gap but pleased with the quality of food and fully recommend. All our dishes were medium hot if you want mild or extra hot just explain and they will cater your needs. My small feedback to the owners, some beverage/drinks prices are well above average costs as compare to other local restaurants & Masala Tea at £4.50 per person certainly needs a review but overall very good food good service hence 5 start rating from us.

Really pleased with my visit to the Cochin. Food is very different to the usual Indian fayre and very nice - I would recommend the dosas. The portion sizes were impressive. All the staff were lovely, The drinks selection was good and the Bombay Bicycle real ale a nice touch. I will definitely be going back.

Shocking, it has been confirmed as delivered and is not here. I rang the restaurant and they blamed traffic and in the same note said he hadn’t left yet! How is that possible. Will not order again…let’s see when and if the food arrives!

Had such a great time at Cochin. This is my all time favourite place to go. Appam with fish curry is go to dish. And I am always happy with it. Prawn fry was so mouth watering. Service is good ambiance is good too. All and all it’s the best restaurant in Bedford for foodies like me. I Would highly highly recommend it.

We've been here a few times but not for a while. Tonight's meal was really delicious. We had Samosa Chat, followed by Mushroom Masala and Paratha and Yogurt bomb puri, Aubergine curry and rice. Everything was perfect and the service was quick. We'll be back again as soon as we have an excuse to eat out again.

Excellent Indian affair doing delicious dosa and seafood curries. Also very friendly staff. One small critique was that the idli was slightly undercooked, but everything else was perfect.

Dined here with a group, and the food was good, but I have had better Indian food. This is a Southern Indian restaurant, and so many of the usual dishes you get in an Indian restaurant are missing from the menu. 'Dosa' are the speciality here. Service and ambience were also average. Prices are quite reasonable.

It’s been so long since having truely authentic Kerala food like my amma makes for me back home. Everything was so delicious and was a perfect treat for me and my boyfriend. The staff were also very nice and a lovely warm atmosphere inside. Will come again the next time we visit Bedford.

Authentic Kerala (South Indian) food. Have been going here for the past 4 years and the food is so good. The non-veg thali's I usually have are really good for sampling a lot of dishes. The Biryani style is more on the sweeter side (which the authentic) and I would highly recommend that as well!!!

For all the Appam fans out there, Cochin restaurant at Tavistock street is a must visit 😋 Totally enjoyed the whole experience with friendly staff service. Food was bland and was about 90% sauce. The aubergine curry should be thick with aubergine, but actually contained about 10 tiny pieces. Took 85 minutes from the point of ordering to delivery in Putnoe. Disappointing.

If you are interested in having kerala food at Bedford, Cochin restaurant is the best option for you.

If your are very hungry never go to this restaurant because they never serve food on time and never mind the customers as well.

No better place for dosa in Bedford. Delicious, freshly cooked food with a Keralan bias. Basic, no frills cafe style eatery with friendly, attentive staff with warm, genuine smiles. Big portions and very modestly priced. Alcohol is served here. Honestly, I think this is a secret gem of a place for tasty Indian food. The dosas are easily two foot long, crispy, just the right thickness and generously filled. I really loved the Keralan spiced chicken daal dish too.

Ordered Idly. Initially, I was so delighted that it's on the menu. It turned out to be a failure. The chutneys were but disappointing 😞. Never tasted such horrible chutneys ever. However, the sambar curry was OK 👍. Will never go there again 😒

Very, very authentic. The breads are amazing and suggest you try a few! Not a normal Indian but very close to the food we have eaten in South India. Very highly recommended.

No kingfisher or Tiger beer when ordering.Had the fish curry,asked for it to be Madras strength but ended up slightly mild.Nice texture and flavour and the staff very pleasant

Food was average. I was hoping with puri they provide sabzi. Which is what common in south Indian foods. But they only gave puri. How a person eat puri without sabzi ? Dosa is ok not crunchy

Never had to wait so long for even a starter to come out! Cold plates. No real explanation that we could understand. Won’t be in a hurry to go back. So disappointed as we usually have good service. We were in at 6pm and didn’t get food till gone 7pm!

The food was delivered quite late and the food was quite cold as well. The delivery person seemed lost with the address though it is to locate. This is second time, there has been problem with delivered. I would urge you'll to improve your delivery service please.

The chicken and lamb dosa was ok, but the chicken biryani quality and taste was bad, precooked, reheated, not fresh, oily overpriced at £10.50 and a tiny portion size.

One of the best South Indian restaurants in Bedford. It serves a variety of options including vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. The theme is Kerela based and the ambience is really good with pictures and paintings depicting Bharat🇮🇳. Must try the fish recipes and the variety of dosas as well.

I ordered a plain Dosa, there wasn't any potato masala, so I called the restaurant, they said they don't serve potatoe with the plain Dosa anymore, so they really need to change it on the menu! But otherwise everything else was lovely

Well where do I start with my review of The Cochin Restaurant? Firstly having never dined there before we were not sure what to expect. We had only read reviews on TripAdvisor and Google which had been very complemently about the food and service so we wanted to give it a try. We had a table booked for 2 at 8.30, and we were met at the door and shown to our table by the window by a very pleasant waiter. He prompty brought over our menus, and we began to peruse through. The menu had a extensive selection of fish dishes which pleased me as I love fish, so I felt spoilt for choice as my expectations grew. The waiter was very attentive and informal and very knowledgeable about the dishes on their menu, and was happy to answer any questions we had. I finally settled on the fishermans soup for starter. Sadly this was a big let down! Very watery, no depth of flavour and next to no fish in an actual fish soup!!! My friend ordered the minty chilli prawns, the sauce which coated the prawns was tasty and zingy and the prawns cooked nicely however sadly the portion size and presentation was disappointing. Both starters seemed to arrive very quickly after ordering, which was a surprise. It seemed to me they had just been warmed through and thrown onto a plate. For my main course I ordered the mixed seafood curry which consisted of King fish,squid,prawns and mussels cooked in authentic Kerala special spice mixed sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the earthy Kerala special spice mixed sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the fish. Sadly the squid was over cooked and rubbery which was the only negative aspect to the dish. My friend odered the kuttanadan duck roast which consisted of slices of duck cooked in thick roast gravy sauce. The sauce had a lovely velvety rich flavour to it however the duck itself was a big let down as sadly it was tough and chewy. All in all some postives but also some negatives. If this was a school report it would probably read, 'tries hard but can do better'!!!

I love the food here, unfortunately they forgot to send the potato that goes with the Dosa tonight. I didn't call them though because I didn't want to wait for it to arrive, cos the rest of the food would have ruined.

Absolutely stunning authentic food and exceptionally good value for money and the staff are pleasant courteous and provide excellent service. It’s nice to visit an Indian restaurant that doesn’t have the same old same old on the menu, the dishes you find in every other Indian restaurant, makes a great change and everything comes out fresh! A menu that is a pleasure to peruse!! The best bit about this place is if you are Vegan they openly advertise vegan options, so if you choose a vegetarian option and ask they will be happy to make it vegan. Easily 5 stars all day long!

Loved the fish curry, salad and the coconut rice, we always enjoy the food here, I don't think we've ever had a bad meal. We keep saying, we must eat in some time to enjoy their Dosa at their best!

An absolutely wonderful restaurant. My family loved it here, the good was truly authentic and perfectly cooked... Chefs and waiters were really helpful and made the spice of each dish bespoke to our requests. Rahika (sorry if spelled incorrectly) was lovely, as we the two waiters. My grandparents really loved the food, despite his original orders were unavailable on the menu that night! My mum loved the fish curry, served on banana leaves.. very well explained in how to eat this, and she even felt comfortable to eat with hands as by tradition! What a lovely place, I will recommend to friends and family. Many thanks for having us Sasha and family.

In a district of restaurants. Food is South Indis, which seems to include a lot of seafood. A very extensive menu, much better than most indian restaurants. We all felt the food was presented well and was really enjoyable. We were able to decide how hot it was to be - important for some of us. Service was good but not fast.

A firm favourite of mine in Bedford. The Cochin offers something a little different, and it really feels as though you are on holiday as you go into the restaurant. The food is truly delicious with great vegan and veggie options - and the service is always exceptional.

We pre-ordered and picked up (don't understand why there was a service charge for this),our selections from this South Indian style restaurant. Only had to wait a few minutes after the quoted collection time. Maybe we should have checked further as our neither of our mains contained vegetables. We had the Cochin Fish curry - kingfish steaks in a medium curry sauce - with appam a fluffy rice flour pancake - was quite tangy and enjoyable. The Kuttanadam Duck Roast - duck chunks in thick gravy - was fine for a poultry fan like myself, but filling rather than exceptional, especially with the recommended kallapam - cumin flavoured rice flour pancakes. Overall, a more than OK meal that we would supplement with a vegetable side and plain rice if we a similar selection in the future.

Hey Google, show me the best Indian (Kerala) Restaurant in the United Kingdom! What not to say in their review.... such a wonderful experience that we had yesterday. Great food, fantastic service and very reasonable prices. This Indian/ Kerala restaurant is a hidden gem in Bedford and Milton Keynes. Take my word ( being a Keralite and Pan Indian)..... you will not be disappointed if this restaurant continues to maintain it's consistency of service, quality and costs. Parking can be found in the nearby streets. A hidden gem....in my humble opinion, this is the best Kerala (Indian) Restaurant in the whole of the UK that I have dined in so far. If you want to ask me suggestions, Go for it!!!

Firstly don’t be put off by the simple decor, the food and service is what this restaurant is all about. Without a doubt, this is amongst our favourite restaurants…..not just our favourite Indian restaurant. The food is stunning; bursting with flavour and mouth-wateringly delicious. The Nadan Chicken Curry was out of this world, as were the dosa’s, biryani and the savoury doughnuts. So refreshing to find an authentic Indian restaurant, rather than one just offering ‘anglicised’ dishes…..(which, ok, are nice, but in a different way). I haven’t yet mentioned the staff - they were lovely too; super friendly and perfectly attentive. Simply put (if you haven’t picked up on this already), we love this restaurant and can’t recommend it highly enough!!

We've enjoyed takeaways from this restaurant many times: this was the first time sitting in. The service was friendly and the meal delicious: it tasted better straight from the kitchen, rather than after the delay inherent in takeaways. This would have been a 5-star review: the only blemish was the almost one hour delay between ordering and being served.

My family recommended the food and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was quite reasonable cost. The restaurant is quite basic but clean and tidy. I recommend you try this food - I’m sure you won’t be disappointed
