The Clubhouse in Fife

We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel for the weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday, and we had made reservations at Clubhouse for the birthday dinner. Despite the restaurant's fantastic location and breathtaking views, we found our experience to be quite average. When we arrived at our table, we were disappointed to see that it was dirty, and my wife had to request that the staff clean it before we could start our meal. Although the menu had a good variety of food, the quality was only okay. The staff were friendly, but we felt that they could benefit from more experience and training. For instance, when the waiter brought the birthday treat, they tried to leave it in front of me, and I had to remind them that it was my wife's birthday. I don't blame the staff; they need more guidance and training.

Beautiful view of the sea, food and staff first class had the lobster which was delicious, lift to and from the hotel was required at no extra charge, certainly a must if your staying at the hotel

We enjoyed a lovely lunch, great service in a nice location. Food choice was good, we had the burger and fish and chips. One thing I would say is, the chef shouldn’t salt the chips. I personally prefer them unsalted. Will remember to tell the waiting staff on next visit. They are very thorough, asking about allergies. Even made sure the ice cream was vegan in one of the desserts

Loved this place! Great views, food and staff were really helpful. We had 2 young kids and they loved it. Fire pit was a great touch. Little pricey but we will be back.

This restaurant could be incredible, it has spectacular views and the setting is bliss but firstly the young serving team need a bit of guidance , they try hard but are lacking someone experienced to take charge and lead . It shouldn’t be about what they don’t have and allergy advice must be clearer. More attention was given to the fire pit than any of the tables ! The food was so disappointing, overcooked, dripping with grease , unseasoned. We do not grudge paying for a good meal but we grudged paying the pricey check on this occasion as it simply wasn’t worth it. As a Scot , I am embarrassed when I see tourists to our country having to endure inexperienced service and poor food …… This restaurant should be magnificent…… but isn’t !!

We went for dinner and were asked immediately for our drink order the second we sat down. After ordering we waited for around 10 minutes (in a near empty restaurant) to find out that our order hadn’t been passed on and asked to reorder. Understandable though as the first waiter was young and everyone has to learn. We then have our food order taken, a chicken salad and a steak with 2 separate sides, to which the chicken salad came out without any chicken, and the sides did not come at all. After sending back the salad just for chicken to be put on top, I was told the salad was being remade unnecessarily as that meant my partner had to eat his steak while it was hot with no sides and me sat with nothing in front of me for a good 15-20 minutes. After I got my salad back (still no sides) I had finished it and were going to ask to forget about the side orders as there was no point, however couldn’t catch the eye of anyone as they appeared to be too busy trying to please the older guests at the other side of the room. After we were both finished our food the sides appeared (another 15 minutes later), with no apology from the waiter. We finished our food and tried to ask for the bill after trying to catch the eye of anyone working (which again proved very difficult). For so many things to go wrong with our food you would think the manageress that was going about would approach the table at least once, however she avoided our table like the plague, which very much made it seem like because we were younger we were put to the sidelines. Our full bill came -including a £10 service charge - with no offer of any sort of discount or even apology from any member of staff, just a snide attitude from the waiter when he saw that no tip was coming his way. After we had paid, there was not even a quick thank you from the waiter who had taken the payment, in the full knowledge of how our experience had gone. For the price we paid for the meal, what we received did not nearly match up. We did not complain at the time as had another booking we had to get to however would like to make it known how unhappy we were at the experience and the way we were treated by the restaurant.

My friend and I came for brunch and we weren't disappointed. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was amazing and we are already planning a return visit. To top it all off those amazing sea views!

Waited 40 minutes for first course with three waitresses asking us if everything was OK and no communication about any delay

The Bar and Grill is in a tremendous location with superb views of the golf course, the Bay and St Andrews. It has a new pristine air and lovely managers and staff. However, I was disappointed in the food. The oysters were fresh and well presented but the shallot vinegar (I think it was this) was pretty low on flavour. The oysters were rather small too and not that tasty. The fish and chips was disappointing with poorly done chips (and a small portion too) , a moist batter to the fish and an excuse of a portion of mushy peas. They can and should do much better than this. One day, I hope, the food will match the views. I hope so. They are truly stunning.

Hard to know where to start. I think the only good thing is the view and to be honest you can go for a walk and see a nice view. We were 6 people including kids , 2 diners were coeliac (one of which has a nut allergy) and 2 elderly. Before booking the hotel and restaurants i talked through coeliac and strict gluten free diet requirements. Upon arriving at restaurant i made sure they were aware and asked for the meals for myself and my daughter to be check by chef to be coeliac safe. After one hour we have no food and can see parties who have arrived after us were eating their main courses. Our children were getting over hungry as it was getting closer to 9pm (and hour and a half after beating seated) After chasing several times and really getting no real answer we are served food nearly 2 hours after our arrival. The first round of starters arrived, but was served with nuts, which we had told the staff we could not have. When the second round of starters arrive, everyone is hungry and tucks in. Our 9 year old coeliac daughter had food in her mouth (which had been served as gluten free) when the staff came running over and asked to remove the plates, as they were not actually sure that they were coeliac safe. She was spitting the food back onto the plate, and wiping her tongue with a napkin. This led to my daughter become extremely distressed as she could end up extremely sick and ofc led us to complain. the whole meal was an absolute shambles - took so long to serve the incorrect food, we lost all trust in the staff and everyone barely ate, never mind we had crying children from the stress of it all. This has ruined the start to what was supposed to be a lovely holiday to Fairmont. You book at 5star hotel and expect the price you pay to be matched by impeccable service, this is not the case, quite the opposite. I urge you to take you money elsewhere, there are far better places to go in Scotland. in my opinion this is style over content. May I add my husbands main course when it did arrived after 2 hours which was the crab - was smaller than the starter !! And lets just say this price of it was shocking. The fish was salted to oblivion, and the medium steak was closer to rare. This sort of thing is easier to swallow when you’re not paying £30+ per main. At that price it should be flawless. As we were so unhappy and it had ruined the start to our holiday never mind nearly poisoned our daughter we were rightly so not charged, BUT this should never have happened in the first place. I am now holding my breath and hoping the rest of our break is ok and that I haven’t wasted all of our money and time on what was supposed to be a lovely family trip with the grandparents.

We went for a family celebration dinner with high expectations for a fantastic meal. It did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. A special thank you to Veronica who ensured everything ran smoothly and efficiently and also to our wine specialist, Frances,who gave excellent and knowledgeable advice. Great views and atmosphere also made the evening even more special. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

Blown away. Having been there before I knew the food was going to be good but it was even better than I remember. And as for the service what can I say 10/10 Tom and Louis deserve a special mention so helpful and attentive.

If you are looking for something special this is the place. The view is AMAZING and the staff is wonderful. Frances went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. Truly memorable dinner.

Had the worst gnocchi i've ever eaten. It was chewy, cold and tasteless. My wife had mediocre lobster. Luckily, our server was amazing. Tomasz saved our experience.

Lovely food, great views and all the staff were so so nice. Although we couldn't find a drinks menu other than wine so just sort of guessed. But thank you so much to Aheelyn for looking after us and good luck with your studies! I'll be looking out for your grad announcement in the coming years xx

We ate as a group of 8 across 3 generations from 7-70 plus. Food was excellent even on a foggy night when view not as spectacular as normal. Alexandra was a wonderful server; knowledgeable without being intrusive. Highly recommended for a special occasion.

This is a golf clubhouse with only the weakest attempt to dress it up as a supposedly fine dining “restaurant” at night. Service is woeful - and we were there on a quiet night! Main courses (some thereof) started to arrive 2 hours after we did! And some came in part only and others came later still. Plus they screwed up a couple of the steaks. Other diners were clearly equally unhappy with their experience. Seriously, this place is where golfers come for a bacon roll and a coffee or a post game pint. It’s a disgrace that it pretends to be a serious restaurant. It is not. It’s a joke!Avoid at all costs

Go before sunset to watch the sun set over St. Andrews. With windows all around and patio seating, there is not a bad seat! The food is good and staff is friendly. If you are staying at the Fairmont, there is a shuttle that will take you back and forth but it is a nice walk if the weather cooperates.

A group of 8 of us had a delicious dinner here and got to enjoy— even marvel over— the views from this fabulous location! Drinks were reasonably priced as were most of the dinner entrees. ( I have to say the ribeye steak was pretty small for a 37.00 L price tag with all sides extra

I called in for a coffee yesterday pm after exploring the area where I recently moved to, and had a peaceful interlude admiring the view.and enjoying coffee albet overpriced. I called in for another coffee today, Thursday.

Book a table by the window for the best view of the entire coastline - before you go out to play golf - there won`t be any left by the time you get in.

Very beautiful setting overlooking the golf course as well and the city of St Andrews with a lovely sunset. You are located near the 17th tee and the North Sea. The wait staff is very pleasant, Kimberly, our waitress was prompt smiling and provided good recommendations. The food, my wife and I both had filet, was cooked correctly, tender and flavorful. The bone marrow gravy was tasty and the mushroom caps provided the right addition to the meal. Pricing is what you would expect from a Fairmont Resturant. We did skip the lobster due to the 60 pound price-tag.

We booked this restaurant well in advance, as we were 6. The location, on the top ok the cliff, with amazing view of the sunset on the St. Adrews it's worth going there at least for a vine.

This is a beautiful venue with great food, cocktails, and a nice wine selection. We enjoyed a range of appetizers, all of had filets, and we covered the gamut for cocktails and deserts. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Visited this restaurant with colleagues on a beautiful sunny day. Views are fantastic. Many of us opted for the Lobster Roll, which was served on a long Baguette style roll. Very tasty and different. Would have enjoyed my meal more though had the chips that came with it not been re-heated. Staff very friendly and smiling. All in all, enjoyable

Cenamos el domingo antes de un festivo. Sabían que la cocina era de reserva, así que ofrecieron la primera bebida gratis. Lindo gesto. Aunque acabó demorando 2 horas para el servicio y no tuvimos desierto. Mi marido tenía el bacalao que era el excelente. Tuve la chuleta de ternera que se suponía que era 300 gm. Al menos la mitad era gorda. Para 35 esto era inaceptable. Le informé al camarero y me dijo que me dejara ver que podemos hacer. Sin respuesta. Sobre todo muy caro para la calidad y el servicio.

Después de leer algunas de las críticas, estaba un poco preocupado. Sin embargo, esto fue rápidamente puesto en la cama después de ser recibido calurosamente por el personal. Ambos fueron muy buenos. Mi esposa tenía el bacalao, que venía con una sopa, vieiras y mejillones con un poco de linguini. Tuve la chuleta con la salsa de vino tinto. Muy delicioso .

La comida estaba bien en sabor en general, pero me pareció que el menú era demasiado caro. El bistec que tuvimos fue desafortunadamente exagerado. Sin embargo, el postre (camino rocoso en este momento) fue excelente y muy generoso. Los camareros eran muy amables en general, nos sirvió un encantador camarero francés (se disculpa, no recuerdo su nombre). Me imagino que el entorno del restaurante es impresionante durante el día, pero el restaurante estaba muy poco iluminado por la noche cuando visitamos. En general, la experiencia fue promedio, y no habríamos visitado sin la asociación con el Hotel Fairmont.

I recently had dinner at this amazing restaurant that is perched on a cliff overlooking St. Andrews Bay and the city of St. Andrews. My meal was perfect and the wine was great. I would definitely recommend this spot if in the area.

My partner and I ate here on a Saturday night whilst staying at the Fairmont. Our 3 course meal was from excellent start to finish. Our waiter (I forget his name but he was tall and french!) was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered advice as to what to order. While it isn’t cheap, the quality of food and service is definitely worth it!

A lovely restaurant with a spectaular setting. It is quite a distance from the Fairmont Hotel which provides a shuttle service (fortunately as it's very cold to walk in winter). The restaurant is actually part of the golf clubhouse.

A group of 8 of us had the most sumptuous dinner. From the spectacular seafood platter starters(oysters were incredible)to the stunning mains it was simply perfection. The steaks were ‘melt in your mouth’ and Halibut delicious. Max and Laurent were the perfect hosts and really made our evening very special. Thank you!!

Felt the food was overpriced for the quality of the food. Steak was not what i would have expected for the price. Many of the table felt underwhelmed by the food. One person needed to use their phone to read the menu as we were placed at the end of the room where there was no light.

Food was simply delicious and service was great. I had THE BEST time with my fiance! We will definately come back!

We had a wonderful dinner at Fairmoints restaurant St. Andrews Bar & Grill. Very good food, fast service, the staff was nice and helpful. The restaurant has a beautiful setting with panorama view over the water and golf course. A must to if you are visiting St Andrews.

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Fairmont to celebrate a birthday. Service, staff and food were all fantastic. A great menu. Every course beautifully presented. Staff happy to make recommendations and nothing was too much trouble. Return visit visit already planned. Highly recommended.

We viewed the menus for all dining options in the main hotel and booked the steak restaurant as it was a special occasion and was highly recommended by the staff.

The view from this restaurant is awesome: 360 degrees of breathtaking views of the golf course, the bay, and you can even see a bit of the town. However, you need to take a shuttle from the hotel to this restaurant, so that is limiting.

Great place for a treat. Food was excellent. Attentive service. Would recommend this place for a special occasion. You might think it's a bit pricey but for quality of food I thought not.

Quien haya tenido la previsión de poner esta Casa club en esta posición y construirla de esta manera debe ser felicitado. Las vistas son espectaculares incluso cuando el clima no es tan amable. I’ve now been here twice and both times have been a distinct disappointment. This is a restaurant that charges fine dining prices for average (if that) food. I was particularly surprised on my most recent visit to be informed that dessert would be a minimum 30 minute wait, as ‘the big table’ had just placed an order...the ‘big table’ being a table of 9 or 10, in a half-full restaurant. A restaurant that lacks the capacity to prepare more than 9 or 10 desserts in one go, on a not particularly busy evening, should not be putting itself out there as a top notch establishment. My husband and I had 2 courses, I had 2 glasses of wine and he had water. It was almost £120 despite the food being average (plus they brought my husband the wrong starter). Will not be returning, especially as St Andrews has loads of great restaurants, much better than this, but which don’t have illusions of grandeur and are much better value.

I preferred this restaurant at the hotel but the other italian place is very different and more casual without the view of the sea. They have excellent service and i had oysters and plaice which were very good and my husband loved his steak. Nice cocktails and an overall nice experience if you are wanting to eat near the hotel but have a nice meal. It was cold and rainy and they shuttled us from the hotel. I only wish i had eaten lunch here during the day for the view.

A great place to eat freshly caught lobster from your tank. A great variety on the menu both in meat and fish. I recommend it

A fantastic dining experience from start to finish.

We decided to eat here after checking into the Fairmont. We both had the fillet steaks which were just ok, nothing special.....considering the price!! Having to order vegetables as a side dish too is unbelievable when you are paying £36 for a steak. The views from the restaurant are fantastic and the staff are very helpful. We wouldn’t eat here again but it was just convenient at the time

This restaurant supposedly specialises in steak and seafood. After 1 and 1/2 hours and 2 filed attempts to cook a medium rare fillet we left disappointed and hungry.

We didn’t stay for food. The evening menu consisted mainly of fish and didn’t really fancy if. If we’d known that we wouldn’t have bothered. There were a limited few other options like steak and pork belly. At 6pm we were on the evening menu. The clubhouse was empty (with the exception of a few golfers on the 19th hole enjoying the last of the evening sunshine), we hadn’t booked. 2 adults and baby. There seemed to be some confusion as to where would sit in an empty restaurant. After 10 minutes waiting on our drinks order we left. We should have ordered room service - only popped down from Fairmont Hotel out of convenience. I suppose from a clubhouse I expected menu variation and some degree of customer service. The views however are spectacular and worth a trip for that reason alone.

Went for a meal after a round of golf . very good service from the pleasant staff. The menu during the day is reasonably varied and of a reasonable price . the food is good and well presented . Seating is comfortable with great views over the golf courses towards St Andrews . The burger was excellent as was the fish dish .

After checking in to the Fairmont and looking at the menu for the Bar &Grill;, we went ahead and made our reservations for later that night ESPECIALLY because they had lobster as one of their menu selections and I had been dying to try some Scottish Wild Salmon. When we arrived at the restaurant the staff were all very friendly and professional. The hostess (I think) brought us the drink and wine menu but I asked her what she would buy and, after hearing what we planned to order, she recommended a rose which was incredibly delicious. She kept my glass from ever having it's bottom exposed and I greatly appreciated that. I ordered a half lobster and my partner ordered the steak (which was even more costly than my dish). Now, I've had plenty of lobster before but the menu clearly stated it was "fresh" lobster and that just makes me wonder WHEN was it fresh? I had actually battled with myself over whether to order the whole lobster as well but I was really glad I didn't. Not only was the lobster t i n y but it was as tough as they get. My partners steak, priced at £38 or £36, may have been the worst steak I've ever taken a bite of and ESPECIALLY one from a restaurant at a five star hotel. Upon returning home after our holiday, I went to the market, selected a steak for less than £6, and then grilled it and it was delicious. The chef at this restaurant needs to take more pride in what he sends out to the tables because neither my partner or myself had satisfying plates of food. Should we have sent them back? Absolutely! Did we? No! (But we should have)! Our sticky pudding we shared for dessert was incredible though. The sun was setting as we continued with our meal and it WAS a very beautiful site to look out the window and see.

Really didn’t match my expectations after reading the reviews, maybe it’s better on the night. It was freezing in the room also.

Very nice meal in a nice location with great views. A good varied menu but overall a little pricey, probably capitalising on limited choices in the area and only one other choice (the hotel’s other restaurant) without driving a reasonable distance. The “surf and turf” that I had was the 8oz sirloin with half a lobster. This was relatively expensive at £50 for a main course but it was truly excellent. My wife had a cod and clams dish which she said was also really good.

Having had a disappointing experience at La Cucina I was a bit apprehensive about the other restaurant linked to the Fairmont but I needn’t have worried. As with everyone we dealt with at the hotel the staff were great and the food was superb. The smoked salmon starter was huge but delicious. I followed on with steak and my husband had bass. Both dishes were excellent. The beautiful setting looking over the bay added to the evening and the wine selection helped too. If you want to treat yourself give it a go.

A good lounge to unwind in after your round. Burgers are tasty, fries are crisp. Great views of the coast, and golf course too. You’ll be able to see St Andrews in the distance.

We ate here to celebrate a special occasion while staying at the Fairmont. The hotel provides a courtesy bus to and from this restaurant, which is a very short drive ( about two minutes) from the main hotel. The surroundings are beautiful, with stunning views toward the sea and the rolling waves crashing onto the beaches of St. Andrews in the distance. The food was excellent if you like steak or seafood. The staff made every effort to ensure our celebration was special.

We decided to visit St Andrews for lunch.

Setting is lovely, welcome is friendly, starters were good, wine was good.

Considering that it's part of the Fairmont St Andrews my expectations were high. Unfortunately we left waited till it was too late to get some of our other choices for dinner on Saturday so took the recommendation given to us by the hotel.

Fairly typical grill food. Tasty, but not outstanding. However, I challenge you to find a more gorgeous location! Worth the price of the food to enjoy the stunning view.

ゴルフ目的でFairmont St Andrewsに夫婦で宿泊した際のディナーで利用した。ホテルの格からそれなりのドレスコードを意識した服装に着替え、フロントでレストランの場所を尋ねると、エントランスに行けと言う。そこにはレストランらしき場所は無かったなと思いながら確認すると、クラブハウスのレストランで、そこまでカートで行くと言われ、初めて場所が分かった次第。

This is the flagship restaurant at the Fairmont. It's a golf hotel so don't expect Michelin 3 stars. What you do get is a view along the coast that on a clear night is to die for and food that is fresh and sensibly prepared. Good service and a thougthful wine list are what you'd expect at this end of the spectrum. Sometimes location, companions, conversation and food come together to make a memorable night. Lobster was fresh and prepared professionally, Sea Bream cooked just right. No chocolate on the desert menu but strawberry cheesecake was light and flavorful. Scottish sun sets late in the summer so to avoid the glare get a table by the window on the right hand side of the restaurant if you're going there between May and October. Reminds me of the Club House at Kiawah.

It didn't start well when a couple walked in, and got a better table than us when we had booked.

Nos alojamos en el Fairmont una semana y comimos el almuerzo y la cena en este restaurante. La comida era normal en el mejor. Los mejillones eran el mejor plato que comimos allí. Vistas desde el restaurante más los campos de golf y el mar son preciosas. En todo caso, hacer una parada para tomar una bebida.

Recientemente cenamos aquí y me sentí bastante decepcionado con la comida que recibimos comparado con el precio que pagamos. Para un hotel de 5 estrellas sin duda este no era 5 estrellas de calidad de comida. Comenzaré con las cosas positivas. Recibimos un servicio excelente desde el momento que entramos en el momento en que nos fuimos. Nos trasladamos a un asiento amablemente ventana que estaba valorado como la vista es impresionante. Mi plato de carne tártara también era delicioso y sin duda lo mejor de la comida. El vino que pedimos, aunque caro, era muy agradable. Desafortunadamente mi marido inicial de cerdo era muy seco. Ambos filetes de tamaño raro con pedir un vino y cebolleta salsa. Los bistecs eran grasienta, más preparado, no muy cálido y la salsa carecía de sabor. Por 36 libras un filete de carne que habría esperado de una mayor calidad y cocinada a un mejor nivel. Mi marido y yo opté por pudin de postre, que de nuevo estaba bien, pero el medio de mi budín estaba fría! En £174 nos sentimos el precio en general para una comida muy normal simplemente no vale la pena!

Puedes esperar mejor que este en un hotel de 5 estrellas. La comida era realmente bastante lamentable y a 2.56 sal en la herida, los precios eran desorbitados. Un amigo y yo estuvimos en el Fairmont, para ver un torneo de golf juvenil en el campo de golf adyacente Kittocks. Mientras espera para jugar, y los premios se entregaron, decidimos tomar un bocado para comer en la calle. Andrews Bar y Grill. Elegimos el enrollado de pollo y patatas fritas. Lo que obtuvimos fue un raro y pequeño, grueso, seco harina tortilla envuelto alrededor de un poco de pollo y lechuga, junto con una pequeña poción de patatas fritas.
