The Cinnamon Tree in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Slow service, poor quality, bland and tasteless, worst Indian food I have ever had. Dry meat and two totally different curries has zero flavour to them. I think from the way they reacted to us wanted to order off the menu this is really just a buffet restaurant. We waited over an hour for 2 curries and 2 rice. The restaurant was about 50% full with most of those have a self service buffet We won’t be returning. Expensive for such a poor meal.

Absolutely amazing food. We had the buffet earlier in the month and later in the month had off the main menu. Both were incredible. Highly recommended

New buffet £19.95 head. Despite some negative reviews it was packed ! Nice buffet that covered all the basics- korma/bhuna/ masala/jalfriez.. no beef. Rice/ poppadoms/ naan/ salad/ samosa/ bajhees/ lentil Dahl/ amazing garlic mushrooms. Plenty to eat . People were back and fore all night but the ladies worked very hard ensuring all dishes were replenished straight away and keeping a constant eye . Friendly staff. Defo recommend .

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday evening took near on an hour and a half to arrive - had to call twice to follow this up , if I hadn’t of called not sure when it would have arrived . When it arrived the food was lukewarm , no were near the standard of food / service we are used to from cinnamon tree. We have ordered form there for many years and now likely we’ll never return . The food not only was it like warm but also the layer of grease on top of the dishes was awful . The quality of Ingredients seemed poor in comparison to usual , it didn’t appear cooked with any care . The paneer had a very odd texture and had not been cooked with the dish and added as what seemed as an afterthought , not been cooked as usual !! The other food we ordered didn’t taste as used to , if anything. Much more bland !! Again quality seeming poorer !! Sad to say after many many years I doubt we will return , if you can’t provide the quality you used to then don’t offer take away as well as your restaurant service as it’s awful . When speaking with staff to check on order and discuss its temperature when it did arrive staff were disinterested !! I was promised a call back but this hasn’t happened!!

We have loved visiting since 2015 when moved here - but Saturday 11 nov 23 received food that was not what we know as Cinnamon tree - we ordered our usual (lamb balti, pakora, bhaji, pesh naan) and it was absolutely dreadful - bland, tough meat- nothing like the usual good flavours and quality we love - what has happened /changed????? We questioned the Facebook page and received a message from the staff offering a voucher of £20 but no explanation. I won't be cashing in the voucher. I don't need the money i was just looking for answers. we are just trying to understand how the recipes can be so different after so many years of consistency, for example the onion bhaji shape and filling was different (i don't recall it ever containing carrot lumps) the lamb balti was a different colour (like a yellow not a deeper brown as we know the dish to be at Cinnamon Tree) and the lamb was not tender as it always has been, it was dry and tough. the peshwari naan had very little flavour. We have come to love the dishes at Cinnamon tree as they have always stood out from the average town indian cuisine, and it just baffles me as to how one night and a very early order (i ordered 2 hours before opening so would have thought it be first out the door) could just be so entirely different. I won't be returning until there are answers! But eager to hear if others feel the same

Appalling take away meal that was inedible. We have visited this restaurant on many occasions but something has changed and will definitely not be going back.

This was our first visit to this Cinammon Tree Restaurant. We've been to the excellent one in Canton a number of times. What attracted us today was the Sunday Buffet which started at 2.30pm. We arrived a little early but the staff were very welcoming. The Buffet is well set up. You can help yourself to Popodums and dips. Next you can take your pick from the starters. I counted 5 or 6 starters which included onion bhajis, vegetable samosa, tarka dhal, garlic mushrooms and 2 chicken dishes. For mains there were 5 choices including chicken and lamb dishes and there was also a vegetarian dish. To go with the mains there was pilau rice, boiled rice and 2 different naans. The Buffet seemed quite popular when we were there. At £19.95 it's not cheap but it is good value as you can help yourself.

The food was nice, but the service was a bit slow and not very friendly unfortunately! We arrived without a booking but it was very quiet so there was no problem about a table. It took longer than hoped to get menus and take the order and there was a little bit of a feeling that we were a bit of an inconvenience just by being there

Had a delivery, pre ordered for 6.30 and it was bang on time. Haven't visited for years and first time having their delivery. Always trying different local indians as there always seems to be something which falls a little short, however this was lovely. Had a lamb biryani, a chicken tikka biryani, chips, naans, mixed tandoori starter and poppadoms. Lovely chunks of chicken in the biryani, great naan, well flavoured curry but not too spicy. Very enjoyable and will order again.

The Goan veg curry with fresh veg I was promised had pre-frozen, re- cooked veg and chickpeas I don't like. It wasn't described in the menu as a chickpea curry, which I wouldn't have ordered. The cauliflower was going brown. The sauce was congealed. My chapati was hard. I'm grateful that restaurant staff agreed not to charge us for these. The rest of the meal was OK. My husband said the lamb in his biryani was good. Our greeter/waiter was helpful and responsive, and seemed sincerely apologetic. Disappointing otherwise.

Waited nearly 2 hours for food. No menus no drinks until we asked for them. Older lady who eventually took order was rude. 4 tables up and left. Ended up taking food home but found the chicken chewy and the sauce tasteless. Will never use again and would not recommend. Unfortunately I think the problem is they are more interested in the Just eat orders going out than serving sit down customers. Shame as always had a good reputation.

Was better than I expected . Been to several other local curry houses which were good but the cinnamon tree was was exceptional. A little bit more expensive but well worth spending the extra few pounds . Will be returning in the next few weeks and recommending to my friends and work colleagues .

What a lovely night we had. Right if us all together. Food was amazing, staff were friendly and efficient. Allowed banners n balloons, then brought a candle lit cake out singing happy birthday. Recommended .

We pass this restaurant every week and had some time to burn so in we went. Sat in the waiting area for 15 mins then taken to our table. The service was great and given by a happy friendly young lady. We had starters and a main and the food was fantastic. The beer was also very good, could do with the kingfisher back on tap, that would have been the cherry on the cake. Thanks, we will be back.

Food was good. The issue was the length of time it took to get to us. It was clearly a very busy night, but it took an age for our drinks orders to be taken and made (20 plus minutes), we had to ask to order food as staff were then waiting on other tables and I think had assumed someone else had taken our order. After our starters arrived it took another hour and half for our mains. This did take a shine from our visit unfortunately. You can't take away from the quality of the food and it was really tasty but it took 2 hours and 20 minutes to have a starter, main and two drinks.

We went to the restaurant to celebrate fathers day including grandparents.We we received the starters we called over one of the guys in the restaurant as one of the starters was different to what we expected. He effectively started arguing with us then he insulted us. Once he left we called the manager over and explained what happened, she was very apologetic and said he, the owner (OMG), was stressed as they had been busy all day.
