We made a special stop here to buy some locally-made chocolates, as per the description on Tripadvisor, only to find out that all the chocolates they sell are now imported from Belgium. Disappointed the business owners can't be bothered to keep their listing up-to-date.

I purchased a few pieces of chocolate for the road here after visiting the castle. They had ice cream too. I was in a hurry (since you have to plan and book everything well in advance) otherwise I would have also gotten some ice cream. Some chocolates were not labeled, but the lady found the details. Nice little shop with sweets and souvenirs.

The first things you notice when you step inside the building are the lovely array of chocolates. However this is only half the story as the remainder of it is a real tea shop. The luscious homemade cakes (I indulged in a chocolate and cream one) are too tempting to resist and the tea is served in a proper tea pot on a tray, complete with milk and sugar. It's all reasonably priced too as we paid £10 for a pot of tea for two along with slices of cake. We were tempted to buy some of the chocolates and my sister did purchase a home made cushion. While there we struck up an interesting conversation with the friendly Canadian owner, also called Wendy, who has travelled extensively in Europe. We totally enjoyed our visit and hope to be back when we're next passing through the beautiful village of Dunster. Had some of the other cafes been open for business we would have missed out on this delightful one. Ensure you don't.

Ran into this little spot after a hot day walking around the castle. Once we saw the big ice cream selection of I believe Myrtle's Ice Cream Parlour? through the window, we were sucked right in (2 minutes before closing, sorry). Anyhow, the lady who served was the sweetest and the ice cream was amazing! I'm sure my baby boy was happy that it was his first ice cream ever:)

Cream teas were nice. However the tea room is freezing cold ~ front door wide open!. A mish mash of styles and products on sale ~ means its neither one thing or the other. Strip lighting on the ceilings makes for a very harsh and cold environment.I was overcharged for the tea ~ apparently a mistake with the menu prices?!This could be a lovely venue in Dunster ~ needs to be made more cosy ~ and less cluttered with items for sale that really don't fit in a chocolate shop ~~hammocks!!?Seating is uncomfortable and pretty much garden furniture.Service was SO slow ~ granted a large party had just come in ~ but how about letting one of the staff deal with one group while the other member deals with the next.Nothing wrong with the food ~ but environment leaves a lot to be desired.

After visiting the Chocolate House on the way back from Butlins last Christmas we had to go again this year. The hot chocolate is to die for, I've never tasted anything so delicious in my life. The service is friendly and the homemade cakes delicious, make a detour from the main road to get your chocolate fix.

Visited here on a day trip to Dunster, and ended up buying biscuits, chilli chocolate and ginger chocolate. They also have a chocolate fountain where you can choose either strawberries or marshmallows. I knew I was onto a good thing when the lady behind the counter said "I'll pick out the biggest strawberries for you". Friendly staff, top quality chocolate and biscuits. Will definitely be returning! Next time we'll sit in the cafe and sample the hot chocolate!

Gorgeous venue but such incredibly slow service. I mean, really slow. There were only two other tables but we still waited half an hour for our order to be taken. Delicious scones and lovely staff though. As others have noted, but frustrating there was no menu to look at on the tables and we were told that the big menu right at the back was out of date.

As there was only one person on duty at 2.30pm or thereabouts, on 20 June, and they were busy selling ice cream we joined the short ice cream queue and ordered a pot of tea for two. The tea was perfectly acceptable, though would have preferred cups and saucers to mugs, and the service was friendly and efficient. Oddly, there were no menus on display and none was offered. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our cup of tea.

The Chocolate House is an informal and reasonable tea shop / café serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cream teas, sandwiches, cakes, waffles, ice cream etc as well as their own brand chocolate. We were welcomed by the owners / chocolatiers and found a table easily. Whilst we looked at the menu we were given free samples of their chocolate (a welcome treat and great PR - how can you leave without buying more!?)The service is friendly and quick, the sandwiches and hot chocolate we had was delicious and reasonably priced. We weren't rushed out and the owners welcomed questions about the chocolate on display in the shop. The shop sells their own brand chocolate made locally, there are many shapes, sizes and tastes and is intermixes with local Somerset ginger ale, apple juice etc. This is a must see for all visitors to Dunster and don't forget to pop next door to the fudge shop if you want to top up on the sugar!

After a long and excellent visit to Dunster castle we found ourselves wandering through the village and came upon the Chocolate house, what a treat. The hot chocolate here is amazing and well worth travelling for. We really appreciated the chocolate samples that came out whilst we were deciding what to have and the teacakes were very good too. The young girl who served us was lovely and when a large party came in and rearranged the furniture whilst being very rude I thought that they coped really well. Especially as the large rude group then walked out without apologising as they had changed their minds!! The shop here is a good place to pick up some yummy treats and I thought that everything was fairly priced. A great little find.

The Chocolate House Cafe, choccy shop and cafe, in Dunster, Exmoor, has lovely owners who are passionate about what they do. They serve the most divine whortleberry and coconut cake, in big slices for a very reasonable price. Brilliant! They also have creative, lovely hand made chocolates that make good gifts. Dunster is a fantastic place to visit, with a castle and a superb little high street, where you will find the Chocolate House Cafe.

Visited Dunster on a coach tour. Due to the time of our visit we did not require a meal but needed a cuppa. What a treasure this place was. Though not large it was very clean abd the service was excellent We ordered two cream teas and at £3.50 a head they were excellent value. The staff were friendly and our order arrived quickly with a small dish of mini chocolate bites to try. Will certainly visit again if ever in the area.

We have been regular customers at the chocolate house for over six months. You can always be assured of a warm welcome from owners Richard and Lorna. Their young helpers too are extremely pleasant and helpful. The selection of drinks, cakes and other treats for sale are all delicious (well, we haven't managed to try everything in the shop so far, but we're working on it [and new items always arriving so we probably never will]!!!!!). We are always made to feel special by the team whether we call at a quiet or a busy time. My tip... Go for the Whortleberry cake with a nice hot choc!!!

What a fabulous lunch. There were eight of us who ordered a variety of sandwiches, toasties and cream teas. Food was excellent and great value for money. Service was quick and friendly. People have written reviews complaining about the decor which is actually very tastefully done. Besides, with such great food in a beautiful setting why worry about the decor!
