The Chippy of Chinley in High Peak

As I have said before we are so lucky to have this in our Village. Now under new owners We think it is even better!Nice batter on Fish really crispy. Good portion sizes too. Service still as it was all good.I can see this Chippy going from strength too strength. I have noticed a few comments saying not as good? I would say give them a chance to get to know what we all Love! Great British Fish and Chips .

Our favourite local fish & chip shop for many years is now under new management. We ordered meals for six & whilst the service was fine and the quality of the fish was as ever really good quality sadly thats as far as the possitives work. I hate having to criticise restaurant who all work really hard to make a living but yesterdays offering was horrible.the chips were greasy and falling apart. the fish had very very thin batter which was the softest I've ever seen & just fell off....not one of us could eat the meals which sadly I have to say is the worst I have ever had. It ended up in the bin & we had to make another meal. I'm so sorry its as though something just went wrong..the worst cooked fish and chips and even the mushy peas were not good.I hope the new owners can look to provide the excellent quality food we have enjoyed for many years.

The chippy of chinley is recently under new management and is awesome! Fresh first to order, crispy chips succulent sausages and everything in between! Staff are great, the fryer is very handsome and great conversationalist. Absolutely nothing to fault, tasty and traditional fish and chips! Pop in if you’re local, or drive up it’s worth it!!

Freshly cooked fish, great service. Lots of chips!! Fab!! You can also phone your order in and pick up!

First and last visit. Heard good things about this place and was really looking forward to some quality fish and chips. Sadly, we got overcooked, greasy chips and cod coated in thick, stodgy flour. About the worst fish n chips we've ever had. Really disappointed.

This establishment is an excellent example of a traditional Chip Shop, serving excellent, chips, peas etc.. It is scrupulously clean!

Ordered chips and curry I literally could not find the curry . Friendly staff but honestly am still hungry. Food is ok for a chippy but not worth the extortionate price for so little food !

Just about the best chippy in the area, fish always fresh and cooked to perfection ,lovely chips and great service including the owner who likes to sing chippy related songs like " relight my frier " etc lol. Always busy which says a lot and your able to eat in as well . The plaice to go

Called in on Friday night for another chippy meal. This time we sat in to eat, the fish is outstanding. We were so welcomed by the lovely new owners, who I know have only just taken over. In facts it’s better than before. Best chippy in the area. Keep up the good work ladies.

Called in tonight and thought what a lovely clean chippy. Got the wrapped up chips back to the car and was very disappointed to find the size of the portion.

Fantastic little chippy you can eat in or takeaway. Portion size really good and the quality of food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Only down side is it’s limited days of opening which is a shame.

Good fish and chips, fairly cheap and fresh cooked. Pity only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but would visit again no problem

Went to get fish and chips with friends and unfortunately found I couldn't have anything, as they only fry everything in beef fat..

I've eaten here many times. It is always delicious. They have been in the Industry for 40 years and really know their stuff. Delicious

We visited Chinley for four days and went here twice! The place was crowded the first time we went there. The staff were so friendly and so were the customers in there (they could tell we were visitors as our accents were different) we asked what a chip barm was and everyone just went “ahh not from round here”! The chef was singing little versions of songs and made them about fish ! Really nice people.

You almost don’t mind queuing when the Chief Frier serenades you with familiar old hit songs but with the words changed to be fish-related! (I wish I could remember one now, but they’re eluding me...)

Still really good, probably the best around and there are a couple of other good ones, think this one just beats them.Everything is so clean here and the oil is obviously very fresh too. Still wish it opened more often and still wish he wouldn't sing but its a small price to pay for such fab fish and chips.

I have a little soft spot for a proper chippy and this is a PROPER CHIPPY. Nothing complicated like trying to be something else, just the best tasting fish and chips around, by far.

An excellent traditional chippy with friendly staff and always a warm welcome. It can be quite busy and there is nearly always a queue. However you are usually entertained by the owners singing. You can eat in if you like too.

One of the funniest experiences being served by a singing server. Every possible fish and chip inspired song possible. Eg I just fried in your arms tonight. Fish and chips good. Sadly the pie was courtesy of Chef Mike so a bit soggy. Got to go there for a laugh.

Super friendly staff, fresh food in good portions, and it always looks and tastes great. A regular treat, especially in cold weather.

Always great. Excellent fish. They try to keep the prices down too. There is nowhere in the area as good as this.

After recently moved to Chinley we are now regular customers of the chippy of chinley.

My wife and I popped in for haddock and chips (which were excellent) and sausage and chips (sausage not great - no texture and little taste). The chips were lovely, well cooked and had some colour! Really friendly owner who knows how to engage you in a conversation!

He visitado dos veces, propietario muy entretenido, rápido y eficiente servicio, buen pescado de calidad con pasta ligera y crocante. Yo tenía una pequeña porción de patatas fritas y regular de pescado con guisantes y un montón de sal y vinagre 5 libras. . Relación calidad-precio bastante buena!.

Mejor pescado y patatas fritas nunca. Sentarse en el chat con el propietario cantando. Siempre me da una salchicha para mi doggies encanta. Quieres venir aquí auténtica

This place used to be a dire Chinese takeaway and thank the lord it is now a cheery, friendly and good quality chippy. The owner needs little encouragement to sing as he dishes out the chips, and if my dog Frank is lucky he might get a free sausage from time to time. Very good, and long may it continue.

Excellent service and lovely tasting fish and chips reasonable priced. Limited open hours which is cater3d for the family. Nit to be missed thank you

Really nice food and Keith keeps everybody entertained whilst waiting.You can eat in or take away. Would highly recommend.

Its all spot on and very clean, only complaint is I wish it opened more days and later at night as I would be there more often!

Love this village chippy, food is outstanding, best fish & chips around, hard to find a decent English chippy but this place beats any other in the Peak District hands down,the singing frying man is good entertainment whilst you wait n keeps the kids happy with his tricks and banter

After hearing many good things about the place I decided to try it out and I was definitely impressed, I had fish and chips with curry sauce. Probably the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend to anyone and will be going back..

Run by a really lovely semi retired couple always greeted with a smile and a song. The food is always fresh and the fish is the best in derbyshire

Staying nearby we were recommended to try this local restaurant. We only had a take away but there are a few tables available. Coming from Cornwall we were surprised to find there are decent fish and chip shops , some near us do leave a lot to be desired. Fresh fish, crispy chips all served up to order with a song from the owner. Perhaps the owner uses his time from Sunday to Wednesday when he is closed to travel the country and show others how fish and chips should be done?? Not a bad idea as many places could learn a lot.

Excellent fish and chips rivalling those closer to the sea like where we’re from on the east coast. Fish was perfectly fried and the chips were nice and golden. Has a few small tables so you could sit down to eat and enjoy a nice mug of tea with your meal. Perfectly situated in the village if walking back to the station from one of the pubs. The fryer is a character keeping us entertained with fish and chip related lyrics from various songs….still got them in my head a couple of months later!

First time for us in this chippie,like others have stated,you are warmly welcomed by the fella behind the counter, he's happy and jolly and does sing to his fish,the place is clean and the food is lovely and fresh, was also served by a very polite young lady.All in all would and have recommended this chippie,well done folks.

Moved to Chinley 6 months ago, the fish and chips here are excellent, we go every few weeks. The staff are very jolly and the food is consistently good. Recommended #oosh

So pleased that THE CHIPPY OF CHINLEY has opened. Such a friendly place and spotlessly clean but, best of all, it's the only FISH AND CHIPS I'll ever eat......and I've tried loads of other places so I know what I'm talking about. Well worth a visit. Check times as it's only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at certain times. Good job in my case. I'd be there every day otherwise. A wonderful addition to our lovely village.

Chinley Chippy is the best chippy for miles around. The fish is always as fresh as possible, and has been filleted from the whole fish by the owner himself. The premises are always spotlessly clean, and Keith and Mal behind the counter are always friendly and welcoming. I definitely look forward to my weekly "chippy dinner" - £6 for Fish, Chips, Peas and a mug of Tea is great value for money, too.

Visited during the Easter half term while staying across the road at a self catering apartment. The fish and chips were excellent quality and not greasy in the slightest. The fish wax fresh and the chips crispy, if only all fish and chip shops were as good as this, shame I live 120 miles away!

Newly opened , chips and fish were perfectly cooked , The building itself has been refurbished to a high standard and is spotlessly clean , service is good and the food was delicious , beef dripping chips .. yum
