Wonderful afternoon celebrating the wife's birthday, food and service excellent asual.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely pub, I would say quite traditional or even old fashioned, but only in all the good ways! The food was delicious, excellent ingredients and well cooked and prepared. Sunday lunch was exceptional. An excellent choice for a special occasion with family.

I almost never take the time to leave a review but after many years visiting this restaurant it's about time. I have never had a bad meal here. It's a family owned and run business and it has a superb atmosphere to add to the delicious food. Andrew the chef/owner and his son Jordan, who takes care of front of house are a great team and their staff are always polite and helpful. It's an all round package and very good value for money. It’s our 2nd time here and this time, we brought our parents with us. We really love how cosy it is and the set meal is very filling and gastronomic! The staffs are all amazing and always approach us with a smile. I am really gratefully for a successful surprise birthday celebration for my husband! Thank you everyone and I would really recommend this place not only for couples but for families too.

Just had a belated Xmas gathering that was postponed due to a party member being ill. It Was worth the wait, the food and service was exceptional. Highly recommended for a top quality dining experience.

A cold Wednesday evening early December but the dining room was full of people having a fantastic evening, fires lit, beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food as always was perfect and the staff friendly and attentive. 10/10 every time for quality and value. It was great to be sitting near a table visiting for the first time seeing it with fresh eyes - they couldn't believe how brilliant it is.

Simply, the best, perhaps only, fine dining restaurant north of the city providing great, good value food appreciated by young and old alike. They know their market and cater for it so well. Good value wine list complements a comprehensive menu. Highly recommend.

This is my favourite eating place. Lovely restaurant, attentive staff and excellent food. We enjoyed a Christmas meal there today. The rooms and the tables were dressed for Christmas, very festive and of course the food was perfect. On a dull, wet day, the temperature in the restaurant was just right. Thank you, we will look forward to our next visit.

Lovely Sunday Xmas lunch with friends

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous food and such excellent service. We had the December menu and there were lots of choices - I can’t decide what course I loved the best! The chicken liver parfait starter was the best I’ve ever had, I had the Turkey main which was delicious and the mango and coconut cheesecake which was absolutely stunning. My partners food was equally as good with the beef cooked medium to perfection. The place is an absolute gem and we will definitely go back! The staff are all fabulous too and really look after you!

The building is beautiful. Presentation of food was good but sadly quality was lacking. Artichoke tasted tinned. Roast potatoes bent when trying to cut into them and tasted like they had been cooked hours before and reheated in the microwave. Tasteless vegetables. The ‘jus’ was poor. Stollen and chocolate truffle were bought from a shop. For the price you pay, I expect fresh, homemade food. Equivalent to a pub meal. Sadly this experience has put me off returning.

I hadn't been to the Cherry House for years but it didn't disappoint. Excellent quality food at a reasonable price. My soup starter and chicken in filo pastry was really very good. Relaxing ambience and prompt service too. Nice neighbourhood dinner with local Werrington friends. I would certainly recommend.

Fine dining at a fair price. Enough choice on the menu to want to come back and try more. The side veg was fantastic, possibly even eclipsing the main. Not keen on the glazing on the kumquat in the post-meal petit-four, though.

We had a fabulous family celebration, all our meals were excellent. The food was beautifully cooked and presented well. The service was so good, the staff were attentive but not intrusive. We all said we would love to return and make it our family go to restaurant

Me and my wife enjoyed our meal at the Cherry House and loved every course and thought the service of the staff was very good and meals in between courses were served in a good time considering they were very busy that afternoon. Celebrated our first wedding anniversary there today 22/10/2023 Would definitely go back there for sure. Thomas & Mina

The food is very good and is well worth the money. The downside is that we were sat on a table where everyone had to walk past us , therefore we had a constant stream of waiting staff and other diners walking very close to our table while we were eating. This spoilt our enjoyment. We did ask to be moved however we were told that there was not an alternative table due to being fully booked. Not the dining experience we had hoped for.

Sunday lunch here again As always really lovely quality, definitely a hidden gem that you almost don’t want to share with too many people. Three courses of lovely food for under £30 and the house wine is £19 recommend this place to anyone. Excellent food at really great prices , and it’s just a little bit special as well who needs more!!

What a Find! Never been to Peterborough before, what a super place the Cherry Tree is, not pretentious, not expensive just really nice food and staff.

Very little to fault, food excellent, service excellent and friendly. Quite expensive and extras not always obvious, but we'll worth it. For a special occasion this is a perfect choice, we will be returning

We recently chose to have our wedding reception at the Cherry House (JULY 2023)...and we are so glad we did.We had around 53 guests and absolutely everyone enjoyed the ambience, service and incredible food. Nothing was too much trouble for Andrew and his team. The outside areas were also really nice for photos. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We were pleasantly surprised to discover the Cherry house could and would accommodate us for my father wake, the food was devine & plentiful, the service and kindness was truly remarkable, I thoroughly recommend the cherry house for any occasion as they never cease to amaze us.

We made a last minute reservation on Saturday afternoon, as my daughter and I were passing through Peterborough and wanted to try something different to the high street offerings. We were delighted therefore to have found this restaurant 20 minutes outside town centre and thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. 5 stars for service (with a smile) from Emma and other team members, and 5 stars for the food which exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is really pleasant. I’d describe the clientele as a slightly older age demographic (that’s me too!) which means there’s a background of muted conversation and quiet music - generally a nice warm atmosphere. All in all a really pleasant environment matched up with good food and service so we’ll definitely return. Finally we didn’t see the kitchen staff - but compliments to the chefs!

The portion I got very small and only 10 french fries and 1 chip. This makes for an expensive meal with poor value. Will not return.

Having moved from Werrington many years ago, we finally returned to The Cherry House with our daughter and son in law for a birthday meal. As it was a lovely warm evening, we had drinks outside whilst perusing the menus. Complimentary nibbles were a nice touch. Once in the restaurant, we couldn’t fault the service or food that was served, and it was nice to be offered a bread roll—a nice gesture that many restaurants no longer provide.The four of us ended up having two different starters, four different mains (piping hot) and four different desserts. Clean plates all round. Decent coffee to finish with petit fours. The bill was £197 which included pre dinner drinks, a bottle of wine and three supplements, and I felt was very reasonable for the whole experience. Yes, we will certainly look to visit again.

Came on a Wednesday evening at 6.30 to a warm greeting and a prompt choice of pre dinner drink along with the menus. A reasonably small selection for each course offered plenty of variety. Escorted through to the dining room by a smart polite young man who provided wonderful service during our meal.He was obviously well trained and a credit to the restaurant.. A popular restaurant giving a good chance for conversation without disturbance by loud background music. Thank you.

Came for birthday meal. Arrived early and had drinks outside in the sunshine. Staff were welcoming and very friendly. Plenty of time to look at menus. Great wine list something for everyone on there. Ordered our food and shortly after we were taken to our table. Food was cooked to perfection and nice spacing between courses. Highly recommend the pannacotta for dessert was delicious. We will definitely be back once we can convince nanny to babysit again.

Our first visit for Sunday lunch since before Covid. Partly because of Covid and partly ill health. It was perfect! Amazing food, great service, lovely place. We hope to go back soon! Can’t speak too highly of The Cherry House.

Great food, good service and an overall great experience.

The last time we visited was for our wedding in July 2021! It was great then, and it was great on Thursday night for my Dads 81st birthday. Wasn't cheap but was worth every penny! They accommodated our gluten-free requirements, and the service was impeccable. The owner (also chef) didn't see us leave, so he ran out of the restaurant to put his hand up to say thanks/bye. 5/5. Will be back and won't be leaving it as long this time!

We were disappointed to be honest . We had the set 3 course menu . One starter was great the crab & prawn salad with an added supplement ! Both main meals were disappointing from the tasting aspect . Also the accomplishment potatoes were not cooked fully which was shared with the waitress as feedback 1 pudding the crème brûlée was also very nice . So out of 6 courses 2 were nice . For us it was all about supporting a local giver rated supposedly restaurant . Unfortunately we was not impressed .

20 out of 10. This quaint, beautiful, cosy and warm food public house is absolutely amazing. The food is of a quality well presented Fantastic standard. This business deserves to be in business!!! The staff are well presented and friendly and the place is clean and very warm. I think this is the best place we have eaten in a long long time!! and my husband and I go out alot to eat. I have to say a big thank you and well done keep up the excellent work. This is a must to go to and eat, if you don't try this place there is something wrong with you 🤣😀x

Talk about going downmarket. This was my favourite restaurant in the 1980s. The food was excellent, as well as exceptional value for money. Two could dine on a five course meal, of superb culinary standard with wine and still have money for taxis to late night entertainment in the most expensive Peterborough establishments, with drinks until the early hours plus taxis for you and your guest home, without breaking through a £70 threshold. I appreciate that times have changed but the paltry Table d'hote of three courses for nearly double the cost of five outruns inflation even in the East of England. The chef patron in the 1980s was about value for money and building a large customer base, whereas the current would appear to be about profit, then getting repeat business. I guess that four visits per month is not enough, don't worry about four in a month. I am not repeating this experience ever again.

I’ve known of this restaurant all my adult life, and at 52 have just made my first visit. There’s a wonderfully traditional feel to this restaurant - and to the service. A warm welcome and a drink in a separate seating area whilst we made our menu choices. The menu has great variety and very well priced. Then we were shown to our table. Both dining areas are intimate and had roaring fires - although this didn’t make the dining rooms too hot. We were sat by the fire in the second dining room, next to the door to the kitchen. Perfect!! The waiting staff were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. The food was delicious, good portion sizes, hot and quickly served. We couldn’t fault it at all and will definitely return!! Thanks to the team for a wonderful evening.

Paid a visit to the Cherry House for lunch with the family. I cannot rate it highly enough. Service was good and food was fantastic and plentiful. Worth every penny and shame we don’t live closer.

Go-to restaurant for a group of friends who worked together in Peterborough twenty years ago. We have dinner here in September and January and have had no complaints on the five or six years we've been coming back...so that's around 160 dinners successfully consumed...well done Cherry House - see you in the New Year

We were taken for the first time by friends who live nearby for a birthday celebration meal .The welcome, service, and cuisine were top quality throughout the whole evening. Polite but homely attention was displayed by all staff members and the atmosphere was most welcoming . We travelled some 30 miles and without a doubt will return again!!!. The restaurant was pretty busy along with another large birthday group but at no time did this bear any reflection on the attention to detail given to ourselves. In this day and age it was fantastic to receive such a lovely welcome and first class service as a given. Thank you to you all, and keep up the great work 👍

Hey! I had the chance to visit this place during my visit to England in 2014!! Excellent food and the best Crème Brûlée I've ever tasted!!

Visited the cherry house on Sunday and was really looking forward to it. The starter was ok melon balls with Parma ham. I chose rib of beef which was chewy I had a selection of vegetables which in my opinion didn't seem to have been seasoned. The sherry trifle was ok but didn't have fresh cream just synthetic cream.very surprised as I I was expecting a very high standard here

Absolutely fabulous. One of the best meals I've ever had. Can't praise enough. The wine was superb too. Wish we lived nearer as we would be here every week.

We went to the Windmill for a 50th wedding anniversary meal with parents. There were six of us including two youngsters. Arrived early and had a lovely drink outside, the service was friendly and attentive but not over the top. The menu choices were great...

Really good food, plentiful portions. Good choice for Sunday lunch with 3-course set price menu at reasonable price. We had to wait quite a while before ordering but it seems that's just how they do things so just go with the flow and enjoy! Diners are crammed into the restaurant when a full house, so if you like to stay more socially distanced I would maybe go somewhere else - just my observation and not a criticism.

Came here for my 30th birthday. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the starters were not very nice and also they were not accommodating to guests who were intolerant to ingredients or did not like the options. For the prices they charge there should be options available so the starters for us accompanied by the “oh well this is what we have on offer” attitude from the staff is the reason for 3 not 5 stars. On a positive note everyone loved their main courses and desserts- beautiful presentation. We even got hot drinks at the end included in the price. Would we come here again? No because there are cheaper places that serve food that is just as nice at a lower price and are more accommodating to dietary requirements or taste. That said the overal presentation of the food was nice as well as the folded napkins and candles. The starters were just really disappointing for the taste and price.

We shared a meal with some great friends and we were very impressed with the venue and food. The place had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the 3 course meal at just over £30pp was really excellent. We all enjoyed our choices and we all said we'd happily dine there again.

Unfortunately I have the misfortune to write this review on what should have been a fantastic night of celebration. I cannot believe the behaviour of the son and owner on our visit. It was a birthday treat and whilst I appreciate it was December, (we can't help when we are born) we still deserve respect and to be treated well. We didn't end up eating at the restaurant as they were so rude an unaccomodating it was embarrassing. The son violently snatched the menu out of my hands for making a playful comment about asking for a birthday drink and then denied it after asking us to leave! I would however point out that the Banyan Tree was absolutely amazing and accommodating later that evening.

The Cherry House is a lovely traditional pub/restaurant with wonderful thatched roof. We visited the Cherry House in December and were impressed with the fantastic menu. The tables were all set with festive hats and crackers and the menu was suitably festive too. Starters, main course and deserts were all beautifully presented and very tasty.
