First visit for my daughters 50th. Lovely old country pub. Good selection of beers and ales. A good choice of stsrters on the menu, not a great many, but nicely done. Chili mango prawns were very good, chicken liver pate looked homemade, garlic breads were very good too. Sunday roasts were a good size and beautifully cooked. We did order extra vegetables . There were several vegetarian choices too. Far too full to order puddings but there was a good selection. The front bar/ dining room is dog friendly always a plus for us. The staff were all very friendly and knew the menu, including the wine menu ,well. We throughly enjoyed out time here. There is a latge garden too so a summer visit is a must too.

Never disappoints. As usual a fabulous roast dinner. I always have the āsmallā roast but itās still a generous portion. Choice between lamb, pork, beef, chicken. Lashings of delicious gravy. Plenty of vegetables. Beautifully cooked and served separately. Perfect roast potatoes . The best value for money Sunday Roads in the area. The sticky toffee parfait was glorious. Service with a smile. Lovely genuine people, who greet you like friends. Dog friendly. Very good wine list.

(Update below) A great pub. I was very happy with the selection of beers on tap. Decent covid measures in place with an effective one way system and plenty of hand sanitizer dotted around. The staff were nice and friendly as were some the other customers who chatted to us while we were there. **Update: Located in the quiet Kentish village of Doddington, this is a lovely traditional country pub. We have been back a few times now and we are never disappointed. A friendly pub with the normal high standards you would expect from any Shepherd Neame pub. The food is very tatsy and the service is equally as good. Usually, I stop off here when on a bike ride as there is some amazing countryside around here to explore and very little traffic. Will back back again soon. š

100% recommend! Had the chilli burger stack (can't remember the name) and it was one of the best burgers I think ive eaten, even asked if they have the chilli relish/sauce they use to buy and the cook makes it himself, unfortunately they don't sell it but if they did it would sell amazing. As you walk in they even had the real fire place going, cozy, warm, friendly and such a welcoming atmosphere! Even allow dogs to chill out too. Definitely will return

Excellently situated in a quiet local village. We tried our classic family favourite, a ploughmanās lunch. Some pubs give you the bear minimum to nibble on. But, the Chequers excelled themselves. Not only decent size portions but a large variety of local produce including Homemade coleslaw, thinly cut fresh ham, cheeses and chutneys. Their ploughmanās lunch was well worth the price. Deserts were the same. Decent size single potions. With a choice of accomplishments like cream, custard or ice cream. I had banoffee pie with ice cream circular biscuit base, a thick layer of toffee and banana and a very generous helping of cream. The banoffee was out of this world. All of the staff especially the barmaid. Weāre friendly, polite and very welcoming.

She made abundant effort to make space for 2 us to dine even when there physically was none available, and followed up with good laughs, great knowledge, and going out of her way to help. On that alone i would highly recommend this pub to everyone, but the food was also delicious too with generous portoin sizes. There is a good selection of drinks and dogs are welcome in the bar side, but not the restaurant side, which i think was a great decison to allow visitors the choice.

I assumed this Pub was worthy of a visit with itās 4.5 star reviews. The building is charming on the outside. The main entrance can be challenging for some people, as itās a steep step down. We were served swiftly by a friendly member of staff. The menu was relatively limited and we both elected to have the āHam, Eggs and Chipsā. As soon as our hot food arrived, we both immediately regretted our choice of venue. The āHam, Eggs and Chipsā, looked disappointing to say the least. Our ham was sliced disproportionately too thick and the eggs had been fried in excessively hot oil causing them to appear bubbled and slightly burnt at the edges. My ham appeared to have a faint odour of expired ham and my baked beans should have been served in small dish to enhance the appearance. The Chef needs to pay more attention to detail with presentation of their food. We both agreed to never return. Some of the local drinkers outside the pub, lowered the tone with their behaviour of rowdy drinking and smoking.

We have been to The Chequers before and it never fails to impress. Good pub grub in the Ā£10-Ā£12 range, local sausages and mash, cod and chips, jacket pots etc plus a range of baguettes with fillings of your choice. We have been to three or four pubs over the last six weeks and all of them tried to rip us off in some way - small portions, inflated prices , extra for vegetables, 10% service charge whacked on with no mention it is at the customers' discretion. Nothing like that The Chequers. Superb food at reasonable prices, served quickly and efficiently. We left feeling, just for a change, that we had had real value for money.

We visited the chequers inn 3 times over a weekās camping trip, each time we were impressed with the delicious food and friendly staff. Thereās a climbing frame for the kids but due to Covid is sadly unusable. The only issue really is how long it takes for food to come out. We ordered at 7:30 and didnāt receive starters until 8:35. Food is worth waiting for but with young children in tow it is a consideration. One final issue was there were no nappy changing facilities if you are with very young children.
