Burgers were awful and the cod in batter was watery and tasteless. £5..99 bottle of wine, price was on the bottle charged £18.50!!! By rights they should have sold that wine for £5.99 as the price was on it ! Typical English people was with didn’t want me to challenge it!! Of course we all know businesses need to make a profit, but as much as £12.50 your local little pub!! Won’t be going back!!

Lovely landlady fitted us in last minute, the COVID safety was taken really seriously and we had to have our temp taken which I thought was great.Starters, mains and desserts were all delicious could not fault a thing! Red Thai curry had a lovely flavour and the chicken was so tender. The steak was the best I have had in a long time and I felt the landlady that I have been to some fine dining places where the steaks are 3 times the price and they weren’t as tasty or cooked as well as mine. They clearly have a talented and creative chef in the kitchen. Can’t forget to mention the crumble it’s the best!

Senior female staff not that friendly towards families, not good for the next generation of drinkers once our children age as my persecution of this place is they would rather not have children in the venue at all. Lady complained about mess on carpet as we was leaving but offered no help or support to clear it up which we was willing to do! Instead the lady turned her back on us after complaining! What did you expect us to do, get down on our hands and knees with crisp packets to tidy the area of crumbs? This would have taken you less than 1 minute to clear with a hoover of dustpan given the surface. Rude and grumpy over a small mess made by children on Xmas day, not a big deal to most people but I’m not alone I’m my opinion. Some feedback I would offer would be too get decked flooring in the back space for families otherwise signs to say not a child friendly venue. I’m a paying customer at the end of the day and kids can sometimes make a mess, fact!

Yes a real pub not a gastro place or a chain pub. Thank goodness! With good food as well and friendly smiley people. I had a chicken burger with excellent chunky chips and my partner had a huge mixed grill, both delicious. Only thing we didn't like was the black pudding which tasted spicy. And it would be nice to have cheese and biscuits instead of sweet things and maybe a fish special; not battered just baked cod or monkfish maybe? Recommended and will visit again.

There was a fantastic buffet with a wide selection of foods. The bar has a great selection of drinks. This pub caters to meet all the customers needs even in the ladies toilet they have body sprays which is a nice touch. The DJ they had was brilliant and played lots of songs from across the decades. This is a great family pub that accommodates for all, it was so nice to spend New Years Eve there with lots of people of mixed ages - a great family evening. The food is so good I look forward to visiting here again in future for Dinner.

Visited today with a large group, just for drinks. There was a problem immediately as the card machine was not working. Nobodies fault and not a problem for us, but clearly this was causing stress behind the bar which transmitted to the customers. We were continually asked to move away from the bar area as there would be people coming through with food. We weren’t asked nicely and at one point the barmaid was just plain rude to us and getting stressed.

I'm envious of all the locals, who have this lovely pub right on their doorstep. Dropped in for Sunday lunch today, which was just superb. One of us had the calves liver, which was piled on the plate, and cooked to perfection. Another had the roast ('a bit of each') and had to ask for a doggy bag as it was so generous. I had the nut roast, with a plateful of roasties, and Yorkshire puddings that my mum would have been proud of. In addition to all this foodie gorgeousness, the place was gently buzzing, with a lovely atmosphere. A fine example of what many of us are missing: a great British local.

A good portion size and the beef was perfectly cooked. A good selection of "proper" vegetables. Cauliflower, carrots and broccoli. Crisp roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud. All served with a smile and nothing too much trouble. Too full in fact to try one of the selection of desserts. I visited here today for my Grandpa's birthday. We were seated in a very reasonable spot in the restaurant and no table is too far from the toilet (I am pregnant so this was very good news to me).The menu has a great variety and we all found it very easy to find something that we fancied. They are also flexible with swapping and changing sides which was a God-send. We didn't need to order at the bar as we had a very friendly and helpful waitress who came up to us and took our order. Everyone's food was well-presented when it came out and very hot. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. Although it wasn't very sunny when we went, I took a look at the garden and thought it would be a beautiful place for lunch in the Summer months. My last main observation is that in the ladies' toilet, it wasn't just clean but had body spray, perfume and sanitary protection at the disposal of anyone that required it free to charge. I thought this was a lovely gesture. I highly recommend this pub for a decent affordable dine out!

Looking for somewhere different for lunch we decided to try The Chequers. Only been once before and had some chips in the bar. My fiance remembered them being very nice. He had the homemade mushroom soup followed by beer battered cod and chips. He really struggled to finish and ended up giving up with some chips left on plate!!!! I had a salad with garlic bread followed by the roast beef. Gravy was a little bland for me but the food was excellent. The veg cooked just right and a huge yorkshire. Unfortuneately this left no room for dessert . Next time i will opt for smaller plate then i can try one of their delicious sounding deserts. Staff were very friendly and helpful. On Christmas Eve we walked to The Chequers for a couple of drinks. There was 6 adults and 4 children - two families and nanny and grandad. When we got in to the pub we looked around for the best table. The one we chose was reserved, so we went for another when the Landlady came over. The lady said, "it is christmas eve, you should have booked". I explained that we did not want food just a drink. The lady said it again. The lady then asked us how many in our party. I told her, then she looked disgusted. Again she told me we really needed to have booked. If the pub has not been empty, and the usually rammed packed it normally is, on Christmas Eve, then I may have undestood. We have never had to book in a pub for a drink! The man behind the bar then said, "mother there are no tables, they will have to stand". Had the man addressed us, instead of talking about us as a third party, maybe we would have understood. The lady then explained that she needed the large area (with lots of empty tables) for her 'Restaurant Area'. If the tables we set as restaurant tables and not pub tables (beer mats) then we may have understood. Feeling saddened by the rudeness, we left. In the summer we used The Chequers every weekend, sometimes there would be 15 of us. You have lost us as customers. Maybe you were stressed but good customer service goes along way.

Went for a mid week lunch. Good car parking, easy to find and made welcome. Pub grub and good beer made for a convivial occasion. Good service from family members. Only slight gripe was the the coleslaw on with the good ribs was not nice at all. Commented to waiter about it tasting like the worse supermarket product said it was homemade!!Apart from that everything was as it should be. Not busy but good atmosphere

They catered well for a dozen of us, though we did wait quite a while (at peak lunch time) to be fed. Beer was in good condition and food was fine.

Had a friendly welcome. The food choice and quality was great. Even came out to the garden to ask if we wanted more drinks, brought them out and we paid later. Best pub service I have had. Loved it!

Pleasant enough, but far from a super pub. Seemed to be a locals pub. Bit off the beaten track but on a bus route through Crockenhill for those that don't drive. On the borders between Kent and Bromley. Similar to lots of pubs relying on local trade. Not bad for a quiet drink, but think I'd look for somewhere with a bit more character next time

My wife & I visited the Chequers after a long ( for me ) shopping trip to Bluewater. It was late in the day & nearing end of lunch service. However, this was not a problem and we enjoyed a lovely meal that was very well prepared. The staff were (as always ) very friendly & helpful. We will be visiting again soon.

We were recommended to try this pub by a friend who lives locally. We rang and booked and were not disappointed. Friendly staff, good selection on the menu and quality real ale selection. Only tried one as I was driving (sadly) but I can recommend the "Otter". Food came out piping hot and in decent size portions. The menu prices were also very reasonable. Will definitely eat here again when in the area. Good Pub food - recommended.

First visited this pub after I moved into the area and whilst the food was nice I'd say it was pretty standard fare. New ownership seems to have shaken things up and I'm happy to report for the significant better! Revised menu, better presentation, new dinner services (E.g plates and serving dishes) and the food was really much much better. We visited for Mothers Day and the place was packed (Always a good sign), roast dinner was plentiful and deserts were yummy. Staff welcome you with a smile, they are warm and friendly and you don't feel rushed to leave. Will definitely go back and will try one of the 'themed' evenings soon.

Normally love this place as the food is amazing and there is a warm, buzzy atmosphere usually. However today we walked in as a family, hoping for some lunch and drinks, to be greeted by a brisk and un
