The Cheeky Pea in Kingston upon Thames

I love this place. I don't go into Kingston that often, but I always go to the Cheeky Pea for a falafel wrap for lunch. Occasionally I think I should mix it up a bit, maybe I should go somewhere else and get a burger or something, and then I realise I don't want to do that, I want a falafel and halloumi wrap from the Cheeky Pea, with a triple helping of amba (spicy mango pickly sauce). So I go and get myself my tasty wrap, and I always feel so happy with my choice. I hear good things about other items on the menu, but I'm practically monogamous with that falafel wrap, I couldn't cheat on it. The staff are all lovely, the food is always delicious and exactly what I needed. If this place ever closed, I would actually cry.

Great Tomato soup. Don't usually like Tomato Soup but this was V Nice. Great service as well. Smell remains me of a good Italian restaurant is used to go to near Blackfrairs

Had lunch here today with my daughter and it was delicious. They're really good helpings with lots of choice of fillings and the staff couldn't be nicer. We will definitely be gong back on our next visit to Kingston.

Regular lunch spot when working in Kingston. Fresh, delicious food at a reasonable price. Good customer service too. Falafel pitta is my go to but Moroccan meatballs is good too. Need to work out how to eat it without making a mess!

We had cheeky pea come and cater for our wedding. the food was incredible as was the service. Personal favourite was the baba ganoush, houmous and falafal. And of course the home made pitas. They're nothing like a pitta from the supermarket. Thanks so much guys!

I reviewed this place six years ago as a 2/5. This review however is a well-deserved 5/5. I went to The Cheeky Pea today for lunch and everything was just perfect. As well as the food being delicious and good value, what stood out was the brilliant service from the two men on duty, to whom it genuinely seemed important that I had a good experience. In a world where customer service is either completely lacking or over the top and fake, I wanted to stress that this place strikes the balance brilliantly. This is my new favourite lunch spot in Kingston!

Being local, I do not eat out in Kingston very much, but I took a guest for a tour of Kingston and we ended up in the Cheeky Pea. It has been here for quite a few years and my son has been several times, but I have not had cause to go there. However, my guest was an expert on falafel and houmus and for him visiting it was a no-brainer. The service and the food were excellent and met my guest's expectations. We had a vegetarian meal, but it could easily have been vegan and they serve meat as well for those who want it. Everything was fresh. The staff were approachable and friendly. The meal was nicely served. The place was clean with and spacious. The cost was reasonable. I was quite impressed. The Cheeky Pea is now very definitely on my list of places to go to and I will certainly direct visitors to it again.

I regularly come here during my lunch breaks and me and my friends have always loved the food that we recieve! The wraps taste lovely and the falafel is some of the best I’ve had. I must also mention the very friendly staff who always make me feel welcome!

Every time i come cheeky pea I’m greeted with such a warm welcome and someone always ready for my order to be taken. Not only is the food amazing and full of variety but the staff are just as amazing! Such great customer service and quality of food every single time I visit. The falafal's are incredible . The best I have had in a very long time . Wonderful & super fresh salad options . Fresh mint tea . Friendly & helpful staff . Very reasonable priced also . While I think the food is lovely, I can not express how I think value for money is not. My child portion for £6.99was so small it was shocking. Also the covid sign in process is very slow and annoying. Will not be returning

Food here is always tasty, staff are welcoming and helpful. Good student deals. Meals are definitely on the more expensive end of the spectrum. Prices seem to keep crawling up and is now usually too much to justify for lunch. I recommend.

The Cheeky pea is quite hidden away from the main drag in Kingston, but still manages a loyal trade of Kingstonites. The choice of dishes is the perfect size for a cafe this size as it ensures each dish is the best it can be. A perfect place for a lovely, friendly healthy Saturday lunch with the kids.

We ate lunch at this restaurant, the food is healthy, tastes good and is excellent value for money. Its a good choice if the weather is not good enough to eat out at the market and its usually easy to get a table event on busy weekends.

My favourite place to eat in Kingston. Food tastes amazing, great value, staff is always helpful and friendly. I think the only issue (from owner's perspective) might be dated decor as I often see people looking at the menu, than looking inside and going somewhere else, which is a shame because the food is absolutely amazing!

Cheeky Pea is a good choice for lunch at weekends as it is normally possible to get a table without having to wait. The food is good and reasonable value.

I'm currently sat in this laid back cafe after eating my delicious lunch. I chose this place after reading some of the menu online and I haven't been disappointed. Friendly staff and tasty,fresh food. I had a 'cheeky meal deal' chicken wrap with hummus (choice of 3 different ones), salad, aubergine and tzaziki, with fries and a can of San Pellegrino for £8.99. You build your wrap or pitta your way, a bit like at Subway. Very impressed. I'll probably be back for another lunch before I leave at the weekend. Oh, there's free WiFi too-really handy, since the travel lodge wants £3 a day for it!

I have always been curious about the cheeky pea and it was a truly lovely surprise when I finally dined here! The food was very fresh and so yummily-moreish (so good that I just made up this word). I often am in Kingston for work, and I started looking at lunch options that aren’t a packaged sandwich meal deal from Sainsbury’s. Am sat in the cheeky pea writing this review! I got the meal deal pitta (falafel, salad and chunky chips with lemonade) and was immediately impressed with the food - good price, good portions and cheery staff! I was served by the guy in glasses who explained what everything was in the salad bar, his enthusiasm was contagious. I have no doubt I’ll be back!!

Probably not for everybody but if you like things like humus and salad. It's good value for money and you get large portions. I like it a lot, worth a try

Visited with a falafel lover and we both liked the food. Very friendly staff. Simple decor and spacious. You can easily come with a bugging. We felt that there was something missing to make the place a little cosier but overall very satisfied

Have walked past this place a hundred times but finally popped in for lunch whilst shopping. I had a salad bowl with falafel and my partner had a falafel wrap, both were delicious and lots of it! My salad was delicious, good choice of hummus and salad , I was offered a pitta but had extra aubergine instead. The falafel were crisp and really tasty. The wrap was crammed full. Low key and no frills but food is great and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

I have been coming here since I moved to nearby Surbiton most times I come into Kingston and I love it. There is a great vegan selection which is great for me and the food is beyond delicious. The salad is the tastiest salad and I look forward to having it and this is from someone who normally hates salads. The falafel is perfection and you get so much food for the price it's brilliant. Everyone who works there is friendly and if you choose to eat in its a really peaceful place to sit and enjoy your food. I have taken friends with me when they are visiting and everyone has loved it.

We ordered the cheeky feast for two with a side order of chips which made a good size lunch for two people. The food is healthy, tasty and good value at about £16 for two with drinks.

Popped in here on Saturday for the first time for a quick lunch and I was really pleasantly surprised! The food is fresh, tasty and delicious. There’s a good range of salad options and the hummus is really tasty (if a little smooth for my taste). Staff were friendly and v knowledgeable about the food on offer. Tucked away in a rather shaded part of the Walk, this small store is a friendly find for lunch and take-away. A comprehensive menu of wraps, pitta and salad bowls, eagerly dispensed by helpful counter staff. I had a tasty grilled halloumi pita, with lashings of hummus and yogurt, plus a selection of salad from plenty of options. My companion had a falafel wrap with a very different but equally appealing range of add-ins. The place is bright and clean, if a little spartan in its decor; very much a good place for a quick and tasty lunch or a nutritious take-away.

I love the food in the cheeky pea. It's healthy and delicious and has a hearty touch. The staff are friendly chilli sauce is roasting. I recommend the do it yourself falafel wrap. It's cool and scrumptious. All the best to the restaurant's future and hope it carries on producing top quality food. Having eaten here twice in the past and enjoying it, I went in today again to get a takeaway. I stood for a few minutes while the man behind the counter completely ignored me. After a few minutes, I got bored and left.I've never seen this place busy so how they can afford to ignore customers is beyond me.What a shame.

This small and cosy restaurant offers not only meat-based food, but has also great vegetarian and vegan options. As I came outside the main lunch hours the service was quick and everyone was very friendy. I had a falafel pitta and their homemade mint lemonade and both tasted amazing! A nice place to have a vegan lunch and meet with friends. Affordable prices for tasty simple food. It would be much nicer if there were vegan options for desert as well and I felt there could be much more potential for the choice of fresh smoothies. The atmosphere inside was quite chilled.

Popped in for a late lunch, GF and I both had a wrap meal-deal with fries. Really good portion size and REALLY tasty. Choice of hummus and other sauces, good salad selection and an AWESOME mint lemonade. Tasty and SUPER sour.Nice falafel too. But seriously, try that lemonade. Before you eat. Sour.

Great value for healthy and tasty food - based around several varieties of hummus (I now understand the name of the restaurant, I think - try pronouncing 'chick pea' in a Mediterranean accent). Staff were friendly and helpful explaining the different things on offer and steering me towards a favourite. I was very glad to find this place, tucked away as it is in one of Kingston's less glamorous arcades.

Excellent falafel served quickly and at a reasonable cost.I recommend the falafel wrap with grilled haloumi and salad. Delicious for lunch.Recommended!

As a veggie and vegan couple,we find it difficult to find a good and affordable place to eat in or take out,until we found the Cheeky pea! Could not recommend it enough! Came here maybe a year ago and had a wrap with falafel and halloumi and lots of different sauces, and some sort of minty lemonade thing. I remember it being really delicious and cheaper than a not so good alternative i might have otherwise had from pret or another chain. On top of the good quality food, I left my debit card by accident and the staff looked after it for me until I realised and came back to collect it.Must try to come back soon!

We ate Saturday lunch in this restaurant, it was fairly quite and easy to get a table. The food especially the falafel was very good it was also very good value.

This place is great for a quick lunch - we usually have the hummus bowl with comes with a choice of filling (meatballs, chicken or veg) and you can build your own custom side salad which is nice. We usually order a side of 3 falaffel as well but receive 4 for two of us which is appreciated! It's fairly simple and not a place for a several course well but for lunch it's great.

I am Vegan and usually don't get overwhelmed by falafels as they are a staple to my diet. This place however really impressed me in terms of service, freshness and consistency. I love the parsley Tahini and swear by the freshness of the falafels. It's well worth a try - especially in an area like Kingston where vegan places are not that easy to come by.

As someone who grew up where falafels and fava beans constitute the cornerstone of national breakfast, it was a total delight to bump into this place. I always take a combination of falafel and fava beans. Aubergines are also amazing and everything is made to order. The bread is fresh and fragrant and the home made tea is just amazing. They have the vegetarian option, they have the 'Meat-loving' option, which makes of the Cheeky Pea a very good place to be. Service with a smile, always!

I buy my lunch from here maybe 2 - 3 times a week and it never fails to absolutely blow me away - the food is first class and the amounts generous, the staff are super friendly and The Cheeky Pea is truly one of the gems of Kingston - I cannot recommend this place highly enough :)
