The Chapterhouse Cafe in South Lanarkshire

I ordered a corporate buffet today for a meeting with guests from all over the UK, they all raved about the selection of the lunch and the quality of the food. Was delivered to our premises at the time requested, fresh, mixed selection and I could not have been happier. All guests said they cannot wait to come back as they enjoyed so much. Thank you Chapterhouse 👏

My cousin took me here for lunch on my last day in Scotland. Very nice inside and were seated right away. I had my last Scottish breakfast which I just love and will miss going back to Arizona, USA. Good food and nice service. I would eat here again!

Excellent fresh and tasty food in a lovely location and lovely staff. It’s the best place for lunch in the Bothwell area or just for a coffee and cake

Lovely cafe. Lots of cakes to choose from. Also do soups, panini's, chips, breakfasts, various hot filled rolls. Safe are all friendly and helpful.

We love this place and it never disappoints. The eggs Benedict menu is my favourite. But none of us have ever had a bad meal. Service is always friendly. Recommend booking in advance.

I feel i must change my opinion of this little cafe. I wrote a review some months ago and was a wee bit unfair to the cafe in my remarks. That day i had found stressful before i arrived so it must have tainted my view! I have since been back several times and always had nice food and staff are extremely pleasant even though they are busy at times. Wheelchair access is very good. Parking is still sometimes a bit hit and miss but ive always managed to find a space.

Incredible meat! The best South African steaks… With a very kind staff.. Rooms are a bit noisy though.. You will not regret it!

We had a lovely lunch her. The staff all give you a warm welcome. All covid rules are followed. The food was delicious and well presented. It well worth a visit.

Had lunch here last week.Food was excellent.Home baking was gorgeous infact a great place to lunch.I would recommend that you do not leave it to late for lunch as it is very busy cafe.

3 of us visited this restaurant on a saturday afternoon it was very busy but service was swift and wzitress polite.. the food was delicios everyone cleared their plates would definitely return also their cakes were scrumptious

Went to the cafe today after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. We had drinks and cakes. The cakes were lovely and the service speedy. The menu looked good and we will return for lunch sometime. Lovely cafe with a nice view of the church next door. The one down side was the inane, dreadful pop music that was being played. This seems to be commonplace nowadays but I cannot understand why.

After passing this by a good few times we decided to pop in for breakfast this morning .My wife had the French toast with Bacon and syrup ...and thought it was great .I had a roll on Lorne plus a bacon & potato scone doubler ...only disappointment only one rasher of Bacon for £2.50 ??

Go here every week and it never disappoints. Great atmosphere all people in bothwell come here because it’s just so good. For being a small cafe it’s a terrific place look forward to coming back !

Came to this wee place on the recommendation of 2 of the shopowners and glad we did. Had an excellent menu with all day breakfasts, toasties, soups, paninis, cakes etc so plenty to choose from. My mum had the breakfast which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the BLT which can be quite difficult to get the thumbs up from me in cafes but have to say they succeeded! One of the best I've had.Cafe was bright and clean and service friendly and fast. Will definitely be back.(They've also opened another one in Hamilton which we'll be giving a try too!)

This is an attractive place for lunch. The staff are very attentive and the food tasty and reasonably priced. Can be busy at certain times. Parking at a premium.

Dropped on for a coffee and something to eat. The food was very nice as was the coffee.

Love the freshly made scones, and the black pudding salad is incredible. Good quality, local cafe for breakfast and lunch. Nice daily soups and a range of options for children too.

Great place for lunch and the home made soup is always excellent!! The home baked cakes, biscuits are always lovely, too! The only downside is the lack of parking but this is more to do with the quality of the food and the number of people wanting to visit!

Friendly and welcoming ,extremely helpful and friendly staff. Food was hot and tasty excellent cup of coffee , would certainly use again a real asset to the village.

This is an ideal place for a quick lunch-stop. The food is good and wholesome fare, and the service is good. It is usually very busy which is always a good sign.

After reading some good reviews we thought we would go for a coffee and cake. One of the downsides is the car parking. Very cramped and busy and certainly not easy to park. Luckily someone was leaving and we parked in the vacant space. Inside was quite busy and very noisy. A group of 6 young women making the most noise and an echo seemed to add to it. Coffee was nice and the fruit scone too. I don't think we would come back though . Nice enough.

Bothwell has a plethora of very good eateries all catering for the breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea, yummy mummy and dinner crowd of Bothwell and surrounding areas. The Chapterhouse is definitely among the best.

We had a pretty average lunch here,not as good as anticipated. Don't be tempted to purchase the tablet,it is stale,costs £2.30. The tablet went straight into the bin after tasting one piece,a total waste of money.

Being a local have visited the Chapterhouse on many occasions , either takeaway lunch or sit in lunch .Food is homemade , delicious and fresh , which explains it being a tad more pricey than other local takeaway deli/cafe . Well worth it though as I've never had a bad meal out of here

The cakes are to die for all amazing. Don,t go here if you are on a diet as you will need to have steel willpower to resist the cakes !

Beautiful lunch for kars birthday... staff friendly... food delicious and no skimping on the fillings... we both had a quesadilla... one chicken fajits and one black pudding, egg mayo and crispy bacon... can't fault anything at the chapterhouse café... good value for money... definitely will be back

Wishing to try somewhere new for lunch we ended up at the Chapterhouse Café and were not disappointed.It was very busy and we had a short wait for a table.The food was excellent, as was the service and the staff. The home made soup was superb.The atmosphere was filled with noisy chatter. I believe that Wednesday and Saturday lunch times are like this due to the numbers attending classes in the church. This will not deter us from returning.

Another great visit to the Chapterhouse; 10 years now! Staff and food as good as ever, and changes enough to keep you coming back for more. The cakes do that anyway!! Well done Chapterhouse...!!!

We had time to kill before the coach took us off to Edinburgh for NYE shift. Stopped here for a lovely cappuccino and cake. Great friendly waitress service.

Stopped for a quick lunch, ended up staying for an hour. The food was delicious, with great service. The cakes in particular were excellent

I was shocked and disappointed at being charged £2.45 for one piece of average looking bread, smeared with margarine with a minimal amount of grated cheese on it and the bottom half of the slice pressed into the top half.That was it, no frills, nothing else on the plate. It looked very unappetising and the grated cheese all fell out when my 2 year old granddaughter picked it up to it eat it.And I am sorry, but there is NO justification for charging £2.45 for one piece of bread with a smidging of grated, tasteless cheese. Just beyond outrageous!!!

My friend and I popped in for tea and cake, delicious, cakes were homemade and so tasty. Service was great. Well worth a visit to this bright, airy cafe.

Becoming a bit of an institution in the village, the Chapterhouse is as busy as ever. Chocca busy on a Saturday due to the many classes taking place in the church halls and other places nearby, but well staffed and more than capable of dealing with it. Great options on the menu from breakfasts through lunch. Bright spacious and clean with a good atmosphere, clean facilities and parking. Popular with everyone from kids to grannies - maybe a bit more expensive than other cafes but it's actually more like a restaurant, so well worth it!

Perfect for a pop in lunch - love it lovely people. Consistently good. My mum (passed away a few years ago) always loved it there and its a place where I always remember good times with her. If fact I'm going to pop in tomorrow for a coffee and a cake !

This cafe has proved very popular with locals and visitors. I like it because of the friendly staff and baby facilities; plenty of high chairs and nearby changing area. The food is good, coffee is nice and the home made cakes are delicious. Well worth a visit.

I dropped into the Chapter House Cafe today with a friend who I had not seen in a while. We had an all day breakfast and I have to say it is the best cooked breakfast I have had in years. Great sized portion and extremely tasty. The staff we lovely, so friendly and very attentive indeed. Prices are very reasonable and the cafe is very nice. The cakes were also fantastic and I shall be making the Chapter house cafe a regular weekly visit. Highly recommended if you are in Bothwell or Uddingston.Dougie

No complaints about staff or food just gets a bit congested at certain times with the ya ya mummies chasing after the Tarquin's and Tatiana's running riot as the building is connected to a church with a mother and toddler group.

Clean, family friendly, place and safe for children to be about.Menu limited and not cheap but quality good.

The staff are very welcoming, food is fresh and tasty and prices reasonable. It benefits from being attached to the lovely Bothwell church and has big bright windows.

I found this place quite expensive for an average standard of cafe food, everything tastes similar. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.

While my daughter was at a dance class nearby I popped in for a cuppa. I thought the service was excellent. The prices were reasonable and I enjoyed my scone. Definitely would return.

Fairly modern cafe well kept in church halls but pricey. Seating not for relaxing. Food options reasonable, tasty and nicely presented. Limited car parking.spaces due to the many other activities within the halls.disabled parking and access very good.

Out for a walk with 8 friends and stumbled across this great cafe beside the Kirk in Bothwell. Good food, fair prices and really attentive and accommodating staff. Don't miss this one if you are in Bothwell.

Excellent cafe in centre of Bothwell. Ideal meeting place for breakfast, coffees, lunch or afternoon tea!! Good varied menu but spoiled for choice when it comes to cakes!! Carrot cake especially is delicious.

There's a lot of places to eat in Bothwell but in here it's comfortable for people of my age ( getting on a bit) and that's what I like about it its friendly and calm and food is lovely

Went for a spot of lunch with my newborn son and husband. The staff (and other customers) couldn't have been more accommodating or friendlier. Food was excellent as always and will definitely be back.

I went to the Chapterhouse cafe with my young children and elderly aunt, the staff were very accommodating and welcoming my children and most considerate to my aunt. They really went above and beyond in their treatment of us and the food was just what we wanted and the cakes...Oh so many to choose from! Will definately be back and would highly recommend to everyone.

This is great cafe, which we drive out of our way to go to and visit regularly. It's always immaculate and the staff are very friendly, service is great and the food is always delicious with my favourite being the all day breakfast, which is very good value oh and the home baking is delicious too.

Dropped in for a quick brunch with some mates on the advice of a friend and was left pleasantly surprised! Some excellent food was had in what was a very friendly and relaxed environment. Service was spot on. A swift return will be happening shortly (even if only to work through the terrific cake selection!!!)

This special place is the hub of all kinds of social gatherings in Bothwell, young and old. Great breakfasts, lunches and home baking all served up by friendly staff in a cheerful atmosphere. Tend to meet here with friends twice weekly. Only wish it were open in the evenings and Sunday's too!!

Love the soup . It's always a wee bit different and quite often get some to take home. Unfortunely the parking can be a problem as the building is used for a number of activate lies.

Nice atmosphere welcoming staff and good food. Great to just drop in for a quick coffee, snack or lunch.

Always a pleasure to visit the Chapterhouse, a modern building next to Bothwell Parish Church. There is always a good selection of teas, coffee and light snacks. The atmosphere is friendly and the premises spotlessly clean. It is popular, as might be expected. If coming by car, try to find a parking space a little away from the Chapterhouse as space is always in demand. You won't be disappointed by a visit here.

Lovely home cooked food and sandwiches which have very ample fillings. Nice cosy atmosphere in modern surroundings beside the Parish church. Prices are reasonable and service efficient and friendly.Closes too early !!

I come here often when visiting my Family. The staff are always very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Nice variety on the menu plus the choice of a daily special, I usually have the soup and sandwich followed by a cake with a pot of tea. Very easy going atmosphere, come early at lunch time as it can get very busy very quickly.

Always have a lovely lunch here. Been coming for a few years. The choice is great, lovely soup and variety of nice cakes. The staff are so friendly and always remember me although I do not live in the area. It is so clean and nothing is too much trouble. Call in anytime I am in the area. You always get a good meal.

We eat here most weekends, lunch while we are in the area. Never had a bad dish yet. Menu mainly soup, Toasties, rolls, sandwiches, wraps and baked potatoes. There is always something different on specials menu and plenty of delicious cakes to choose from. Very family friendly and all staff are lovely. Highly recommended.

This is such a friendly, bright and comfortable place with excellent staff. The food selection is excellent, baked potatoes, sandwiches, all day breakfast, home made soups, delicious arrays of cakes and buns, good coffee and tea. There is plenty to chose from plus the culinary adventure of the specials each day. My husband had the Chapterhouse Breakfast which he polished off in silence which indicates that he loves what he is eating. I had the special, a baked potato with crispy skin, just the way I like it, with tiny meatballs and a spicy salsa. It was delicious. Pricing is very reasonable and it is the perfect place for lunch, morning or afternoon tea or coffee with cake. A little wander down the Main Street looking at real character shops or a lesson in the social history of our country gained from a stroll around the gravestones in the next door church should help burn off the calories if the temptation of the day is raspberry and white chocolate muffin. Arrive early for lunch, they have a strong local following.

My family and I eat here often. For breakfast, coffee and cakes or lunch. The children are welcome and can play outside and be seen while you are eating. Food always lovely and quick, there is a "home cooked" feel. Love the lemon and coconut slice, usually have one piece there then take one home! Loved by all my family and one of the few places the children don't mind coming to. Only negative is it is rather expensive for what you get.

I now come here to meet one of my friens when I'm in the area,after another little cafe on the Bothwell Main Street closed.The capuccino is ok but not very strong and the roll and sausage and scones are average.The French toast with bacon and maple syrup that my friend had was dissapointing and most of it was left on the plate.The place is clean and sunny with the sun streaming through the large windows which makes it a pleasant place to meet your friends.If it's greatbaking and coffee then I'd look elsewhere as it is average and pricy with a very cramped small carpark.Unfortunately there is a lack of competition on the coffee shop scene in Bothwell

Have had a few lunches here over the last few months and years. The staff are friendly, food great, service with a smile and good choice of menu. It is always clean and the staff remember you which is really nice as I don't live nearby.
