The Chalet Tearooms and Restaurant in Allerdale

We had drinks after a walk along the lake. Very nice and has parking outside the front of it.

I had a lovely lunch here today. No problem changing something I didn't like that came with it. Service was impeccable. Didn't have to wait long for anything and all at fair prices. Will be going again.

Called in for breakfast and had the full Cumbrian. Great quality ingredients cooked well. Dog friendly too, even had towels for dogs to lie down on.

Lovely food and lovely setting. Shame on the price though. £6:75 for Beans on Toast, like I know things have went up lately but come on that’s ridiculous!

Spot on for everything. Eggs and avocado on toast has set a new standard for me. I'm gob smacked.

We just had a coffee. But the staff are so nice, I have IBS and diabetes, they let me use the toilet after I left the cafe, I really appreciate their kindness.

Does get very busy so plan on getting there early! Good menu and wonderful cakes!

A welcome pit stop after a day in the hills

Walked here from Keswick, about 3/4 mile so an easy walk. Ordered a fruit scone with jam and cream as well as a latte. Gorgeous scone, nice and thick, the clotted cream was a tub of Rodda's classic cornish clotted cream which I always think is the best and a mini jar of strawberry jam. Latte also lovely. Couldn't have asked for a better scone or latte.

Fantastic spot for brunch, especially on a wet and windy day like today! The Tiroler Grostl was absolutely fantastic, and my wife said the smashed avocado with poached eggs and bacon was great - especially with the accompanying red pepper salsa. Friendly staff and nicely decorated ready for Christmas.

After a walk around the lake , we stopped off for lunch on route. Staff were lovely, helpful, and friendly. We had the spaghetti carbonara, delicious, freshly cooked, authentic, very impressed. So good, we had to try their equally yummy puds, we were not disappointed , we will back to sample more 😀

Always a place for us to visit whenever we are in Keswick. Food excellent and the staff are amazing. Such a lovely place to eat and rest your aching feet for alittle while.

Lovely spot after a hike up Catbells. Had a lovely fruit scone and coffee. People and dog friendly. Treats and water bowls available, and towels if needed. Well worth a visit to recharge after that hike!

Visited last week after an aborted walk to Dodd Wood via the Allerdale Ramble route from Keswick. Only had tea on this visit but the cakes looked good and the staff were friendly... Spacious and light...

Fine, but a bit average, both the food and the atmosphere feels a bit like it's been cost engineered to be just good enough rather than excellent. However staff where friendly and service was quick and efficient.

Brilliant food, warm and cosy with towels for the dogs to lie on. Happy puppies= happy mom!

Wonderful poaches eggs and avocado. Lush Red Velvet Cake. Quick and efficient service with the "Put your flower in the bottle when you're ready to order" system. Doggy friendly too!

Really great spot for a bite to eat after hiking in the area. Large cafe/restaurant with outdoor seating. Sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes, pizzas and more. Also cakes and scones. The service was great and the food was wholesome and tasty. Highly recommend.

We're staying in the village for a week so popped in for breakfast. Really enjoyable, bacon was tasty. Will be back for brunch/lunch with a wine later in the week. We didn't want to leave our week away! **update popped in for lunch had the BLT and the veg pesto ciabatta with portion of wedges (gorgeous!), glass of wine and a cider. All was delicious.

What a gem of a place!! Staff so friendly and over-and-above helpful, coffee & scones delicious! We just wished they could be open a bit longer so we could have an early evening meal there! 🙂

Good place to stop after a walk. Sat outside but under cover, safely under cover from the showers. Service was quite quick and the food was good.

Lovely food in a stunning location!

Walked past this many times, arrived a little late for food so just bought a couple of drinks and asked for tap water too as it was hot. Got serviced with the cold drinks and a glass of hot water. I kindly asked if she could change it, she grabbed the glass threw the water over a bush then used the hose pipe to fill my glass.. not the best experience. I can only presume the heat was getting to her , but won't be going back

Excellent as usual...nothing bad about this place

Visit this place regularly on our trips to or from the nearby marinas. A great spot for coffee and a scone. The rest of the menu also looks pretty good but can't comment as haven't tried much. Service is always friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be back.

Lovely coffee and French toast in a cosy cafe. Exceptional service from happy staff. So welcoming and friendly. The place was pristine and lots of homemade items to choose from.

Lovely stop for breakfast before visiting Derwentwater and CatBells. You might think I’d have a bit of regret shovelling a mountain of tiroler gristl before ascending CatBells..but I’d do it again, it just tasted too good.. very dog friendly and good coffee.

A great find, on the outskirts of Keswick - but well worth the drive (or walk!). Seems to be busy all of the time. Dog friendly. We had the Eggs Benedict and the Tiroler Grostl (new one on me but, outstanding and filling !!). Don't forget to put your windmill up straight when you're ready to order (you'll see).

Stopped here for a mid walk snack. Service was good and prompt (not too busy) and we liked the windmill ordering idea. It worked a treat. Food was good and tasty and coffee was as it should be. We'd stop here again.

Most of the family is vegetarian. This cafe had a great selection of vege food. Service very well organised.

Great french toast and the chilli was excellent , very friendly and quick service ,was great to see one of the team took the time to help a elderly gentleman with the bus times.

This place is fab! If I lived in Keswick I'd come here every day. My friends and I had an absolutely delicious breakfast. I highly recommend it.

Sun. 18 October 2020. 1 pm. Staff having to manage Covid regulations like everyone else, but unlike a lot of hospitality staff the Chalet staff were outstanding. Amazing woman was marshalling customers and keeping vacated tables cleared at same time, never missed anyone arriving and waiting to be seated. Other staff were attentive and sensible, deferring delivery of hot drinks till after soup and sandwiches. Really pleasant and the food we had was excellent. Loved this place since before it was the Chalet, but today it was outstanding.

We really enjoyed the full Cumbrian and French Toast on the two days we called in for breakfast. Staff super efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.

Every time we visit Keswick we have at least one Breakfast visit to The Chalet. Today 5 of us plus 2 dogs on one table, 5 Full Cumbrian Breakfasts served all together. Perfectly cooked with fast service very helpful as always.

This place is a total gem of a find. The staff were amazing and the food was top notch. My husband and I were recommended by a fellow traveler and we had a super afternoon there. Really 5 star food, staff and venue. Highly recommended by myself and my husband.

Agood clean tearoom not overly attentive but in the background a big yellow flower was used to attract the attention of the staff which worked well

Lovely food but pricey. Service felt rushed but it was Easter sunday and they were very busy.

Stopped here for lunch as around the corner from our hotel. Very busy but it was drizzling. Had a lovely soup quite a good menu. Seemed to be only 2 working but they managed. Like most places in keswick dogs welcomed with even towels to dry them off.

A really good informal eatery I had the Tyrol inspired dish, so tasty would be a great pick me up if you were coming off the fells. Good selection of snacks and drinks. Very dog friendly too.

Had the Full Cumbrian breakfast and it really was incredible! The BEST breakfast mushrooms I've ever had and it was a damn good sausage too. Decent portion size and sound prices. Dog friendly and staff were very helpful and lovely. Very good system of being ready to order via a flower in a vase so there's no pressure to order. Would return here again in a heartbeat.

Good food, well cooked and reasonably priced. Unfortunately let down slightly by being cold enough to need you keeping your outdoor coats on. Very dog friendly though!

Does exactly what it says on the box

Pricey as this is the lake district. Drinks came after food which is schoolboy error. Cake, scone and cheese scone all had great flavour to them. Highly recommend the lemon drizzle cake. Good position. Dog friendly. Parking is pretty good. Great service from first waitress, then lack of finesse from the second. 5 stars for food as shown

Lovely place to stop off for a snack or a drink.. whether you've been hiking around Derwent and need a rest or out for a stroll, it's a lovely environment to relax in. I always try to pop in for a mid day sausage sandwich and a cuppa during my yearly Keswick trips. The staff have always been very welcoming and supportive and it's been a genuinely nice place to watch the weather go by.. I've only been in at Christmas time, and it's very tastefully festive.. enjoy every visit
