The Castle Inn in Pembrokeshire

Visited here today passing on a walk and I didn't expect it to be open. Food is stunning with good portion sizes. Service is spot on. Lovely location. I can't see how they can improve.

We had such a brilliant evening at the Castle Inn. Really friendly and efficient service and absolutely delicious food. I’m gluten free so was so pleased the special of sea bass was GF (two sea bass fillets, with roasted new potatoes, exceptionally good!) and everyone else had fish and chips which were apparently great. We all had desserts which were lovely, and the meal and drinks worked out at really good value. Definitely recommend the Castle Inm 10/10.

We ate here twice during our stay in Manorbier and it was excellent on both occasions. Due to covid restrictions it was takeout only but the food was still served hot and presented well. We can’t wait to come again once it it properly opens!

Nothing better than coming to a small secluded village and being recommended the local pub to have a take away meal from on your first night after lock down in particular. We had the salt and pepper squid , the lagoons burger for my son (who said that was just too good !(he is 13). My wife had the veg lasagne which she loved (she isn’t a vegetarian). I had the sesame chicken which was very spicy and nice on a bed of what I would call wild rice which was lovely. Prices were very good for the high quality of food, thank you , and we will be back !

This is an exceptional pub, with excellent food and a warm/welcoming atmosphere. Its youthful staff are brilliant and hugely accommodating. The menu is short, but extensive enough to work round over several nights. The beer (Atlantic) is also excellent. So relaxing, even in these COVID times. Thank you.

We needed a place to eat enroute to Tenby. Manorbier seemed like a great spot. After watching the sun setting in the bay we wandered to the castle inn. What a find! A really cool pub, great chilled music, great vibe, and the best burger we have had! Seriously. The kahuna burger was amazing. (We are assuming the landlord is a fan of pulp fiction!) Our meal didnt arrive quickly , but good freshly prepared food doesnt. So as a place to relax and enjoy a good local pint whilst building up your appetite its perfect.

Have eaten here several times over the past few years whilst visiting Pembrokeshire, this year it was a pleasant surprise to find that they have really 'upped their game'. It was much busier with people eating there than in previous years but still retains it's village pub feel.The place is very relaxed and the staff are friendly and helpful . Quite a small menu but I must say the fish and chips were of a very high quality, and tasted SO fresh!(Rick Stein would be happy with this plate)

THe Castle Inn is right in the centre of Manorbier. It looks quite small from the outside but its a Tardis! THe Garden at the rear is v big and set out with tables.Very cheerful congenial service with a smile.Excellent pub menu and v reasonable prices.Lots to love here!highly recommended AAAAA

Very nice meal in the village of Manorbier. Portions generous and of excellent quality. The scampi was great. The only thing I would say is that I would have liked tartar sauce with it. Otherwise perfect.

This pub is simple and unassuming, but don't be put off. It is very welcoming and offers excellent pub food. Portions are generous and tasty.There are outside tables.Parking in Manorbier can at times be challenging, but there is always the beach car park if needed.

What a find! We’d been out for a huge walk with the dogs and came across the pub. Sat in the garden and had the Kahuna burgers. Wow, they were fantastic and chips were epic. Would highly recommend a visit!

We were staying down the road (about 100m!) at Castlemead for a few days and ventured here for a drink on our first night. Lovely sunny terrace at the back with plenty of (distanced!) seating and table service (unfortunately the norm these days). So, when it's busy you can wait a while for a drink as you can't just go to the bar and with its very popular pizza takeaway service, this place is usually buzzing. We ate here the following evening. Food was ok - we both had the curry, but wished we'd gone for the pizza afterwards which looked delicious and obviously 'properly' done in the big pizza oven out back. All in all, a great place - very friendly and accommodating in what must be very trying times for pub landlords. Thank you!

A warm welcome at The Castle Inn, we sat in the lovely beer garden which was well spaced out. We order two items from the small dishes to share, Chicken dippers and the loaded chips which were very tasty. Wish we had found this place sooner on our holiday.

A really good place for an informal meal, great atmosphere, twinkling fairy lights, fairly busy and worth booking, we had scampi, fish and chips and chilli con carne, all about a tenner and delicious 😋

Stayed here for 4 days the food was amazing the staff super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean with lots of character. Would definitely stay here again

We had a very friendly welcome on arrival and throughout our evening the staff attended to our every need. They really looked after us :))We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Castle Inn, sampling tasty seafood and fab homemade chips.We then ventured inside from the spacious beer garden to experience the friendly atmosphere and awesome local clientele. In short visit this pub, it’s cosy, friendly and welcoming and great value for money.

Stopped here on a rainy Tuesday for lunch. The food was excellent and service friendly. The only very slight issue was that they seemed slightly disorganised and nobody took our details for track and trace.

With the weather on day 4 of our trip a bit damp we headed to the castle Inn for lunch,the pub was very nice with a good selection of beer not much on the traditional hand pull though.lunch was ordered off a simple menu and arrived not long after we ordered, food was hot and tasty.probably the only down side to a pleasant visit was the lack of a lock on the gents loo and the lack of a toilet seat.that said I'd gladly go back.

I visited the Castle Inn yesterday evening with family. Unfortunately the young staff members were put under a great deal of pressure with this venue being greatly under staffed. We were told when ordering that there was a long wait for food, but we weren’t expecting it to be 1 hour 45.minutes. It turned out that we weren’t the only table waiting a very long time for meals. Also, none of the social distancing guidelines were adhered to, with tables being very close together. No contact details were taken for the track and trace system that hospitality is required to follow. This was the only pub that we visited in Pembrokeshire for food that did not follow the guidelines. This, under different circumstances, would be a lovely pub to visit. It has a very pretty beer garden and a good atmosphere when customers aren’t complaining about the wait. Management need to sort out their staff numbers and supply them with PPE.

Visited Sunday evening, only beer garden open due to COVID restrictions. Lovely evening to dine outdoors, we had reserved a table but when arrived it was very busy & we where given the first table they could find that was free. Ordered promptly enough and food came in good time considering how busy it was but there was no sign of our drinks & had to ask 3 times. I felt sorry for the staff as they didn’t know which way to turn next. Food however was great, fresh homemade pizza was excellent. We will definitely go back & hopefully next visit they will have ironed how to cope with the current restrictions. Thank you to the team doing a great job in very difficult circumstances.

Excellent beer garden with summer night parties. Pub was spacious and well decorated. Food was excellent with a gluten free menu on request. However the staff was very rushed - so Service Can be slow.

We spent New Years Eve here. The atmosphere was perfect, it's a great pub.The staff and owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. On top of that, they make the best chips I've had for years (I'm a chef). I can't recommend the pub highly enough.

Just had a delicious meal at the Castle, make sure you have chips they are amazing. Friendly, well presented food, large portions. We will be back!

This is a very old and quirky pub . We would call it a great find ! . Didn't open until 12 noon however it was great when inside . good local ales too

We had lunch here on our walk from Freshwater east to Tenby. it is a quaint pub with various parts to it. We placed our order, although there was some confusion about the number of soups ordered! I ordered the Glamorgan sausages, which turned out to be more like a cheese and leek burger. Most of the meals arrived in small batches, but the four soups seemed to take for ever. We did wonder if they had made the soup from scratch after we had ordered it!

From the outside the pub is nondescript, and I wouldn't have made it my first choice for a meal. However, appearances are deceptive, and after checking reviews we gave it a try and we had a fantastic meal. Other reviews all mentioned the chips, so I was expecting great things. They were possibly the best chips ever! Thin and very crispy, and a huge portion too. The fish I had was in a light crispy batter and very good, but the best bit was the salad 'garnish' . To call it a garnish is to totally undersell it - what it actually was was a beautifully presented simple bowl of green and white perfection! Shredded lettuce, rocket, cress, tiny slivers of cucumber and onion made a lovely refreshing accompaniment to the meal. My husband had the burger, which looked delicious and was accompanied by a different style of garnish, no limp lettuce and soggy tomato here. Definitely recommend.

We were staying in Manorbier for two weeks so went to the pub several times. Food is great and the staff are friendly. We also enjoyed the quiz night, open Mike and live music. This place is a gem.

A lovely pub with super food and fast service. They also checked that everything was ok without leaving it too long. Friendly staff too.

We have had a few meals in The Castle Inn whilst staying in Manorbier. The service and the food is great, with chips to die for. Would recommend this pub to anyone.

We had delicious fish and chips and scampi in the Castle Inn last night. Really fresh and tasty, good beer and very friendly staff.

We camped in manorbier last week and visited the castle inn many times during our stay. It is a cosy friendly pub and the bar staff are friendly and efficient. We liked this pub for many reasons and mainly because it was dog friendly. There is a separate dog dining room with four sets of tables and chairs plus a nice garden with benches and parasols. The food was yummy especially the chips they were the best i have ever tasted! There is plenty on the menu plus they had a pizza oven if you fancied a nice stone baked pizza. It does get busy so i would advise to go early eve if you want to eat. We ate around 6pm and didnt have to wait too long for food. There is quite a nice choice of gin's, beer and cider, we will return again if we head back to manorbier.

Great food and Batman was brill. Outside space excellent and recommend the chicken sandwich. Really nice atmosphere

We went on Saturday night and we booked our meal for 8 o'clock.we had to queue for half a hour for drinks.then queue again for for food order.the meal was served at 10.30 all the meals where awful under cooked and cold plates where dirty told the staff who didn't want to know.the room was badly lighten needed a light off my phone to see the menu.the place is dirty dark and smells of dogs wudnt go near this dump again stay clear

We took a family of 6 plus a dog for dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday evening. The pub was busy with staff being required to constantly serve. We found the staff behind the bar very friendly and the waitress was very polite and attentive. We enjoyed gin and tonics in the garden as the tables in the “dog room” were full. We waited about 20-25 mins for 6 meals of every variety (curry. Lasagne, kids meals and tempura prawns) which were all excellent. We definitely hope to visit again later in the holiday

Ate here twice as we were staying in the village. Ideal for us as meals are served from 5pm and there were lots of corners for us to park our pushchair! The food is superb especially the chips which I think are the best I've ever eaten!!!

On visiting the castle for the first time .was impressed with the look of the inn .we called in just for drinks. On our second visit when paying for our drinks the price had gone up .first it was £7.60 .then the same drinks again was £7.80 that was second time .but did not ? It .which could of been a mistake. But the 3rd time same drinks again was £8.50 .of which i did ? . And was told by the lad behind the bar .who was with a inexperienced bar maid on her fist night .he said to me here is the price list .And obviously did not give a care and no explanation or didn't seem to care . And on a weekend night they couldn't cope with food orders. Or the bar 20 minutes wait at the bar .and on waiting at the bar 2 families did not receive there food after waiting 2 hours .part of there order was given to somebody else's table .can i suggest that YOU put into place a number system of somekind to help you and customers so that they may return to a nice pub .

Really enjoyed our visit! We had a warm welcome and the team who work there were very friendly and genuinely seemed to be enjoying their job. We ordered drinks which were very reasonably priced and also ordered food. The food arrived quickly (especially as it was Sunday and the pub was very busy) More importantly the food was both a generous portion and really tasty. Perfect after a day of walking the coast! Both the pub area and the facilities were super clean. Would recommend a visit and we will definitely be back on our next visit. Thank you!

Lovely cute pub, stopped for an Aspalls cider after a walk around Manorbier Castle. It’s quite dark inside, so take a torch (joking ) but it is quite dim-lit inside. But overall a nice little inn, friendly bar man, horrendous signal (but at least that means we can talk amongst ourselves instead of have our heads in our phones). I would come again.

Four of us walked here from the youth hostel. We first sat in the beer garden and tried some of the local beers. Being a Saturday we asked what time they would start serving food, we were told 6 pm, so just before 6 we went inside found a table and checked out the menu. The food came quickly and was excellent. I ordered the steak pie which I found hard to finish as it was filling on a hot day. Excellent beers, service and food.

Staying nearby so we walked down to the castle,I went in to ask if dogs were allowed in and they said of course and they had a front room with a few tables where you could eat with the pooches. Lovely menu and specials board,we both had the cod and chips it was delicious and the staff friendly will definitely return

Mixed reviews so cautious. But experience was excellent. Welcoming barman. Table booked for 6 people for dinner. We mostly had cod, chips and peas which were cooked to perfection - light and crunchy batter, great chips (and a small rocket salad thrown in). Very casual atmosphere, but that's OK.

We booked a table at 7:30 for 4 adults and 3 young children. Arrived on time and placed our food orders soon after. After an hour of waiting our food was nowhere to be seen. On inquiring and the staff weren’t very apologetic and didn’t seem to care. One of the waitresses did make an effort after the fact to apologise and be as helpful as possible. The food took a further 20 minutes to come out and at this point the kids were virtually asleep and wouldn’t touch their food. We made a complaint and was offered a discount and free ice cream, which we turned down as this wasn’t really appropriate considering how late it was for the kids. We quickly ate our food and packed up to leave. I went to settle the bill and suggested that I’d like the kids meals for free as compensation. I waited for the landlord to come out of the kitchen to discuss the matter. The first thing he said when he came out was “I’m not going to give you a discount”. I explained the situation with the children, at which point something in his head flipped and he turned into the Hulk. At the top of his voice, making sure everyone in the pub heard him - “HOW DARE YOU, IN MY PUB. GET OUT OF MY PUB NOW. DON’T COME BACK HERE” at this point the whole pub was silent and in shock. I respected his wishes and got out of there as quickly as I could in fear of what might happen next, as he followed me to the door continuing to shout. Fortunately the children had already left and didn’t witness this unjustified act of aggression. I’ve never experienced anything like this before and certainly won’t be going back there. Such a shame as on the face of it the pub looks really nice.

Stopped here to sample the cider whilst my Wife and child went to the nearby beach, i spent a very pleasant hour here in the beer garden / terrace at the rear of the pub, there was building work going on at the time, other than that it was well kept and the cider was excellent.

Lovely looking pub but we turned up to eat and the landlord was very unwelcoming, saying 'you'll be lucky' when we said we were hoping to eat. Turned 8 of us away without a sorry at 7.00pm, lost all that business, didn't offer an alternative evening or anything. Bad hospitality skillz in my view

We were in Manorbier for a short stop to have a little look around, felt a bit peckish and fancied a pint so myself, my wife and two friends popped into this inn for a quick bite to eat. What a find! The decor of the pub is unusual shall we say but very welcoming and atmospheric. The staff were extremely helpful, chatty and attentive which further added to the pub's charm. The food however was incredible and without doubt the best 'pub grub' I have had anywhere.

Fantastic little pub with extremely friendly staff! Arrived just on their closing hours for food but they were more than happy to serve us! The food was fabulous! Highly recommended!

We stayed near here over the weekend and went following a recommendation from friends and we weren’t disappointed. The food was freshly cooked and the chips were to die for. The menu is varied and the beer garden was lovely ( the sun helped)

Stayed here for a couple of nights over the Easter weekend as were doing some walking on the coast path. Lovely little independent pub with mix of cosy interior rooms, all of which overflowed with a welcoming and happy atmosphere.

Visited this pub twice whilst staying at Wyndhill Hideaway Manorbier for a week. Great food and atmosphere. Friday night was very busy but a table was still found for us. Fish and chips excellent the best I’ve had. Helpful friendly staff. I would definitely recommend.

We had a really nice meal here - I especially liked the garlic and chilli prawns with crusty bread starter. We didn't have desserts, so can't comment. A lovely old fashioned quirky pub.

Great little local pub in the fabulous village of Manorbier. Ate here several times over the bank holiday weekend, would recommend you book a table or eat before 6.30 during busy holiday periods. Service and food excellent on most occasions. The Greek salad was the only dish that let them down, needing lots more feta cheese to be called a Greek salad! The blanchebait was superb, the fish pie dreamy and the beef chilli the best I’ve ever had! Beer and wine reasonably priced too.

This place has a really good buzz to it now, an interezying menu and a nice relaxed feel.

No record of our pre-booked table. Very slow service, dishes arrived intermittently, with some of us waiting half an hour after others had finished eating. No beer available! One dish inedible / uncooked, had to be sent back (Welsh Rarebit, which was actually a cold sauce on toast). The very young staff were polite enough, but the acting manager gave no good explanation for the above. Never again. The experience marred a nice morning spent walking in beautiful Manorbier.

Staying up the road at Brynteg, the Castle was a recommendation. We had a super meal; home made fish pie, declared delicious and an excellent fish and chips. Great starters too, reasonably priced wine and a well kept pint or three of Sharpe's Atlantic.

A group of us were staying in Manorbier for New Year and visited the pub on 2 nights.

Booked to eat here by our landlady and arrived at 1830 to a packed, noisy happy crowded place. The beer flowed, the waitress kept up a steady flow of food and customers were kept happy by John the barman working flatout in tricky conditions ( card machine dodgy and beer running out). We had a tasty meal, do try the blanchbait they were delicious! Great craik and just how pubs used to be.

We were staying Manorbier for the 2018 Ironman. Great friendly pub with excellent menu and good range of beers ciders and wines. Highly recommend the salt and pepper squid.

Good food, great location with a nice beer garden; dogs allowed in the snug area which makes it interesting whern more than three are gathered!

Would recommend the fish and chips. Or even just the chips..outstanding. Nice selection if spirits. Bar staff friendly however waiting staff could do with customer service training.

I have often visited the Castle Inn to reward myself with lunch and a drink after pounding the coastal path or exploring the beach. The sandwiches are ample and tasty, accompanied by salad and crisps, and a pint of Addlestone's cloudy cider goes down without touching the sides! A sign on the door says dogs are not allowed inside, but on enquiring it emerged that there is a room where they can be accommodated. Bit confusing! Anyway there is a pleasant garden at the rear of the pub so this isn't an issue in good weather. Lunchtime service could be a little quicker, but why be in a hurry when the surroundings are so pleasant!

After a long walk along the coastal paths we stopped for lunch here. Great choice of fresh salads and ploughman’s with choice of sauces. Great skin on style chips and nice local ales. Well worth a visit.

Visited this pub twice during a recent short break. Loved the interior with the fairy lights and the friendly vibe that greeted us. The food we ordered was delicious especially the chips and the portions were very big so great value for money. Staff were very friendly especially John the manager who greeted us warmly. We went there twice and would definitely visit again. Lovely pub I highly recommend giving it a try if you are in the area

We enjoyed a lunch with friends after quad biking nearby and before swimming at Manorbier beach. Lost of seafood on the menu but with alternatives such as Ploughman's. Good selection of children's dishes too.

It's a few years since we last visited The Castle Inn, and it's now under new management. We ate there 3 times over the last week and the food, drinks and service were all fantastic. The pub interior has been revamped but still retains it's quirky, old pub charm.

Good range of beers. Also ciders, as there had been a cider festival the previous week.

A typical “local” but with really good food, really tasty and very good quality. very good children’s menu. We also had the steak & ale pie and the chilli con carne and they were both delicious and “homemade”. I would certainly recommend eating here. We booked a table in advance. It was full when we arrived.

We ate here for 3 nights in a row. Good food: standard, well prepared and filling. Decent beer. Lovely staff.

Nous sommes allés 2 soirs de suite à ce pub durant notre petit séjour à manorbier (Pod au Yha très bien), avec les enfants. Très jolie déco a l’interieur Et bonnes bières. Le repas est très agréable aussi, les entrées crevettes, langoustines et les plats variés : burgers, chilis, pies. Excellentes frites. Une super ambiance et un excellent accueil

Staying local - recommended to visit. World Cup Final on. Stayed for a meal! Absolutely awesome. Chose a mediterrean share option with breads and home made chips - couldn't fault it! Lovely country style pub, dogs and children welcome in parts of pub! We will back for sure seriously 5 stars

Arrived without a booking on a busy Saturday evening, and the landlord very helpfully fitted us in around 8pm. We had an unfortunate wait of around 50 minutes for the meal to arrive, but that was quickly forgotten due to the quality, quantity and value for money.

We recently stayed in the lovely village of Manorbier with a number of friends, as we were attending a wedding at the castle. Unfortunately, a few of us booked a meal at the Castle Inn for our first night. The food was ok, but the evening was spoiled by the Basil Fawlty of Manobier who worked behind the bar, who was a particularly unpleasant elderly man and most unwelcoming. Some of us stayed all week in the village, but after a second visit to the pub and a similar unfriendly experience, we decided not to spend our money in a pub that does not welcome visitors, so travelled further afield instead. Such a shame, as the village cafe and gift shop is fantastic with very friendly staff.

Had a good dinner here. You order and pay inside at the bar, then find seating and they will bring you the food. We were there during the World Cup - so it was fairly wild inside and we headed out to the back patio which is quite large and lovely. The food was very good, as were the drinks.

Local pub to where we were staying friendly staff and dogs allowed in a different room recommend the scampi husband had the curry which was a bit on the mild side but he still enjoyed it on a separate evening I had 2 starter as a main meal the salt and pepper squid was to salty for me but the Blanc bait was amazing . Husband enjoyed a couple of the different beers on offer and prices were reasonable

Friendly pub that is bigger than it looks. Good home cooked food, had a great pie and chips. Prices are reasonable.

On our holiday to Manorbier we visited the village pub one evening. I chose the locally brewed Sea Bass which was a very nice pint along with a beef madras which was absolutely gorgeous. My wife had chicken tikka masala and said it was very tasty also. Our 5 year old son had a great time with us in the beer garden and enjoyed his prawn cocktail and playing with a couple of lovely local children. It was such a nice experience and the locals who were drinking/dining there were so friendly, think we will go again for our last night of holiday the food was that good!

Interesting and varied menu - loved the Moroccan chickpea and sweet potato stew which was beautifully presented. Quirky place with lots of nooks and crannies. Great gin menu!

Very friendly staff. Good reasonable food. According to the menu, they'd run out of popcorn cockles but on asking they still managed to rustle up a good sized portion. Went twice in 2 days.

Great village up with a very friendly welcome and super food and well kept ale. Reserving a table recommended but they’ll do their best to fit you in if ,like us, you just turn up.

A local and welcoming pub. We ate here a couple of evenings while staying locally. It serves large portions of good pub food.

Ate here once and had a couple of drinks too .inside the place is well decorated with a few little rooms to sit in . They allow dogs in one of the rooms . We took ours in while we ate our food one night, and sat out side to have a drink a few times . The places needs a clean up out side as a little tired and outside toilets are clean but freezing cold loo seats aren't good ! . The staff are so friendly and so helpful . The food was proper home cooked pub food . The burger was really tasty, steak and ale pie , proper pie and lasagne was really well cooked . Chips were so good too . All in all a great place . Thank you for making us feel welcome

Arrived at about 6.30 after a long drive from London as a family of four plus a big chocolate Labrador. The pub was packed and clearly a number of food orders had just been placed.

Returned to The Castle Inn for a couple of evening meals whilst stopping very locally. Again made most welcome and had wonderful meals on both visits plus excellent ales, wine and prosecco. We will be back!

We struggled to find something that was open late afternoon and was still serving food but The Castle Inn saved the day! Lovely food, the chips were especially gorgeous!

Umm what can I say no soul, unfriendly and not worth the effort of leaving home for. Dogs allowed but not welcome, no food being served. To be honest couldn't leave fast enough. What a shame a lovely village has such an awful pub!
