The Carnarvon Arms in Ashfield

Having a table for six at a family gathering can be awkward at times, but we were given a cosy table away from the hubbub of the main bar which was perfect. The food arrived quickly and the service was excellent. One word of warning, with the trend towards slimmer burgers (especially really tasty smash burgers), the Ultimate Burger here is a behemoth of a tower, with beef and chicken inside. It's almost too big to eat and could easily be shared by two people. The chicken couldn't be tasted either as the other flavours overwhelmed it. Don't let this put you off, just be aware and enjoy 😊

My meal came out of the microwave burned to the dish but staff changed it without question for me and my wife to eat at separate times, second attempt was nice.

We had a fantastic meal here, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent.

We do come here a few times a year as it is local for our family/friends. We have never been disappointed in the food or service. It was the first time we had been offered the specials menu (perhaps when we had been before they may have been sold out) but it was nice to have something different as I do find that their menu has been very much the same and I like a surprise!! More specials please !!!

Was our first time visiting here, we came on a Sunday around 1 pm. The car park was full, but we luckily got a space as someone left. The restaurant had a lovely cozy atmosphere, and the food was very good; I had the lamb roast, would recommend it. Also came with a refillable veg bowl for the whole table. Service was mostly good, although we did ask for a bottle of water for the table, but it never arrived until we asked for it again. Also, when we finished and wanted to pay, it was difficult to find anyone. Overall, I would certainly visit again and recommend.

Enjoyable lunch at this popular restaurant, car park was full at 13:00 but a spot opened up after 5 mins. Car Park was half empty when we left at 14:15 so consider your timings and always book.

Food excellent. Server brought wrong drink but offered to exchange. Overall very enjoyable.

Went for a 5 mile walk and had dinner here this evening. The food and service were both great. Lovely atmosphere and will be visiting again.

Really lovely meal, better than expected. Most of the mains come with an array of sides – salad, potatoes, chips and veg – which makes for a very big meal if there are just two of you. I opted for the “Triple Take” combo, which was good. The dining area is very spacious, so you don’t feel like you’re on top of another tables – this is particularly unusual for a table of two, which I often find are cramped and placed wherever there’s space. Only criticism is no one came to take my payment at the table – perhaps they don’t do that here. We waited quite a while, then paid on leaving. It would have been good to know if that was the case when we arrived as it was a bit of a waste of time. That being said, the staff were very polite. Lots of parking, admittedly went on a weeknight, but practically parked by the door even though inside it was half full.

Nice pub, Lovely food. Unfortunately for us it’s not a dog friendly pub. We were allowed to sit in the garden room watch was cold and needed updating. ( broken sofa) not ideal when wanting to book a meal. Pub just near Silverhill Woodland and would get more custom if dog friendly inside. We would visit it again for drinks.

I've been here a few times now and they've always hit the mark. There's plenty of choices and options. Would highly recommend a visit.

Good quality food at reasonabley priced. Only slight downside the main room was quite noisy as it was very busy and it was a Monday evening.

Disgusted with Atmosphere, out with family for Sunday Dinner. All we got in the background LOUD MUSIC Whilst trying to have pleasant Sunday afternoon Dinner. Very Very Poor and unprofessional, shameful.

It is a lovely venue and the service from the staff is great but the food was very bland.

Just had a Birthday meal here with my family and I'm so impressed with the service from Jacob, ever so well mannered, polite and accommodating! The food was fantastic, no faults whatsoever, will definitely be returning soon!

Big venue with a promising menu. 4 of us dined, 3 of us had a roast dinner, which was fine and with the right trimmings, one of us had a steak which was very poor. Service was excellent and I can't fault the attention and professionalism. The whole meal and drinks came to a satisfactory £120 but the steak needs some more attention. It tasted very sour, not seasoned and almost like it was cooked on gas and the gas flavour had been absorbed into the meat. Difficult to put a finger on it, but we had no I'll effects afterwards so pretty sure it wasn't turning.

Fantastic service from entering the front door.to leaving after a beautiful tasteful meal. It is very clean and comfortable surroundings.

As a regular minimum wage kinda guy..... This is the place to be. Starting point is a 7. A good carvery is a 7. A good whatever you order is awesome, going up if you liked it.

This establishment gets better each time we go, the latest decor update is amazing. 4 of us went for pre Christmas meal, food and service were excellent, looking forward to our next meal.

Loved it here. Food and service was excellent. Only gripe was a bit quick to deliver the bill even though the pub was not full, there were empty tables and we had been there only 1 hour

Lovely pub and food - worth a visit !

Having been impressed when visiting with a large party last time we booked again for 16 people. All were served quickly by such helpful, friendly staff who unobtrusively checked through the meal that all was okay. The premises are lovely & the food plentiful. I have no negative remarks for this property. We had a thoroughly enjoyable night

I want to give a very special mention to Jacob. We had our small office Christmas dinner on Friday 15th Dec in the little alcove. Even though the whole place was really busy Jacob was outstanding in his happy, helpful and professional manner. He always had a smile on his face and nothing was to much trouble. Jacob answered all the questions we had and was very knowledgeable about the menu. While other staff were quick and efficient, they didn't have the joyful demeanour that Jacob had. Jacob made our experience memorable for all the right reasons and all six of us though so. Jacob is an absolute star. Also i had the fillet steak and it waa cooked to perfection (medium rare), and everyone in our party enjoyed every course of food. It was splendid quality and hot!

Value for money and tasty food, but on a Tuesday lunchtime, 5 of you wouldn't expect the wait just over an hour to receive your order.

Just had an excellent meal at the Carnarvon. Well, 3 meals. Food and service were excellent. They let us know there would be a delay before the main course due to the 85 starters that were being prepared but it actually wasn't that long tbf. Would definitely recommend.

Really nice place and atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Service good and food nice. Reasonable deletions of wines too. Nicely decorated and intimate despite being a large venue. Recommend

Beautiful pub, decorated tastefully in the Christmas spirit. Our service via Daisy was second to non, lovely, polite and easy always there when needed. The food was amazing with plenty of choice in every course. There is plenty of parking and I can Imagine it getting extremely busy particularly with passing trade in summer. I have every intention of eating here again. Thank you for a lovely ladies at lunch occasion.

7 of us were there for dinner time with 3 fussy teenagers and the whole thing was great , the staff were so obliginge and kind I can't remember the young man's full name but his surname was Everest , he was wonderful.

Food was delicious me and my husband ate there 11 nov to celebrate his birthday arrived at 6.45 intended an early meal to leave to meet friends for drinks after however the service was so so slow they prioritised larger groups we waited over 30 minutes for deserts then when we asked for the bill the server came back to our room x3 to ask the larger party questions but still not bringing card machine as requested we then got fed up of waiting and paid at the check in desk left at 9.40 ! Leaving no time for drinks with friends 2,45hr for 2 course meal

Nice pub but not a lot of decent ales on, more lagers and ciders. We didn't have much food when we were there so can't comment much on that but other people's that I saw didn't look too bad.

Great atmosphere, mostly great food especially the mash, tho the broccoli was almost raw. The tiled floor can be dangerously slippery which staff know about, slide on themselves and yet allow to still be used.

Throughly enjoyed, Booking is advisable gets very busy, Me and my partner went for something different "triple take" combo were you choose 3 different dishes, also we had a side of chips, vegetables, salad which is free of charge and refillable! I would highly recommend it to all, Will definitely be returning.

Cheeky pint half way through a nice walk round Silverhill & Skegby Link Line. No food this time but have dined here previously & it's very tasty fare.

We had a fine meal here with the family. Lots to offer. Was extremely shocked to look at the bill at the end to see a pint cost just shy of £7 tho! So beware of this when ordering. Apart from that, the meals we ate were extremely good and the waiting staff were exceptional.

More of an eating pub than a drinking pub but nice selection of beers/ales. If the weather is nice there are lovely outside areas front and rear. Food and portion size were good, as was the service. In fact all the staff were excellent

Went for a birthday, food not all that good room very small.

After waiting over an hour. Our meal arrived. We was very underwhelmed. My tomahawk pork was a small pork chop at best. My Wife had the home baked pie which she enjoyed. But it was the wait and being undersold that disappointed me. Not value for money at all. Not the best quality either.

Wat een prachtige pub! Sfeervol, gezellig, mooi interieur. De menukaart bied voor iedereen iets heerlijks! Het personeel is zeer beleefd. Heerlijk geheten in de pub zelf in een mooie rondzit. Maar ook het restaurantgedeelte ziet erg erg mooi uit! Bij het opnemen van de bestelling wordt ook gevraagd naar eventuele allergiën. Over service gesproken. Prijzen zijn prima.
