Second time to visit and it did not disappoint. Gluten free and coeliac friendly. Food was out of this world. Wish I had space for dessert as they all sounded incredible but the meal filled us up. Great setting and location and staff really friendly. Will defo be back again.

This place was incredible! We ate at several places this week and this was the absolute best! You can't really tell as it's not super posh/modern looking, but the food is incredible! The staff are lovely! Complete reccomend this place and would kove to eat there again and again! The fish is incredible and the dessert menu huge! And yummy!

An incredible eatery with amazing seafood dishes. This was a perfect meal and we're so happy to have stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant this evening. Our daughter shared and had a starter as a main and the desserts were wonderful too. Highly recommended.

Pour 29£ nous avons eu un TRES BEAU homard ENTIER, parfaitement cuit avec un beurre d'ail ... un régal bien plus copieux et bien moins cher que ce qui nous est proposé en France. Un grand merci pour ce moment de régal. Le dessert était dans la lignée de ce qui précédait ... n'hésitez surtout pas, (il faut réserver au moins la veille)

Visited Barmouth, we were looking for somewhere to have evening meal, came across the captains table, it opens at 17.30 we were first in. Food beautiful service great would definitely go back again

We hadn't advance booked, looked at a few establishments but the menu outside this one looked good and there was spare tables inside. We sat down, nice welcome a drinks order first then our food order. My wife had an excellent coffee and I had lager shandy. For food, we had roast beef and roast pork. Both meats were called very well indeed and the veg was obviously very fresh and cooked just right. We had sorbet and waffle with ice cream for dessert. Can't praise the service and food enough. Would be happy to return anytime.

We booked well in advance and really looked forward to trying this restaurant whilst on holiday and celebrating my nans special birthday. The service wasn’t great, the lady taking the orders forgot a drink & we were then waiting a while for it. Didn’t ask us if our meals were ok (they weren’t) & generally didn’t look like they wanted to be there. We overheard the server saying that particular night was quiet, therefore no excuse for poor service. The young girls didn’t know what they were doing & looked blank each time we asked them a question. The lamb shank was tough so wouldn’t recommend. The salmon special was nice. I wouldn’t revisit, service is 60% of the experience in my opinion.

A lovely down to earth restaurant, with a good variety of dishes. All of our choices were excellent. The portions served were also incredibly generous, and the prices were surprisingly modest for meals of such quality. What more could you want? Highly recommended.

A lovely place for dinner. The menu is varied and has lots of choice. We had meals varying from Sunday dinner to Gammon to BBQ Chicken - everyone loved their food and the desserts were delicious too. The service was great, really friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended.

If you’re looking for a bog-standard £12.99 carvery, go elsewhere! The Captain’s Table’s Sunday lunch is elevated above your run-of-the-mill fayre. The meat was fantastic (we had the pork and chicken), and the vegetables incredibly fresh, clearly all high quality produce. Thoroughly recommended for those that appreciate good service and quality over quantity.

For a mainly seafood restaurant, they certainly know how to cook venison. Absolutely delicious!

What a find! Went to the restaurant 3 times during our 5 night stay in Barmouth! Food is excellent and had a very wide range of dishes to choose from. Advise booking if you can as very popular (no surprise!)

We had a fabulous meal the pan fried chicken in creamy white wine sauce I would recommend to anyone. Also the haddock mussels in a creamy sauce also amazing. The staff were helpful and happy

Could not fault this dining experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. My only dilemma was what to order, as everything on the menu appealed to both me and my partner, so much so, that we booked to come back the next evening.

Another little Barmouth gem, we had booked ahead, and the owner confirmed via a lovely text message. We had eaten there several times before, when we used to live locally, and weren't disappointed after an absence of about 4 years, the food was wonderful, all freshly and prepared and cooked by one of the owners. If you keep walking by and think we should try that place, you won't be disappointed, by the quality or the price.

Starter of cod and prawn fishcake was nice, and my partners chrispy chicken pasty parcels was also nice, service from the waitress was very good... However when it came to the Sunday Roast we were very disappointed. Beef was overcooked, tasted like reheated frozen sliced beef and definitely didn't resemble freshly cooked and carved roast beef, Roast potatoes black on one side, vegetables rubbery, Yorkshire straight from Iceland frozen section. Would definitely NOT recommend for a Sunday Roast.

We ordered Mussels which had been boiled to death, almost impossible to get out of shell and was like rubber to eat. The so called creamy sauce was salt water and could only be consumed by soaking in the bread provided. The sea food in the penne has suffered a similar fate as it had been over cooked to the point of being rubbery. An extremely disappointing eating experience

Thought we would try this place while on holiday and the review seemed good . The children's meals were really good but mine and the wife chicken in mushroom and wine sauce was terrible which resulted in me only eating one bite. The chicken was the texture of steak just hard to cut and chew, the sauce was just confusing and tasted very powdery, and you literally got three half new potatoes and a handful of vegetables with meal (it's just potatoes guys should be more ) The place itself felt like you were just in some ones lounge just strange . To be fair to the service they were great and money for the meal came off the bill. Definitely would return to Bournemouth but wouldn't return here

Visited with my father and two children. Not a massive restaurant so I would recommend booking as several people turned away. I had the venison steak in Madeira sauce, which was delicious.

Great cooking and a nice relaxed ambiance in this superb restaurant centrally placed on the high street. The service from the friendly staff made the experience enjoyable. Well recommended.

Great food and good service, booking is recommended. I had a sirloin steak medium. It was one of the best I have ever had. My wife had lamb shank and said it was the best she had ever had. Kids pizza was from frozen but the price was very low. Other (only slightly more expensive) options are probably home made. It was myself my wife and my two tots, two and three year old. This was one of the few places serving food in that weird gap in Barmouth where everywhere closes at 4pm and nowhere opens for food until 6pm. Its only weird if you ha e kids on a routine...which we where! I booked in advance, which I highly recommend. Anyone attempting to come in without a booking were turned away pretty quick! The service was great and the food was amazing. I ordered the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. My wife ordered Lobster, which was on the specials, she LOVED it. I stole a few bites myself and was slightly jealous. Thankfully they had a good choice for children. My two year old had the giant fish goujons, he really wanted mash and the staff was happy to make the switch from chips. My three year old had the spaghetti in a season tomato sauce which she loved! There is a fantastic menu of deserts. I ordered two of the children's toy ice cream, both came as chocolate and the staff again was very happy to change one to vanilla. My wife and I shared the strawberry sundea with was so big our children had to help. Absolutely fantastic and would come again.

I have been to Barmouth very many times but for some reason never tried this fabulous restaurant until this year. However when I return in October and future visits this will be are number one place to eat . The food is top notch with a fabulous choice of fresh fish dishes , meat and veg and dietary requirements also available. Everything well presented and excellent size portions. A good and comprehensive drinks menu also. The staff are very knowledgeable and pleasant. I would especially like to thank the young male waiter on duty. We where very lucky to get a table at short notice so I would encourage you to book in advance. Until next time thank you very much.

Went there with my husband to have a dinner. My starter - duck with a salad was very disappointing. Salad was literally rotten clearly looking as a few days old. When I pointed it out to our waitress she bluntly stated that it is fresh. That was a bit shocking... My mushroom stroganoff was ok, my husband has ordered duck and he couldn't finish it, as it was rather tuff. Overall, quite disappointed about a quality of food and rude attitude of the waitress. We won't be back.

This place is definitely worth a visit the food was amazing, my husband had scallops and he said they were the best he had ever had. The staff were very accomodating as we had not reserved a table, would definitely recommend booking so you don't miss out on this little gem of a place.
