You are less than 20m from the sea, please bear this is nind.... We ordered fish and chips for two, roughly £20 for two. As we waited, a Breaks van arrived.... We were served the most bland, dry , grey, tasteless fish and chips ever ingested by a human being. This van is literally 20m from the sea. It gets its fish from a company called Breaks. A company who wholesale across the UK. Again, this van is 20m from the sea. I could have gotten fresher fish from the center of Birmingham. Utterly bonkers. Try somewhere else. Madness. Utter madness. Save your money, have a sausage roll from Annie's bakery down the road. Utter bonkers, the worst fish and chips in the UK - bar none. Cheers Matt

Visited in 2020, 2021, & June 2023, & made the effort to visit The Cabin every time. We went on 3 different occasions on this visit, had breakfast rolls, a midmorning snack, & fish & chips supper. I also managed to get the last slice of homemade Salted Caramel & Butterscotch cheesecake. YUM YUM! No better food, value & quality in the Highlands. Generous portions, as swift as the queues will allow, as they're understandably very popular, & always friendly. On the NC500 too, & they even sell the T Shirts & merchandise, which is great. The cheesecake is God incarnated in a cake with cheese. I'm going to call my firstborn The Cabin in honor of the cheesecake. The man kind of judge me for asking for fish n'chips for breakfast, but to be honest it was eight in the morning and I ordered it with American coffee and a piece of cheesecake, so fair enough.

Food was awful, it was frozen supermarket bought fish and chips that were refried and cost £7.50. Being the only fish and chips around it’s easy to be dragged in but can see why it wasn’t busy. Ordered a sauce to be told they had no pots so they would just put it on the food, which is fine but got charged £1.50 for a pot when it was actually just a drizzle. Service wasn’t very good either. My partner and I visited here twice on our overnight stop in John O’Groats and it was the best decision we’ve made so far on the trip! Our first taste of the menu was for tea last night after a long trip up from Inverness. The BEST chips we’ve had had in a while and the lasagna was amazing. Could tell it was homemade and it was much needed when the rain started pouring and to fuel us for the trek to Duncansby stack that night. We enjoyed tea so much that we decided to stop off for breakfast this morning. I didn’t think anything could beat one of my partners bacon sandwiches we’ve had whilst camping but this has grabbed first prize ( sorry paul)The couple were so nice aswell and so cheery. Had a stop here for lunch while visiting John O'Groats. Fish and chips, chicken sandwich, cheesecake. It was nice outside so we sat at one of the benches. Nice experience and good views - recommend a stop for a lunch here to have the whole John O'Groats experience.

We came to John ogroats for a family holiday and stayed at the local campsite. After looking on TripAdvisor for good food places to eat we decided to take a walk to the cabin and am glad we did, I ordered fish and chips for me 2 cheese burgers for the kids and a lasagna and chips for my husband, the kids said that was the best burger they have every had and our food was delicious, we went back the following night as the kids wanted burgers again and we had Tracey's homemade macaroni cheese with chips and I have to say it's the best I have every had the chips where spectacular and very crispy, we also had Tracey's homemade cheesecake which was delicious I really can not complain about any of the food we had and the customer service we excellent we will definitely be back next year

We ended our 3rd night on the North Coast 500 with a meal to die for fish and chips for Mr W and mac cheese and chips for me. We totally wolfed the food down back in our motor Home after spending a good few minutes in deep conversation with the amazing owner of The Cabin. Seriously good food, great conversation and perfect location

Upon arrival from my trip up from Inverness my first order of business was to look for somewhere to get a coffee and something for lunch, my travelling companion suggested the cabin @ John O’Groats, I must admit I was initially sceptical as as the title suggests it is a cabin, however I followed his lead ordering a coffee and a cheese burger and chips, best decision I could have made, the proprietors provide a most warm welcome and are very open, friendly and chatty throughout your visit which means you feel at ease while they cook your food! the cheese burger was cooked to perfection and very tasty and the chips were very crispy and the best I have had anywhere in the highlands, it was so good I made a return visit the following day whilst up again and again the same high standards ! I will not hesitate to visit again even if a detour is required while on business or with the family I look forward to trying other menu items !

This is a great place to stop before boarding your ferry to Orkney. It's a Mom & Pop venture and entertaining to listen to the couple bicker a bit as they serve you. The haggis sandwich was very good and hit the spot.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
