The Bulls Head is always our go to place for Sunday lunch. This week was very disappointing. We ordered two roast beefs, one fish and chips and one steak and ale pie. The roast beef, was awful, it was so tough it couldn't cut, and was hard to swollow. The veg that you get with it was a dish of cabbage with a few peas added in it. Normally you would get a selection of veg, broccoli, peas, cabbage. All in all the roast dinner was a disappointment. We were offered extra beef, but it was still the same too tough, so that was left as well. We were offered two free desserts, and the not charged for the beef just the veg we ate, but to be honest it was a disappointing meal, as it is always one we usually look forward to.

As soon as we got there we were ignored waiting to be checked in to the restaurant. We then sat down and while waiting for my son wasn’t asked if we wanted a drink for ages. The service was extremely slow considering the restaurant wasn’t full. The cauliflower cheese was forgotten as was a glass of wine. We had those deducted off of the bill. We didn’t bother with desert as we had been there for some time. Extremely disappointing as it was Mother’s Day

All of the service that these guys laid on was superb - we stayed one night, had breakfast then had the family for coffee and pastries - then after the funeral we had lunch together ... staff were incredibly helpful and the food was excellent. The decor. and furniture really needs a major reburb. - its really quite tired right now - apart from that we were treated really well.

Wonderful setting and good friendly service but unfortunately the afternoon tea was disappointing. I booked it after a couple of friends had recommended it but the scones were rock hard and the cakes were very dry. Two years later, and a recent return visit to the Bull’s Head by my husband and I was made just as enjoyable as the previous one , thanks to the wonderful staff and excellent standard of accommodation the hotel offers to guests. We stayed four nights & had lovely breakfasts and evening meals from menus offering a good choice of dishes , served by friendly and helpful staff. A special mention goes to Lavinia in the hotel restaurant, who was so friendly and welcoming and made our dining experiences even more enjoyable. The reception staff are so pleasant and always willing to help you with any queries you may have… nothing is too much trouble for them. Whenever we are in the area, The Bull’s Head will , without a doubt, be our first choice hotel. We look forward to our next return visit!

Lovely place. Atmosphere good, waitresses friendly, but service was poor. Waited an hour, after our starters, to receive our mains. Other customers who came after us got served before us. When questioned we were told it was very busy, busier than was anticipated. Surely if that was the case customers should have been told on arrival.

We arrived earlier than our booked time and the staff accommodated us and gave us a table in the Conservatory that we had originally requested! Waitress was lovely and very helpful I had a roast beef dinner which was lovely, however the meat had a lot of fat on it which I did mention at the end of the meal. They offered us a coffee which we declined as we had had a long day and wanted to get home When the bill came they took off the 2 half pints of Lime and Sodas! The waitress said we should’ve had champagne!😅 Overall a good visit but do think they could’ve reduced the bill a little bit more Won’t stop me going though!

We went here last night for my nans birthday. This got off badly with a 45 min wait for our starters. Not a waitress in sight. Went to find them and they was all laughing around a bowl of chips out the back. When I questioned why our food was taking so long I was told the kitchens busy with orders from the pub. Very rude young lady clearly incompetent at her job. Firstly don’t have a restaurant if you can’t cope with both. A restaurant by the way that was not even half full. When our starters did arrive one had been forgotten and the soup was stone cold in a red hot bowl that had obviously been in the microwave. After another long wait for mains the service improved slightly as we had complained so we were now frequently being asked if we would like drinks. However the mains were just as dire. Steaks and burgers that were raw in the middle when both asked for well done. Again the food was barely warm. And two steak pies that needed a hammer and chisel to get through the inedible hard pastry. We should’ve known at this point not to bother with desserts. But we ordered anyway. The apple and fig crumble looked like baby food. And the sticky toffee pudding was a dry microwaved sponge with no toffee sauce so dry as old boots. We also ordered two espresso martinis which we were told wouldn’t be long as they had to pop out and get the ingredients. Mix in filthy rotten toilets and a £70 per head bill. We will never be back. Having been frequent customers of the bull for years we had infact tried to book the function room for our grandfathers wake next week. After last nights performance my nan is so relieved you was fully booked for this event as she would have been petrified to what turn out it was going to be. We’re never a family to complain in resteraunts or leave a review to be honest. But this was inexcusable. Don’t waste your time and money!

Lovely atmosphere although the music wasn't Christmassy as they didn't know how to change the play list. The decor is beautiful albeit a tad grubby. Needs a refurb soon I think. After a mix up with our booking due to the website being so bad we were able to have the Christmas lunch that we were expecting thanks to the helpful lady on reception. The Christmas ‘feast’ was underwhelming though. The winter salad was inedible. Tough chard stalks and no dressing. The turkey main was incredibly salty and came with just 4 Brussels sprouts as the veg. We asked for cranberry sauce only to be told that they had run out the previous day! That is pretty unacceptable when there is a Sainsbury’s up the road. We won’t be returning!

If you are expecting a nice quiet meal chatting to friends, don’t go on a Saturday evening if tonight is anything to go by. Super loud, kids running about, the noise was really overwhelming. Shame as it’s a nice place. Food however seemed expensive, a chicken and bacon salad was £19.50. One of us had a chicken supreme at £23 and it was never worth £23 the size of it. (Photo attached, a chicken leg at best). Haddock was huge though and the food was fine. Wouldn’t be in a rush to go back though because of the noise. We could just have picked an off day though, but we really did keep having to speak close to each other and repeat ourselves because of the noise. No I’m not old and in my 70s and deaf either 🤪

George handled our booking. We opted for afternoon tea for 20 guests after the funeral. We had a lovely intimate room with a fully staffed bar, and the option to sit in the pretty garden if we wished. George catered for everything, sandwiches and cakes, tea & coffee on tap. It was ideal for our small family & friends. We also stayed overnight in room 16. It was a hot day & we needed the air conditioning on. The duvet was a high tog & we needed the air conditioning on during the night. Unfortunately it was too noisy, lots of gurgling & it kept us awake, so we didn’t sleep well. Also the wiring was exposed, which wasn’t very reassuring. We reported it in the morning to reception. Apart from that, it was a lovely decorated, clean, comfortable room with a walk in shower. The breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice, although it really did take far too long to arrive. There was only one girl on duty to take our orders. Having said that, I would go back & stay again.

Have eaten many times at the Bull's Head, so it was a pleasure to have another opportunity. As always, the food (and drink), service and atmosphere were impeccable. Despite visiting at 3pm on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, the process of getting seated and served was quick and easy. The serving staff here are uniformly excellent - friendly, informative, and very efficient. The warning on the menu that "at busy times your food might be an hour" was ominous but on this occasion unwarranted, even though the restaurant was certainly busy. My "Scotch Bonnet" prawn cocktail starter was fine - a particularly delicious salad base although I would have preferred a little less salad and rather more prawns. I can't honestly say I thought the Marie Rose sauce was any zingier than other venues, but still very good. I chose the steak & ale pie which is outstanding: lots of tender steak chunks in a rich ale gravy, surrounded by perfect shortcrust pastry. Very tasty vegetable accompaniments. I have an intolerance to peas and the serving staff were very helpful in ensuring my meal was served without this standard item. I made the mistake of ordering an extra side of roast potatoes. There's really no need - the meal comes with a generous portion - but I did eat (most of) them. This unfortunately meant I wasn't able to sample the desserts on this visit. One of the highlights of visiting the Bull's Head is that they are one of very few establishments to offer top quality zero alcohol beers. As ever, the Erdinger was cold, tasty and refreshing. The one tiny fly in the appointment? As usual, parking was a nightmare, but what can they do when they have such a fine venue on a lovely autumn day? Will definitely be back.

I had the Raspberry Bakewell for dessert, delicious. To drink we had a bottle of Jealousy Pinot Noir which was really good, if a little pricey. We will definitely return, the quality of food was great and though not cheap was reasonable value for the quality.

We visited as a group of four, the whole experience was good however it’s just a shame that the place charges extortionate amounts for drinks. £7 for a beer/cider, really disappointing given it’s not in central London. The food is also very expensive for what it is, one course and a bottle of house wine between 4 cost nearly £40 a head.

Came here for a birthday meal with a party of 9, staff were very efficient and accommodating, food was absolutely lovely and short waiting time and staff were attentive throughout the evening to ask if we needed more drinks, teas, coffees etc! Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

Family meal to celebrate two birthdays. Nice table for 6 allocated, one for wheelchair. Warm welcome, Claudia was fantastic, friendly, efficient, really looked after the table for drinks, took orders and checked in. Really great service, faultless, food exceptional, pies and veg hot, roast hot and delicious, fish and chips excellent. Great food and service and will come back again.

We hired the ballroom at the Bull’s Head in Chislehurst for my Dad’s wake. We met with George beforehand who helped us with planning - nothing was too much bother. On the day everyone said what a beautiful room it was and how lovely the food was. The two girls serving at the bar were so friendly and professional and made it a great afternoon. Thank you to all involved and would recommend to anyone.

Having visited previously for a lunch, we were looking forward to a great family celebration here. It was very poor. Service very slow, staff not bothered. Meals brought out in dribs and drabs one at a time. Long waits in between. Totally spoilt the day....

Just so happened to have found this gem of a place by accident and couldn't be happier that we did. The pub garden is outstanding. We had their plant based burgers and they are worthy of a standing ovation. So no matter who you bring, there's something for everyone. We'll certainly be back in the future.

We live locally so visit quite often to the bar or restaurant. I have to say not worth the money in the restaurant. We visited on Saturday night. The food is 3 star and the service is so flaky with very inexperienced staff. Young staff who have no idea how to treat customers or serve you. I didn't leave a tip as we were pretty much ignored the whole time we were there. I had to wave about 3 times to get someones attention. I might visit the bar again for a beer, but wouldn't go back to the restaurant again.
