I can’t fault the Bulls Head on their level of customer service, ambiance or friendliness however because there are two kitchens that aren’t in communication with one another you may like us get a pizza if ordered half an hour before your other main meals so be prepared for this. Plus as they are so popular they squash in as many covers as possible, which will effect the quality of your meal. I’d order a popular choice off the menu, don’t order the veggie options as a lack of love goes into these limited options, which was what happened in my case. The staff however were most apologetic and did deduct it off the bill and offered a replacement but when you’re already half an hour behind the rest of your table and you’re given a time you have to vacate it’s not an option you can go with I’m afraid. Would I give it another go yes, because the staff were great. But I’d follow my own advice.

Visited with my other half, there was a lovely wide selection of drinks, especially wine and gins. The cocktails were a little too expensive for my liking however the whole place is a little pricey. We enjoyed a homemade pizza each and a garlic bread to share, the food was incredible. I mean it was amazing! The pizza was the best pizza I have ever had I really recommend. We sat outside in the garden room which had such a pretty atheistic. The whole place is gorgeously decorated and is really good for a one of special occasion. Incredible food, incredible place.

Walking through to get upstairs you realise that this is no ordinary establishment. When you understand that the owners were London Lawyers you realise the attention to detail and fine consideration for every nook and cranny. The Tapas menu has something for everyone to try and the old fashioned lemonade with lemon sorbet and a hint of mint gave me the same excitement as a child having a knickerbocker glory for the first time!I live in Manchester and I will defiantly be visiting again with my family.

So much choice! I went for lots of small sticks and sides (tapas style!) while my husband went for the large BBQ chicken stick. Finished it off with the chocolate orange dessert (defeated the 2 of us sharing it!). Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was friendly and efficient but relaxed. Highly recommend this place. Thanks to the team there, for an excellent meal and an evening we'll remember.

Ate mid-week for a birthday party (3 kids 5 adults). All nice and pleasant service, food choices were interesting and prepared well. We felt it was definitely value for money. Taking off one star because the service (although very pleasant) was slow (about 1 hour from arrival before any food arrived, had to ask for bill, etc) and the upstairs room got very warm and humid (someone else mentioned this but it was quite uncomfortable). Probably better when its not raining and they can open the doors. Definitely worth a visit most of us said we would go back.

Stop what you are doing, whether it's building a brick wall, delivering a baby or having sky diving lessons, and get yourself down to the Bulls Head, Repton. This is a true culinary extravaganza at a modest price, add a sprinkling of super friendly staff, and a great pint of Blue Moon craft beer, and you seriously would be stupid to go anywhere else. It was our wedding anniversary and we booked a table for 2 (obviously) & ordered the chicken teriyaki hanging skewer thingy, with a choice of 2 sides all for a very reasonable price. You've seen Homer Simpson sorta drool and make that funny noise, well that's kinda what you see customers doing when they carry your food through. And the staf, wow finally a place who aren't scared to strike a conversation, take pictures for you and offer enough assistance, without being pushy. And to top our experience off, a gift desert for our anniversary, laid out to look amazing. If you are celebrating something, do it with confidence, do it here, you won't be dissappointed. From the quaint bar, to comfy restaurant or the secret sun terrace, and the great staff. Nuff said. Cheers Bulls head, our visit on the 26th July couldn't of been any better x

Eating in at Bulls Head difficult if inhouse app not used, which is a problem for infrequent & computer illiterate people like myself. Cannot run a tab with a card behind the bar. Tables rather close together allowing adjacent loud conversation spoiling own table's quieter conversation. Other than that interesting & extensive menu giving value for money. Pizza excellent with takeaway option utilised. Insufficient parking causing overflow onto High Street which then hinders locals from accessing their properties.

They are always very busy and it seems to be that there is never enough staff on, or knowledgeable either. I would go here for pizza but never for a special occasion

I met a friend for a Tuesday night tea date, when we first arrived we headed to the main bar which was rammed so went to find a table and were seated in the secret garden area. The staff were very helpful and attentive, we shared a Camembert to start which was amazing, it was properly baked with a crispy skin which I had never had before. We shared a pizza which was very tasty but a bit stingy on the toppings which is reflected on the very good score but excellent. Very reasonably priced aswell!

Well after arriving and finding that the table i had booked online had not been booked after all, they did manage to fit us in a different room. My partner opted for the fish and chips which was reccomended to him and i had a burger. Not alot of choice on the menu though. My partners fish came in what looked like a box that you would store vegetables in, the fish looked as though it had been cooked about 5 times over and not much fish on it. You get much fish at Georges fish bar. Don't think we will be rushing back to this place sorry.

I visited with my partner one evening. He had the steak, which he said was small and cold with a meagre amount of chips.I had the pie and mash. The pie was lovely, however the mash had the taste and texture of instant, as it was bland and very dry. It was not freshly made mash without butter or seasoning, as this is how I eat it at home, so I certainly know the difference.

We arrived after booking our table although we were not impressed when we learnt we were not on the books. However, after about 5 minutes they managed to squeeze us in and even moved us to a better table later on in the evening so we did not have to rush our meals. The lovely Jamie, our waiter for the night, was always happy to serve us and helped us take away a doggy bag. The steaks were not the best, and the waitress didn't even know what she was on about as she called it a 'sterling' not a 'sirloin'. Overall, the experience was pleasant and will still definitely return and will treat this as a one off as we have never had any problems before.

We ate in the garden room which is lovely, a great setting, but we were pressed up against the bar and had waiting staff stood by us most of the time. The food was okay, but I object to the fact you have two kitchens that food comes differently from, I understand you’re notified of this, but why bother, you’re not eating together. There’s no coordination at all, so you’re eating half an hour apart from each other. The Calzone was undercooked, which was a shame. The service was sloppy too, having to ask three times for a bill is stupid, this place needs to tighten up its act, it’s fallen into the trap popular places do, plenty of punters so low standards become acceptable because everyone’s too busy to change.

9 of us pre booked for my twin daughters 20th Birthday family meal, the celebration was not mentioned at the time of booking. Although 6pm ish on a Friday it was very busy indeed. Nice covered extension at the back with a great visual ambience, a small courtyard on the way and the pub near the entrance looked really nice and cosy and traditional. Great service with plenty of staff, food was excellent incl. the yakitori stick starters. The pizzas were awesome full of flavour and very large, and I think reasonably priced. There was an excessive wait between pizza orders and a few mains {we knew and were warned they cannot be synchronised due to different kitchens} and an apology and bit of a refund was greatly accepted. My pizza was the best I have ever had, ever - although I have never been to Italy. The reason for our meal was revealed when asked and unexpectedly my daughters were presented with a Happy Birthday free pudding at the end - totally a nice surprise! Lots of draught beers and lagers to choose from, car park a good size but was full and parking busy nearby. A bit of a victim of its own success perhaps. I have made many reviews this is the first time I have submitted a picture.Well done to all the staff and chefs - we will return.

The food was actually not too bad, I had porchetta. Also had white wine spritzer but couldn’t taste much wine in it. Doubt I would go back. If I didn’t have a gluten problem there seemed to be lots of good options and it looked quite good. So I’ve given it a so so score.

Great setting, brilliant team (Darren was our waiter and he was so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, great with the kids and just awesome), great value for money too and loads of very clever touches that all build together to a really well thought and well delivered experience. We spend a couple of weeks staying with family in Italy each year and this is the most authentic pizza I’ve had outside of Italy. We also had big time food envy watching the porchetta be delivered to another table and a lots of yakitori sticks and hanging kebabs. If only I had 3 stomachs or lived closer (we’re about 2hrs away!) although we did manage a choccy-woccy-hoo-har which was amazing. If ever heading up North we will definitely make a detour and will pray to the food gods that ones opened up down south sometime!

Feel very disappointed to write his review, we raised our concerns at the time. However feel it wasn’t taken seriously. We booked early evening as we didn’t want a late meal. When we arrived the bar was packed, the young lady at the bar (1 of 7/8) behind the bar looked for our booking, which I had to point out where we were. Explained the table hadn’t been vacated and we could get drinks first. We ordered standard drinks, I asked for a Pimms and ginger, to which she struggled to comprehend and find on the till. Was told this would have to made on the cocktail bar and drought down. Couldn’t add drinks to the table as someone was on it. I waited 10 minutes for my pimms, and had to ask twice for it it. To the watch her make it herself. I then asked if the table was ready, she had to take the name again, suggested we just go up and found out ourselves. My annoyance other than the farce that was getting a drink was the fact she called me “darlin” every time.Up stairs the table wasn’t quite ready, we had to wait for that to be cleared and cleaned, a full 15 minutes after it was booked. A young lady came to take our orders, calling us “guys” it’s not TGI fridays, good evening would of sufficed. I ordered first, a burger, then my mum. She then came back to me to tell me there were no burgers (why were we not told this when we sat down). Not a problem as I usually have a back up. In the past when we have been, there has been complimentary bread, not this time. Although a large party behind us did. Out mains started to arrive around 7.40pm, the fish and chips were hot and the stroganoff was too. My husbands chips however were cold and had to be sent back and I was still waiting for my pizza. At 7.50 I was ready to cancel my meal and watch everyone else eat as no one informed us that there maybe a wait for pizza. Another table had to ask for theirs. We informed Chris we weren’t happy and would like to speak to a manager, which he said he was and that the pub was busy. We ate and my husband went to sort the bill, at this point Chris should of had an offer ready for him but was still going on about being busy, The Bulls head has always been busy. A discount was offered and accepted. What should of happened when we were seated by Chris, was told they were very busy this evening and there maybe a wait and there is demand for the pizzas. It left a sour taste in our mouths, having had such lovely meals for our wedding anniversary and my husbands 40th birthday last year. And I was so looking forward to the gelato

Unfortunately I have no choice but to take to Trip Advisor to discuss how awful our recent meal at the Bulls Head was. I directly contacted management 3 weeks ago now but I have been ignored. I’ve previously been to the Bulls Head on many occasions and always been impressed on every visit. I had booked this evening to take my girlfriend out for our first valentine celebrations together. The restaurant is around a half an hour drive from home so we made the effort. We ordered Camembert to start - a favourite of ours. I’ve had the Camembert every time I visit so I knew what to expect. I was slightly alarmed when it got to the table - the bread was burnt and the Camembert was really congealed - similar to the texture of cottage cheese or gone-off yogurt. We had to send this back because it absolutely wasn’t up to standard. We were presented with a 2nd Camembert but this was frustratingly exactly the same - burnt bread and thick, congealed cheese. The consistency was jelly-like...not like the smooth and gooey type I have had before. At this point, we had to send the food back again. We were offered something else but chose to wait for our main - we were worried that our main was already cooking so didn’t want this to burn. I was quite disappointed when we had to wait a further 45 minutes for our main course. During this time, I noticed that another table had sent their food back due to it being burnt. I wonder whether the chef had the oven turned too high and food was being rushed out? I was confused. When our main arrived...we were quite fed up. I had the cauliflower meatballs and my partner ordered rump steak. My food was burnt and very bland - it lacked salt and spice. My partner’s food was also burnt - her steak was medium to well rather than medium rare as requested. Her chips were also hard and very oily - again, this led us to question whether food was being rushed out. Our waiter asked us how our food was - as my partner responded to say she was just trying it - the waiter walked away...I presume he must have misheard her. I also hadn’t been given opportunity to give my feedback - I was about to tell him that the meal was substandard. Both my partner and I left over half of our food. We couldn’t eat it. This is not in our character and we always clear our plates. We requested the bill and declined offers of desserts - we wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Our bill came to £44.00 - we promptly paid this and left. I’m absolutely gutted really that we have had this experience. When we look back on our first valentines together we will always remember the poor experience we had here. The food was absolutely APPALLING. I doubt I would ever return. Left a very sour taste in our mouths. EMBARRASSING for the Bulls Head as a brand. Poor shocking quality. It never used to be like this.Save yourselves the money and go somewhere else.

Visited a few times recently and I cannot fault both the atmosphere and the food, both are always of a high standard. The garden room is stunning and just an awesome place to eat. When you are in the garden room though, be prepared to wait a while for your drinks, it's the only thing they don't get right, it's such a shame as it's hard to find fault with anything else, but drinks take an age to get to you, so order well before you need a refill.

Was recommended this pub for lunch by my office manager.Fantastic welcome from Euean the young lad who was a great host.We booked the Garden room, wow, lovely tranquil atmosphere with tress, plants, twinkly lights etc.Euean advised us that should we opt for mains from different menus ie, one from steak, burgers etc and the other from the pizza menus, then it’s likely meals will be served ten minutes apart due to the pizza cooking quicker, so be prepared to wait!We both opted for the amazing chicken piri burger with Edam bacon and real chips with a side of coleslaw. The food was out of this world! The chicken was well seasoned/ spiced, succulent, tender, lots of cheese and bacon..soooo tasty. I had a pint of peroni, not bad although a little watery however, the wide’s New Zealand Sauvignon Blank Dashwood went down well. So, dessert. We shared an great crime brûlée...out of this world. At £42 great value and defo going back, with family.

Table booked for 4.15 pm ,waited 1.15 minutes for food to arrive. Our 2 friends received their food & our food arrived when they had finished. When it did arrive it was literally stone cold. The manager was nice & asked if we would like a fresh meal,we opted for that & was told it would take about 15 minutes to prepare. 30 minutes later the manager came back to us to tell us we would have to wait a little longer.we eventually received our food almost 50 minutes from the 're order. The manager did take the cost of the mains & desserts for all of our party off the bill. The service was absolutely terrible, glasses were not removed from the table until we asked staff to do so.Also had to ask for cutlery to eat our main course with.As we were eating dessert & drinking coffee the young waitress was taking our plates away & then brought us the bill while we were still eating. Not impressed at all .So from arriving having booked our table at 4.14pm & just wanting to spend a couple of hours there we left at 7.51pm immediately ater finishing our food.We will not be returning here again.we choose the place going on the positive reviews by friends & the online reviews.A very negative experience for all of our party.

We came home a bit disappointed after our recent visit. Food was good but service was not great- was an hour before we even ordered any food and when the food arrived it was just dumped on the table and we didn’t even get a ‘enjoy your meal’ or asked if we wanted sauces. Everything after that was just even slower. We used to come here all the time and the service was always brilliant but just felt a bit irritated after this. I hope this was just a one off!

As a regular, calling in at least once a week, we were very disappointed with today's visit. The welcome from the young man behind the bar was good, however, the pizza we ordered and the service was not up to scratch. We ordered pizza which when delivered to the table was nowhere near as good as the previous ones we have eaten here with a vastly reduced topping. There had obviously been no morning prep prior to opening as we then had to wait for cutlery, then ask for napkins, we had no condiments and when querying why we had been given a steak knife to cut the pizza were told that the pizza cutters were up stairs and had to be washed.By the time we started to eat the pizza was cold...Service was poor during our visit with pizzas waiting to be served sitting on the pass a long time. Not up to the usually good service and food quality. Please get it right guys....

On arrival we were unsure where to go or who to ask about our table, the staff all were busy so we waited at the bar and asked there. We had to wait a short while for our table but not to long. When we got to our table we were stunned by how beautiful the garden room was and had balloons on our table as it was one of our party’s birthday. The waitress who served us was very nice, but seemed busy. We waited around an hour for our food, without an apology, whilst watching people who turned up after us getting there food first. I had the Cajun chicken and Brie burger, no Brie on the burger, just what seemed like Philadelphia with herbs in. I could not eat it. Chips however were very nice. The birthday girl found a hair in her food, they didn’t offer to replace this, just my chicken burger and the food with the hair taken off the bill. Such a beautiful place with a nice atmosphere just a shame they over book and the food is not up to scratch.

Me and my husband have been here a few times and always raved about it. So it was a lovely surprise when he booked a table for my 30th birthday and our family came up from Wolverhampton for it. Unfortunately for some reason the booking wasn't showing on the system and was apparently slotted in for the next day. My husband hadn't any signal to bring up the email confirmation so we couldn't argue it. They sent us to get a drink while they tried to make space for us, which they couldn't as they were fully booked. So they turned away a table of 8, for a 30th birthday, for people who had travelled an hour, for an error on their system. Very very unimpressed and ruined the whole day.

Entering the restaurant, they layout of downstairs is lovely, but we always book the upsatairs room, it’s a better place to eat.The meat sticks are so tasty, and you can choose 2 sides to have with this...the onion rings are perfect! Everything on the menu is priced a little more than your average place, but this is more than average food! The drink is lovely and refreshing. Not my cup of tea but I get told the lemonade with sorbet is lovely and sweet! Only downside is when we last went (party of 5) 3 of the plates of food came out stone cold! But we made the complaint and they were all replaced, plus 50% off the bull, I mean bill! ;) This goes to show that they care for their food. We will always keep going.10/10!!

Myself and my boyfriend went for my birthday meal. It was one of the best meals I’ve had for a very long time, did not feel like a pub at all. The garden room was stunning! Very romantic. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The cocktails were decently priced for the look and alcohol volume. (I had the banana colada and it was beautiful) We had one of the steak sticks with fries and halloumi fries which was all cooked well and plenty of them. Also the Paris pizza. Cooked well and huge, I struggled to finish it. Overall, very impressive. I’ll be returning and recommending. We returned a couple of months later. Staff and setting was still great. The pizza I had was really not good - but to the flavours. The steak was over cooked. The cocktail had no liquid to it, only ice. Same with the mocktails. A little disappointing in comparison to our first visit

A lovely pub with great staff, and very busy, but a nightmare to park anywhere......This is the third time in as many years that we've eaten here as a group of friends. Whilst some have been happy, others have not for various reasons so I very much doubt we'll return again as a group. The group chose to eat off both the main menu and the pizza menu, there were no complaints about the pizzas (except possibly the excessive amount of rocket atop the Bulls Head Special), whilst the chips that came with the battered fish were cold and soggy so were left uneaten (same as in previous visits by others in the group), the beef in the braised beef was chewy and was returned to the kitchen, and finally the aubergine in the tagine had a "funny" bitter taste. We were not charged for the braised beef that was returned, and that member of our group decided not to choose another option. Perhaps other members should also have returned theirs too, but some people do not like to, and they tend vote with their feet.I can see why it is so popular and gets very busy, but I'm pleased I'm not a neighbour as parking is a nightmare all around. So please allow time to find somewhere to park and walk back to this pub.

Six of us went on a very busy Saturday evening. The bar and outside area was very overcrowded with no seats available and queues to the bar. The courtyard area was very pretty, but by default was the smoking area. For our meal we were in the garden room away from the crowds with a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were very helpful when taking our order. However, the menu was a little confusing, not having starters and the mains clearly listed. There was a good selection of yakatori sticks on offer, but when the waiter said they had over 100 beers, this just seemed a little excessive. My advice would be to simplify the menus to improve the quality. When the food arrived it was average, I had the tomato Bruschetta to start which should have been served with sundried tomatoes as well as fresh tomatoes. The main course I have the fillet steak stick with funky fries and coleslaw. The funky fries were just batter bits in a bowl. The coleslaw was the best bit in the dish. My partner had a pork dish which was very dry with the same batter bits that were meant to be chips. The price did not reflect the quality of the food and the service was standard. For any occasion I wouldn't return for a meal, there are better restaurants and pubs nearby that are more value for money.

We visited for a family celebration (8 adults and 1 toddler). We ate in the main restaurant upstairs which was as hot as a sauna. The table was dirty and remnants of the previous diners dinners remained under the table. Service was incredibly slow, drinks took an age to arrive and there were overly long waits between courses. We had a few mistakes with the dishes and missing items, some which were rectified (after a long wait) and some which never turned up. We were still charged despite this. 3 of us ate fillet steak, which was okay at the time. All 3 were cooked medium, despite 2 being ordered medium-rare. Upon returning home the 3 diners who’d had the fillet steak all suffered symptoms of food poisoning. Other diners were fine. We’ve visited the Bulls Head frequently over the past decade. This has been by far the worst experience. I emailed the manager about our experience and received no response. Disappointing experience for a £350 food and drink bill. Will not be returning.

Staff were running around like headless chickens, we waited just over half an hour for drinks - the lack of good management was plain to see. There are plenty of good pubs in the area - I just wish we had gone elsewhere. This place transformed pub dining in South Derbyshire when it first opened and the food itself remains good, but the service on our last two visits has been friendly but painfully slow and inept. Yesterday we were there for two and a half hours in total for a casual late afternoon meal with visiting relatives. The initial welcome was all good and we placed our drinks order. Our host came back (without drinks) and we ordered our food. We then waited 20 minutes for our initial drinks to arrive. We had been there for an hour when the first food arrived, my son’s starter. After that we ordered a second round of drinks, and waited. Half an hour after the starter the first pizza arrived, for my son again. A further 10 minutes and the other two pizzas came. My son had finished his pizza. We were promised the drinks and the other meals were coming. The other three meals arrived eventually, but no drinks. We had been there for an hour and a half at this point. The first and last main meals were 20 minutes apart. I know they say pizzas and other meals can’t be co-ordinated because they come from different kitchens, but this is ridiculous. Other restaurants can do it, I think the Bulls Head needs to think again on this point - 5 minutes OK, but 20 minutes is a joke. We finished our meals, and as I said the food quality was good, but since the second round of drinks never came we cancelled them. Another different host came along to offer desert menus and we joked about the drinks order. He brought the desert menus and proudly announced we would indeed get our second round of drinks (we had been there 2 hours by now) as a gesture of goodwill. Shortly after that he appeared with drinks, unfortunately they were not the ones we had ordered. It felt like the Fawlty Towers episode when Basil finally reveals the duck to discover it’s not duck. When it came to the bill a third host volunteered to remove the cost of the first and only round of drinks, which was kind but overall the speed of service was woeful and as I said at the start this is the second recent visit where we have had slow service and mislaid orders, so I don’t think we will risk a third.

This is probably the 15th time we’ve been to the bulls head, so that makes it the 15th meal that we’ve loved!! We had a table booked for 14 people to celebrate one of our friends getting a new job, and as usual a couple of our party turned up late, this wasn’t an issue and at no point during the night did we feel rushed or pressured to free up the table for other customers We all opted to go straight to mains with us all picking a mixture of dishes(pizza, burgers, fish and open sandwiches) as we are all greedy and needy the food always makes its way up and down the table so we all have a bit of each other’s, and everything was delicious, the fact you don’t always get your food served at the same time due to two kitchens wasn’t an issue for us as with us sharing food we seemed to be eating for the entire visit!! The drinks menu is fantastic and between the 14 of us we worked down most of the cocktail and gin selection (rhubarb and custard gin was amazing) Alice (I think) was our waitress and she was brilliant Thankyou for a lovely evening, not so sure I’m great full for the hangover
