The Bull Inn in Tonbridge and Malling

We had been very busy putting fencing up so decided to go out for Sunday lunch . The bar was busy but the restaurant was quiet . We had roast lamb with all the trimmings , absolutely lovely, the gravy came out in a gravy boat , lovely . Couldn’t fault the service and so so reasonably . We had a choice of Lamb,beef,pork and chicken . Will definitely go again . The price was very reasonable for such a lovely meal .

I asked for a pint of fosters as I was driving and the barman looked at me like I asked for his months wages. I haven't been in this place for a number of years and the barman's always been grumpy about pouring out lager.

Lovely open fire, good beer and service, the bangers and mash were excellent 👌

We had been coming here for a couple of drinks at various weekends, and whilst it is a little dated, it was fine. However....we came here a couple of weeks ago and were very disappointed at the attitude of the bar staff. Firstly, I ordered my drink, then I asked for a Spritzer made with Sauvignon Blanc and Lemonade. I then got a lengthy rant from the barman, saying that a Spritzer is not made that way, and I shouldn't have called it a Spritzer. He was clearly showing off in front of the handful of customers that were present. I explained that I have regularly asked for that in literally hundreds of pubs / bars over the years, but have never been lectured to about it before. He slammed the drinks down, no 'thank you', took my payment, and walked off into the other bar. When I returned for a second round, the same grumpy and thankless attitude came from the woman that served me. Definitely not returning here again, plenty of other choices in West Malling that actually welcome their customers and even smile!

A lovely traditional pub. We held a wake for my late father there yesterday. Trevor and his staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They my made a great buffet, set out the photos of my dad before we arrived and were brilliant throughout. If you're looking for a venue in West Malling for a family celebration, or a good pint in peaceful surroundings, the Bull is the place.

Greatest "local" pub for miles around. Really good atmosphere and friendly staff. Good selection of lagers and loads of guest ales. Great place for a Sunday roast and really good live bands every few weeks.

Popped in for a drink, lovely old style pub. The staff & other patrons were all very friendly. Will try the food also when next in the area

An older styled pub with a nice charm about the place the staff where all very attentive and pleasant the Guinness was perfect,the roast dinner although not the biggest meal was very nice with lovely gravy and nice Yorkshire puddings,my friends had the pies from the special board both looked very nice and had plenty of filling .

We are new to the area and wanted to have a Sunday lunch in a local pub. We chose the Bull Inn due to its great reviews and had seen from driving past that it certainly looked lovely from the outside. Upon arrival we were greeted by a totally miserable barmaid who told us we would be seated in the restaurant rather than the pub - we agreed as we didn’t know the difference. We were then seated in an empty, freezing ‘restaurant’ (a freezing cold room with a few tables) with no menu and no information regarding the food offering until we asked. There were roast dinners on offer but not many pies as they had had had a ‘busy weekend’. We ordered a steak and mushroom and chicken pie which to be fair were ok however we kept our coats on throughout the meal (mine being a very warm fake fur!) and at no point was there any reference to the fact that we still had our coats on throughout the meal. Can’t believe this place has so many good reviews, we will not be returning for sure.

Superb Sunday roast on the 2nd January after all the Christmas and New year cooking you have to do yourself. The beef was rare to perfection, veg fresh and al dente. Superb roasties and yorkies and generous amounts of gravy. We also hosted a party here on Saturday and the staff surpassed themselves to make it a success, so massive thanks to Yvette, trevor and Reece.

I have been in this pub on and off over the years, partly as it is a more traditional pub that serves a good selection of beers and partly because it’s not full of the clientele from the Farmhouse or The Five Pointed Star. Despite these two major advantages the staff and landlord seem actively hostile and unfriendly. The atmosphere is non existent and the beers are not all well kept - tonight we had one that was almost certainly off & despite immediately buying something else and passing back the 2 undrinkable pints the landlord didn’t even bother to ask what was wrong. I am amazed that this place has such a high rating and I won’t bd going back there

Wonderful pub. No juke box, piped music or fruit machines. Great choice of beers and very friendly staff. Just the sort of place to meet friends and chat without having to raise your voices above blaring music or just to sit in peace with a great drink. One of my favourite pubs. Just wish we lived a bit nearer.

Fantastic pub which is almost 600 years old. Has real character and a perfect place for a few hours to relax. The pub is doggie friendly and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had 2 pies which were home made, thoroughly recommend choose one if you are in for a meal. Chocolate fudge cake for dessert was incredible too. Great food. Great venue. Great staff. Check out the bull for a relaxing evening out. Highly recommended

The worst food I have ever eaten. I don’t like giving bad reviews, however I am compelled to inform you that this establishment should be avoided. The Sunday roast was a concoction of reheated frozen or fresh potatoes that seemed frozen and reheated. With perfectly sliced beef straight out of a packet, with the chewy texture of rubber. The vegetables were the only saving grace,, which were sort of okay. All topped with a congealing gravy. I get it , we’re at the backend of a very rough time and cheap food is the only way a business can survive and profit BUT, serving poor quality food is not the answer, if you can’t serve a good product don’t. Change snd limit your menu to that which you can do well. I did pay the £28 it cost for two roasts and a gin, I did leave the food after a couple of mouth fulls and that was enough…. It was clear that this establishment needed the money more than I do. You should be ashamed to serve food like this… STOP! Really sorry to write this type of review, BUT DON’T visit the Bull until you see lots of better reviews and even then if you do visit look before buying

Food is nearly always exceptionally nice such a shame when the barmaid who was working today let's it down. Shes so miserable and unhelpful.

Good value tasty food. Generous portions. Well worth a visit. Separate room available for group bookings.

The room was cold, the diet coke was flat. The food was cold on arrival especially the mash with the salmon, we complained and returned it. Once it arrived back the mash had disappeared replaced by some squashed potatoes. The turkey lunch was ok, but again cold and we waited 10 minutes or more waiting for the gravy and the cranberry sauce. The pub was busy in the main bar and they obviously didn't have enough staff. Then to top it all it was expensive for what it was. Definitely won't be returning.

Nice traditional pub on by the railway bridge as you enter West Malling. Friendly staff, dogs are allowed and there is a small private outdoor paved space with typical pub tables and benches.

I visited the bull last night and it is a lovely pub but the events that I witnessed were really shocking. A young lad had entered the pub where he was greeted with moody comments such as "if you do not take your drink outside i will ban you" which was made from a woman I'm guessing is the manager. After a while she had requested him to leave at 6 due to another member of staff starting shift which is not fair as he was not causing any trouble. 6 o'clock came and he had not left as he still had a drink, he went up for another pint where a younger barmaid had started an argument with him for no reason. The lad clearly wanted to have a drink but the staff made this difficult as they would make comments and embarrass him in front of other customers Please and thank you was used by the lad but this was not enough I do remember him asking what he had done wrong and he got "your breathing" as an answer. Im really shocked as how the staff treat there customers and as a repeating customer myself I will not be visiting the bull again.

I visited the bull and had done for a few months and was really shocked with the experience I had on my recent visit. I ordered a drink and got a moody look from a barmaid that sat on her phone and snatched my money from my hand.

This is a well patronised pub obviously very popular. There is a nice garden at the back for good weather. Traditional English food is home cooked and of excellent quality. The Landlord has been there many years and very friendly.

Had a reasonable Sunday roast. Good price and nice portions. The gravy let it down a bit as it was quite bland. Shame really as everything else was very good

Ate here on a Thursday night, got the 2 for £14 deal with a friend. Food arrived quickly and portion sizes were very generous. Proper pub grub. Their chips were a particular highlight. Excellent value money.

A really friendly friendly pub with a large selection of real Ales. There is a great log fire in the bar to dry you out on wet winter days. There's a good restaurant with great food and the amazing Bull pies. 😊

If your looking for a pub in west malling, opposite a car park and near a bridge' with a garden and the friendliest bar staff there is, then this is the place....and they do great pies!

Good honest food in a pub which looks much better on the inside than the outside, but it must be said the outside is not 'tarted up' it just looks like a pub. The staff were informally friendly and gave good service. There is a wide selection of mostly local draught beer available. I had a Goachers Gold Star which is a pale tasty bitter. The food was proper pub food, I managed a dessert which was an exceptionally good pear and pomegranate crumble. The addition of pistachio in the crumble made it something way better than most.

Food at The Bull Inn was what I expect in pub grub: wholesome, hearty and homemade. They have an excellent selection of huge savoury pies. A traditional pub with warm, inviting locals. Food was excellent value for money. After 3 courses I walked away feeling fuller than a Bull Inn Bum.

It was a lovely cozy place with a live band a great atmosphere. Easy to make friends.

Well I didn't eat here but only had a very very good pint of Guinness. Pub was quiet at first but soon filled up as it was Quiz night. Makes a change to get away from the crowds in West Malling. Will go back and order some food next time.

Staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely. I had a homemade burger which was absolutely gorgeous. My daughter in law had the chicken ham and leak pie which she said was amazing. The children's portions are very generous. Pub doesn't loo much from the outside but don't be put off. I would definitely recommend this pub.

We went to the Pub for dinner on a saturday night and found the food to be good quality and value. They had a very good band on that night as a bonus so we stayed the whole evening finding a great atmosphere. The range of beers was excellent along with the staff/service.

Other than the barmaid moaning about the size of the round not a bad place to visit.
