First time I've been in this pub and it was very welcoming. Comfortable atmosphere.

Revisited for another wonderful roast

Visited last night 4/11/23 as we bought tickets for the fireworks display and hog roast. What a great night, staff are friendly, hog roast was delicious with a good display of fireworks and to top it off a really energetic great sounding band. What a brilliant night.

We had our mothers after funeral do here yesterday , it was perfect , the food was just the best , lots of variety, loads for us, all set out perfect ,everyone said how lovely the food was , the staff were lovely ,really helpful and accommodating the setting is just perfect with a conservatory and great outside seating , highly recommend this place and a big thank you to all the staff for making my mothers funeral the best it could be Kind regards Celia and family

It's a Shame this resturant is deserted as I've been before and the food is generally good. The pub resturant needs a refit desperately but I know it has Aircon in hot weather. I was a bit disappointed in my lasagne as although quite tasty was quite lacking in meat and was half full in the dish. Nachos with chilli were nice though. Friendly staff but due to band jamming session next door not that attentive.

Visited on a day when an American car club was holding a meet later that evening. Had a meal with the wife good honest pub food at reasonable prices. Well presented but I do have a pet hate of food served on anything but a plate but they were happy to change from a wooden board to a plate. Had puddings too. Menus in the pictures.

Helpful waitress. Very nice lunch. Good value. We had side room for 10 which was great.

We visited here for a family wake and couldn't have been more happier with how everything had been organised. Though our gathering was mostly in the conservatory, the main pub part beside was no trouble at all. The food, tea and coffee supplied was all superb, with enough seating for all. Nothing was too much trouble even offered and cleaned out my granddaughters sippy cup and refilling. Thank you so much to all the kind staff for helping us to gather together to honour her passing. Highly recommend.

Great atmosphere and generous portions. Worth the money. Been here on a midweek evening and a Sunday lunch - for what people are charging nowadays this pub really delivers - cooking beef to an exact standard and the pork to an excellent quality. Cauliflower cheese as standard! Midweek food was fish and chips and scampi, both cooked fresh and chips done to order, all in all a premium experience from a pub which deserves a lot more patronage

The seating area was sparse . Wooden tables with no mats or decor . Sauces were provided in paper pots like MaccyD . Sunday lunch menu was roast with a choice of 3 meats . Zero choice for vegetarians, vegans or gluten free . No drinks menu provided . Basic tea and coffee . Poor quality and will not go again.eventually chef found a veg tart to give to our veggie

Thurs night dinner there. Good service and quality food; fresh ingredients. Decent size portions. Will visit again soon.

We had a really good takeaway last night of scampi and chips. It was hot, crispy and huge sized scampi. We phoned to order first and it was ready when we arrived, lots of tartar sauce and the slices of lemon was exceptionally thoughtful , the chips were generous and really good too. . Very reasonable at £18.00 for two I would recommend everyone to go

Staying in the area for a course, hotel food to highly priced for budget and not great so tried this pub for a change. Was so good went back the following night for another meal. Drinks reasonable price and as you would expect them to be, good head on the drafts, good amount of mixer in the spirits. The staff were excellent, friendly, chatty and welcoming. The food was good, had the burger one night and fish and chips, really good price for the size, tasty and definitely fits into that good pub grub category. Desert had cream on the side and was generous sized and amount of cream. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

A truly amazing place and staff..We were a party of 22 people each ordering different meals. The food was very well cooked, hot and delicious..The service quick...The staff polite and nothing was too much trouble..I highly recommend this Pub..Thanks to The Bucks Head 👌

My first visit here since COVID started but I hope it won’t be as long until my next visit. We were early lunchtime so were the only ones in the restaurant. There were three of us in the party, two of us decided to try the £10 two course meal (main and dessert) We both had the Scampi, chips and peas and really thought it would be a fairly small portion for the money. We were so wrong! We each had 9 large pieces of delicious scampi plus a heap of perfectly fried chips and minted peas. The other friend chose battered Haddock from the main menu and said it was delicious. Although we were all feeling rather full we still made room for dessert. I had syrup sponge with custard, my friends both had chocolate ice cream sundae (and they were enormous!) This meal was such good value for money I would recommend it to anybody. The staff were friendly and the restaurant clean. My only criticism is that I was a bit chilly but this could have been because the restaurant hadn’t had time to warm up properly. We were 3 happy customers!

The restaurant looked busy the when we visited. We sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us, it was busy, however, we had excellent service despite this. Food was very good and both had a substantial Sunday roast, hubby had the spotted dick which judging by the wiped clean plate was also very good. Would highly recommend.

Although a regular at this pub I rarely eat here, tonight I ordered fish and chips to takeaway and they were amongst the best chippy suppers I have ever had.

Great local, great beer, friendly helpful regulars who were welcoming and kind. A fire to sit by. Functional WiFi if you sit in the right area. A very cosy place to while away a few hours. I live 50 miles away but I'll be back! 😁

What can I say without running out of space. Such a warm welcome and VERY accomodating. Staff (Eric) was really attentive. Colette, well, simply great. Food cooked to perfection and all of my family and friends ( 18 of us) could not and have not said a bad thing about the quality of food and level of service by all. We will return and, indeed, more custom will be generated by us. Well done Colette!!!!!!!!

We had a family gathering this evening at above pub. There was about -approx. 18 of us some had starters others main course varied selection. Ok we had to wait a little but considering the landlady was the only chef the timing was good and the food superb. You could not fault the quality abs quantity of the dishes served with friendliness and care. It was our first visit here but will not be our last that is for sure. Wonderful evening thank you.

As 73 yr old grandmother taking 2 energetic 5yrs and their mothers out for dinner I was wondering how successful this was going to be. I needn’t have worried due to the play equipment and child friendly atmosphere plus good food, we have a wonderful evening!

Colette and her staff did the buffet for my partner’s wake at the Bucks Head. I would just like to say she had listened to everything I had asked for in what we would like food wise at the buffet and there was more than enough to go round. The atmosphere was great, the staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was also a bonus to have the outdoor space so people could sit outside in the sunshine. I certainly would recommend the Bucks Head to my friends and family as a great place to host any sort of gathering. Thank you Colette. Well done.

You can expect a warm welcoming from the lovely staff in this amazing house village from the 17th century. The place is full of stories, especially if you could read the Jubilee book wrote by locals in 1965 and available in the pub. I had a tasty pizza and a fish and ships that i really enjoyed. I will be back, thank you. .

Lovley venue. Although was a little quiet for a Friday night. Food was freshly cooked and the staff were very welcoming. Newly refurbished gardened with seating areas and playground for the children.

The Sunday roast is spot on, tastes more like a homemade roast rather than the usual pub fare. The cauliflower cheese is delicious. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was relaxed. Took COVID measures seriously. Will definitely be returning soon.

Started out well when we arrived but when a few more people arrived, very slow service, waited over 60 mins for a drink which never came. Asked 3 times. Even another fanily asked on our behalf for some attention. Sad really, as after lockdown I was hoping to support local business. Felt like we were an inconvenience to them.

Lovely local village pub in the beautiful village of Little Wymondley. Really nice food, lovely outdoor area that has been done up with a lovely decking space and patio heaters. Good for families. Will be back.

We popped in for a drink but sad to hear that the previous owners had moved on. They were so welcoming and we always loved coming in for a drink and chat. It looks like the new owners have kept things running as before and kept the standard good. (Tough act to follow) Not a lot has changed which is lovely to see. Will be back for another round and a carvery soon!

We live local and had not visited for a long time due to poor experience with previous landlord. We really enjoyed our meal, the food was fresh, tasty and generous portions, excellent value for money. Great service, we were served by a friendly waiter and waitress who were both helpful. We had our meal in the spacious conservatory then enjoyed some drinks on the decking in the large garden. We will look forward to returning!!

Visited on Tuesday night with 3 others for the eat out to help out scheme. 2 of us had the halloumi burgers, one had fish and chips and the other had the salmon. There was very little in the way of leftovers! Generous portion sizes, all cooked to perfection & served in a timely fashion. Staff were attentive & nothing was too much trouble. The gardens also are lovely, well maintained with lovely plants & surroundings. I’m also very impressed with the Covid19 safety measures put in place, whilst still maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Thank you all!

Very nice pub run by friendly manager in my cute village of Little Wymondley Even though we still dealing with the horrible virus COVID-19 we dealt safe and safety measures are adequate Food was very good and salads and vegetables looked very fresh and well prepared They cater for Vigans and Vegetarians not a lot of choice but it is ok The steak and Guinness pie was very nice and my wife is vegan and had the vigan burger and it was nice Friendly people and wish them all the best Highly recommended

Nice meals all round lively back garden for the kids. Very spacious great for these social distancing times. Owner came out for a chat which was lovely as well as it shows they care for the customers.

we haven't been here for a while but thought we'd try somewhere different. What a good choice we made. Setting was great, loads of room, clean and the staff were very attentive without being over the top. We were so impressed with the safety measures put in place regarding Covid19 Staff were very helpful, food was excellent and highly recommend. Lots of attractive outdoor space. Looking forward to trying one of their BBQ events. Everything clearly signed, hand sanitiser stations, toilets checked every 15 minutes. Gluten Free options, food piping hot. Thank you very much

I visited on 02.08.20 very easy to book, they accommodated for my dairy intolerance on the day. If you call beforehand and make them aware they will do their absolute best to accommodate. We had the Sunday roast it was amazing very hot in temperature, the meat was moist, the vegetables had a little crunch, tasted so fresh, portions are great we had a small, honestly the best we have had. I would highly recommend visiting the bucks head pub so friendly and lovely and the food just topped it off. Thank you can’t wait to come back great hospitality. X

Wow. Didn’t think these pubs still existed! Friendliest staff, can’t do enough for you to make your visit enjoyable, whether going in for a drink or food. We booked a Sunday dinner, which was lovely. Carvery served to the table to adhere to new rules, but can ask for more veggies and favourites if still hungry even though the portions served are already big enough tbh. Brilliant play area for the kids out the back. We ended up staying for most of the day. Highly recommended for children, mums to catch up for lunch and families. Thanks Bucks Head

My family and I came here for food at the weekend and it did not disappoint! I had the fish and chips and it was excellent! It is a lovely village pub, run by very friendly staff. I was also really impressed by the coronavirus measures put in place. The pub is taking the safety of its staff and customers very seriously, but it did not ruin the atmosphere. 10/10 - I definitely recommend and would return again :)

Lovely drinks in a beautiful pub garden in the lovely village of Little Wymondley.Owners have worked very hard to make the venue covid-secure and it felt very safe with one way systems, perspex screens and plenty of outdoor seating.Very nice seating area with decking to the back and a hidden cosy corner at the front.We will be back for a meal soon.

Visited with my partner and another couple for dinner on Saturday evening 14/03/20. Very welcoming and efficient staff, great food and excellent guest beers. We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely visit again.

Lovely Sunday roast. There was a large party of us (16) to celebrate a family Birthday, various aged people from 7 to 85, all catered for very well. The food was lovely, the vegetables cooked to perfection. If there was one criticism it would be not enough vegetable choice, just carrots and cabbage plus the usual trimmings. Would definitely go again. It was very busy so make sure you book in advance.

I stood at the bar and was by passed twice because the two barmaids favoured "known customers" over serving me, i was only there due to being at a wake wednesday, after 20 mins i gave up and walked away not having a drink the whole time i was on the premises

Thank you so much to the landlord and lovely staff at The Bucks Head for our wonderful Christmas lunch! Delicious hot food and amazing service. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt so at home and the pub looked all cosy and Christmassy with the decorations up. Fire place was lit as it was a cold day which just added to the atmosphere of the pub. If you're looking for a pub with charm then look no further. We will be back soon.

We booked The Bucks Head at short notice, because our other venue had lost our booking and were then full. We were a party of 11. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The carvery was excellent. Succulent joints, plenty of veg including a lovely cauliflower cheese. Some of us had puddings, which were also delicious. We were not rushed or made to feel we had to leave quickly - which was good, as we only meet twice a year so have a lot of catching up to do! We decided to relocate to the bar eventually and enjoyed our afternoon.

Over the years I have visited many pubs, and I rate the Bucks Head, in the top three all time for service and food. Collette and Tony go above, and beyond what one would normally expect to keep their customers happy. I really cannot fault the establishment at all, 5 stars all the way.

Food extremely poor very small portions not worth the money, the lady serving was very pleasant but we will not be going back anytime soon.

Called in today for lunch. The smell of old chip fat greeted us . One young lady serving who was extremely pleasant and very busy seeing as it was a friday lunchtime. We had a sandwich which was ok. If I'm honest I wouldnt rush back. The pub is very tired and in need of some TLC.

The staff went above and beyond to assist with wheelchair access into garden. The food (the Sunday cavery) and service was absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
