Fantastic food with great service. Always has great food with decent size portions. Great to take away and equally to eat in for table service. Great size portions of desserts also. Definitely no 1 in Filey.

Excellent fish and chips. Recommended by the locals which tells you everything. A little waiting time but the fact it’s so busy maybe tells you everything. Highly recommended

Absolutely fantastic, I was so pleased the brown room was still here as I hadn't been for 30 years since I last came as a teenager, I used to come regularly with my auntie and uncle when we stayed at their holiday home in Filey and it was always great food and great service, well nothing has changed in all those years the food and service are fantastic and the decor is just the same too. The best fish and chips on the east coast.

We've lived in Filey for 5 years now, and use the Brown Room on many occasions, never had a bad meal. First class place for fish n chips.

Wow!! Today we searched high and low for a decent chippy in our area and find nothing. Went as far as Filey and turned down a street to park and saw the brown room. At this point I was just thinking I’m starving I’ll go anywhere! Oh my days this was amazing!! Beautiful chips not covered in grease, crunchy batter and a soft bread bun! Can’t get any better than that! Well done and will be returning! Xxx

How is this place not #1? It deserves to be. Incredible f&c of the highest order. Great, well organised, enthusiastic young team serving and prepping. People are are always looking the ‘the best’ fish and chips and this has a lot of the attributes to take that title without trying too hard. We sat in and glad we did. It has so many little touches that we fell in love with. Clean full bottles. Including tartar sauce. No fiddly sachets here! Quaint and genuine retro deco Spun Stainless steel sauce dishes I challenge you to find a better curry sauce. Incredible. I want to go back tomorrow!!!

Literally the best fish and chips I've had in a long time!!! Fish was thick and delicious. The batter was amazing and crunchy. Mushy peas were good. Service was fast and very friendly. Shame we're on holiday!!! If you're in Filey ...go!!!!

Brown crawl completed. Me and my mates just completed the Filey brown crawl. After drinking brown water from the war memorial fountain and having brown coffee and donuts on the sea front we headed to the brown room. The food in the brown room was terrificly brown, however the flow of the brown started taking over my bowels. We rushed down to the public bathrooms to decorate the toilet brown. Absolutely beautiful pice of fish (don't eat chips ) curry sauce Absolutely amazing portion size was huge and cooked perfectly kids said the chips were amazing aswell so on that note a score it 9.5 out of 10 dingo mandingos if your in filey its a must try

I originally gave the brown room a 5 star review. But after my last visit it is now a 1 star review as the food was terrible. And to make it worse they were that oily that when I was holding the food in the car the fat dripped out of the paper and has ruined my clothes. Won't be visiting again

Was in with the wife for cod and chips And boy did it feed us. The lad who served us knew wat we meant when we said 2 fish suppers. He gave us extra potions of fish and it was lovely... one of best fish suppers ever.

Fantastic chippy loved it high quality food, probably the best chippy on the east coast. No silly sachets for tartar sauce and tomatoe sauce at extra cost. Proper bottles. Good service, nice quality cuppa and the owner friendly taking time to speak despite being busy gave me advice on boat launch from cobble. Wanted to go again but closed I was gutted.

Excellent customer service with a smile from lady serving & gentleman frying. We've recently got a seasonal pitch for our caravan. Always went inghams but the brown room are much nicer & staff more pleasant. Keep up the excellent work & banter.

The fish and chips were mediocre, but the disappointing aspect was the poor customer service. The girl serving was unfriendly, sullen and spoke in clipped sentences e.g Stand over here. What do you want? in a demanding tone. We didn't feel like customers, we felt like a source of irritation to her.

I had fish and chips with local friends who brought me to the Brown Room to buy take away. The first time was in 2018. The latest time was this time, in June this year. The batter is crispy and tasty. The chips are very good and the fish is enormous! The portions are humongous in my point of view. 😁 When you are craving some fish and chips I would definitely recommend the Brown Room!

A proper fish and chip shop. Really crisp batter on the fish and dripping cooked chips. Add a pot of tea for two and share a syrup sponge and custard for a perfect seaside supper. Lovely service too.

Extremely Poor Overall. Ordered a few fish and chips and it didn't travel well at all. Skin had come apart from the actual fish which had not been skinned (never had fish like this before) Batter had a 'strange taste' and was not pleasant and everything had stuck to the paper wrapping. Fantastic fish and chips, reasonable prices and good portions. Friendly staff. We always call in when we are in Filey and have done for years. I don't know how they compare with other fish and chip shops in the area as we never bother trying them, once you've found a place this good there's no point. We will definitely be back.
