One of the nicest restaurants in the area of Whitchurch. Daren and his lovely staff always make you welcome. the food is so tasty, with a good choice for all, including vegetarian. There is special lunch menu and Al a carte .

Lovely, intimate surroundings with excellent, efficient service. We were impressed with the quality of the glasses and pretty water carafe that was automatically brought to the table. Staff very polite and friendly. Good to be able to see staff cooking in kitchen and we were very impressed with the efficiency of kitchen staff organising the order of dishes to be prepared. Meals we had were beautifully cooked - my belly pork just melted and fell apart and my partner's burger with pancetta was simply delicious. We'll be back!

Stopped in for lunch. Very congenial atmosphere. The food was hot, which is always a good start. I didn't leave a thing on my plate. My main was the pie of the day, which was beef with veg. The beef was melt in the mouth. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and definitely go back there.

Just want to say a HUGE THANKYOU to all at the Brooks Bistro.. what a fabulous night, wonderful atmosphere and the food was exceptional.. i booked for a family Festive evening for 16 of us, the service was very professional and friendly even though it was packed e didn't feel neglected.. can't recommend this place highly enough.. we had the Festive menu and there's plenty of choice for each course, the presentation and quality of each and every dish was excellent. Also plenty of choice for coeliac guests. The chef popped in to see us which was lovely too.. would definitely book again

We have 2 steaks, chips, cheesy garlic bread for me and my partner and then a cheese burger and chips for our daughter. What a meal!! It was beautiful! Best steak we have had in a long time!! So tasty and cooked to perfection! Our daughter likes to call their burgers ‘banging bistro burger’! Highly recommend! You will not be disappointed!

Food good and service acceptable. Really disappointed however, to be presented with the bill whilst we were having our coffee, then 5 minutes later the card machine arrived and we were told our table was required in 10 minutes! Just not impressed, a poor experience! Won’t be going back, plenty of other more professional and genuine places to eat in and around Cardiff and the Vale.

It can get busy so I recommend booking a reservation. I was there for breakfast and I loved the food. I had waffles with bacon & hash browns. I wanted a side of scrambled eggs which they were able to do. My boyfriend had pancakes with the winterberry compote. Everything was delicious! Definitely coming back!

This place was recommended to me as great place to eat. We were a table of 6 for lunch. Half of us weren’t impressed as we had the chicken breast ,stuffing with 3 tiny bits of what was supposed to be roast potatoes ,which had been cooked so much they had dehydrated in the middle ! It was served with frozen green beans and peas accompanied by what was supposed to be home made gravy , which in fact was gravy granules as when I poured it out onto my plate you could actually see some undissolved granules. My starter was awful my Katsu prawns were overcooked . We asked at the beginning of the meal if we could pay separately, no was reply . I DID NOT complain on the day as it was a special day for one of our party and didn’t want to spoil the atmosphere. But as a professional chef myself ,I was really underwhelmed by the food . £15.95 is a competitive price , but 2 of our party had the seabass which was cooked superbly and the other had the lamb sausage meal which was also a substantial meal .

Was recomended to go to The Brook by some work colleages as I was meeting my sister for a belated birthday lunch. On entering the decor was very stylish and modern. The staff were very helpful especially when I explained my sister was running late. We chose off the set lunch menu which had something for all tastes. I had prawns as a started and the chicken burger as a main. It was very well presented and tasted delicous. The service was quick but freshly cooked. Drinks were slightly expensive but as we were driving this didnt affect us. We didnt feel hurried, the ambience was lovely and we werent cramped into a seat near other people so felt we werent overlooked. Spotlessly clean and tidy. Would definately go again. Thank you.

Warm welcome, fantastic table by the window, outstanding service (helpful, friendly and filled with smiles) and fabulous food (Between us we had calamari, sea bass with salad, fillet steak and creme brulee with freshly baked shortbread). It is a long time since we have enjoyed eating out this much. High quality ingredients, cooked and presented to perfection. Lovely, hard working staff. Beautifully decorated restaurant and good value. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and the amazing team who run it. 5 stars is not enough!

Came here for a family meal to celebrate my brothers birthday this week. We all throughly enjoyed our meals. All had starters which were great as well - Chicken kebabs were a bit over cooked but other that that, a fantastic meal! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

A good find when visiting Cardiff for a couple of days. Parking can be difficult though. Nice bistro, obviously popular.

Very disappointed the lamb was like cardboard and it wasn't cauliflower cheese it was leftover with cheese and why put garlic in a roast dinner you were amazing and now no recommendations won't be back

We went for dinner on Saturday night and had a great evening. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, the customer service was good and the environment inside was lovely. The pulled pork Bon Bons were a highlight alongside the apple, pear and plum crumble which was SO delicious. Plenty of choice on the menu which would bring us back again.

We come here most Friday evenings for the 12pm - 6pm menu. At £15 for two courses it is literally the best value in Cardiff. Fabulous food and excellent service. Brook Bistro is a wonderful local bistro.

The Bistro was recommended by a friend. Based on his high commendations we visited late afternoon.. We opted for a 2 course for £15. The prawns for starters were OK. 4 thin prawns with a slight drizzle of chilli sauce.. OK, tasty. Then on to the mains... I'm just glad my 2 sons at 6 foot plus weren't there... My lamb meal consisted of about 3 very small slices of lamb with one 1arge roast potato,cut in to 4...i couldn't believe it... Complained to management but forget it... There were no apologies.. Anyway, to cut a long story very short.. We left feeling very hungry and wished we had gone to the local chippy just up the road.. Never again... A lesson in management skills would be advisable.. Don't waste your money here. When we complained, they brought our a little plate with a few carrots and a few peas..... Okay.. 🤣

Rated this as a 4 because we were seated in a position too close to an inner doorway which meant people were passing us too closely in order to access an inner room. Food was great, servers were helpful and knowledgeable about allergens and intolerances. Probably would have rated this as a 5 if we'd been seated elsewhere. Our tables position really doesn't work felt everyone was breathing over my meal. Also made conversation difficult as people were in your face as they were going past. Ditch this table and it would have been a lovely meal out. I'm small could not imagine a man being able to sit comfortably in that position.

This place is shockingly bad. Went for Sunday lunch and wont be returning EVER. Firstly the beer served was warm, then the starters arrived which consisted of pea, mint and ham soup (couldn't see any ham in it and was very salty and lumpy), the filo prawns were wet and soggy. Things did not improve with the mains unfortunately, lumpy and dried out swede, cauli and broccoli bake which was weirdly sweet, and a child's portion of beef. Really inadequate all around and the tempearature is so hot as there isn't any air conditioning! The service was decent but that's where it ends. A few of our friends were coming here but we have now advised against it. Dreadful!! The restaurant won't even accept feedback, the first error in business. Deniability won't get you anywhere. The beer is NOT ice cold!

As a second time eating here on a Sunday, I felt it was about time I reviewed. Found The Brook Bistro by chance a month ago whilst looking for a place for a good Sunday dinner but what i found was outstanding. I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are so attentive and Chloe always goes above and beyond. As a self confessed foodie, I can't find fault in the food. Arrived in good time, well presented and taste... so good. Extra gravy offered and any sauces we wanted. Dessert.... I'd happily just stop by for that! Already booked the next meal for a group of friends to return. Not to be missed.

Last minute booking, lucky to get a table at short notice as booking ahead is always recommend. We went for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The Bistro was packed out and has a really good vibe. We were greeted by a lovely lady on arrival and shown to our table by the window. We went for the 3 course Sunday lunch option at £29.95, the options available is so good you just want the order everything. The food is excellently prepared and the qaulity and taste with portion size is extremely good. The service from all the staff is outstanding and are a credit to your business. Always smiling and going the extra mile. They deserve a pay rise. The sours on the drinks menu was an added bonus as they did two of our favourite sours - the Bistro is a gem, delivering qaulity food with first class service at very affordable prices.

Booked Sunday lunch today with family. The food was exceptional as were the cocktails, but what deserves a particular mention was that every single member of staff were so pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us (this really can make or break a meal out more than the food for me ) ! Fab with our 7 month old also, bringing over a plate of veg and bits to keep him entertained. 10/10 !

Came across when looking for a lunchtime venue. It is on a busy street. Lovely little bistro. The staff are very welcoming. We didn't book but in future would do, as it gets busy. The meal was of a high standard. Well worth a visit.

Absolute gem of a place, fabulous food, excellent service. Much larger than you expect when approaching from the high Street. Lots of options for the dietary challenged amongst us. Highly advise a visit. Very good value for money. We will be back soon.

Great food at the Bistro, Darren & the team are always happy to make the visit a good one. Often have breakfast here which is delicious and we've even used the home delivery service on the odd occasion. But this week we tried the new Jack Daniels burger which was delicious!!!!!!! Came for brunch on a Saturday and it was delightful. Coffee and tea were both excellent. The pancakes were light and fluffy, bacon crispy and they used real Canadian maple syrup. The full Welsh breakfast looked great too. Update: went back for Sunday dinner and oh my word is is good! Full three course meal and everything was spot on, cooked to perfection. Staff were lovely and everything is really well priced.

We went for lunch today, the first time since it’s been expanded. We were seated quickly and given a menu, however we were not given any option for the 2 course brunch menu, which the tables around us were. We were extremely disappointed as we ordered before realising that we were handed the more expensive menu, based on this I could not give a maximum review, my lunch was nice although my hubby did not enjoy his Pork Belly which was predominantly fat, so would not order this again. Overall an ok experience but I’d have to advise anyone going to Brooks Bistro, to request the 2 course menu which is set at £15.00. It’s very misleading to advertise something and then not offer it.

Recently went here for a Saturday brunch because Fino lounge was closed. On entering the venue my party was met with a strange smell which was slightly unpleasant. However, given the restaurant itself was well kept, we assumed the smell was out of place, and we persisted. The restaurant was very empty when we arrived with only two parties present (including ours). When we left this number had increased to six - still very low figures. Even with this, service was slow and uncoordinated. Drinks came out sporadically with half the party receiving theirs 10 mins before the other half. The food was not great and I was unable to finish mine. I ordered the "homemade" brisket burger. Points are as follows: 1) it definitely wasn't homemade. It seemed like it may have been from frozen. It tasted cheap and I determined the patties themselves to be the source of the unpleasant odour we smelled on entering the establishment. This was also the reason I was unable to finish. 2) The brisket burger was a plain cheeseburger, which was disappointing. 3) the burger was supposed to come with bacon. Staff remembered 5 minutes after serving us and put down 4 strips of bacon on a plate for us to help ourselves to in the middle of the table. 4) weirdly the restaurant served us our burgers initially without the chips. We were left waiting 1 or 2 minutes whilst they followed, but it was still odd not to be served our meal in one go.

Visited with a group of friends on a Friday evening. The restaurant had been recently decorated and looked really good. Tables were set nicely with pretty glasses. Had a great table in the window. It was packed with a lively, happy atmosphere. The food options were good and prices reasonable. Desserts were delicious!! The few downsides are: shared toilets with a low water use cistern sink. They were messy and it was not nice stretching over the toilet to wash my hands. Wine choice - they'd run out of house wine so only had pretty pricey wine left (without warning us of the higher price), the main course could have been tastier (more garlic and olive oil in beans). Looking forward to returning to try the brunch! Returned for Sunday lunch in Feb - desserts were still awesome, roasts were OK some good bits, some not so great. Sticking with 4*.
