The Bridgend brynmawr in Blaenau Gwent

Could not fault the food. The problem was presentation. We went for Sunday lunch the plate came out with two boiled potatoes Yorkshire pudding meat and small amount of gravy all dumped together. My partner did actually have a small roast potato as well. We had to ask for the veg which had not arrived five minutes after the plate as above. However the food was cooked well and tasty ashame about the presentation and service

Beautiful home cooked food and plenty of it! I had steak and ale pie, full of meat and really flavoursome. Would definitely recommend a visit. Staff and friendly and professional. Meal served promptly.

The food was amazing all quality home made food the skills of the chefs were clear, steaks cooked perfectly, mash seasoned and garnished corectly. They also cater for kids perfectly offering 2 different menus for small kids and larger kids. Truly a delight.

They obviously believe in quantity rather than quality chips tasted as iff they had been cooked yesterday the eggs were hard and the gammon was like leather my wife's hunters chicken was just as bad will not be going there again

Fantastic little pub.. a country atmosphere on the outskirts of the town. A warm welcome, friendly staff and amazing food with huge portions, they were very good with our little boy and we will definitely be back.

Main meal delicious once sat down. Had to move from other tables extremely noisy and loud. Sat upstairs quieter, but music blaring in ear. Couldn't answer phone as to noisy Decor outdated artex walls very 80s Tablecloths needed badly on old tables Service however friendly

Lovely lunch, perfect place for a catch up with friends. We were even able to enjoy a drink outside after our meal. The staff were all lovely and the food was great and value for money.

Very poor choice for gluten free There were only two gluten free mains a veg curry or veg cottage pie, I ordered the cottage pie it was bland and served with a side of veg which were boring too No gravy and it is easy to buy gluten free gravy even in the supermarket The food had little flavour the worst meal I’ve ever had here Bring back the previous owners when the food was fantastic My husband did enjoy his steak but as I’m now gluten free unless they improve their menu we won’t be returning

Visited for a family birthday, very disappointing. A variety of menu dishes weren't available and 'not had for ages' yet still on the menu! Food came out cold, gammon overcooked and not good quality. There were a group of lads, not all eating, and very noisy, language disgusting especially when children there. Seemed to be overbooked! Won't return!

Omg we had the most delicious meals this afternoon at the Bridgend Inn Brynmawr My husband had the roast dinner he said it was delicious & I had the lamb chops also delicious. Topped it off with amazing desserts Vanilla pannacotta & chocolate topped pannacotta. Well done to the chef, owners and all the staff there. The atmosphere is so pleasant and everyone friendly. We will be visiting again soon. Highly recommended 5 star

Not dog friendly but looked very comfortable. Having moved to the area recently we intentionally wanted our first visit to a local pub to be here. Disappointed that dogs are not welcomed.

Called in today and was welcomed by the really friendly waitress and lovely barman, I had the garlic mushroom chicken which was served with chips and I swapped the salad to peas the meal was absolutely delicious I honestly couldn’t fault anything.

We had a lovely three course meal which considering our numbers all came out well presented, timely and very tasty. Excellent value for money. The staff were superb and very attentive. Can’t wait for our next visit

We were first in the pub and were greeted with “Did you book?”. I said no, as I honestly didn’t think it would be an issue on a Monday lunchtime. Told to sit anywhere that wasn’t laid up, so that excluded a whole 2 or 3 tables. So obviously the not booking wasn’t a problem that it initially appeared to be. Given two menus but one was empty so had to share. Had to go to the bar for drinks, but they were then added to our tab. Not sure why were couldn’t order them with the waitress, as the table beside us received table service on drinks. Ordered lamb burger and ham, egg and chips. Lamb burger was horribly overcooked, and no amount of yoghurt and mint sauce was going to make it not dry. Salad was fresh but the sweet potato fries were also overcooked. Coleslaw was tasteless. My friend left her ham as she said it tasted strange. Chips were pale but fried egg good. We’ve got over 30 years in hospitality experience between us, so we’re not unfamiliar with service or cooking. No check back received, and when lady came to clear plates we explained what was wrong as we’d both left two thirds of our meal. The response was she’d let chef know, no apology. We finished our drinks and about 20 minutes later we were awkwardly offered complimentary pudding, which we declined. Received two coffees as recompense, which was at best a token gesture. The place was not busy and with at least 4 floor staff on, working on a 1-15 ratio for service, the service should have been a lot better. Won’t return, which is a real shame as I’m local. But there’s better in the local area than the service and food we received today.

Average at best, average food, average service. Would return if I couldn't get in any where else.There's a hell of a lot better locally. Frozen roasts and Yorkshire, uneven table, had to ask for cutlery twice, carling was flat.But the soup was awesome so was the boiled potatoes, soft and delightful.

Had an amazing birthday meal, staff was so friendly and welcoming, food was beautiful and piping hot, love this restaurant.

Two of us had the gammon with egg pineapple chips mushrooms side salad one had king prawn balti and one steak and ale pie all of the meals were excellent I truly recommend

Just popped in on the off chance for a Sunday take away lunch. It was massive and unbelievable value. I paid a little extra for cauliflower cheese and it was well worth it. Prob one of the best ones I've ever had.The whole dinner was amazing. On the down side tho. I can't move now. I'm stuffed.If you can find a better value Sunday dinner than what I just had I would love to know about it. Because that will take some spiking. Top marks to all of you who made that today.

Recommend a visit for day time and evening menu food. Wasn’t overly happy with Xmas group meal but overall majority was and it comes down to personal taste etc. I think a good overall with room for improvement on Xmas menu but again strongly recommend visiting day or night for main menu. This is constructive feedback not a person dig at the inn as I know Xmas can be very demanding and busy with everyone trying their best to please.

Take it all back, the steaks were shocking, 1st 1 was tough they took it away, 2nd 1 came about 20mins later & was the same. Definitely avoid this place if u fancy a good steak 👎👎👎👎

Four of us had Sunday lunch. There was a choice of roasts and several vegetarian options. We all like what we had. Service was good and friendly. A slight misunderstanding meant that one of our party who had chosen a veggie meal was served later than the rest of us. We didn't complain but we were not charged for this person's meal.

I have visited couple of tones for lunch, always friendly staff, super value for money and food always amazing!! Cannot fault will be back!!

Called in Monday having read recent reviews. We are not from the area and were visiting a friend. This is a fabulous place to stop for good food and drink at very reasonable prices. The service we received was attentive and friendly. I had the steak and kidney pie, my guests the chicken and ham pie. All from the lunch menu, all delicious and filling.

This was our 4th visit as a family/with friends and we have never been disappointed. Plenty of choice on the menu including a substantial vegan option, great value for money. I had a Greek burger, hubby had a steak (cooked to perfection he said). Easily accessible being just off the Heads of the Valleys, easy to find. The staff here have always been friendly and welcoming making it a very relaxed atmosphere, lovely cosy pub/restaurant.

As usual, the Bridgend served us classic pub food, well cooked and at a very reasonable price. I’ve eaten here a few times for Sunday lunch and never been disappointed but I’m now keen to try this place for food in the week as well. A good sign is that it’s always busy on Sunday’s!

Plenty of parking at this restaurant /pub. Nice decor and greeted by friendly staff. Really recommended for food as everyone enjoyed their meals. Good size portions at a decent price. Would recommend.

A large birthday meal with 29 guests. All the food was served mostly together and with no complaints. Curry and the sirloin steak were excellent and superb value for money. Top place highly recommended.

This is an exceptionally priced venue located on the Heads of the Valleys road. The price for a Sunday lunch is amazingly good value, as are the drinks. While this is not haute cuisine, the food is characterised by cooking everything very well and coupling this with good service. We have been a number of times and never had a bad meal.

Need to book in advance to get a table but this is understandable with the quality of food. Never have a bad meal and the service is always great.

We are regular visitors to the Bridgend as we have family in the area. If you want a cheap and cheerful meal then you can’t go wrong. The team there are always very friendly and welcoming and the pub is always busy. The roast dinners are good with veg served separately so you can help yourself to create a portion to suit you. I had the chicken tikka and whilst there was plenty of it I did think it could do with a bit more meat in it an perhaps a popadom to go with the naan would have been a nice touch. The desserts were good but again would have preferred the cream in a small jug to apply myself as there was too much cream for my liking.

I ordered the day before, three meals and two deserts for my parents and I.

Considering where this place is located it serves up a decent meal, nice food with nice choice of drinks. Keep up the good work

David and Leigh run a great family pub the food is delicious and freshly prepared for you and the deserts are naughty but nice ,pay them a visit you won't be disappointed. Friendly and relaxed . 10/10 highly recommended.

Visited this Inn for my granddaughters birthday evening meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals without exception. The Hunters Chicken was exceptionally good.The portions were large and tasted great, along with the salad and chips. We were so impressed we went on another occasion and I had the same meal, again excellent. Would recommend the Inn to anyone. Cosy environment and pleasant staff.

David Evans the owner of this pub/restaurant & his staff couldn’t do enough for us during our celebration night and the run up to it. Best place to eat for miles around, warm & friendly atmosphere, highly recommend this lovely place, food is outstanding and at affordable prices.

Food was nice, but awful service. Went here for my daughter's 16th birthday and they forgot to cook her meal. So she had to sit and watch 15 family and friends eat their food while she waited for her's. By the time her meal arrived we had all finished. Sad to say I wouldn't eat here again and couldn't recommend to anyone, ruined the evening.

This place has got to be one of my favourite places to eat. since a few weeks before Christmas I have tried to book a table there and I've always been told that "we are full sorry". Today we tried nice nearly while the baby was still at the babysitters to get a tableto actually have a meal in peace without Peppa pig playing in the background.

Went to the Bridgend on the 30th November for a family meal celebrating an anniversary. As always everything was spot on, great meals and a good selection of drinks at the bar! Will be back again 5*

Booked in for a birthday meal there was around 20 of us. The service was ok - a few of the meals were wrong but these we quickly rectified. For example cheesy garlic bread ordered but plain garlic bread came out.

Just had a tbone off the specials board. For £17. And 16oz. It was absolutely marvellous. Service, quality of food. The welcome were all first class. Highly recommended.

Haven't been here for such a long time but booked by our friends who we were meeting there. Very busy, good service, friendly atmosphere. Sadly the steaks were not good, very disappointed and would not order these again.The rest of the food was decent pub grub and good value so would eat there again but opt for something else.

The Bridgend in Brynmawr is conveniently located just off the A465 heads of the valleys road, if you are a large group it's always best to book especially for evening meals. Food is nicely presented and servings are generous, I've always had good enjoyable food here, if your passing do call in and try it yourselves

First visit was for a 70th birthday - I cannot fault anything - we had the most amazing welcome and the decorations were done perfect - everyone of us were so pleased with the food - we cannot fault it - I would highly recommend the Bridgend to anyone!!! the welcome - the atmosphere - the welcome - the food - not one thing to complain about!!! Absolutely 10/10 for everything!!! we were that impressed we took our family there who were over from New Zealand - yet again - everything we cannot fault - a massive thank you to everyone for giving 2 amazing nights within 7 days!!!!

Just popped into my local for a take away sunday dinner. Once again it will take me 2 days to eat it. I call it the sunday/monday dinner simply because it lasts that long. If you can find me a bigger sunday dinner for the price they charge and with the same quality. I would love to ear about it. Cheers once again for top grub.

I have visited the Bridgend quite a few times over the years, never had a bad meal in there. Portions are well sized, presentation is fantastic, the prices are great. Only pub I would recommend in Brynmawr.

The Bridgend in Brynmawr is situated just off the Brynmawr roundabout, follow the sign for Beaufort. Food served here is good but it's a popular place and can be busy especially at peak times, best option is to book a table in advance. Enjoy the menu.

This was my second time visiting this establishment for a Sunday lunch. I had the chicken smothered in gravy with vegetables and chips. The food was fantastic. The bar staff is very friendly and the establishment is very clean and kept up nicely. I would recommend.

On many occasions, friends and family both gather here for a lovely meal and a social. It holds a warm welcoming feel and the food is beautiful! A lovely little place!

Booked a table for 12 family members tonight for my mother-in-laws 80th Birthday.

It’s been about 4 years since our last visit to the Bridgend pub. What a fabulous night we had for my Birthday.

We have eaten here on many occasions. With Sunday lunch, booking is advisable. We have had many Sunday lunches here and most have been enjoyable. Last meal we had was awful. Don't know why as we always had a beautiful lunch. We had hardly any meat as they had run out, the veg was cold, we were all served our lunch and my mother had to wait ten minutes for hers as they forgot! We have tried another restaurant for Sunday lunch and I don't want to be disrespectful but I don't think I will go back to this establishment for Sunday dinner as we have found better. Shame really as its a nice little local pub. Maybe evening meals would be ok....

Visited for lunch on bank holiday Monday. Table for 6 in the upper level which was comfortable and clean. Prawn cocktail starter with lots of prawns and sauce. Very nice. Steak deal of 2 sirloins for £20 excellent quality and value. Highly recommended.

Situated near the edge of Brynmawr, it i convenient for the major roads. Staff are very helpful and the meals tasty. Service is quick, and attentive. I'd go back again..

The Bridgend in Brynmawr has never failed to serve me enjoyable food, the menu is quite extensive and I've never failed to find something that I'd like to try. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, good beer accompanied with good food.

Had originally arranged this special event some weeks ago but it had to be cancelled because of the bad weather. New date was arranged without any problems and last night I had an excellent retirement party with 24 work mates. I had a fantastic evening and have to say how wonderful we were treated. Food, outstandingly good and ALL main meals arrived together, as did sweets. Excellent service from waitresses and bar staff. Considering that we were a fairly large group, I know from talking with my colleagues that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and we were well looked after. Thank you David and all the team at the Bridgend. As the saying goes- "I'll be back"

This establishment offers such fantastic value, portion sizes are huge and food fresh & always served piping hot which I love. Desserts are beautiful & home made and you can really tell the difference again such dedication put in for such great value. Lovely selection of drinks and staff friendly & helpful. A real jewel of the valleys.

Took my wife here for her birthday lunch, we had a main course, dessert and 2 drinks each. The bill came to a very lowly £28, excellent value for money. Will certainly return in the near future.

What a lovely meal, loads of choice on the menu and well price with lovely staff, excellent parking and same for the Stella.

15 of us booked in for a friends birthday and everything was on point. There was a few large groups in so we expected a little wait but nope we ordered all the starters came out together and then the mains came out about 10 minuets after finishing the starters. Staff as always were polite and had time to hold a short conversation with you and the food was perfect as always. Our favourite pub restaurant near us. See you soon.

26th oct: visited with 3 work colleagues at the end of a week of working in the town following a recommendation from the chef's mother. at first we are told there was no tables free then another member of staff said there was; so we were in! it was a thursday evening, the pub's curry night so we were in for a treat as we all ordered from the curry menu. i ordered the shared starter consisting of 3 different starters followed by a chicken madras with chips and poppadoms. the latter didn't turn up and i got a naan bread instead. it didn't bother me.....i eat food and nothing else! ha ha. apologies for the very old joke. with the curry included a free drink. we ordered 3 different sundae desserts to share/sample (what we do best). all the food was lovely and tasty. we will definitely come back.

After an extremely stressful and unexpected day we didn't want to have to cook. This is one of few places open on a Monday night locally. When we arrived it was fairly quiet but they were expecting a large party in. The meal we had was very tasty if not a little expensive for a Monday night. There were definitely cheaper options though. We both had steaks and they were expertly cooked as requested. The menu was very good including lighter options, vegetarian and a good selection of starters and desserts. The specials menu looked nice too. Would certainly recommend.

We had just arrived from Adelaide South Australia and my uncle took us to this quaint pub parking was bit hard but once inside food was great we were served quickly and the kids and I enjoyed a great lunch. There was heaps of selection and serving sizes were very good certainly worth a visit and service was really good. A very enjoyable first meal in South Wales.

Went here for a birthday meal on a Friday night,very busy with lots of big parties having meals.There were 8 of us in our party and we all ordered different things,considering how busy they were i think we only waited about halve hour for our food and they all came out together.The food was descent, but it didnt blow us away,but for what we paid it was ok. Would i go back again? Yes but not if it was for a really special occasion, but ok for just a bog standarded meal!

The attitude of the staff is just appalling. I'll never go back there again. The food isn't the best either.
