Friendly welcoming staff, good pub food. Stopped here for lunch after a walk along the River Barle. Kid friendly and has ikea high chairs. Doesn't have a baby change table.

Having just had a health scare we were looking forward to a couple of hours treat at this old favourite pub. Having lived in the area for the past 30 years we have visited The Bridge hundreds of times but now realise that we are maybe not the right sort of people that they are appealing to as it seemed to be full of London hedge fund managers bragging how much money they'd made in the last 5 minutes. The two young girls who initially served us were very polite & professional, the older lady behind the bar was appalling having a face like the wet weekend. We ordered a bottle of wine (£32.50), two burgers (£19.95 each), a fish pie and another couple of drinks and were given a bill of £130 for the privilege. Chips on the burgers were cold, the burger ordinary and small, the fish pie was served with Kale and that was it - £18.00 for a pie with some cheap veg. Now you may think that this is satisfactory for London or Bath and think that you can apply these prices in Somerset but I think you'll be in for a mighty shock come January when the London set have returned. Incredible prices for incredibly ordinary, high priced food - compared to £80.00 the last time we visited Wished we'd stayed at home.....

We ate here in late November and it was a great find. The vegan food was genuinely outstanding – far above any pub I have ever eaten in. Inventive dishes that had a lot of thought and a lot of flavour. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was really chilled and comfortable. Will absolutely return.

I recently visited the Bridge Inn,Dulverton and was immediately impressed by the refurbishment of the pub, hovever after a few minutes I was wondering whether it was actually a pub or a vets waiting room. There were dogs everywhere being patted ,fondled, drooled over intersperced with loud barking if another dog intruded on anothers territory. We moved into the verandah type area but in five minutes that was also overun with dogs, albeit better behaved. On leaving the couple that had the most pampered pooch were cradling it, well the male member anyway, was nursing the dog on his lap and actually encouraging the dog to feed from his plate on the table. Being a dog friendly pub is one thing but that is not acceptable where other people are eating, not to mention health and safety guidlines. A lot of pubs are dog friendly but quite often there is a seperate area where dogs are permitted and whilst I appreciate pubs are doing it tough at the moment,I don`t think dogs should be over indulged at the expense of other people who wish to eat in a normal non canine peaceful pub. For the people who will immediately label me as a dog hater, well I am not having several dogs of my own,but the dog had to fit in with me not the other way around.

Disappointed with the new makeover. It now has the atmosphere and appearance of a pub which is part of a chain, not the charm and individuality that the previous owners created. The food is now very expensive and not as much tasty as before.

Just as well we’d booked in advance as when I rang earlier to see if we could bring our booking forward we couldn’t! It was very busy!! The sign of a good pub! Such friendly staff. Excellent service; delicious food (tho v disappointed as they’d run out of the fish pie 😢😢) but great fish n chips and ham egg n chips. Good selection of draughty beers and ciders so all in all happy customers!

We dropped in without reservation towards the end of service for the Sunday roast and what a treat. They fitted the two of us in on a table with a comfortable padded bench. It may have been a wait for our orders to be taken but the two different roasts we had were really tasty. I had pork belly and girlfriend had nutroast. They sell the roasts and looking at the menu all mains in two sizes where you pay more for the larger and difference does go towards a pudding. We both had small roasts which was very sufficient, just a bit more gravy (common dilemma wherever you go). Aside, our dog is probably the least food oriented pooch going, gave it a little bit of belly pork and she was up sniffing and wondering if there was more, her timidity with other dogs around gone. As you gather this is a dog friendly pub, very dog friendly. After that, had dessert each, affogato and banoffee pie, both delicious. The espresso coffee was really good in any case. It is a St Austell pub so Tribute was on tap, plus local Somerset Exmoor Ales. Couldn't recommend this pub more. The downside was the service, just not enough staff, but what a job they did and we were never kept waiting too long. It is also a good looking pub inside and a great location by the river. Looks to have plenty of outside seating for when the weather is better. Parking out front.

Recently renovated by the parent brewery, nice decor but The Bridge Inn has unfortunately now lost all of its lovely character it used to have. No longer somewhere to settle into for the afternoon, seems to be now for passers by for a quick bite. Menu is very disappointing, a basic selection of ordinary pub classics, no longer any local meals and specialities. Does not currently cater for kids either on the menu, very few options. A real shame for what was our local heart of the village.

We were intrigued to try the new menu since The Bridge has reopened, and we were not disappointed - over the course of the last 2 rather indulgent celebratory days we have tried: Wiltshire Ham Hock Croquettes 12 Spice Deep Fried Tofu Bites Fish Pie Aubergine Rollatini Banoffie Pie Affogato Large Burger W/Bacon, Fries, Homeslaw Onion Rings All dishes were delicious and homemade, using good quality ingredients. The service was great. There are two options for the burger, small and large, not single or double patty. With the cost of living going up in all areas of life pubs are no different and dining/going out is becoming more of a lavish treat but we are so lucky that James and his team have the faith in Dulverton to take it on and keep it open and running. The Bridge Inn is the first establishment you see driving into the town and as a couple of caravaners we spoke to said its the first port of call after the long drive to get here and its great seeing it open and buzzing again. Next on our list, the ham egg and chips, hoisin belly pork bites, and the fish finger sandwich....the brownie, and the cheeseboard 😋😊

I don't want to sound pretentious, but I know my food and it was very clear to me that this team at the Bridge Inn also know theirs. The cooking was near perfect. We went along on reopening weekend and it was very busy, and even still, the meal for our party of 7 was fantastic. I had the burger and, in all honesty, it was THE best burger I've ever had. From now on all burgers are going to be measured against this excellent flavour celebration! Well done guys! Congratulations. I'll be traveling 4hrs to come back just for this food regularly.

What can we say it was a great gasto pub when it was in private hands, then a brewery took over, and the food went to ok. Had an OK lunch on Monday and on Thursday it closed! Whoever takes this over has a great pub, but they will need a fantastic chef to bring it back to the reputation it once had for food. Building and atmosphere are not a problem, but it's the food that makes the Bridge!

Not just a typical village pub. The setting was idyllic and the pub itself was warming in every way. The entrance led you straight into the main bar and revealed the cosiness that this pub just oozes. The staff were all smiling and quick to serve, and very polite. The service was great too and the wait for food was minimal considering they were quite busy. What did impress me was the menu. A separate vegan menu had been presented alongside the main menu. Very nice choices, varied and effort had clearly been made. It was nice to sit in a surrounding that made you feel like you were in someone farmhouse kitchen almost. Comfy seating, secluded table areas and some lovely decor. There was even a little library of pub and drink themed content (obviously). For me, it was the kind of place where everyone knows your name and locals all know each other, and strangers are made to feel local. Recommend a visit if your close by.
