The Brewery Tap PH in Vale of White Horse

Whilst visiting family in Abingdon, we always try to fit in a Sunday lunch in February to mark my birthday. The Brewery Tap is a great favourite, with an excellent choice of Roast meats on a Sunday, and childrens' meals too. A wide choice of real Ales, and a good wine list to swing any doubters. Highly recommend the Brewery Tap, if you don't try it you'll never know what you are missing.

Had a great Sunday roast Dinner. Vegetarian option with the carrots to die for. Cooked to perfection

We had a lovely meal here. The staff are very welcoming and funny and the pub is well-furnished and welcoming. We all had pies and they were absolutely delicious and came with plenty of sides. Puddings were also tasty!

We visited this pub and B&B for the first time. Apart from there being very little parking available on site, (although easy to find off road parking nearby) everything else about this pub is excellent. They serve a vast menu with very large portions, the staff attentiveness was great and we were made to feel very much at home. They have great real ales and my wife will say lovely wines too.The bar manager (I didn’t take his name) showed us to our room above the pub and was very polite and couldn’t help us enough.On the night we stayed there was live music, but didn’t affect our sleep/ stay. Even down to the housekeeping lady in the morning who was over helpful and very nice. This one has been marked down by me as one to return to. Brewery Tap you have a lovely place and amazingly friendly staff - look after them and you will reap the rewards. Thank you to you all 10/10

We read reviews and decided to book a roast on our short break from Kent. So glad we did. The roast dinner was superb. So much meat and plenty of different vegetables. The member of staff serving us was brilliant. Very attentive and what was nice was when you had finished your dinner he gave you plenty of time before asking about desserts so it gave us more time to make room for more. Have booked to go back before we go home to Kent.

The pub is amazing with a great selection of drinks and food. Really friendly staff. Food was good. The burger was large. The home smoked items were nice

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great and very decent portions of food. Big juicy ribs, excellent burgers, fish and chips and many more delicious dishes. They have a great selection of beers including the excellent HB Traunstein Bavarian lager and wheat beer . Most enjoyable lunch

The staff (all young) were very helpful on our visit with a dear friend who has mobility issues/ special needs. A cone was placed in the car park to enable her to reach the pub entrance with relative ease and the team took our order at the table. Ramped access to the disabled toilet was good. These little things made the whole experience enjoyable. Thank you!

A proper pub with a great atmosphere. The food that we had was delicious and a huge portion. There is a huge selection of beers of different types on tap and the ones that I tried were well kept. I will be visiting again.

The best pie ever! I had the lamb and mint pie which had huge chunks of lamb inside a beautiful pastry case. Excellent choice of sides to have with it (I had chunky chips and veg - again all beautifully cooked) and a jug of gravy on the side. The team at the Brewery Tap were attentive, welcoming and friendly.

Booked for 9people for my daughter birthday had to prebook roasts . Dinner was for 3pm has drinks dinner arrived at 3.45pm not all together either . No condiments on table had to ask and meals were not given all together. The plates were so hot was told not to touch them . Dinner Luke warm . Roast potatoes were so overcooked could not cut them as there was no potato inside . Dinner was as reheated. Staff must have known as they gave us a bowl of extra potatoes which were no different . The service was non existent and even had to pay £3 extra for Yorkshire pudding which was another thing that was reheated . I did write a review to Brewery Tap and literally invalidated my review and was patronising telling me basically me that I didn’t know how roast potatoes should be cooked . Having a pub myself and cooking food I do know how meals and service should be . Went in 2021 with friends and was not good now for my daughter birthday to see if changed as reviews were good . Was not going to put this on trip advisor as I don’t do this but reply from team from Brewery Tap was unapologetic, could not care attitude. Will not recommend or return even for a drink

We stumbled on the Brewery Tap last year while driving from the Lake District down to Winchester to visit friends. It was good then and last month while driving from Yorkshire we decided to pay a repeat visit for the Sunday roast. It was magic. I had the duck and my wife the lamb. Cooked to perfection. The staff was very helpful and although reservations were recommended they made a spot available for the two of us. Great up market pub atmosphere without being over the top.

after discovering i had booked for the wrong evening barman sorted out the drama and found us a vacant table - fantastic experience great selection of beers - great atmosphere - friendly chatty but not intrusive staff food absolutely first class. we went for a complete mix of starters which was brilliant. haloumi fries, whitebait , calamari, ribs and more sticky toffee pudding a must !

Best place for Sunday roast in Abingdon, child friendly and great service. The food is amazing and they sort me out with a doggy bag tupperware every time i ask for it.

The Brewery tap is a proper pub, it is great to meet friends and have a great time. Food omg don't ever bother. I am not a fan of a roast dinner, I never understand how anyone want to eat overcooked meat and veg boiled...

How is this Pub a Pub of the year! The service is so bad I wouldn’t recommend coming here. We had to wait over an hour for a Sunday roast & the excuse we got was “we just had two table of eight coming in”....

We visited just for drinks today, love the pub as it is traditional with a great range of drinks! The service was friendly, the fire was on creating a lovely atmosphere! Dog friendly too!

Went for lunch with a friend this past Friday and we both ordered the cauliflower and cheese soup (second time we visited the Brewery Tap and ordered the same soup). Both times we both said it was honestly the best soup we have ever had....

Sunday roasts are especially good need to book. Have net eaten here several times over the years and it never disappoints. Portions are decent - they aren’t trying to make up for anything with a giant portion, but you’ll definitely be full up. Good variance...

Excellent vibes! Everyone so welcoming and lovely and warm. The food is IMMENSE. I loved my brisket sandwich and my partner loved their fried chicken sandwich. Great that you can choose which side they come with . Would come again for sure!

Absolutely fantastic hostess with full table service. I had a Guinness followed by a chicken and mushroom pie with thick cut chips and peas with a wonderful gravy. My first visit here and definitely not my last!

We had Beef Burgers and Veggie Burgers, both were exceptionally good, the chips as well. The atmosphere both in the pub and outside on the terrace was very nice, service was good as well.

We have visited this place on a few occasions for the Sunday roast, it is very satisfying and the service is always top drawer. It’s just over an hour away from us but we go there about 4 times a year for a lovely day...

I enjoy my lunches at The Tap, Something for everyone on the menu with beautifully cooked and well presented food. This is a very well run independent pub with a great atmosphere, spotlessly clean and proper bang for yer buck!

Walked up here from my hotel, looking forward to some craft beers. Although the selection of draft was quite extensive, there wasn't much that you couldn't get anywhere else. Such a shame as the pub itself was nice and cosy.

We are happy with our stay at the Brewery tap. The rooms are lovely and clean (even anti bac in the rooms) We must say the staff are friendly especially Flora she has made our stay ever better. Great pub overall

We returned to eat here on 19 January. We enjoyed their steak and kidney pudding, sweet potato fries, peas and broccoli and their pork shoulder platter with fries, coleslaw, Boston beans and Texas toast. All excellent.

Table booked for 7pm food pre ordered. Did not get starters until after 8pm. Mains took a further hour, despite us asking several times to be told it's coming.They did agree to waive drinks because of the delays but we had already bought and paid for 2 rounds when we first arrived.The food on whole was excellent although calamari starter was slightly overcooked. Because we had had drinks whilst we were waiting did not finish all the mains which was a shame

I met an old school friend here a few monts ago and it was so good it was the automatic choice when we met up again. Amazing food, try the Vegetable pithiver pie.

We were staying one night after fireworks at Abingdon airfield (fabulous). We had a really nice lunch in the bar before checking in. Then we wandered around Abingdon which has some lovely buildings. On our return there were no car parking spaces so a member of staff moved his car for us. We were told the live band playing that night would finish around midnight which they did. We could hear them from our room and they sounded great. After that it was quiet and we slept well. Room was lovely but bathroom a bit cold. Hot drinks machine and breakfast items available in the corridor suited us. The staff were all really lovely and helpful and we would stay again.

Amazing Sunday lunch! Great atmosphere, quick service. Food was to die for. Great roast meat and veg topped with fabulous gravy…. Took the short cut back to the car and went home for a nap! Awesome!

We were staying at Abingdon and went on google maps to find some food places .. the brewery tap was about 3/4 mile from our hotel .. we had a wander on a lovely warm night and when we got there were welcomed with a warm smile and good info .. take this, read that, find a table and we will do the restSat down, ordered some ciders and food .. wait time was about 20 mins for fresh made food .. excellent serviceI had a platter and my partmer had a JD burger .. well, to say we were stuffed at the end of it was an understatement .. the 3/4 mile walk back to the hotel was neededWhat a great meal in a lovely place with atmosphere, great staff and lovely surroundingsThis is one of lifes little gems you find every now and again .. recommend for anyone wanting great fresh made food at a great price

Are here twice during our long weekend away. All our meals were excellent - the pies are very tasty as was the salad. Extensive choice of beers and ciders. Service was very friendly

Visited with family, 5 adults, 2 children in total. Enjoyed Roast lamb and Roast beef , including one child's portion. Grandson chose chicken nuggets, his default with chips and ketchup. Superb food , great service and very good value. Very busy as not long opened for inside dining post C Virus. Very pleased all round, highly recommend. A few coffees, and one or two desserts , too.

Meal was good, service excellent. Impressed that when we asked for the music to be turned down it was switched off. Bliss for a hearing-aid wearer!

Went on fathers day to this pub. Good selection of beer and cider and pleasant beer garden which we moved into after being given a table which would have been very busy( like Picadilly junction). Staff very amenable. The food we ordered differed in quality and warmth. The pork roast was enjoyed by two of us. Did not come with a pudding as standard which was rather mean as the pub charged an extra £1.50. Two of us had had the roast beef but the vegetables we were given were tepid or almost cold. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ANY PLACE CHARGING £15 FOR A ROAST DINNER ONLY TO SERVE COLD OR VERY LUKE WARM VEGETABLES. The vegetables on the plate included not very good roast potatoes far inferior to those served at Buckingham Garden Centre! In short whilst we would return to this pub for the beer and cider we would stay clear of the overpriced and very average roast beef. The pork roast eaters did have a better view than the roast beef dinner eaters. Nice staff but no good staff are no substitute for average food. if you are really hungry you may forget the quality but at £15 a plate it is was far inferior to most roasts we have eaten over the last year.

The food is exceptional and has been consistently so. We're never let down. We enjoy the local crowd, all friendly, nice people, and the staff is super as well. It is a bit more costly here, but you just come away happy. Loving that the gigs are back as well. Well done Crew!!

Visited for lunch today,15 of us adults and children. We booked outside and despite torrential rain we were warm and dry.servuce was excellent,staff really friendly and attentive. We had a range of meals and no complaints with food. Good value as portions were huge!Will return,thank you guys! A lovely experience xx

First visit to this pub for a family meal for 15 adults and children. Ate outdoors in their sheltered wooden dining area as there were too many of us to eat inside. I was a bit worried about this as it had been wet and windy, but needn't have worried as we were well sheltered from the wind and rain, and there were heaters to keep us warm.My starters were Crackling and Pigs in Blankets with an Apple Sauce as a dip. Bit unusual but delicious the Crackling melted in the mouth and the Pigs were larger than you would normally expect .The main was Beef Brisket, Fries, Coleslaw and Boston Beans. All perfectly cooked, large portion couldn't fault it, particularly enjoyed the beans.Everyone in the party enjoyed their meals and there was not a single complaint from any of the 15.Ryan looked after us very well and was a real star.We shall return.

Crap service asked for a menu but never got asked if we wanted something so never bothered and got a take away instead.

Visiting the area and decided to stop here for dinner. Just looked like a bog standard pub. However how wrong could I be, the food was out of this world. Service was also very good. Highly recommend. 5*

Disappointed in the lack of social distancing - I was sat less than a metre from the next table - tables were not cleaned between customers - noise level was intolerable with people shouting over each other - very very disappointing visit with clear breaches of COVID guidelines...food was lovely however, but ears are still ringing!

Lovely pub! There were 6 of us in our party plus 3 dogs that the pub was happy to include. The food was great. Whitebait for starter was spot on, 2 of the party had the Fish pie and enjoyed the fact that the sauce was on the side. I had the yummy Pork Shoulder with delicious mac ‘n’ cheese as a side. Another party member had the Savannah’s Jerk Chicken, which unfortunately, according to him was missing a bit of jerk!!!All in all, great evening meal - staff were very helpful, happy to mix and match food/sides as we requested and great choice of beers.The only reason I have dropped a star is the minimal Social distancing and lack of Track and Trace. It is a small pub and it was our decision to stay but maybe an issue for some people!

Really good lunch time menu & the food didn't disappoint it was lovely. The real seller for this pub was the fantastic friendly staff. We went on a Saturday afternoon and they were busy but very attentive.

Food here was amazing as always and I would highly recommend, it’s a great pub and I feel lucky to have it on my doorstep. The only issue is at the moment it is a small pub and I appreciate a little limited on the Covid safety measures it can implement however it is like the pandemic never happened once you step inside so if you’re nervous about this or have health concerns it may be better to wait.

This is one of our favourite pubs in Abingdon so we were very disappointed this evening when we decided to go there for a drink to find that there didn’t seem to be any efforts towards encouraging distancing etc going on. The place was quite full, didn’t seem like any tables had been removed, people up at the bar, no one at the door taking details... needless to say, we turned around and left. I understand that the pub needs to make money and try to make back some of the earnings lost due to lockdown but they could take some extra steps to help ensure that life can continue safely. As for all the people in the pub, why they weren’t at least heading out to the garden I don’t understand.

Very welcoming pub with good choice of ales and lunchtime grub -- a godsend after a very poor experience at another Abingdon pub earlier in the day.

We visited today for lunch, arriving just after opening time. We were surprised to see no screens in place at the bar to protect staff/customers. They also didn't take our details as part of the track and trace scheme which was surprising. We perused the menu and ordered a halloumi starter with an additional pork crackling. For mains we ordered a burger with added cheese & bacon and a beef bourguignon pie with vegetables and sweet potato pies. The starters were delicious and could not be faulted.We then saw a man sit at the bar and order a pint which is against government guidelines. I appreciate it is only a guideline but surely pubs should take some responsibility in controlling the virus by adapting some of the guidelines.The mains then arrived and were spot on other than the cheddar cheese opted for as an extra was missing, couldn't be bothered to complain. The burger was delicious and my wife enjoyed the pie.Another customer then came in and sat with the man at the bar. They sat together and drank a pint together with bar staff stood close talking. Again, another breach of guidelines. The only hand sanitiser I saw in the pub was in a bottle on the bar, both these men were in the way so you couldn't get to it even if you wanted to.For dessert we ordered an Eton mess and a chocolate brownie. There were also prefect. As always 5 star food! But 0 stars for efforts in keeping the customers and staff safe from the Covid pandemic. I appreciate a lot of the extra cleaning/precautions is optional but surely you want to do your part in protecting the customers??

Bar very quiet at opening, but soon started filling up, so had a good atmosphere. Good choice of beers available. Had the House Platter with Mac'n'cheese. Excellent pulled pork, smoked sausage and brisket in platter, served with fries. One of us had fish pie which was delicious.Plenty of hand sanitizer around the place for customers to use. Staff very friendly.

Called in without booking. A welcoming reception, good selection of beers available and an extensive menu available, as well as specials. Place was clean and the atmosphere 'old pub'. The food was excellent, the staff pleasant and prices, though not cheap, were reasonable for what was served. We will be back and happy to recommend it if you are in the area. Its a short walk from the town centre.

Great choice of food - all freshly cooked. I am vegan and had a choice! My partner had the slow roasted beef and thought it was fantastic. We stayed overnight and found the room very comfortable. Quirky pub with helpful, happy staff.

We’ve recently moved to Abingdon and been here twice, first time for a mixed platter one lunchtime it was great, worthy of 4 stars plus. But a very different experience for Sunday lunch. Staff appeared less welcoming, but by no means bad, but the Sunday Lunch was bang average. Beef which tasted like cardboard and dry (maybe reheated) Yorkshires.We’ll perhaps put it down as a one off, potentially with seasonal staff and we’ll try again. But very disappointing.

We pitched up (reservations essential) for our Sunday roast - and what a feast.Excellent quality meat (the pork was superb, with little squares of scratchings), good potatoes (could have coped with one more), fine beer to accompany (a pint of Bridge is only bettered by a second one) and a nice buzz, with roaring fire.This is a pub where the food quality is impressive, though it can get a bit chaotic at peak times.There are veggie options too. If I was ordering again, I'd definitely have a Yorkshire pud. I looked enviously at my companion's, who refused to share!

Party of 4 friends booked a table (booking is a must!) for Sunday lunch and all had the turkey. Absolutely beautiful, piping hot and very tasty. Excellent value for money in a proper pub with open log fire and lovely atmosphere.

I booked the Brewery Tap for a Christmas party for 15 people, great communication about the booking and the team made it really easy for me to preorder. When we arrived we found we had the whole back room to ourselves, with lots of decorations and cracker scattered around the table. The food was excellent, I had the crispy beef followed by roast turkey with all the trimmings, including the unexpected but fabulous addition of a confit duck leg on the plate - great touch. Everyone enjoyed their food in a relaxed and unrushed manner. The service was excellent throughout, even to the point of using the preorder I'd sent through to announce peoples names and what they had ordered , saving the usual chaos of a preordered meal.Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service and not forgetting the magnificent selection of beers and drinks available. Top job all round and I'd highly recommend the Brewery Tap for any sort of event. 

Two years since my last visit and I'm still in love with this place! Lovely and authentic pub grub (the pie is superb) and the selection of cask ale is very good. They also have some more modern style beer, I had a very nice and hoppy US style IPA after I had gone through all of their cask ales.

Popped for a drink and saw some nice looking meals coming out, asked if there was a table for us. The staff could not of been more helpful. they managed to fit us in. We had beef roast dinners. Loads of meat. Would definitely visit again

Met with a frend here because it was half-way between our homes. It has won accolades for being the best in ts class locally, and desevedly so. It's an old-fashioned pub but the atmosphere inside is lovely, with a roaring log fire. Staff were very friendly. Food menu is american diner style: ribs, pulled pork and brisket, burgers etc., plus traditional pies. So much choice we had difficulty deciding. When it came we were very pleased with the food. Very ;large portions, well cooked and very tasty. Good range of drinks (it's a "CAMRA" pub), and well frequented by appreciative locals. It has a few rooms if you want to stay.Beware, though, that parking is very limited, at the side of the pub,

We have visited The Brewery Tap a few times times recently, it is in our opinion the best in Abingdon.

We visited last night for drinks and ended up spending most of the evening in the Brewery Tap. The pub is cosy, friendly and has the best range of drinks available in Abingdon.

Staying in Abingdon overnight and stopped by this great local pub. Lovely staff and an amazing range of drinks. The menu looks great - we'll be sure to stop and try the food.

Such a shame !! Our group of 13 who had pre-booked our food were disappointed by the lack of service here.

Came here for lunch with the family. Good size portions at surprisingly reasonable prices. Will return, do recommend.

Although Abingdon is well served by pubs the Brewery Tap is by far the best. The bar is well staffed and so you never have to wait long. This is manna from heaven for ale drinkers. They also have a try before you buy policy as the ales are often changing and sometimes obscure. Ample seating inside and out. Food is served promptly and is delicious - we opted for ribs (good) and fried chicken (excellent).

I'm effectively a regular at the Tap, as I'm in there at least once a week, but that has nothing to do with this review, and nor does that impact upon my impartiality here.

Two visits: first one, service efficient and food great; second time, service crap (went to bar to order after waiting 20 mins) and then waited 30 mins for the food (reason given ? They had some big parties ... somewhere as we didn’t see any).

The food and range of ales here is consistently very good, and the service friendly and efficient. If you are eating, be sure to check the specials board, and if the trio of lamb chops is on offer, you really should have them. Superb value.

Can always be relied upon. They use good ingredients, my preferences are for their slow cooked options - always very tender and tasty. Mid range on price. Decent real ales on offer.

Went here after a long walk on the Thames Path. An excellent range of real ales and I really enjoyed my Beef Brisket. The food isn't that cheap but it's definitely a cut above the "chain" pubs in quality.

We went for a drink first to see what this place was like. There is a good mixture of ages and dogs are allowed in. The bar staff are very friendly and seem to work as a good team. We returned to eat and we were not disappointed. The portions are generous and the food is very good quality. We had a Ranch salad which was very fresh and tasty, and a chicken and mushroom pie which was superb! The pastry was yummy and the filling was vast. The loos were very clean and accessible. This is a Camra pub and there were many real ales on offer. This pub is definitely worth a visit.

From the outside, this looks like a dull old town centre pub where you might get scampi and chips on a good day, but in fact the food was brilliant - a really good selection on a varied and exciting menu. The service was really friendly and helpful too.

This is the best pub in Abingdon hands down. Friendly staff, great food and beers. Owners know what they’re doing. Highly recommended

A group of friends and I visited for Sunday lunch and everyone had a good meal. One person with a small appetite was wishing for a small plate option. The meat and vegetables was perfectly cooked and service was prompt with friendly staff. Overall excellent food and value for money.

Friendly punters, nice staff and great bands that give it loads anytime we've ever been in. Very comfortable with nice outdoor space out the back and inside plenty of nooks and crannies.

Fantastic night, packed out so little wait for drinks but plenty of staff all doing there best. Great food and the band were fab
