F A B U L O U S. Have been to the Brewers many times now, if I am visiting friends in Leavenheath. (I live in Greece) Their Sunday Lunch is wonderful and 1st Sunday in the month had roast Lamb on the menu. Both the beef and Lamb were to die for. Beautifully cooked. As for their Apple Pie..... well... should receive a Nobel Prize for desserts. Can't wait until I am in the UK again and can visit the Brewers in Hadleiigh. The staff are lovely, attentive and excellent service. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I cannot fault the meals me and my husband have enjoyed whilst holidaying at Polstead country park campsite, only 10 minutes walk away. from the Brewers arms. I've had the fish and chips, the steak pie and my husband had the chicken ceasar salad and fish pie. We both had the carvery today, we did book a table for all meals and the service was very prompt.

We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime as part of a walk from the Polstead Country Park to. Oxford. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and shown to our table, not pre-booked. The menu was sufficient, with a good choice. We decided to have a two-course seniors meal each; my wife having the pie of the day and I had the carvery. Both were lovely, the carvery having a really good choice of vegetables, with three meats and a vegetarian option available. To finish, we both had apple pie and custard. The quality of the food was really good and the portions perfectly reasonable for a senior’s menu. We both felt that this establishment is worth a recommendation.

Excellent pub lunch with carvery as well as a very comprehensive menu. Food was well cooked and our party of 4 including a veggie were very pleased with their meals. Tables well placed and large car park with children’s play area and outside tables in garden area made the arrival experience better than expected. Staff were very nice to deal with and very good at restaurant service. Landlord deserves credit for getting it right. Several en suite rooms available. Overall, best pub lunch since Covid lockdown. Will visit again soon.

The most disappointing welcome I’ve experienced at any establishment over many years. Treated the older patron with no respect whatsoever. Complained that we asked if we could have food, stated twice that the senior citizens couldn’t make a decision on what they wanted and moved on to the next customer. Despite informing us he was too busy to serve us food, literally 10 minutes later a friendly female member of staff advised us that we could have food if required. Not the customer service we would expect, when only a week earlier we had spent a tidy amount of money in his establishment.

Hubbys best ever mixed grill. Vegan and vegetarian selection as well. I had the butternut squash tart. Play area for kids, they also had a bouncey castle. Sanitizer everywhere. They also have rooms which I can't vouch for, based on the over all presence of the pub I would imagine are just as nice.If passing that way again definately would make a stop here.

Firstly, what a beautifully presented interior and garden. However, very disappointed by the carvery today and the rudeness of the man who served me.I requested beef as do not eat turkey and do not really consider gammon as a traditional roast. When he carved the beef if was red and I said 'oh, thats a bit undercooked for me' he just glared at me so I said oh dont worry. Trust me, he wasn't! As I went to put the vegetables on, I noticed the plate was dirty. A lady came over , I assumed landlady and I showed her the dirty plate. She was lovely, apologised and said she would get it changed and get him to come out and carve again. He came out and said, turkey, gammon, beef. I once again requested beef in the hope it maybe slightly better but it was even more red. I said 'I'm sorry I just can't eat that' His response was 'what do you expect ' when I said, I thought it maybe less red thd further along you got, he made gestures with his knife on the joint and said its all the same, might be a bit better that end, so what you going to do. I requested gammon, he scraped the beef off the plate and sliced gammon placing it on there instead. The lady came accross to my table and asked if everything was okay, I told her I found the man very rude and was not happy and why. She asked me if I wanted to choose something else and I saud I would. The man then arrived at the table, he was not apologetic in fact confrontational. 'You chose beef, you didnt like the colour, I gave you a second chance and you chose beef again, I can go and warm it through to reduce the redness.I accepted. It was that or tell him to his face how rude I found him but this was an important family occasion and by this time we all felt uncomfortable. When I got my meal, the whole thing was tasteless, even the gravy, thick lumpy and no flavour. All other family members were very happy with their meals apart from the chips which were soggy and appeared old. The experience for me was not a good one, the sorbet after was a delight and as mentioned before what a lovely place but very rarely has a man almost reduced me to tears from the outset by his manner and attitude.

Carvery only on a Sunday and although regular weekday visitors we had not tried before. No concerns though as the meal was excellent with very generous proportions. Choice of beef, gammon & turkey plus nut roast, all were excellent, with a plentiful choice of veg. A special mention for the roast potatoes, crunchy on the outside and beautifully floury on the inside, yummy. A great selection of sweets all served with either cream, ice cream or custard. Service as usual couldn't be better. This is a great pub for couples & families and this time of year has a lovely christmassy atmosphere.

He asked for his steak to be medium rare, it was more well done and he could not get his knife through the pork because it was like a board - it was left. He complained to two waitresses. No "school dinner-type queueing" - you are asked to go up when they are ready for you, which in our case was about two minutes after we sat down, because we chose to forego starters. Thank goodness we did because the meal was just delicious, scrumptious and hot too! I have only one criticism - can you not have cheese sauce somewhere in amongst everything else? Not necessarily on any of the veg, cos I know not everyone likes it, but separately?

Unfriendly barman in serious need of acquiring some “people skills” made us feel extremely unwelcome. Would have ruined an otherwise lovely evening if we’d stayed for food but was pleased to move on. Avoid unless your pleasure is rudeness!!!!

We called in mid-week and thoroughly enjoyed a 'seniors' meal of starter and carvery. It was all well presented and very tasty. All the staff had a pleasant, friendly manner so the whole experience was good.

We recently stayed nearby for New Year and ate here a few times. All times the staff were pleasant and the food edible. No complaints from us, the 3 times we are there. New Years Eve was a good evening with buffet, disco and fireworks....

On arrival we were told that our booking was for 12.45 not 1.30 as I had thought ,luckily this didn't seem to be a problem .Our order was taken quite quickly and the waitress was helpful in respect of gluten free food for my husband who is a Coeliac .My choice of Steak and stilton pudding was tasty ,my sisters fish and chips looked nice .My husband's choice of Pork hock I believe was very tasty but uninspiring as it was served with mash and peas .A few other vegetables would have made it a better dish .My Nephew had steak (not a particularly nice one ) and it was served with chips, peas and half a tomato.A few onion rings and maybe a mushroom or two would again have improved this meal .Not sure we would go there again .

The food was nice however unfortunately I did feel that the service could have been better. Having been recommended I was looking forward to celebrating my husbands 50th with friends and family and booked at table for 10 of us at 2pm. I was not aware that only carvery was available as the main course until 3pm. If I had have known this I would have booked for later. Upon querying I then established that our table was needed again at 4. Again unaware of this and felt under pressure to eat and leave.

We've lived in the area for nearly 10 years and in that time have tried this place a few times on the hope it's improved, but sadly it just never quite cuts the mustard I'm afraid to say.

Don't make the mistake in thinking this is another chain pub with microwave food. The staff were genuine and friendly. We both had a starter, mains, a side and a couple of drinks. All this came to £44 which considering the generous portion sizes was very fair. The food itself was great, proper chips, very tasty, best I've had in a very long time. Definalty going back.

We are locals and have recently started visiting this pub again. The food is delicious, the staff friendly and I'm so pleased to see this village pub doing so well again! Lots of hard work by the owners, creating a fantastic atmosphere and welcoming pub. It's well worth a visit, excellent home made curries, carvery and classic pub favourites. A great place for families/couples/ singles. Pop in, you won't regret it!

We stopped here for a carvery last Sunday, as it was sunny and we had the dog with us we sat outside for lunch. The meal was perfect, the roast beef was so tender, the veg not overcooked and lovely thick gravy. Service was great, even when the restaurant was full we weren't forgotten outside. Good value for money and I would return.

I am sure the food and service are excellent. The one beer I had there was great. However at 10 to 10 other customers had left and all three staff started hovering. When I asked if they wanted to close up (the person I assume is the owner) was very direct and made it clear they wanted me to go as soon as possible and there was not a hint of a chance of a second drink. This then is a restaurant in the premises of a pub. As long as you are clear about this I am sure you will enjoy it.

Giving this a 3 but it was purely the delay and apparent chaos in the kitchen. It appeared that they had misjudged the impact of COVID and the eat out to help out scheme. The food when it came was delicious but there was confusion over what items were still in the menu- they ran out of a number of things. But at all times we were kept informed and apologies were numerous . Think it was just bad timing and that once the current COVID climate settles down that this will revert to being a 5 review. Garden was lovely to sit in and eat in- well spaced out tables inside

Cameo Hotel Copdocklocation-iconLondon RoadBritish

We went at a very quiet time on a Sunday so had the reduced menu. We were quick to make our order however they were very slow with food and drinks. The waitress was unsure of the menu and what the meals consisted of, when she asked a colleague, they were rude and dismissive. When we were waiting, we were asked what we were waiting for? Understand being forgotten about on a busy night but it was just us and one other table. The coke was flat, the spoon was dirty. The haddock and mash was OK but didn’t make up for the slow and rude service. Overpriced. One waitress recommended to another customer to use Just Eat and we wish we did too.

We came across this little tea room in the historic village of Lavenham. The staff were friendly and there is a wide selection of delicious cakes. Portion size is good and teapot contains more than enough tea for three cups each. For those with four legged friends the place is dog friendly. Would be a regular customer, if not living so far away
