The Boudingait in Fife

We arrived for a casual drink. We were met by a convivial host and attentive staff that were able to advise on recommendations for our choices. We ended up staying for a meal (booking recommended as we were very lucky) as the menu looked good and the dishes coming from the kitchen looked even better! We then read in the Courier we were in venue that was actually in the weekend supplement we were reading. A fantastic ‘real pub’ in the heart of the Kingdom that didn’t disappoint.

I first graced the steps of this place in 2019. Wowsers to the changes. To call it a ‘gastro-pub’ is detrimental. It appears that three fabulous ladies run it now. Correct me if I’m wrong. I popped in for some beverages but ended up staying until supper. Extremely surprised that they have a 100% vegan option. Spicy, zingy and mouthwatering green lentil and five bean chilli. Proper comfort food in an ample portion. Like me, they don’t like food waste. So I have a carton of leftovers. Non alcoholic drinks by request. Fabulous non-alcoholic gin with elderflower cordial, dash of sugar syrup, lime and mmmmmm lemon too 🍹💖 I love fine dining but this fabulously run place is homely, comfy and fun! Plus your well behaved dog is kept amused and made to feel like gold. Such a cordial welcome. No airs or graces. Dress up or just be casual. Just come as you are. The only place where well behaved dogs are allowed in Cupar. Cozy and lighthearted atmosphere where the only requirement for entrance is “wearing clothes.” Offering water in a dog bowl for your pup. I could go on but with so many small places having to close for good, this wee establishment has lasted. Could have stayed until closing but we were totally shattered and Biggles is snoozing away. We booked a lunchtime slot following a dog walk. The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly, the staff are attentive. The Steak Pie was excellent as were the Fish and Chips. The Macgregor Red Ale was so good that I just had to have a second one, just to confirm my first impression. We will be returning.

Great tasty food with helpful and quick service. On our visits we have had the fish and chips, steak pie, scampi and bacon and cheese burger all absolutely excellent and served with well cooked thick cut chips. Perfect for a pub lunch and drink.

A fantastic Christmas lunch!! Restaurant was extremely busy, and I know they had some timings issues, but we had an amazing time! Food was great, the wine and champagne flowed and a great lunch was enjoyed. All without having to do the washing up afterwards. Would recommend!!

We arrived as a table of 9 which included a toddler. The food and service were great and the atmosphere was brilliant Staff were extremely helpful this is a lovely place to eat, would definitely go again.

Had Christmas dinner two weeks in a row at the Boudingait. Both times all three courses were excellent. Food was really fresh and very tasty, the ambience was lovely and the staff were so friendly and very helpful. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal! Thank you so much!

As a group of 8 we booked lunch from the christmas menu. We pre ordered our meals, very quick service for drinks, and food followed quickly. The portions were enormous. Everybody commented how good it all was. I had pate, beef stew and dumplings, The beef was so tender. I couldnt even finish a third of it. The staff member kindly offered a doggy box to take it home. Desserts were gorgeous. Very good value and of course we will be back.

The Boudingait offers a laid back, friendly and welcoming atmosphere which is simply ideal for an informal meet up with friends or family. Although we live in Glenrothes the short drive to Cupar is well worth it. A great selection of beers, with and without alcohol, plus a fine stock of wines and spirits allows the customers to sit and relax while pondering the menu. It was busy for a Thursday evening but the staff were engaging, professional and a good laugh. The menu isn’t vast but it offers enough choice to allow the diner to think about what to have. You can’t help but like this establishment and relax and use it as a bloody good place to spend quality time with friends. Good value for money too, overall a “wee gem”.

Wow what a fabulous place this is ! From the warm friendly welcome from Shaun to the excellent food , huge portions , great value and lovely surroundings all magnificent (the gravy was to die for ❤️) And they offer roast dinner for doggies too. Would highly recommend
