Staying at The Gigha Hotel, we noticed the restaurant as we departed the CalMac ferry on arrival to Gigha. A last minute booking on a busy Friday night, Carly squeezed us in for dinner. We were delighted, as we saw it so busy and full of atmosphere earlier. The Smoked Halibut, the Gigha speciality, is a MUST! Beautifully presented on a board, with delicious bread. Mouthwatering. Some of the very fresh fish had been sold out, but we enjoyed the Exceptional BoatHouse Fish Curry and Seafood linguine. The sweet combination of banana parfait, peanut ice cream, raspberries etc ( see pic) was an exquisite end to a first class meal. Wine delicious and well priced. Highly recommend: we made a fabulous choice. Staff are very friendly and professional, with good menu knowledge. Carly and Sinead in particular, made our evening.

The Colintraive Hotel

18/08/2018: I booked two nights at the hotel to celebrate my husbands 65th Birthday.......and of course I thought he deserved the best room! I booked the Attenborough room ...with king size bed...... and views over the Kyles of Bute! Wonderful room....large walk in shower in the bathroom...plenty of drawers and hanging space. Patricia the owner was very friendly and gave us information where to go in the area. The first night we had scallops and langoustines followed by steamed haddock and fish pie. Second night....mushrooms and goats cheese, prawn cocktail followed by steak pie and seafood linguine.....all the meals were excellent! On his birthday we just walked around nearby and visited the beautiful community garden and the very interesting heritage centre...then to Milton Wood which is privately owned...but the owners allow you to visit. Then drove a few miles along the single track road on Loch Riddon. It was lovely to relax and have the day off from travelling.
10/11/2018: We took the short ferry ride on foot from Bute (5 minutes journey and every half hour) to get here.

Brambles Guest House

02/09/2018: On a busy Saturday morning, we ordered full breakfasts and they came very quickly. The ingredients were good but I found them a little greasy. My partner disagreed, to be fair. We bought fruit scones to eat later and they were really disappointing. I think the baker forgot to add sugar as they just tasted bland. We ate them the next day and they were already stale. £25 for two breakfasts with tea and two scones is quite expensive. It was good but perhaps a little overpriced, even for Inverary.
06/09/2018: We shared a blueberry and lemon cake, and a blackberry and apple pie and both were absolutely superb. Excellent service and the decor is rustic and really interesting. Whenever we are back on Inveraray we will return to this cafe.
