28-May-23: Visited for drinks on a warm Sunday during a Thames Path Walk. Nice welcome. Good drinks. Comfy seating. Had other plans for lunch so didn't eat here but the menu looked fab. Would happily return and next time would stop for lunch.

Good pub food well priced for London , lively atmosphere in the bar , and restaurant serves the same food but quieter . Good service and friendly staff. Great alternative to pricey hotel food where we were staying.

Op een vrijdagavond langsgeweest: live music, aardig personeel, leuke menukaart (Thais georiënteerd) en uiteraard genoeg te drinken. Eten was prima, een klein misverstandje over één gerecht snel naar tevredenheid opgelost en redelijk geprijsd. Eind september nog net mogelijk om buiten te zitten

Was walking past on a Saturday afternoon and popped in for a pint. It is was a lovely old pub with great character what with the wooden panneling on the walls and black and white pictures. It wasn't very busy but assume they fill up a bit in the evening with people coming in for their blend of English & Thai food. They had WIFi which was easy to log into and served a super cold lager. Would definatly go again.

Visited The Blacksmith Arms on a Friday night. Very friendly, busy local pub which is very close to the Doubletree Hilton where we were staying. Fantastic atmosphere with the live music. Very busy with locals and tourists alike. The food was excellent as was the service and the general running of the pub. Will definitely return on our next visit to London.

We arrived after the kitchen had closed (on a Sunday night!) but were still welcomed with open arms (AND swiftly served our glass of wine and pint ‘n fish ‘n chips!). Very friendly staff - and Landlord - in short a great base from which to explore Rotherhithe (or the Docklands) and very handy for anyone staying at the Hilton up the road (which we were). A REAL London Pub to come home to!

Our need for a late lunch and a pint on a Saturday had us looking for something good. Canary Wharf is mostly tourist and business-focused, but we wanted something more local. This pub definitely filled the bill. The barkeeps were very friendly and helpful. The food (sausage and mash; a side of chips) were very well presented and delicious. The overall atmosphere is great and the decor has that perfect touch if classic and comfort. Aside from the fact that the tap is rather limited and they didnt have BT Sports (so no footy on a Saturday afternoon?!), we still would recommend.

This pub is my local and wow am I blessed to have such a delightful pub just around the corner! It’s got a wonderful ambiance and is truly a gathering place for the neighborhood, but also a great spot for visitors. Great cocktails (including alcohol free G&T) and beers. The highlight for me is absolutely the Thai food. They have a legit Thai chef (!!!) and excellent gluten free options. As a coeliac/celiac I have eaten here several times and never gotten sick. The staff are so careful with allergens and I always feel taken care of. Can’t recommend enough.

We felt welcomed right away with warm friendly service by Stevie! She is an absolute gem with a sparkle in her eyes and lovely bright smile. She answered our questions well, gave great suggestions and served everything with ease and kindness. The food was second to none! The atmosphere had the feel of a great pub with happy faces enjoying drinks and conversation with the option to dine in the back room which is cozy and nicely decorated. To my shame, I’ve lived in Rotherhithe for 16 years and never entered this pub! Although, the look of the pub was appealing, the ambience, in the past, was not! It must have changed hands though because the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful;The food was good; the outside garden was charming and the inside, which had a few patrons but was not busy looked really cosy and comfortable. We will definitely come back to try their Sunday roast!

Stopped in for a drink on our walk along the Thames path and were wholly impressed by their Covid prep. Socially distanced ordering, great memory of what’s on tap and seamless payment. Also great friendly service, good music which made it almost feel like normal!

Just got back from having a lovely lunch now that the pubs are open again. The food was great as always and the staff were super friendly but most of all we were so impressed with the safety precautions that have put in place for Covid. After walking out the restaurant in doubletree by Hilton as it was appalling we decided to try this great pub out for dinner on Saturday night . Fortunately we were early and got a table , had great food , very tasty , cooked to perfection. Good service in a nice lively atmosphere. Hao our waitress was very good and attentive.

This is the second time I've raved about this traditional pub, run under the expert eye of Tommy the Guvnor. He's young, he's passionate about his trade & best of all, he's properly local. No gentrification nonsense here. Locals, who've lived in the area all their lives, mix with tourists popping in from The Hilton a few yards away, and the atmosphere is always upbeat, cheery and welcoming. This is a genuine, traditional pub - but the food... ah, the food! It's absolutely excellent. And I'm fussy. I can spot a microwave from a hundred paces. We've eaten here countless times and never, ever had a poor meal. It's fresh, it's properly prepared, the specials of the day really are just that & what I admire is that Tommy & the chefs aren't scared of trying out new dishes that you wouldn't expect to find. Fresh fish dishes, Asian fusion - it's a broad spectrum. Anyhooo... we popped in for a Sunday lunch & both fancied the Steak & Ale Pie. Wow! This was a belter. Perfectly cooked steak (and plentiful) excellent sauce inside & the pastry was just right. Seriously, the best steak & ale pie I've ever encountered (and yes, I'm matching it right up there with the classic Shepherd's Pie at The Ivy in London - not the Ivy Cafes, I mean THE Ivy). Best of all, they love dogs here, which is handy as we have two.

We were staying in the doubletree round the corner and was our last night and we stumbled across the blacksmiths arms and we were pleasantly surprised with the ambience. We ordered the steak and as we are from north Scotland we are used to good steak but this was one of the best we have both had for some time . Full of flavour , Cooked perfectly to each specification and very reasonably priced . As everywhere in London drinks are pricey (to us ) and it’s worth noting this is the only place of the week long trip that has added a 12.5% gratitude which is a shame as I would have left more if they hadn’t automatically added it to the bill .

We visited as a couple to get some breakfast/brunch. The staff were really welcoming and friendly, a girl showed us to a table and brought over the menu. There was a good selection of food to choose from. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast, but my partner ordered a starter and steak meal from the lunch menu. Im not sure if the waitress assumed that we were eating the starter together, but she brought over an extra plate for me to share the chicken wings, but they were actually just for my partner. It would have been a good idea to establish this from the start as I was very hungry and had to wait a very long time for the food as they were waiting for my partner to finish his starter. I think if he was offered the option of them bringing out the starter with his mains this would have been much better and I would have also been a lot happier if I didn't have to sit and watch him finish a whole starter before my breakfast had even began to be cooked :(When the food eventually came it was nice and we would definitely return for food again.

As with so many reviews on here, we were staying at the Doubletree Hilton just up the road and stumbled upon The Blacksmith's Arms by accident. What a find! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the staff while the drinks were reasonably priced. We hadn't booked a meal but were told if we didn't mind hanging on for 20 minutes, they would then fit us in which they duly did in substantially less than 20 minutes. The food was very good and they didn't scrimp on the portions while the restaurant staff were pleasant. One of them even pointed out that, as residents of the Doubletree, we were entitled to a 10% discount at The Blacksmith's Arms if we picked up the right leaflet in the hotel reception. We hadn't picked up a leaflet, but I showed the key card to our room and the manager accepted that - so that was a bonus. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again two nights later. While we got the impression this was a thriving business with a very healthy footfall, it had managed to keep the feel of a proper pub and the management and staff are to be congratulated on that.

Worth getting the very short ferry trip over from Canary Wharf to the Hilton, walking through reception and then turning right to find this place a few yards away. Tables in the bar can be used for lunch but as there were eight of us we opted for the larger room at the back. They put two tables together for us and we had an excellent lunch. The steak and ale pie was first rate (despite not being a pie but rather a casserole with a pastry lid) and full of meat in a rich sauce. Perfectly cooked vegetables, an excellent clam linguine, decent half rack of ribs. Beer is well kept and there a good choice on hand pump. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton at Docklands for eight nights and popped in every night for dinner and drinks. Tom and his sister Stevie are fantastic hosts and everyone should make an effort to have at least one meal and a pint at this family friendly pub. Upon entering I was immediately welcomed by the very friendly bar team especially Stevie (aka number 2) who swiftly got my drinks. Lovely experience and would definitely recommend and return, thank you team xx

This pub is fantastically run by its proprietor Tom who is a charmign and entertaining fellow. This is a classic English pub with all the trimmings, and has chefs of different specialities on staff to provide some of th ebest pub food I've ever had. After coming here, my work group came here for a social, and Tom and his team were more than accomodating. HIGHLY recommend this place for a pint or bite to eat. Also, one of the most respectable cocktail menus I've seen at a pub.

My father and his wife were visiting from Oxford and each time I try and find the best Sunday lunch. I have failed on numerous occasions but the Blacksmiths was amazing The ribeye joint was roasted perfectly and everyone loved the food and ambience. Service was slow but the staff were lovely and I would wholehearted recommend this hostelry.

We stopped here on our Thames Path walk today and could not have been happier with the atmosphere, food and service . It’s retained authenticity and not a Shoreditch hipster in sight . Locals still use it . The roast rib eye was the best Sunday Roast my husband said he had ever had in a pub EVER ! Just melted in the mouth. Outstanding!

Lucky enough to live just down the road from this fantastic Pub. Proper pints, great service and the food is amazing. Recently popped in for a Sunday Roast and usually only enjoy home cooked roasts. We were so fortunate to have the room upstairs to celebrate a very important 2nd birthday......the room was beautifully decorated and the staff and service were amazing. Food was just superb and we all had the best time. We will be back....and cannot recommend highly enough.

Although we live in South East London we were treating ourselves to a weekend of sightseeing and a night at the Hilton down the road. I saw the pub on here and thought we should try it out for dinner. There is a wide choice of dishes on the menu, traditional stuff like sausage and mash, burgers and steak as well as Thai curries, pasta dishes and vegetarian options.

Only popped in for a coffee, But seamed like a very nice traditional pub. Looks like a nice restaurant with good food but maybe a bit expensive.

We live round the corner and have concluded that this is the best pub in Rotherhithe. We love the Blacksmith Arms for it's home-cooked food and great drinks, the friendly family running it, and the welcoming, cozy atmosphere. Also great singers on Fridays, well worth a visit.
