Book in advance. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food is exquisite and always absolutely spot on!! All six of us thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch today (15/10/23) The starters were fantastic! The Soufflé are the very best I’ve ever tasted & never fail to be full of flavour! Several starters were chosen & we all enjoyed each & every one of them! Some had the beef which melted in the mouth & amazing real Yorkshire puddings! The salmon I’m informed was simply divine! I had the pork, apple sauce, pork scratching (delicious!) & stuffing ball, all served with fresh vegetables & crispy, fluffy roast potatoes! The desserts were to die for! Treacle tart & pecan icecream superb!! Hubby enjoyed his chocolate & salted caramel delice with baked pear & a crumble top. I was absolutely full! (& ℹ deliberately didn’t eat any of the fresh bread & Butter served at the start!) We will definitely keep returning! Simply superb! Top quality food!

This was one of the best Sunday lunches I have eaten in an inn. The three course menu had choices for all dietary requirements and the waitress asked if there any special dietary allergies too. The tables are well spaced out with small rooms off for diners too. The service was impeccable and I would definitely go again for Sunday lunch.

We booked a table in advance to avoid disappointment. We’ve been here on many occasions & always been delighted with our experience. We took some friends on this occasion whom hadn’t been before. The staff are all so friendly & hard working. The men started with a beer, ladies had a gin & tonic, mine was non-alcoholic (driving). We ordered our starters & mains. I recommended the Soufflé as the Chef, well the chef delivers everything each and every time. The men had terrine, ladies the soufflé…..absolutely exquisite!!!! For mains hubby had Hake, I had chicken with a tarragon sauce, one had duck (pink) & one had sirloin of beef., a good selection of vegetables & roast Potatoes too. For dessert….I had the parfait, two had the apricot & almond tart, all simply perfectly devine!!!! We all had a wonderful lunch & will definitely return!

Wonderful staff and wonderful food! I sampled the soufflé made with mushrooms and spinach, then for the main I had the chicken dish which was filled with spinach and asparagus, served in a tarragon sauce which was so very tasty. Finally I finished with the crème brûlée with poached rhubarb and a melt in the mouth shortbread with pink peppercorns in it…..wonderful! They were all very well presented and delicious quality! My husband had the crepes filled with seafood in a chive sauce for his starter, then the tender lamb and mint sauce, with gravy……our meals were served with crunchy roast potatoes and a very good choice of vegetables too. Hubby finished his third course with a salted caramel tiramisu with dark chocolate chards and honeycomb ice cream which I must say looked absolutely fabulous! We have been here before on our own and with family and friends too, and we must say that on each and every occasion The Black Swan has delivered 100% hence why we love returning! We definitely highly recommend The Black Swan!

Hubby and I have visited The Black Swan on several occasions and have not ever been disappointed. We hadn’t been for some time and they completely delivered 100% satisfaction again! Great service delivered by friendly and welcoming staff in a lovely calm atmosphere. You could say fine dining as the quality of the food is absolutely top notch! Lovely and clean, well presented tables adorned with table cloths and the trimmings etc. I love the special touch with the candles, creating a gentle ambience. On this occasion it was an early treat for Valentines. Hubby and I chose to have water on this occasion as we often struggle to eat three courses if we have a glass of wine or beer etc. Fresh bread served in a basket and a dish of butter is served for nibbles………. For starters I opted for the mushroom & spinach soufflé and it was delicious and the presentation was superb! Hubby opted for the seafood crepes in a chive sauce which he thoroughly enjoyed. For the mains I chose chicken stuffed with asparagus and spinach with a tarragon sauce, I adore tarragon, an exquisite aniseed taste, and hubby chose lamb, we also received side dishes of roasted potatoes and vegetables of broccoli, peas, carrots and red braised cabbage. Absolutely superb!!! The presentation, the taste was all delicious! We cleared our plates! For the desserts, which I must say was very difficult to choose from as they all sounded devine! I settled for the Crème brûlée with poached rhubarb on the side and a pink peppercorn shortbread a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! Hubby chose salted caramel tiramisu with dark chocolate chards with honeycomb ice cream, and he definitely didn’t wish to share it! We were both quite full and extremely satisfied with everything we had, simply superb! Well done once again to each and every member of staff!

From the minute that I phoned to book a table for Sunday lunch and mentioned that the rice pudding looked divine to leaving totally full up yesterday what a superb experience we both enjoyed. Very warm welcome at 12, we had driven from York which actually didn't take that long, we parked opposite very easily. We were shown to our table and the menu was on a chalk board on the wall just by where we were sitting. Nice choice from soup, terrine,cheese souffle there were a couple more but I have forgotten what they were, I had the pork, duck and pheasant terrine which was so nice, hubby had the souffle which he did not want to end. Choice of mains were roast beef, roast lamb, pheasant and salmon, I had the breadt of pheasent which came with barley crispy bacon and a silky smooth game sauce delicious, hubby had the salmon ( he is not a fan of Sunday roast) and a dish of crispy roast potatoes and seasonal veg were served separately, everything was delicious and hot to the last bite. Dessert was rice pudding with plums for me thank you so much for adding it to the menu, and crepes suzette for hubby, 2 gorgeous looking crepes in a wonderful sauce he was in heaven. Decaff coffee finished off our meal which was served with home made petit fours . The toilets were extreamy clean, all the staff helpful and friendly, such a shame we live near on 100 miles away, if we lived near by we would eat here once a week. Thank you for a wonderful end to our week's holiday, we will definitely return just need to work out a weekend that we can find a hotel near by and something to entertain us during the day

Ok, so… my husband and I don’t like to go out to eat that much because when we go we find that..”they don’t cook fresh, over cook your steak or it’s better at home”… we enjoy good food and mostly at home….. BUT.. and I mean…BUT!!!! The Black Swan is outstanding.. like literally.. so it’s cosy..not a pub..100% restaurant but with pub vibe..chalk board for the menu…choices of five or so starters and mains.. puds..four/five.. then coffee with homemade chocolates… this all come in well under what you think you should be paying. The taste!! Mind blown..like I wanted to lick the plate.. and don’t even get me started on the pudding. Wine you can’t buy in the supermarket.. it’s a must.. if you like food..you’ll love the Black Swan, we did, and I can’t wait to go back. Xxx

Another absolutely superb time at the Black Swan. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The food is ‘Top cuisine!’ Good presentation, superbly cooked bringing beautiful flavours to every dish! The atmosphere is very relaxed. The quality of the food is always outstanding, we have enjoyed every meal. We will definitely keep returning.

4 of us visited, absolutely outstanding food & service, a family run business, so nice and personal, you can tell the owners and their staff are lovely down to earth people with a good taste for food. Unbelievable dishes, starter, main and dessert. Great value for money. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I have been to the Black Swan twice this month. The first time just to try it and we weren't disappointed. The food is really delicious, the staff are lovely and friendly but not in your face. We went back two weeks later and took some friends for Sunday lunch. The food again was delicious. We all had the cheese soufflé to start with, which is so light and tastes amazing. For mains one of our friends had the duck with red currant sauce which was well received, our other friend had the pork, also excellent. My husband and I had the roast lamb which was cooked to perfection. We were served a variety of vegetables along with roast potatoes which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect! Three of us had the creme brulee for dessert which was so light and delicious served with a strawberry and rhubarb compote. Our other friend had the apricot and almond tart served with vanilla ice cream, which he said was equally as delicious. We will definitely be going back if the food is as delicious as what we have experienced so far. An enjoyable experience overall . Thank you everyone at the Black Swan.

Outstanding beautifully cooked delicious meals , simply faultless quality, my wife had the trio sea food , I had ( in my opinion) the best most delicious fillet steak I’ve ever eaten anywhere in the world ! Followed by superb desserts. The service was warm, welcoming an absolute delight & exemplary in very cosy surroundings with a great private atmosphere. Hubby and I have been here more than a few times now, and we decided to treat friend who was staying with us for a few nights. We booked the table in advance t9 avoid disappointment. We were greeted with a warm welcoming smile and shown to our table. The tables are always tastefully decorated. Hubby ordered the soufflé starter(which I’ve sampled at least three times and is always superb!) our friend and I ordered the mushroom croquettes in a mushroom sauce for our starter. As always they were delicious!!! For the main, hubby chose the lamb dish, and we ordered the plaice, monkfish and mussels in a wonderful sauce. Again we had absolutely no complaints whatsoever! Perfection! For dessert hubby had the apple & plum crumble with custard, Marnie chose treacle tart and ice cream, & I chose the poached pear, ice cream, ginger snap etc and we all said what wonderful flavours and textures, and actually colours too! The smell and taste simply devine!!! We will definitely return., and we certainly recommend eating at The Black Swan, all the staff give amazing service! Absolutely fantastic value for such superb quality!

Hubby and I booked our place, which is highly recommended, as it’s very popular. We were greeted as soon as we stepped through the door with a lovely smile, and taken to our table. We opted for water to drink today. We checked out the menu on the blackboard, a lovely selection to choose from, then our order is taken from the table. Then we’re served some fresh slices of baguette bread, and real butter, while we wait. It’s such a lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere here in ‘The Black Swan’, we really love it. I decided on the mature cheddar soufflé, and hubby chose the chicken liver pate for starters…..they were both absolutely delicious! Then we both had the lamb, with roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and gravy, superbly tasty! We finished off with, for me, the chocolate mousse and raspberries, and hubby chose the apple and ginger sponge, toffee apple balls and custard, they were both fantastically faultless! We both highly recommend The Black Swan, service is great, staff super friendly, and the chefs amazing!

First visit here having found it online. What a little gem of a place, felt like home ,as setting is within what is in essence a home . Greeted warmly on arrival by this family run establishment and seated for drinks in a quaint, characterful lounge. Our party of 9 had a room to ourselves and its seating capacity is small overall, so advise booking. The menu is limited to certain starters, mains and deserts, but should accommodate most diners. You can ring and check menu choice available at the time you're going . We chose various starters, mains and desserts and were all impressed with the quality, presentation and service. It's also a nice place for couples to dine , cosy and off the beaten track. All told a gem well worth visiting. !!!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the people we were staying with, and we are so glad they did. We booked in advance and were warned that we may be the only diners that evening, a Wednesday, which was the case. So we had our own personal chef! A table had been set up for us in the bar so that we were not on our own in the restaurant. A kind thought. The food - we had three courses and it was all delicious! It had been difficult to decide what to choose as everything sounded so good. The only unfortunate thing is that we live several hours away.

I phoned literally whilst driving through the village on Friday evening to see if there was any chance of a table for 4. We were immediately accommodated by Trudy who made us all feel very welcome. There was a lovely three course menu with so much choice and the option to vary anything. The restaurant is so cozy, full of character and tucked away in such a pretty village. The food was truly amazing. I have never seen so many empty plates at the end of each course. This restaurant is a credit to Trudy and Nick and their family who clearly have a passion to give first class food that is beautifully presented along with their impeccable service. What a perfect find. I am already wanting to visit again. A big thank you to you all.

This is the fifth time we have dined at the Black Swan, and each time has been a delight. The menu is varied and reassuringly short, and each thing on it is worth trying. The crab cakes are a delight, the mushroom soup really good, tasting wonderfully of mushrooms, and the steak pie home made and delicious. Went here with family whilst staying in the area, initially I was unsure as its out of the way a bit but when you walk in you enter a nice little sitting area for pre-dinner drinks, you do feel like you are intruding if someone else is already sitting in there (well I did anyway)

This is a truly family run restaurant as every one involved is a member of the family. Reminds me of the Madame run small family restaurants in France. The Black Swan itself was built hundreds of years ago so it is definitely not a trendy place but the food is right up there with the very best. You need never worry about visiting on the Chef's day off because if the restaurant is open then the Chef is cooking and what a Chef! His food is truly delicious. I have been a customer for many, many years and have never had a poor meal there. I have eaten in Michelin Star restaurants but still prefer the Black Swan for sheer eating pleasure. Front of house is run by Mother and everything runs like clockwork. The restaurant is modest but spotless and the tables have proper tablecloths and comfortable dining chairs. Staff are friendly and helpful. Having Sunday lunch there with your family is a real treat as is a date night with just the two of you.

A small group of us went here and my partner and I thought the place was a bit outdated and felt very 70s. The menu was surprising limited. I read other reviews that talked of an A'la Carte menu which you would expect at the weekend but having asked about A;la Carte we were told the menu on the wall was the only one available despite saying on their website there is another menu

We've visited the Black Swan several times with small groups of friends, and decided it might be suitable for a larger group to celebrate a special birthday.

Encouraged by other reviews, we chose the Black Swan for a birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. The £26.50 Table d'Hote menu offered four choices for each course. Each dish was freshly, and beautifully, cooked. The cheese and leek souffle was particularly good. And, unlike some chi-chi restaurants, the portions were quite generous. Judging by the time the patrons arrived, it would seem that the restaurant limits reservations each half hour so that the kitchen is not over-stretched.

Visited last week for the first time welcoming and friendly people even looked forward to it after the friendly booking!! Did not disappoint...Cosy Bar for a pre Dinner Drink and the Food was Fab..small Menu but everything we liked on it so no problems there...Steak and Duck cooked to perfection and just as we had ordered..enjoyed it and will be returning soon...

We were taken here by a couple who said we would enjoy it. We seemed to be driving into the depths of Lincolnshire when suddenly there it was, quaint and unassuming, nestled into the dark at the end of a lane. Inside we settled into the lounge for a pre-dinner drink, it was cosy and a bit like someone's home. So we were not prepared for the excellence of the food when we went thro to the restaurant. The dishes were familiar but so well executed that they were a treat. We shall not be eating here a lot as it is a bit of a step from our home in Nottingham. But we shall definitely make the effort for special occasions or when we just fancy treating ourselves.

Nos sorprendió ver que era válida sólo por 3 meses, pero en la justicia la gerencia no honor después de la fecha de vencimiento. . Visitamos una vez en la noche y en otra ocasión para comer el domingo. La comida aquí es muy buena, bien presentada y muy sabroso. En los precios que cobran especialmente por el almuerzo de los domingos es sin duda una excelente relación calidad-precio. Mientras que el menú no es grande, es suficientemente variada para ofrecer mucha variedad.

Amable alegre pub con una cálida bienvenida y una chimenea crepitante. El restaurante era acogedor y justo para tamaño de luz baja. Cuando la comida llegó fue excepcional - entrantes de queso de cabra, y sopa de cebolla francesa y platos principales de pato y cerdo cocinado a la perfección. Los pudines era tradicional, pero muy bien hecho. Imprescindible para una noche inolvidable, y mucho más barato de lo que esperaba.

Sunday lunch was nice. Made to feel welcome and we had a massive crowd who all arrived at the same time. They didn't bat an eye.

We visited for Sunday lunch to celebrate my mum's birthday. The service was excellent and the food even better. £17.50 for a 3 course Sunday lunch is fantastic value for such amazing quality. We were very impressed.

He estado en este restaurante cada semana durante muchos años y nunca he tenido una comida que no era una delicia. Nuestra familia ha celebramos nuestra boda de diamantes y el desayuno de la boda de nuestro nieto. y todo el intermedio de cumpleaños. Nunca hemos tienen una mala comida. La table d'hote es tan buena que rara vez una carta pero el chef, Nick, cocinará todo lo que quieras. Es un restaurante familiar con madre estar al frente de la casa y yerno siendo chef con el resto de la familia ayudando en la cocina y con el servicio. El ambiente es acogedor y el servicio eficiente y amable. El menú cambia constantemente, así que nunca se aburrirá. La comida aquí es tan buena como en cualquier restaurante de estrellas Michelin en mi opinión pero cuesta una fracción del precio. No puedo elogiar el chef lo suficiente, él simplemente cocineros deliciosa comida sabe tan bueno como parece. No tengo ni afiliación con el restaurante aparte de ser un cliente muy satisfecho.

Para mi 30 cumpleaños, mi marido reservado este restaurante para 10 de nosotros. Todo el mundo dice que la comida era deliciosa. No nos podemos quejar de la comida. Sin duda volveremos.

Have been here many times and food is excellent but was disappointed recently to arrive with guests and find only a limited blackboard menu on offer. Having said this, I asked for my favourite starter and they happily obliged. The full menu never disappoints, but the limited one is 'very limited' and not very exciting.Can be cool in winter, take your pashmina!Prices are very good for the standard of food, the chef is brilliant. The only reason that I didn't give full marks is for not informing us of limited menu when we booked and not having draft beer, sad as we took 'foodie' guests.

This is a well run, family owned restaurant in a lovely setting. The food is " top drawer" and compares favourably with Michelin starred restaurants that I have experienced.

From the minute we walked through the door we felt really special. We were greeted and shown to our table by a lovely friendly lady. She took our drinks order and then left us to browse the considerable menu. The food was amazing and we say this with great confidence as we have eaten in some of the top restaurants in the country. This truly is a little gem of a restaurant hidden away in a Lincolnshire village. The food is excellent and the menu is high end both in quality and presentation. The price for the quality is not expensive and in my view represents huge value. The wine list will suit all pallets and pockets. This is a family run business at the top end of the food chain.

Took my parents out for Sunday lunch on a bright Spring day. The sunshine was reflected in the warm welcome at this genuinely friendly family run restaurant. Three course lunch with a wide selection for each course - between the four of us, we tried all the starters - chicken liver pate, breaded salmon balls, Austrian cauliflower soup and a spinach and Parmesan soufflé. All were tasty and served with a small green salad (apart from the soup). Main course options were roast local Lincs pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce; a duck in red wine cassoulet; partridge pie with a suet crust, which was divine. With home made puds to follow, how do they deliver such flavour and outstanding quality at £17.50 each? Never disappointed when eating here!

On a cold Saturday evening in January the Black Swan provided a delicious 3 course meal in a warm and welcoming restaurant. My wife and I opted for the table d'hôte which provided fair value and proved to be delicious, the duck was especially good. Being that it was a dark and miserable night the place was fairly quiet but the hostess was very friendly and the service was good. Overall it was a very enjoyable meal with points only lost as the decor was not to our taste and being so quiet it lacked a little atmosphere. It won't stop us trying it again though, perhaps later in the year when the season changes and more people are eating out.

We booked last minute and were greeted with a very warm welcome. Excellent, freshly cooked food and very good value for money, we paid £21 for three courses. I had tiger prawns to start and they were the best I've tasted for a long while. Good wine list and the service was excellent. We had a great evening and are looking forward to going back!

I have visited this Restuarant on many occasions, and am always sure of a well cooked imaginative meal. There is a comprehensive A la carte menu, but I usually opt for the 3 course Table d'hote reasonably priced at £26.00. It generally offers 3 starters 3/4 mains and 3/4 sweets.The main course comes with freshly cooked veg and really crispy roast/fried potatoes. All courses are well designed such as deep fried goats cheese with onion marmalade, sardine fillets, with their home made terrine a regular item. Mains give a choice of red meat, fish, poulltry, and vegetarian, cooked fresh .Well worth a visit

We had visited this restaurant a few months ago when visiting my boyfriends parents and I had been looking forward to going back ever since. Location is fantastically charming, service perfect personal and friendly, but what really makes this place is the absolute quality of the food. Top produce cooked to a level that London chefs would be jealous of. Presented beautifully too. We cleared all out plates and we had three big courses each! I'm already looking forward to going back. Highly recommended

This is one of the best restaurants in our area - Lincolnshire / Nottinghamshire borders. The food is always superb and at a very affordable price. The only place to rival it for quality is the Brownlow Arms but that is more expensive and probably not worth the price hike. We have done special celebrations here for years and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

From first stepping through the door to leaving was made to feel very welcome. Staff were very nice and efficient.The food was superb one of the best meals I have had, this restaurant really is a hidden gem and is well worth a visit.

This was the second time our luncheon club has visited here. The meal was absolutely delicious, we could not fault any part of our experience whilst we were there. I would fully recommend a visit.

Have visited this restaurant on several occasions and the food never fails to impress, every mouthful is a delight and a credit to the chef - great value too, good wine selection, nice atmosphere..the owners, trudy and her husband, are really nice, as are the staff...a lovely place that we will visit again and again
