Lovely Sunday lunch good size portions ,lots of fresh vegetables,nice roast potatoes,and Yorkshire pudding,had turkey, very tasty and great tasting gravy,crumble and custard for dessert ,very filling,delicious all round,will be back very soon,friendly staff

Excellent Sunday roast as usual. My favourite place to take family for a Sunday lunch. Surprised to know that the restaurant wasn’t being used but the bar side was perfect and less formal when you have a 20 month old with you. The roast potatoes were a better standard than previously.

Have only ever been for Sunday lunch before which was superb. This time called in for meal and what a meal!!!. Service impeccable, lovely ambience in bar area where we chose to sit. The food was amazing - not your normal pub menu but really imaginative dishes cooked to perfection. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening

The mushroom stroganoff with chicken strips was so good I felt like laying back and having a cigerette afterwards!!!!

We are regulars who visit the pub because the food is nice and the staff are lovely. We always get a warm welcome and attentive service. The menu changes every few months and I always find good vegetarian dishes that are different to what you find at other places. My husband, who is not vegetarian, enjoys all the meals he has had there and says they are of a high quality.. The venue itself is always clean and tidy. During the Covid period, we always felt that the precautions they took were far better than other restaurants we visited during this time, and they have continued to ensure the pub is hygienic to the highest standards. We would recommend this pub for the excellent food it serves and the nice staff.

Just had another lovely Sunday lunch at The Black Horse. Excellent food, crispy roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds, succulent roast meats and vegetables including delicious braised red cabbage. As always the staff were very welcoming and attentive. We will return!

There is so much to admire about the Black Horse in Little Weighton that it’s hard to know where to start. On a chilly March evening the bar area offers a warm welcome with a roaring fire and a convivial atmosphere. Tables full of families, couples and parties of friends tuck into generous portions of the finest local products East Riding has to offer, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. Thank Heavens we booked in advance! The menu offers a range of creative and inviting dishes that reveal the Black Horse to be no ordinary eatery. The food is exceptional and the service faultless. Also - and importantly for someone like me - there is a good range of wines many offered, handily, by the half bottle, perfect when you like a different wine with your starters and mains. This is just one of the many small details that sets the Black Horse apart and makes you appreciate its specialness. At a time of huge pressure on small hospitality businesses it is so good to see how the Black Horse is valued and supported by the local community to whom it offers so much. Long may it continue.

The food was delicious and always is. Such a mouthwatering menu, prepped and cooked to the highest standards. Such lovely waitresses - just the right level of attention 👌. Always greeted professionally by a smiley and friendly face. It really is a lovely place with an exceptional dining experience. Can't wait to come back again very soon. Called in for a meal on the way home from a funeral. Placed order for 2 meals when the food came it was no better then a road side burger van bland and cold. The floor under the table was sticky as was the table. When asked if the staff could wipe the table we found them rude. Give this diva place a miss. Better places to dine in the area.

Poor service, poor standards, food under my table, dirty glasses and rude staff. I would avoid this clearly over hyped PUB and its grub as it is over priced rubbish!

We had a wonderful afternoon at the Black Horse. Matthew, our waiter, was an excellent, attentive and efficient host and the food was all wonderful. The duck leg was among the best I’ve had, cooked to perfection and beautifully crispy skin, the steak pies were full of tender flavourful meat and the pastry was delicious, especially the gluten free pastry which way exceeded expectations! We also had desserts chosen with Matthew’s help and were not disappointed, all absolutely delicious and innovative recipes. The pavlova special was particularly good, along with the ‘flapjack cheesecake’. Highly recommend a visit to the Black Horse if you value excellent cooking, flavourful recipes and great service! We will be back soon!

First time at The Black Horse since new tenants and wow not disappointed! Lovely food and lots of it, excellent service and atmosphere - even though everyone else had left by the time we had finished! Staff couldn’t do enough for us and generous portions too! There are some excellent gourmet pubs/restaurants in the East Riding, but there are few that can boast such a diverse and consistently impressive cuisine as the Black Horse. The carrot pakoras, cheese cashew salad, almond and plum flapjack cheesecake were truly inspiring conceptions and their execution was similarly excellent. If you check my reviews, you will see that there are few places I can completely recommend, yet I have no reservations when I tell you to give this place a try!

Stopped by after a walk yesterday for an exceptional Sunday lunch. The food was beautiful, service friendly and felt very safe and secure with the venue's COVID safety measures - but without it affecting our experience.

As an extreme vulnerable person,who is actually a health and safety advisor, this was my first time to go to a resturant after being in lockdown since march. The facillities, staff and layout of the resturant was excellent, Covid distancing was in effect at all times by the layout and the staff members. I felt compleatly safe and at ease at all times, as a family of four we enjoyed a full three course sunday lunch meal. The food was superb, excellent and substancial. It was a joy to be there.

We have driven past The Black Horse many a time enjoying the lovely smells coming from the kitchen so decided to enjoy the inside this evening for a change! Table booking was extremely easy online and a lovely email in return from Jason. The menu has plenty to choose from, from nibbles, starters, mains through to desserts. The steak and ale pies are absolutely second to none! The staff were lovely, very polite with attention to detail perfected. My only complaint was with myself for not being able to finish the meal! Thank you all very much for a lovely evening. We will certainly return!

It was a very busy Sunday, but we were shown through to our table before we were half way through a drink and a review of the menu, the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was excellent, absolutely faultless. We came here on a Friday evening and were made to feel welcome on arrival by the young waitress. We had the Scallops and Pork & Chorizo terrine as starters, Steak and Lamb Rump as mains and the Fruit Crumble and Dark Chocolate Cheesecake as dessert. The food was excellent and will certainly call again. Having driven from the south of the Humber it is definitely a journey worth taking. The only slight downside was we had to pay extra for onion rings with the steak and overall it was a little bit expensive. That is not a criticism, just an observation that some customers may be put off by it.

I dined here on a quiet Tuesday evening with my mother on her recommendation. There were few other diners,but the warm ambience created by the decor and styling meant the place didn't feel cold and empty.We each chose just a main and a desert from a varied menu with some innovative dishes and pub classics.The food was delicious. We called in for a meal this evening the food was delicious and the service as excellent. Tuesday night burger specials. We tried the veggie burger, the dirty burger and the chicken burger. All were delicious and well presented. We shared a cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding which were tasty and very filling. We will be returning soon to try other items from the menu. Had a very nice evening with a group of friends. There’s a good selection on the menu and between us we tried a load of dishes. All were well prepared however I would have liked mine to have been hotter than they were served. The stand out fish was the fish and chips which was huge and apparently delicious.

I had the ‘Undecided’ choice of beef, pork and turkey which was so tender and tasty. It came with delicious roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and fresh veg of Savoy cabbage, broccoli and roasted parsnips and carrots. Have to give a special mention the our young waitress Chloe who was so polite and helpful: what a credit to the team. Would definitely recommend The Black Horse.

We have had supper at this pub before and enjoyed it. But we had not tried Sunday lunch. Seven of us dined including two children. The Sunday lunch was excellent as the meat was tasty (we all chose different meats, beef pork and turkey ) and there was an excellent choice of vegetables including a taster of a new cauliflower cheese.

Visited today with my wife and 2 children. I booked in line at 12pm for a 1pm table, I was actually surprised they had one. When we arrived the restaurant was busy and I actually thought my online booking was in it’s I only made it 60 mins before hand. We were greeted at the door and asked if we had a reservation, I thought here we go they won’t have it and they will turn us away. I worried for no reason as the lady looked on her reservation list and our name was on it (brilliant).

We were visiting our son at Hull Uni and saw this place on TripAdvisor for Sunday lunch. The Sunday Roast was absolutely delicious and such great value! Good quality meat, lovely roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy and delicious freshly cooked veg. We eat out a lot in Manchester but the quality of food at The Black Horse takes some beating. We'll be back.

The dining area is bright and airy and has a friendly ambience. We visited on a Saturday night just before 7pm. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table straight away. Service started off well but as the place filled up things went a bit awry. They forgot to bring water to the table then one of the steaks was not well enough cooked. It was returned and came back perfectly however the chips had been changed and were not nearly as nice as the first lot that had been served. The other two steaks and chips were really good.

It was my partners birthday and Sunday Lunch is her favourite meal. So I wanted to treat her to somewhere nice, and not a bog standard carvery.

I'd read great reviews for the past few months so on a rainy Saturday we decided to try the pub. A modern take on traditional pub food. My husband had a burger which was delicious and well garnished. I had a vegetable pie with chestnuts and a stilton cheese crust. We finished with the dark chocolate cheesecake. Rich but so good. The beer and wine selection are quite good. Service was very good. For 130pm on a Saturday they place was busy. We hope to return for dinner in the near future!

Some friends and I were staying in Cottingham for a 30th Birthday weekend away. We booked this restaurant and were really looking forward to our meal as the menu looked great however we were left very disappointed.

Visited for a meal with hubby and son. Really warm atmosphere. The two young ladies were really friendly and the service was excellent. Really lovely with our son. My liver and bacon was amazing and husbands steak was very good. Our son wanted a desert from grown up menu and they sorted a kids size portion for us which was a hit. Sunday lunch with a friend, made even better by a warm greeting, wonderful food and timely but relaxed, friendly service. My friend had a traditional Sunday roast, l chose a gorgeous steak & ale pie; both were outstanding, two plates completely cleared. The pie was meaty, with a gravy full of flavour and the pastry simply perfect. Delicious roast potatoes completed my meal while my friend topped his roast pork with a mountainous variety of vegetables. We didn't have starters or desserts but I'm sure they would have been equally delicious. Nice to see the tables were spacious, not cramped together too. A lovely visit in every respect.

Booked a table at the last minute, which was no problem for the staff, we were shown to a very nice table, and the staff are very polite and tentative without being in your face, we had the steak pie and the liver, and both very nice, and plenty of veg and gravy, nice beers and wines, roaring fire and good atmosphere, would go back without any hesitations

A superb lunch cooked to perfection. We had the Chicken in a Basket, the Game Cobbler and the Steak and Ale Pie. Clean plates summed up the excellent tastes. Likewise with the desserts. The waitress single handed was working hard to service the tables with food and drink but the pace was again excellent. All in all a gem!!

We visited here for my girlfriends 21st birthday meal with family (11 of us in total) two of which are vegan. The wide range of the menu made for a difficult choice as everything sounded amazing.

Management have a bullying view when it comes to the young members of waiting staff or potential waiting staff. If your customer service by these members are not as expected, please spare a thought for them by the way they are treated by management.

Upon entering the staff were friendly and prompt with getting us a table. Drinks extremely reasonable in price and very sizable. All 4 of us ordered the pie and the staff were happy to swap the potato for chunky chips. It was beautiful, home made and hug portions, and the gravy was homemade and plentiful. It is definitely the best pie I have ever eaten. Would definitely recommend and the price is beyond reasonable.

Booking advisable! Sunday lunch (£12) - was clearly good quality with options for pork, beef or turkey - or a bit of each. You can get extra roasts and Yorkshire pudding for £2 more. We had walked 13 miles to get there so fairly hungry - I had a bit of each with the extra. I’m not generally a fan of Sunday lunches in pubs as I’m usually disappointed with portion size and same here - not really enough meat.

We went on Friday night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The food and service was excellent as always. Since Micaela took over the running of The Black Horse she has transformed it into the best it has ever been in the 40 plus years we have lived in the village. My husband and I have been on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The menu is regularly changed by Wendy and her team, the taster menus are amazing. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep.
