The Birchgrove in Cardiff

Friday lunchtime meal for 2.Excellent COVID precautions and table spacing, every precaution taken. This did not stop staff being friendly and helpful, they deserve a special mention.Unlike some pub fare food was tasty and felt freshly cooked.Mixed grill was great and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her steak.All in all as pub dining should be and so frequently falls short.

¡Pésimo servicio, el pobre anciano de la cocina se desmoronó! ¡Él fue la única parte agradable de esta visita! Realmente sentí pena por él. ¡Otro personal holgazaneando sin hacer nada! ¡La mujer del bar incluso pidió a los clientes que subieran sus botellas vacías!

I popped in to the Birchgrove recently for a spot of lunch and enjoyed my visit.I only wanted something quick so I opted for the Mushroom Soup with half a baguette. I have to say I really enjoyed it. The soup was lovely and fresh as was the baguette.Apart from the heating being off due to repair work I'd definitely return to the Birchgrove for food.

Bonne ambiance britannique avec une décoration traditionnelle de pub. Personnel sympathique et nourriture bonne.

Fuimos a un almuerzo tardío el domingo con mi hija y su novio. Gran servicio del personal y delicioso asado, tanto la carne como el cordero eran encantadores. El pub tiene un ambiente muy agradable y sin duda volveremos cuando estemos en Cardiff.

I visited with a friend on a quiet Saturday afternoon and on arrival there were no other customers waiting at the bar, there was only one bartender serving so we thought we'd be served straight away. Unfortunately he was busy texting and despite us standing virtually in front of him he pretended not to notice us, we waited politely for him to finish but several minutes later he was still concentrating on his phone so my friend said are you serving, texting or on your break? He said 'texting' and carried on. However, after a couple of seconds he turned around and asked what we'd like. Whilst he served us we tried to make pleasant chitchat but his response was so negative and abrupt we gave up. Instead of staying for a second drink we left and tried the New Inn instead.

Era el pub fayre estándar, el pescado y las patatas fritas estaban bien cocinados, pero mis tortitas de pato no eran geniales. El pato no estaba lo suficientemente caliente y los panqueques estaban muy fríos. Después quería un café, pero no había descafeinado disponible, así que elegí un chocolate caliente, que dejé porque estaba aguado.

Lovely food, excellent service and amazing staff. We never fail to enjoy our visits to the Birch. Perfect for A Saturday night listening to live music, Sunday lunch or a mid week treat!

Tuve unos hermosos San Miguel y decidí comer algo, pero el barman dijo que la cocina estaba cerrada. Destripado y hambriento. Sin embargo, el encantador chef se acercó y dijo que cocinaría algo rápido. El pastel de estaca y cerveza era perfecto. Ahora que es el mejor servicio al cliente. Gracias abedul. Amplia gama de comidas disponibles y a un excelente valor.

Tuve comida la semana pasada y no solo fue un valor tremendo, sino que el servicio fue insuperable. Creo que la señora que nos atendió se llama Linda y ha estado allí durante años, ya que la reconozco por visitas anteriores, no solo por un servicio oportuno sino también impecable, nada era demasiado problema. El otro personal fue igualmente impresionante y simplemente no puedo alabarlos lo suficiente. Un servicio como este debería reconocerse ya que este tipo de miembros del personal realmente hacen una gran diferencia en el lugar donde elijo comer en el futuro. El Birchgrove definitivamente estará en esa lista.

We went in late on father’s day. The barman said that they were no longer taking food orders because of the heavy demand.We talked to the kitchen manager who allowed us to order when we said we were going to a Subway across the road.The food was excellent and the service was very good!!Liked it so much we nt back again tonight. Were not disappointed!!

What can I say! Lovely afternoon around the birch this afternoon. Fifteen of us and service was superb. All meals on time and exactly what we wanted. Special thanks to Steph for her attention making sure we were all accommadated for. Fab afternoon.

We booked a meal for 15 on Saturday 23rd March, the seating area was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely lady who took our orders . The food was really good value for the money . We left for about 45 Minutes to meet more work colleagues in another pub but it was dire in there so we all returned to the Birchgrove. The lady who served us earlier let us have our tables back as there were so many of us. They had a singer in there which was really good .Overall we had a brilliant night with really good bar staff and waitress. Will definitely book again for another work night out

Meal out with family including in-laws who live a few doors away. Lucky them! I have enjoyed beer and watching rugby in this pub for many years but what struck me about this meal was the level of service and willingness to ensure we were happy by every member of the staff who looked after us - bar area and kitchen alike. The food was good, robust, pub fayre but with options and even a deal for a Monday night which saved a few pounds - a bonus. Atmosphere was just spot on especially for a sports theme pub really. Memorable evening.

On Sunday the 27th January my family and I visited the Birch for a family meal. As usual everything was perfect and the whole family enjoyed themselves ., The staff are always friendly and attentive to customers needs

Fantastic food and a good bottle of house white for less than £10!!! £37 total bill for 5 people. Excellent value.

Very pleased with the choices for the Xmas meal (especially the vegetarian options), plus the discount made available for Mon - Thu dining. Good quality food and excellent service. Also a good choice of wines and real ales.

Once again my family and I visited The Birchgrove for a family Sunday Lunch.

The Birchgrove is a very homely comfortable pub. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Great choice of Real Ale and great food. Saturday nights are boosted with quality live music. Well done all staff at the Birchgrove !!

Having already booked our family Christmas get together at The Birchgrove, it was a lovely surprise to find the staff displaying samples of the festive menu last night. Starters mains and puddings were all ready to be sampled so we did. 10/10 to Tim and all the staff we thororoughly enjoyed and may even book in a few extra visits for food over the festive period!

On Friday the 5th October my family and I had a meal and drinks at The Birchgrove.

A Proper Pub, plenty of atmosphere good beer with plenty of sports screens to suit different sports fans.

We regularly visit this pub. The staff are always friendly and they serve good pub food. Its a great local pub.

Visited as a couple and had the 2 x course Sunday lunch menu for £9.99, so 1 had a starter and main and 1 had main and dessert.

San Miguel is lovely. Gamon and eggs wasnt the best but eatable. would try again. Sunday dinner looks amazing but didnt try. Staff are excellent. Price is very good

a great pub to watch sport, good selection of beers / ciders, and great food at very reasonable prices. Often frequent the Birch for a pint and lunch on weekends, sweet chilli chicken skewers are to die for.

As it was a friday evening, the pub got busier as time went along. The manager/owner appears to be monitoring the business in a professional manner and "hands on manner" which probably accounts for the efficient and quick service at the lounge bar. Nice atmosphere for an oldy world pub.and I would certainly recommend this pub to others.

We had a family meal here today and I have to say we were blown away. A two course Sunday lunch for just under £10, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. The food was delicious, on our table we had beef and lamb dinners all followed up by either crumble or Sundaes. We had had one gluten free family member and she was fully catered for.

Went to the Birchgrove today for a Sunday lunch with my family. It was our first visit and from start to finish were amazed at the attentive staff and value for money lunch. Can't beat a two course Sunday lunch for under a tenner!

Went today for Sunday lunch had two courses for 9.99 the deserts were all around 4 pound's each without the main meal staff so obliging well worth paying this lovely pub a visit

Nice cool shady pub on a hot day needing some refreshment. Nice and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Would come here again.

Thanks to all the staff.my wife and I had an evening meal 26/6/18.Ihad lemon chicken sweet potato chips plus onion rings my wife settled for veggie pasta dish.They were absolutely superb well done Sue and all the staff.

Been here several times in the last year, food is high quality and very reasonably priced and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Well I have been here before and the pub meals are very nice and reasonable price. But when we arrived on the weekend looking forward to a meal a big sporting event being shown on all of the televisions. No problem with this but no room for the people to sit so everyone who had meals remained seated at the tables so we could not order any meals. So if you want a meal check your TV guide as you will be disappointed not being able to eat if that is your plan.

Went here today for lunch as having work done on my kitchen. What fantastic value. 2 meals for £10. Didn’t know what to expect but it was delicious and as important for me, piping hot. OH had the plaice which was lovely. I had the sausage and mash which was really delicious. Real comfort food. Haven’t been here for years as only down the road. Will return again again

I use this pub on a day to day basis, this pub is great for sport, good atmosphere with great staff. Had food here a few times and I’d say it was above average. Always have a great laugh with the staff.

Well I must say this was a pleasant surprise located on the busy birch grove road we decided to have a go at pub food. I had scampi and chips along with the peas and sauce and my wife had the sirloin steak along with the usual dressing. The food was very nice indeed the staff were fabulous really polite and helpful. You can run up a tab if desired and pay bill on leaving of which we did. They even have a television in the beer garden to ensure that you do not miss out on that big sports event if that is your liking. Parking is a real problem but hopefully you are able to find a space . If you want pub food at a reasonable price with great staff then give it a try .

I come here once a week from the bay to see my family. I come here because I love the atmosphere. The service and the friendly staff. Every meal I have ever had here had been absolutely fabulous. The menu changes and the variety is very good. The value of the food is extraordinary. I would recommend this pub to anyone who is looking for a friendly good quality food and service at good prices.

What a wonderful place. Met up with friend I haven't seen in awhile and the pub was an amazing place to meet up. Staff were so friendly and helpful and we had lovely meals. The atmosphere was wonderful. Will definitely be coming back with my family and friends. Well done birchgrove
