Only popped into the Berkeley Arms for a couple of beers but on a lovely summers evening in July sitting outside all very pleasant. I can imagine that conversely in winter with the open fire going it would be equally attractive. Staff friendly and decent selection of real ales and largers. Menu looked reasonable but can’t comment on that aspect - maybe next time!

Cockburn's Tea Rooms

16/08/2018: Excellent scones with lashings of cream and jam. Large china pot of proper leaf tea, pleasant background music. All round first class.
02/08/2018: It's really terribly twee here - not in a bad way though it seems a bit of a pastiche and not especially to our taste. My husband had the very generous cheese Ploughman's Lunch and I had the macaroni and cheese, which was sadly patchily hot and light on macaroni. Friendly, efficient service. I suspect they know their market niche here - which perhaps isn't us.

The Fox Goes Free

20/07/2018: Lovely Downs views from the garden, and lots of cosy fireplaces in winter. A burger for lunch wasn't the biggest test for the kitchen, but it was very good, generous and nice ground beef hamburger. The restaurant was super-busy and we were warned there could be a wait, but our lunch arrived quickly considering. Vegetarians have good options and the wine list was happily extensive. Dog-friendly too.
17/06/2018: Clearly a very popular venue in a small village, which means people are happy to make the journey. A proper pub with rooms and a good atmosphere in and out. Decor beams and old church chairs but nicely done and well presented table. Service very good with a new virtually untrained waitress who connected well with the diners. Food with imagination of high quality and a well chosen wine list. Plenty of parking.
